One thing that the fandom has ruined for me is crackships. Lucien and Vassa? Would make such a fun crackship. Gwyn and Tarquin? So adorable. The problem is that E/riels try to pass them as real ships, which immediately ruins the crackship for me. They only use them to get Luciem and Gwyn out of the way.

Plus, everyone saying that Lucien and Elain can't have a book because they are side characters...Chaol and Yrene? They had a book. And in Azriel's bonus, you can see Azriel being surprised at his thoughts and feelings for Gwyn.

Maas wrote Aelin returning Chaol his ring to show that she rejected him, and they aren't endgame.

Maas also wrote Elain to return the necklace after Azriel called an almost kiss between them a mistake.

It really is obvious.

Hypothetical question; if Jesminda turned out to be alive, or brought back from the dead, would you still want Elucien to be endgame? Why/why not?

Anon thank you so much for this question but if we find out that 1. Jesminda was alive the whole time or 2. gets resurrected, I would get the biggest ick ever and have to stop reading the series. I think that would cheapen everything: Jesminda x Lucien, Lucien’s bond with Elain, Beron and Autumn’s racism, the lesser fae plot, etc etc. I would hate it. So. Much.

I love Jesminda x Lucien so much BECAUSE they’re doomed lovers. Idk why, I just have a huge thing for that. Take one look at my pfp and you can correctly guess that Brokeback Mountain is one of my favorite movies. I love doomed lovers and characters doomed by the narrative because they have a huge potential of being so incredibly impactful when written well. And Jesminda is a victim of fridging (where a female character is killed off solely to drive a male character’s story) but idk man. Yes, she is used as a plot device, but that sort of device is so deep and impactful and really resonates with a lot of important topics: losing loved ones, the horrible impact racism has, sexism, classism, and trying your hardest to push through all of that and make a better society. That’s what I’m trying to write in my fic. And in canon, she is one of the reasons why Elucien has so much reluctancy; Lucien thought she was his mate and died before the bond could snap. He spends hundreds of years mourning, only to find his true mate? I think that’s incredible. And with Elucien being endgame, I think both Elain and Lucien need to learn to let go of the past and accept their future, and that is just so angsty and bittersweet and beautiful!

I love Jesminda x Lucien (I think is Lucinda) because of future Elucien and I love Elucien because of Jesminda x Lucien.

Jesminda is a plot device but she can be such a plot device that she viciously haunts that narrative and drives so many plots so the only way I would accept her resurrection (I could never accept her being alive that whole time that’s fucking crazy) is if she comes back as some sort of vengeful ghost or something and murders Beron 😂💀

You’re telling me you recognize that Elain will be leaving the Night Court, but in the same breath you’re ignoring her connection to Spring or Day?

Elain’s likeness to Spring and Day is constant. One of the most in your face character symbolism SJM has written in all three series.
