College freshman, Clementine has come with me to college, so maybe updates again? (Don't tell anyone I'm a band kid at heart- )(This is a mellophone/french horn blog, though I'm not the best yet) Elder horns please send help. (horn sideblog, main is @computerglitch306)
Don't wanna be here? Send us removal request.
Note
I misread your tagline
I thought it said sophomore 😭
Nope! I am a senior, Even if I may act like a senior citizen! I'm almost done with high school, and doing college prep things.
(Hey, college band kids, college students in general, how the crap do you prepare for this? Any tips, tricks and other wonderful things?)

Also!! I asked my groovy band teacher, and she mentioned that the alto and tenor Clef both point to Middle C! So the line between where the C's are stacked on the clefs themselves is where middle C should be!
Tf is the Difference between an Alto and Tenor clef
-New French Horn Player
So, I'm probably not the best person to ask this, because I don't really know, but from some quick research:
The alto clef is used primarily for viola, and middle C is place slightly differently,
And the tunnel clef is used for instruments like trombone and bassoon, and places its middle C differently.
Because I'm really bad at explaining placement, Here you go!
Also, here's some acronyms I made on the spot for if you ever decide that these cleffs are the way to go!
Alto: "I like your FACEG!" "Good boys don't frolic"
Tenor: "I DFACE a lot of property dude!" " Euphonium's got big dumptrucks."

Pspspspspspsps, your French horn calls you!
A melody you heard in a song that one time that you think you might be able to play, but haven't tried yet, calls you.
The feeling of your mouthpiece against your lips, as the buzzing fills your soul, calls you.
The part that still tears you apart, that you know you can triumph, calls you.
The French horn
Calls you
Aight imma practice on my French horn now can someone motivate me to do so instead of watching yt shorts 😚
#french horn#I love you so#It's been a while since I've played Nyan Cat#I miss it#I don't think I'm near the skill level I need to be to bring that piece out with a lot of ease#but maybe memory from undertale#well#here's until i find another cool music post to reblog

Marching season is almost upon us, and I have assumed the older sibling role this year. That being said, here’s your older sibling reminding you not to bind during marching practice!
I know you may want to, but it’s seriously not good for you. I know dysphoria sucks; I’ve felt it before, and I’ve been one of those that didn’t listen to the advice of my older sibling figure. It leaves lasting effects on breathing, you could crack a rib, dislocate or break one.
If you want an alternative, possibly wear a tighter sports bra. NOT tight to the point where you can’t breathe, but sports bras work wonders when you can’t bind. I know dysphoria sucks, but your health comes first.
#I will not be marching for senior year TwT#BUT#I'm in choir so I'll still be here simping over the current band kids#SO YOU AMAZING TRANS BAND KIDS#do not harm yourself restricting your body in any form#while i don't know much about tucking I'd advise against that too#Dysphoria sucks#as your local transmasc i can attest#BUT please#take care of your body this marching season#Listen to what it says#Make sure to limit the amount of cheese before band camp too!!#and other dairy!!#the heat can give you terrible stomach aches#HYDRATE ALL THE TIME#whether it's during your specific water breaks at band camp#or once you get home/ before you go#your body will thank you later#If you haven't looked at your instrument all summer#This is your reminder to look at it now! Play your scale a few times if you haven't#finding out that your instrument is broken at band camp is the worst#If you're beginning on instrument and haven't touched it#Make sure you do! freshen up on those skills you will need them#anyway#I'm not marching this season so I will not be able to be on the field#but for those non-existent people in my home band#Just know that I will be cheering as loud as I can for you#because I love all of you#(Especially what horn section we may or may not have)

#occasionally remember this blog exists#I've been teaching myself and this baritone player how to use bass clef#now#I'm clearly not as fast with bass clef as I am with treble clef#But I still feel very epic about being able to read both with decent ease#:D#Also#feel free to throw me any asks on how my sneaking into the band room is going

#can I come back after a bunch of inactivity with a saxophone appreciation post?#because I think that feels very right#also very wrong that I haven't posted in this long#I haven't had a chance to break back into the music room#however#working on this year's production for the musical#So I guess that technically counts#but that is besides the point#this person is absolutely rocking the saxophone#And can we please give some applause?#because look at them#they're having so much fun#It is so cool and I love saxophones so much#Yes#This applies to the instruments#and the people who play them#I have yet to meet an uncool saxophone#I don't want to get proven wrong!!!#But I just think saxophones are really cool

You know what, 14 days into 2023, and I have a genuine plan for breaking into the band room again.
Next Thursday, my band teacher should see a familiar face.
#not horn#I got paired with my band teacher to shadow this year#with her intro to band class#none of them have expressed interest in the horn#but she says that she's excited to have a student (wink) who can Read music and rhythms#So I'm sure that's something!!!!!!#either way#I've broken back into the band room.#I'm not leaving anytime soon.

Hey musicblr and bandblr, can we have a bandparent appreciation post?
For the folks who are genuine parents to kids on the band, who do things above and beyond to make sure that the band stays in working order, and occasionally gets their hands dirty by helping them out on the field when they can.
For the elder band kids, who looked at somebody and was just like, "yeah, you're my child now, deal with it.", And provide guidance and understanding to the younger player to help them understand how the heck to do the thing.
We love band parents here.
#musicblr#bandblr#I'm not quite sure how to tag this in order to get more reach#But like my band mom is so epic#she is an upperclassman that just saw my trembling sophomore of a self and just kind of decided#yes he is my child now#Even out of band. she's still in my corner helping me figure out how to upperclassmen#saxamom if you somehow see this-#MOTHER HELP!!!#- your favorite mellophonist

I'm taking out my French horn, and she's staying out this time.
#I haven't really updated my shadowing journey with my junior high band teacher#but recently I got a part that I'm going to help this younger French horn learn#And while I've been practicing on my sister's mellophone more than I have my French horn abilities#I think I'm going to get Clementine back out. she deserves it.
