So in uhh...June of last year, I submitted a tag wrangling request to AO3, pointing out that Rafal's character tag (Il|Nil|Rafal) didn't let people differentiate between him and his brother. If anyone wanted to write fics set in the past where Nil was alive, or AUs where he didn't die, for example (both of which I did, as part of my Devastated Dynasty collection for Fell Family Week).

I assumed they'd decided this was too niche a request to bother with, but this week they added a new tag for Original Nil. Hooray! Will anyone besides me ever actually use it? Maybe!

Some truths about the publishing industry because I certainly got blindsided when going in. Now I'm so broken by this industry I struggle to encourage aspiring writers lmao

If you look at your writing and think “wow! This is some of the worst shit I’ve ever produced!” That probably means it’s actually going to be the best thing you ever write you just haven’t finished it yet

The two best reasons to ship anything are:

1.Incredible, deep and detailed narrative themes. The parallels that seem to hit just right, the narrative foils that they can be to each other, the intricate dynamic that's both extremely complex and easily understood. The juxtaposition between something that's harsh and undoubtedly toxic, with the softer undertones, the parts where you read in-between the lines and find a mutual feeling of loneliness from both parts, their intrinsic understanding of each other comes from the mere fact that they're each others mirrored reflections and shadows. In the end both sides will be together forever, and you as an audience can clearly see their tragedy laid out before in a path that blurs pure anguish and tender romance

2.It would be so fucking funny

Rafal: Hmph. I'm starting to understand why Mauvier cared so deeply for this child.

Veyle: What was that?
