Oh also, a rare Treehouse W imo is the changing from "Evil Dragon" in JP (at least i think it's called that?) to Fell Dragon because while they may seem synonyms at first the latter gives room to think that Fell Dragons despite their association with darkness don't have to be evil given the Fell Family exists

Yeah, but it was already done so in Awakening too since Grima in jpn is called Jaryu too, to which Robin makes a refence in his bond with Rafal saying he has the blood of Fell dragon too.

I think the reason why they choosed that name was because they are named by humans : dragon tribe are name choose/given by human independently of their true nature and they called Grima "evil dragon" because of how they saw him and did the same with Sombron and his tribe. This is also present in Zelestia and Mauvier's support where he says that she was powerful enough to be the "Evil dragon" so imo, just liek Shinryu being called "Gods dragon" it's a name given by humans rather then the actual name of their tribe. After all, Sombron himself used to be a normal kid until he lost 0 Emblem and succombed to despair and hatred and I think that the fact his children never succombed to this even though chapter 10 was Alear going through the same trial really fascinating on how they foils each other. Imo it's really more of the sake of elegance but you are right that's a win point for English as the word "Fell" could be read as their fell into immorality or fall from grace, a bit remniscent of the story of Lucifer you could even say.

And the fact that Alear isn't that bothered by being a Fell dragon isn't that surprising to me once you realized that what really worried Alear was to not be able to be a hero as clearly indicated in chapter 20. Once Sigurd confirmed they were still worthy of saving the world, we can see they feel much better and I think this support the idea that Alear doesn't hate their nature as a Fell dragon unlike Veyle but more how it represent their misdeeds, the bad actions they have comitted and how they have no power to be the dragon who save the world they wish to become. It's truly what I think is the most interesting about Alear. I read something about "non self" in Buddhism, and I wonder if Alear's indifference to their corporal form isn't tied to that idea.

As much as Veilguard is missing a lot, I’m grateful to have this little hand-made patchwork quilt of a game. It’s like the elements of Dragon Age I love stitched all mismatched together, and it’s not perfect but it’s still beautiful and lovely and eclectic and it keeps me warm, and it will for as long as I keep it.
