before  she  could  even  process, his  hand  is  wrapped  around  her  throat.  a  mmph  leaves  her  mouth  and  instantly  her  hand  grips  the  wrist  in  front  of  her,  tightening  her  fingers  and  free  hand  shoving  against  rios  chest.  “  get  your  hands  off  me.  “  she  snaps,  hitched  voice  as  her  esophagus  is  caught  between  his  grip.  not  first  time  being  trapped  by  some  she’s  provoked,  and  kate  could  possibly  weasel  her  way  out  with  a  curved  knee  or  throw  of  a  fist.  but  she  figures  she’ll  give  him  a  minute  before  she  lets  her  fist  get  her  in  more  trouble  than  her  mouth.

SHE HAD TO BE SMART ABOUT THIS. The agent had already built an incredibly colorful jacket for herself, starting with the killing of notorious serial killer Buffalo Bill, and tragically ending with the slaying of Evelda Drumgo. How she kept ending up with cases of this nature, she was not sure --- however, she was well aware that she was on her last leg with the bureau, and she barely made it out of that internal affairs investigation. She had a lot to prove, or rather prove again. Sitting in her vehicle, she watched Rio closely. She had been tailing the man for two days now, trying to help the DEA and the Bureau build a case. But, from what she could tell by his rap sheet, he had slipped through the proverbial cracks of the justice system before. She could not afford to allow him to be slippery again. So, she sat --- observed.

She made note of the distinct identifiable tattoos but she could not help but to wonder what he was doing in this part of the town. But then again, she sure was a long way from home herself. She gives brief though notable thought to the West Virginia plate on the back of her car --- sore thumb. After a while, she reigns in all unnecessary outside thoughts to bring her attention to the present; where it was needed most. Blue hues narrow, watching --- waiting.

emmy’s  done  a  lot  of  fucked  up  shit,  and  while  she  regrets  some  of  their  consequences,  she  doesn’t  necessarily  regret  the  actions  themselves.  she  doesn’t  regret  everything  with  grady  and  dacey,  but  she  does  regret  not  telling  dominic  about  it  sooner.  she  mildly  regrets  letting  their  shitty  games  go  too  far  and  practically  pushing  dom  into  a  life  with  lux  and  daisy,  but  everything  worked  out  in  some  fucked  up  way  or  another.  in  a  strange  way,  she  really  does  love  bee  like  one  of  her  own  . . .  this  doesn’t  apply  to  moi  and  meg,  though.

she  adores  bas,  she  just  doesn’t  know  how  to  express  things  normally.  he  was  a  spoiled  little  boy  at  her  hand  who  became  a  spoiled  asshole  that  she  feels  so  deeply  proud  of.  bas,  on  the  other  hand,  is  embarrassed  by  emmy’s  reputation  and  her  public  engagement  to  dom,  so  he  lashes  out  a  lot.  it  stings  a  bit,  she’s  not  gonna  lie  (  yes  she  is,  everything  is  FINE.  )

it  was  a  wonder  how  they  even  made  it  back  to  her  motel.  the  way  the  blizzard  outside  was  evergrowing,  how  the  scar  skidded  on  ice  as  they  pulled  in.  but  here  they  are,  and  kate's  quick  to  shrug  off  her  freezing  jacket,  her  messy  hair  tangled  in  snowflakes  and  nose  all  red.  eyes  trail  out  the  window,  watching  as  the  snow  already  begins  to  bury  his  wheels  several  deep  inches.    ❛  looks  like  you’re  stuck  for  awhile.  ❜  dead  panned,  eyes  briefly  meet  his  before  she’s  heading  towards  the  coffee  maker.  ❛  coffee?  ❜

Lily knew better than to ask too many questions, but she had never deal with a wound like this before. Hell, she’d hardly dealt with any wounds at all. She wasn’t a doctor; she wasn’t certified to do any of this. Maybe it was a test. The blood didn’t gross her out nearly as much as she thought it would. Slowly, she wrapped the bandage around his leg, looking up at Rio to see if he approved.

“Are you going to tell me what happened?” It was none of Lily’s business, but didn’t she have a right to know, since she was the one patching him up? It wasn’t unusual for Rio to be injured; what was unusual was him coming to her about it.

At first, she genuinely thought he was being sarcastic. At the realization that he was serious, she let out a light scoff, shaking her head. She tried to keep calm when he stepped closer; he still made her nervous sometimes. “They’ll pull over anyone who breaks the law. I can’t just...”

She was cut off when he announced he was coming with her. That made her feel better, more at ease, but also twice as nervous somehow. If she was unprofessional, he might even take away some of her profits. Still, she let out a sigh, following him. “Okay, sounds good.” She hoped he couldn’t tell that she was especially nervous now.

Five G’s was acceptable, though not as much as Lily would have liked. It didn’t matter; like he said, the more she did, the more she’d make. It was a fair deal. She reached up, managing to catch the keys despite her poor hand-eye coordination. “Got it.” She looked down at the keys in her hand, suddenly feeling a little strange about the whole thing.

“This isn’t a trap, right?” Lily asked hesitantly, glancing back at Rio. “I mean, there’s not going to be cops or anything?” It was probably a stupid question, and he probably wouldn’t appreciate it, but you could never be more careful. Her well-being was more important than pleasing Rio all the time. “Five G’s isn’t exactly worth going to jail for.”

he ducks his head at that question, scoffs an unabashed laugh. not mean as much as it is genuinely ticked. “aw, yeah, there’s gonna be cops.” probably not what she was expecting, but it’s the truth. rio’s sending her up north, past the mounties and straight into canada with a car full of fake cash. he steps forward and closes the space between them. “but why would they pull over a sweet li’l thing like you?”

rio cocks his head and brushes past her with the expectation that she’s gonna follow. “don’t worry, darlin’, i’m ridin’ shotgun.” which is to say, he doesn’t plan on getting arrested so she’ll be just fine. probably not as reassuring as he means it to be.

pru  cannot  fathom  that  far  ahead  in  time,  it  will  break  her  brain   -----  but  considering  she’s  been  weirdly  soft  lately  and  thinking  about  a  Real  Future  with  bee,  she  definitely  sees  herself  eloping  with  her  at  some  point  bc  weddings  make  her  nauseous.  she  really  does  want  to  make  it  work  and  tbh,  they  might  be  something  of  a  mirror  to  liam  and  fern:  driving  each  other  mad,  but  somehow  can’t  imagine  it  any  other  way.  and  pru,  like  the  rest  of  us,  is  burdened  with  attraction  to  kimber,  but  she’s  also  just  such  a  source  of  warmth  and  good  energy  that  she’s  just  happy  to  be  her  friend.

she’s  no  doctor  -  but  lucky  for  her  (  and  especially,  him.  ),  the  bullet  wound  on  the  other  seemed  to  be  clean  through.  lower  lip  is  brought  between  teeth  as  eyes  narrow,  green  hues  focused  on  the  alcohol  damped  cotton  ball  she  was  using  to  wipe  the  blood  from  his  skin.  every  now  and  then,  kate  flickers  her  eyes  at  him.      ❝        guess  our  roles  got  reversed  here,  huh?         ❞     and  it’s  true.  despite  rio’s  position  being  seemingly  more  intense  than  kates  ever  been  the  last  few  years  -  somehow  she’s  the  one  mostly  left  bruised  and  injured,  and  he’s  the  one  cleaning  up  her  mess.  her  gaze  refocuses  on  wound,  dropping  cotton  ball  on  bar  table  and  grabbing  the  bandage.         ❝        deal  go  wrong,  or  do  you  tend  to  get  shot  for  fun  ?         ❞

kate  doesn’t  indulge  in  drinking  often.  a  few  beers  here  and  there  while  sitting  at  the  bar  waiting  for  rio  to  discuss  whatever  job  he’d  give  her  that  week.  but  tonight,  she’d  order  more  than  a  few  beers.  for  no  particular  reason,  like  there  was  no  particular  reason  she  decided  to  drink  here,  at  this  particular  bar.  either  way,  kate  felt  a  good  buzz  going  -  and  it  was  as  far  as  she  planned  to  get.  never  really  enjoyed  being  so  out  of  it  she  couldn’t  process  her  own  thoughts.  so  she  sits  on  the  stool,  sipping  bourbon  with  forearms  laid  flat  on  the  tabletop.  his  voice  is  a  familiar  sound,  hell,  he  was  practically  the  only  person  she  communicated  with  at  all.  she  laughs,  bending  her  elbows  to  bring  her  glass  to  her  lips  and  down  the  rest  before  arms  are  crossed  over  the  table  and  her  head  turns  over.  “  you  know,  i  don’t  need  a  chaperone  all  the  time.  “
