Christina/TN Formally peanut-sky Welp, here is my personal and only blog, but you will mostly see pokemon, Tales of series, cats, books, music, decor, the occasional anime, etc. But, I will reblog anything cute, witty, and relatable to me.

Never gonna know them, but shoutout to the healthcare workers who are breaking the law to help their patients get life-saving care. I'll never see an article about you because knowing you would risk everything including jail time. Nurses who lie on medical records so their patients can get abortions. Doctors making up shit so their patients can have HRT.
Wherever you are, you are keeping your promise to help your patient.
#i do work in a lab. licensed mls#sometimes i see results and decide another test is needed so i run it#then if that result is normal then ill call the doctor and urge them to order that test#sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do#but yeah diagnosing first time leukemias (especially with children) is so sad#i often find them. my most recent was a undiagnosed t-lymphocytic leukemia in a 14 year old#even though im licensed we actually have to have our blasts identified by a pathologist before reporting them#but i unofficially will discuss those blasts with the doctor over the phone#its important because our pathologists only work m-f business hours. and an er is 24 7 so 🤷♀️#edit** if that test isnt abnormal**

So I meant to read The Trials of Apollo last year, but it didn't happen, and this year my brain needed a break and middle grade fantasy is always a cure. Which great timing since the Nico book came out recently. (It did help inspire what series to read to help get out of this reading slump An Ember in the Ashes series caused)
So anyway, I just finished the last Apollo book and just started The Sun and The Star and omg *swoon* I love it.
#the tower of nero was book 75 for me which concludes my goal#although i suppose the real goal is 120#but anyway its always good to read a sweet little middle grade book. theyre the best#after this i think i might read Red Rising finally#also also. i know im only 50 pages in but this is a contender for book of the year. instanly engaging and i love nico and will

I feel like a good shorthand for a lot of economics arguments is "if you want people to work minimum wage jobs in your city, you need to allow minimum wage apartments for them to live in."
"These jobs are just for teenagers on the weekends." Okay, so you'll use minimum wage services only on the weekends and after school. No McDonald's or Starbucks on your lunch break.
"They can get a roommate." For a one bedroom? A roommate for a one bedroom? Or a studio? Do you have a roommate to get a middle-wage apartment for your middle-wage job? No? Why should they?
"They can live farther from city center and just commute." Are there ways for them to commute that don't equate to that rent? Living in an outer borough might work in NYC, where public transport is a flat rate, but a city in Texas requires a car. Does the money saved in rent equal the money spent on the car loan, the insurance, the gas? Remember, if you want people to take the bus or a bike, the bus needs to be reliable and the bike lanes survivable.
If you want minimum wage workers to be around for you to rely on, then those minimum wage workers need a place to stay.
You either raise the minimum wage, or you drop the rent. There's only so long you can keep rents high and wages low before your workforce leaves for cheaper pastures.
"Nobody wants to work anymore" doesn't hold water if the reason nobody applies is because the commute is impossible at the wage you provide.

Frogfish!
Frogfish are small, stocky marine fish. They are camouflage geniuses and many species can even change color depending on their surroundings. Also known as anglerfish, they are lie-in-wait predators with lure. They move very slowly but also have the fastest strike speed on earth
