“O-Octavia…” Lily’s hand suddenly gripped the other girl’s arm tightly. “What are we supposed to do when we get tired of running? What happens if we pass out from exhaustion, if we run out of food?” Her eyes started to water. “This place is a death trap.”

“Yeah?” Lily dared to take a small step closer to the other girl. “So am I.” She smiled, brushing her hand lightly against Finch’s, just to see what her reaction would be. Finch had somehow managed to swoop her off her feet. There was a faint blush that tinted Lily’s cheeks, but she hoped the other wouldn’t notice.

“You’re pretty flirtatious, aren’t you?” Lily grinned up at Finch. She was hardly ever this forward with people unless it was a date, but things seemed to be going well so far. “I like that.”

Finch shrugged her shoulders, as if play off her ways a bit. Honestly the flirting had come to her pretty easily with Lily and she couldn’t help it. She was really cute and her laugh definitely brought a smile to her. “Well, I’m glad.”

Lily scoffed lightly, crossing her arms and not moving away as he approached her. Of course she was attracted to him; everyone was. But there was a difference between meaningless flirting and an actual relationship; she wanted the former. “Mm… I doubt it,” she said with a laugh. Her eyebrows raised as she looked up at him, daring to move a little closer. Maybe meaningless flirting could turn into meaningless sex. “Don’t flatter yourself. You have no idea what I like,” she replied with a grin.

How could she not think that? Not only did Uhtred keep flipping sides, he made pointless jokes during serious moments. Lily hated that he was actually kind of funny. “You never shut your mouth,” she replied, crossing her arms. Funny coming from her, of all people. “You are unbelievably disrespectful.”

        Hearing her he raised an eyebrow but ended up laughing, moved a little closer and ended up opening his mouth even wider. ❝——Never and I guarantee my mouth isn’t just good for talking❞ he winked, simply to tease her. He really had nothing better to do than tease Lily and her gestures amused him greatly. He shrugged as he listened to her but without wiping his smile off his face. ❝And yet you’re right here in front of me. If I didn’t know better, Lily, I’d say you like spending time with me❞ he used a flirtatious tone simply to tease her.

He had a point. Still, Lily shrugged nonchalantly at his question. “I wasn’t trying to be intrusive. I was asking more as a…” Not a friend; they’d only just met. But what other word was there? “Never mind.” She understood where he was coming from; he was probably stressed out enough without having to deal with the press.

“Right.” She hadn’t fully remembered that; she hadn’t paid too much attention to the smaller details. She was more interested in the whole friendship turned to rivalry part. Asking him about that would only make him even more uncomfortable. She wanted to know more about augmented reality, but she’d pried enough. “Well, uh, I wish you the best of luck with that.”

Lily could tell she was making him uncomfortable; his body language and the way he spoke was evidence enough. She really hadn’t meant to intrude, but she was always looking for a way to bring more excitement into her life. Meeting a man from the news seemed like a good start.

“Shit, sorry,” she apologized, glancing around briefly to make sure no one had heard them. “Uh… how’s it going? The whole VR game thing?” If she’d had less common courtesy, she would’ve asked why he and the other CEO were enemies. She wasn’t that intrusive, though. “And, like, when will it be released?”

“If the press hasn’t found out any details, what makes you think I’m going to reveal any information to a complete STRANGER?” A scoff escaped his lips. Did she really think he’d be so easy and just tell her anything? If it wasn’t out in the public yet then there was a reason behind it. There was a lot going on in the background that still needed to be figured out. Until things were sorted out accordingly he’d keep his lips shut about anything regarding the game.

“And you’re slightly correct, it’s AR. Augmented Reality, very different from Virtual reality.” Which was why there was so much buzz about him, his company and the game development. It would REVOLUTIONIZE the world and gaming as everyone was accustomed to.

“Uh…” Lily paused for a moment, unzipping her purse and grabbing her cell phone. It was an older version; she wasn’t sure if she could be able to get a signal. Damn it. “No signal.” She but her lip worriedly. “Is there a call button?”

“Oh, I really fuckin’ hope not.” Wolves weren’t meant to settle for enclosed spaces and while she could handle them when she needed to, the idea of being stuck didn’t sit well with her at all, especially in an in-between space where all kinds of entities could cause them strife. “You happen to have a phone on you with reception?”

“I…” Lily tilted her head in confusion. “God is in a 1969 Chevy… lost in the middle of the United States?” She laughed again. “Are you feeling okay?” she asked, raising an eyebrow slightly. She knew nothing about cars, so she had no idea what the hell he was talking about. She supposed it was something metaphorical. Maybe he wasn’t drunk?

        Hearing the girl say that only provoked a smile but he ended up approaching her remaining face to face with his gaze fixed on her without separating. ❝——And why do you think that?❞ he asked with interest and amusement on his face, not hiding it in the least. The truth was he was amused that she would say that although it was no surprise, most Saxons who were Alfred’s devotees thought that and he didn’t care.

Lily laughed at his words. Oh, she was so glad she had him as a friend. He always cheered her up and made her laugh. Plopping herself down on the couch, she gestured for him to sit next to her. “I can’t wait. What movie is it?” she asked curiously, putting her feet up on the coffee table.

Who was Lily to say no? Besides, she always liked a night out, and if it would help Marlene feel better, she was all for it. They were friends, after all. “Sure,” Lily agreed, a small smile coming over his face. “What are you thinking — a bar, bowling, an arcade? I’m cool with anything.”

Lily knew better than to ask too many questions, but she had never deal with a wound like this before. Hell, she’d hardly dealt with any wounds at all. She wasn’t a doctor; she wasn’t certified to do any of this. Maybe it was a test. The blood didn’t gross her out nearly as much as she thought it would. Slowly, she wrapped the bandage around his leg, looking up at Rio to see if he approved.

“Are you going to tell me what happened?” It was none of Lily’s business, but didn’t she have a right to know, since she was the one patching him up? It wasn’t unusual for Rio to be injured; what was unusual was him coming to her about it.

There wasn’t much Lily could do at this point. She held the sword up, breathing heavily as she stared at the other girl. If this was where she died, then so be it. She wasn’t nearly a good enough fighter to kill Clove, but this had been a long time coming. The two had developed a rivalry of sorts ever since they met in the training arena.

Letting out sigh, Lily shook her head, plunging the blade into the dirt below her. This was probably the stupidest thing she could’ve done, but she didn’t want to fight — not now. “Let’s call it off,” she said softly. “The Capitol wants fo see a gruesome battle where you make me suffer before ending my life.” She looked into Clove’s eyes, aware that the cameras were probably all on her. “They’re monsters, Clove, making children kill each other for their own entertainment. Don’t give them what they want.”

“Elena…” Lily paused, feeling uneasy about this whole thing. She didn’t know what it was like to be a vampire, but drinking human blood to the point of almost killing someone seemed extreme. Animal blood was another option, wasn’t it? “That doesn’t make it right.”

“I wasn’t but then I was.” Elena shrugs her shoulders as she brings her hand up to wipe away the blood with the back of her hand. “Don’t worry, he was compelled, and he’s alive.”

Lily studied his face for another moment before breaking the eyes contact with a soft sigh. Deep down, she felt bad for him, but she’d even played before, and she didn’t want to let it happen again. “Then why didn’t you?” she asked, already knowing the answer. “You couldn’t leave, could you?” It was less of a question and more of a statement.

Lily didn’t watch the news all that often, either, but a certain story had intrigued her more than the others. Two rival companies, run by best-friends-turned-enemies, competing for the rights to a virtual reality video game. In what world was that not exciting? She couldn’t help smiling a little when he spoke. She didn’t want to act starstruck, but here he was, the man from the news.

“No, I remember you,” she said, hoping she wasn’t being rude about it. “It was, uh… J-One, right? Your company?” She had forgotten some of the details, but she remembered the general story. “You’re the CEO, aren’t you? Or am I completely wrong and just, like, an idiot?” She grinned, hoping it was the former.

Jinwoo knew that his face was PLASTERED all over the news and every tabloid available and across countless countries. As much as he wished he could hide from it, his name and his company were so well-known it wasn’t something he could AVOID even if he wanted to. She hit it right on the nail, remembering his company name and even recognizing he was the CEO. Would it be foolish to play dumb and act like she was in the wrong even though she wasn’t? 

A hand rubbed at the back of his neck as he gave a shrug of his shoulders. “You got me, that’s me, just — could you keep it down, I don’t want to draw any EXTRA attention.” It was bad enough that every single media coverage outlet was about him, but he didn’t want to be BOMBARDED by the press like this. He was just running a simple errand and hadn’t expected to be seen this way.

She could tell he was tired of this conversation. Lily exhaled sharply, then offered him another smile. “Of course.” She placed a few coins on the counter and was handed two cups of wine. She held one out to Ramsay, a nervous smile on her face. “Here you are.” She silently sipped from her wine, waiting for him to make the next move.

Well, now she was nervous. She tried not to show it, although her hands were shaking slightly. Quickly, she shoved them into the pockets of her pants, hoping he wouldn’t notice. “I’ve lived in the North my whole life,” she replied, keeping her voice calm and steady despite her growing anxiety. “I’m only… not used to the new leadership, so…” She trailed off, shrugging her shoulders and offering him a smile. “May I buy you a drink, m’lord?” Maybe that was a better way to go about it.

Ramsay watched her.  He tried to notice little things so he caught her hands so he knew better then to say something.  He could file it away and use it for something later.  But it meant that she was afraid of him and she should be.  “And?  So have I do you have a point?”  He asked.  “You’ll get used to the change in leadership we all do eventually.  “If you’re offering then I won’t decline.”

Now that was clearly a flirtatious comment. Lily let out a small laugh, a faint blush overtaking her cheeks as she looked at the other girl. “Must be because of you.” She couldn’t help herself; Finch was attractive, so why not return the compliment?

A soft laugh, like a giggle almost, escaped her lips as the other noticed the compliment she’d given. Well she seemed to notice the intention to be more specific. “Well, I’d hope so because we do seem to be the only ones around right now.”
