A shitty step-by-step of how I draw hair

I made this for a Discord server and I thought that I could post it🤷🏻‍♀️ Because why not, I should post way often anyway.

Summary:

I start with a flat colour and then I proceed with building the hair from shadows to highlights. I work mainly under the line art but as you can see in step 7, I go on top of it to make individual hair strands. Step 5 and 6 might look very similar but I actually played with some colour settings. And in the last picture, I used layer masks. I basically copied step 7’s layer for 2 times and I think I went with add or screen. I can’t remember anymore, lmfao. Then I used bloom to make the lighting more intense and chromatic aberration. As a final touch, I edited the colours by using curves and colour balance.

Also! Seeing your drawing in black and white helps to see that are the values looking okay :)

Might as well sketch other favourite characters of mine with this style when I’m at it. Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi is just… [sobbing]. I love him. I love Obi-Wan and his sassy, posh being. Let me just.. cry some more. Don’t look at me.

Spoiler alert: There will be more SW characters but I am.. curious to know who you guys think I should draw when it comes to Star Wars. Or PB. Etc. Whatever works.

He ended up looking fucking adorable in my style, wtf. The tears won’t stop.

Did a shaded sketch of my current favourite crossover concept (PB x Star Wars) inspired by my love’s @comebackjessica amazing fic “Blue Moons”. In that one Alfie and Obi-Wan are brothers and Tommy is Obi-Wan’s Padawan. It’s one of my favourites and I highly recommend everyone to read it right fucking now. I might be biased but it’s genuinely a very good story, Jess is an amazing writer. So, yeah. Here’s my shit.
