Closure of Turner Galleries

It is with mixed emotions that I announce the impending closure of Turner Galleries.

The Gallery opened in October 1999 and has operated as both the Church Gallery in Claremont and Turner Galleries in Northbridge for the past twenty years.

Combined with reaching a personal age of reckoning, twenty years of gallery operation is a good milestone on which to end.

RExPTP: Dr Eugenio Viola’s Residency.

Dr Eugenio Viola, Senior Curator at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, has now returned to Perth from his very successful residency in Taiwan.  This was the final component of the Turner Galleries’ Residency Exchange with the Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts (KdMoFA) in Taipei, where Eugenio was hosted.

This beautifully delicious artwork by Trevor Richards is titled Disc 4, composed of acrylic, vinyl, epoxy resin on mdf, measures 40cm diameter, 2018. The tinted epoxy resin gives the artwork a glass like finish that seems to glow. As the title implies, there are three others in the series, each a different colour. Some details and an install shot of Dani Marti's superb exhibition, "Blow", currently on show at #turnergalleries. "The Story of I Am 1, 2 & 3", consist of woven polyester, nylon, leather, suede and sisal on an aluminium frame.
