The Origins
Transdisciplinary research and practice is not an invention of the digital age. This alchemy of mind and heart has been woven into the fabric of our culture throughout our history.

Crossing disciplines: how and why
Human knowledge is an ever-expanding ocean of information. Throughout centuries, we have perfected our skills and craft, and organised our insights into disciplines. We train and work hard  to reach excellence in a single field. And that’s hard enough. But with the extremely rapid rate at which we produce and acquire information, our challenges are becoming more and more complex too. How do we solve problems in a world of infinite complexities? How do we create originally in a world of instant novelties?
Trans-disciplinary approach crosses disciplinary boundaries, connects specialisations and viewpoints to create holistic solutions.
It is a strategy of learning that is authentic and relevant to the real world. It addresses challenge in a systemic way, bringing together art, science, technology and society. It invites sharing and exchanging knowledge in order to innovate. It encourages learning through making, and through making mistakes.
It is about union, which is always more than one.
