He’s been there for a week when he slips on one of the rocks and almost cracks his skull open when he sees someone from across the shore. It’s easy to notice him, of course–he’s strikingly beautiful with those big brown eyes and full lips.

But most of all, it’s the tail. The tail catches him off guard.

“What the fuck,” he mutters, feeling like he’s lost his mind. “What the fuck.”

“Never seen a merman before, have you?” the merman says casually, like it’s a common occurrence to find a mythical creature in the wild. “You’re not from around here.”

“I'm not,” Dream admits, feeling like he really must’ve cracked his skull open when he fell because… this can’t be happening. This isn’t real. “I’m sorry: is that a tail?”

The man–or, rather, the merman–laughs, open and easy. “It’s fake. Do you want to touch it?”

“Can I?” he asks, feeling like maybe the man is telling the truth. There’s no such thing as mermen, right?

“Of course not, you idiot,” the merman chastises him before splashing around once more, his tail visible underneath the water.

we are going to ignore my three month hiatus and just focus on the now (went through big changes, life-altering events, a (good!) promotion, the whole nine yards)

Welcome to FIC ART FRIDAY!

What is it? Well, it's pretty much in the title; we all pick a fic we like and create some art for it. We have so many lovely fics in the dteam-adjacent fandom, so let's decorate them with some art! We want to host the first Fic Art Friday in a week (May 10) and then we can just keep it a regular thing.

How does one participate? We all individually pick a fic we like and that we want to draw art for. We post our art works on fridays with the tag #fic art friday. That way we can see each other's work. I will definitely be reblogging it all here but you are not required to do that.

Who can participate? EVERYONE :D Whether you are a new or ancient Tumblr account, whether you have been drawing for years or just started right now, you are happily invited to participate.

What kind of art? Any! Medium, style and whatever is totally up to you. It doesn't have to be a big, time-consuming art piece either. Doodles, sketches, we love to see it all!

In terms of rating, I usually make sure to stay within the same rating as the fic that inspires my art but that's just how I go about it.

Do we have to draw every week? Absolutely not! We do want to make it a regular thing but it should more be something that gives us a little push when we want to make art for a fic anyway and not a "we need to force ourselves to push out fic art every week". It's supposed to be fun :D

Should we ask the writers whose fic inspired our art for permission first? We can if we want to! But according to the answers on this post, it is not something that is required.

Happy creating and we are so excited for the first Fic Art Friday next week! :D
