I feel like I'm back in Reylo's time ! Because Reylo and Wyler are some of the softest ships in terms of enemies to lovers that I have seen and people act like they are some of the worst things in the world and that these ships are too hardcore for a general audience and calls us mentally ill for our thoughtful argument, which is ridiculous.

I have a feeling that Tyler spent his childhood not really knowing his mother at all. She was locked up at Willow Hill soon after Tyler was born and most likely spent the rest of her life there. Perhaps taking her own life because that’s the only way she could ever be free.

Tyler’s past behaviour prior to Laurel coming into his life signals him crying out for attention from his dad. Him acting out, hanging around people like Lucas etc. It’s classic tropes of a neglected kid.

And who knows if he really enjoyed killing. Another user pointed out that Tyler perhaps doesn’t enjoy killing, but enjoys having power over others and using it. He enjoys it because of how his life has been so far. Full of pain and resentment because of events he never asked for. And no one was willing to tend to him, leaving him vulnerable for someone as cruel and sadistic as Laurel. As far as I believe, his confession, and his sadism towards the killings is him taking out years of hurt.

Tyler being chained up in Willow Hill with a shock collar is unfortunately a sad necessity because I think they don’t want him to transform and that the shock collar is designed to exactly do that. The chains keep him from attempting rip the collar off more likely. And if the leaks are true, they say that he manipulates his new psychiatrist into believing his a good kid and that he shows no remorse for his actions, which is kind of understandable. He enjoys the power that was given to him by Laurel and wants to keep on that path because it was the only one in which he felt he had meaning. He is going through a very difficult place right now in which he probably thinks he knows what he wants, but doesn’t.

Wednesday’s actions in the last episode of S1 come from her being utterly humiliated over being played for a fool, not from the murders or what he did to Eugene. Keep in mind, she never showed the same animosity towards Xavier when she thought he was the Hyde. Morticia and Weems have both pointed out Wednesday’s flaws throughout the series. That she tends to get in her own way, and that she sees things from a narrow “black and white” perspective which can seriously cloud her judgement.

Hello, I'm sick because my period decided to really fuck me up this time. So i wrote this long essay about tyler on my bed because I've been wanting to sort out my thoughts and feelings towards him and his character. So yeah, here's why people who hate tyler galpin don't get the message of the show Wednesday:

I'm gonna make a VERY bold claim and say that people who hate tyler galpin just don't understand 'Wednesday'. Because tyler is someone who suffers the most due to the prejudice against outcasts. People fear and despise hydes due to their violent nature. But they can be abused and enslaved by anyone who's evil enough to torture them into submission.

Resulting in them living in secret, for fear of having their entire autonomy and being taken over by someone who could potentially use them for malice.

They are so far the most oppressed beings out of all the outcasts.

The hydes are rejected not only by the normies but by the outcasts as well. Nevermore banned hydes and refused to help them. There are some hints that WillowHill, the so-called "Psychiatric Hospital" is torturing them. They truly have no place to go, and society hates them for who they are.

Now imagine being tyler, you're just a kid, and suddenly your mom got sent to a psychiatric hospital for reasons your father won't tell you. Then she died, and instead of comforting you, your father stopped spending time with you and left you all alone without any explanation, in fear that you'd become like your mother, a monster.

You search for answers, and someday, a woman comes by and says she has everything you could ever ask for. But instead, she tortures you, chains you up in a cave, naked, for months. Unlocks a monster inside of you that you didn't even know you have. Forces you to kill people. You're confused and all alone and can't tell your dad because he hates you

Then your secret gets out to the public, they send you to the same hospital your mom died in. Chains you up, tortures you *again*.

Tyler truly has no one to go to, and as a kid, he must be really scared. Yeah, he seems like he's all tough and evil, but he's just a kid

When you're a kid and you're scared, you act tough as self-preservation. Tyler's "enjoyment of killings" is just a way to protect himself from the extreme abuse he's experiencing.

Wednesday is absolutely against injustice towards minorities and i bet you she'd definitely help tyler, maybe not in the 2nd season, but later down the line. So regardless of whether you are shipping them or not, wednesday *will* come back to help tyler. Because as far as he knows, he has no one. He never had anyone.

Guys, really sad theory/thought. It’s likely a shock collar on Tyler that electrocutes him to prevent him from transforming. So what if Françoise committed suicide by that manner. She tried to transform because she couldn’t take her imprisonment any longer. She tried so hard she ended up electrocuting herself to death 🥺

Another thing I will add is an opinion shared by Nightshade-Hq in which they believe that Tyler doesn’t enjoy killing, but enjoys having power and using it over others because he’s drunk on revenge after years of unattended emotional pain over being neglected by his dad and the loss of his mother.

Okay so I know Tyler Galpin has a very loving, dedicated fanbase who wants to chew Laurel apart for what she did so I'm curious if this would ever be a good idea to post. I've started writing it but haven't gone past the first scene.

I had an idea a while ago of a fic that explores how Tyler and Laurel's relationship develops from their first meeting to when she unlocks his Hyde, and it will, if written, include the more abusive aspects of their relationship, because obviously. You can't remove the toxicity from their dynamic but I'm not looking to! I wanna examine it, and play with it a little bit.

(and yes it will be at least a little whumpy)

I think you should write it. He’s very loyal to Laurel at the end, meaning it would have taken an extensive amount of brainwashing and abuse for him to be so loyal and for him to develop a taste for murder.

We know that like most normies in Jericho, Tyler didn’t have a high opinion of outcasts, but after Laurel reveals to him the truth about his heritage, and tells him that Nevermore refused to help his mother and that they reject all Hydes, he begins to hate them on a more personal level since he believes that part of his life was stolen from him and that all he has left is a distant and neglectful dad who secretly fears him. Tyler would have felt that he could have had a life of belonging inside Nevermore rather than the dysfunctional lifestyle he already had in Jericho.

This allowed Laurel to further manipulate him to her side by showing off herself as the only one who “cares” about him, by being the only one who showed him the truth when his dad kept it concealed from him. This leads Tyler to trust her and see her as a caring figure, which Laurel then uses to goad him into allowing her to unlock his Hyde, something that he is afraid of at first, but of course, after enough torture and enough killing, the inflicted abuse and the power of the Hyde messes with him psychologically and eventually makes him into something he should never have been in the first place.
