Something I noticed in season two - Monkey calls himself the ‘slayer of Davari’ when confronting the library guard.
It’s an odd detail, when we know perfectly well that a) Davari is imprisoned, not dead and b) it was Tripitaka who did the deed.
There are a few explanations. Like maybe Monkey was exaggerating for effect (definitely not out of character for him) or maybe the writer of that episode just forgot the details of last season.
However, I prefer the explanation that Monkey is actually protecting Tripitaka.
See, whoever defeated Davari is going to have a lot of heat headed their way. Even if demons have no particular love for each other, they can’t afford to let that sort of thing slide, especially from an insignificant human. If they ignore that, then all the other humans might start getting ideas. Even the demon lords of season two understood that, and they weren’t what you’d call insightful.
But if Monkey did it… well, he’s much better equipped to handle physical threats and he’s got a well-earned reputation for killing demons. Random demons are likely to think twice before taking him on, no matter how good the reason.
And honestly, if Monkey goes around claiming to have personally killed Davari, who’s gonna call him a liar? The only other people in the room were two gods plus the Shaman, who is probably not eager to admit that one of his devices was responsible for entrapping his boss. That’s the kind of thing that definitely comes up in your performance review.

“Many centuries before I was born gods rules the world. The demons were kept at bay. There was peace. The Monkey King was born into this age. Some say he was the mightiest of all the gods, with powers and skills beyond imagining. But then everything changed. The Monkey King was lost, banished by his enemies, never to return. All goodness was forced into hiding and the demons took over. 500 years later chaos reigns. The gods are gone but I believe in the Monkey King. Sometimes when you waited for something your whole life, when it arrives you feel scared. The warriors are here. It is time to find the Monkey King.”

Writing on The Font Demon’s Face
I noticed something while rewatching season 1 of “The New Legends of Monkey”; The writing on the Font Demon’s face changes at the end of episode 3, and from that point on the writing remains different.
In episodes 1 and 2, the Font Demon has a bunch of writing displayed on his face; it’s on the middle of his forehead and all across his chin traveling all the way back to both sides of his lower jawbones, but things change in the next episode...
At the end of episode 3, the FD is killed by the Monkey King, but then Davari (the Demon King) resurrects him. After FD is resurrects, he is shown with only writing on his forehead and not his chin. It stays like this, when he is shown again in episodes 8 and 10.
As of episodes 8 and 10, the writing is shown to still appear only on his forehead. Also, in episode 10 when Tripitaka awakens (NOT resurrects) the FD, the writing still only appears on his forehead.

the new legends of monkey - 1.2 the edge of nowhere
monkey per episode “I’ll do as I please, okay? Not what others tell me to do. I only take orders from Gods. And even then, only if I think it’s a good idea”

Okay, so we didn’t get many Tripkey moments, but I see this season as a building block for their relationship. They’re just getting used to each other, becoming friends, which is such a big step for Monkey. A HUGE step. They are wildly different which causes them to butt heads (especially regarding Monkey’s inflated ego) but they challenge each other, inspire one another.
Monkey felt so grown up in that last scene they shared. The lengths he would go to protect her was so sweet to see, and Trip’s declaration that she would sacrifice herself to bring him back was a wonderful moment as well.
Fingers crossed for a third season, because after that emotional goodbye, we be getting some good ass angst my guyss.

Davari: Anything you say in the next 30 seconds is free… starting right now
Tripitaka: I think you’re cocky, arrogant, bossy, and pushy. You also have a god complex and don’t think of anybody but yourself.
Davari: But--
Tripitaka: But what? I still have 22 seconds and I’m not done.

“I’ve only known Tripitaka for a day and a half. But if anything happened to him I would kill everyone in this room and then myself.”

Tripitaka, watching someone do something insane: wow what an idiot.
Tripitaka, noticing it’s Monkey:
Tripitaka: Oh wait, that’s my idiot.
