Personality:

Natalia is witty, sarcastic, and has a dry humor. She’s adaptable and makes the most of her environment. She distrusts middle-aged men because they remind her of her father, whom she fears. She doesn't shy away from a fight and won’t hesitate instigating one. This is because she believes people are unpredictable except when feeling anger, she can prepare to protect herself if someone is angry.

Character background:

Natalia grew up in Baltimore, the second heir of her father's criminal enterprise - Neil being the first and main - in a five-bedroom house a couple of miles northwest of downtown Baltimore. Both she and her brother were trained to use knives and guns at an early age, by Lola Malcolm (their father’s assistant). While Neil’s training had not progressed beyond dead animals before he was taken away, Mary abandoned Natalia to her father so she was further trained in hand-to-hand combat, knives, guns, and the cleaver - with Neil gone she was to be the Butcher’s successor from 3 years old. At first, she rebels against her father and Lola’s lessons but quickly learns to obey - her failed attempts marked by cuts and scars all over her body and face.

When Natalia is around 10 years old, she auditions to play for the Edgar Allen exy team - the Ravens - like her brother did. She plays with Riko, Kevin, and Jean - #1, #2, and #3 respectively. She performs well and becomes Number 4 of Riko’s self-proclaimed ‘Perfect Court’ instead of her brother. After her success, she is moved immediately to the Nest with the other Ravens and rooms with Jean as her paired partner. There, different torture begins. Riko, believing Natalia to be the property of the second Moriyama branch, like Jean, practices his knife skills on her. 

From then on till she’s 13, she functions on 16-hour days like the rest of the Ravens. During a night practice, the scrimmage is halted because Natalia is called to the East Tower - where all the shady Moriyama business meetings and deals happen. There, Kengo Moriyama (called the ‘Lord’) and Ichirou Moriyama (called the ‘Little Lord’) ask Nathan (called the ‘Butcher’) if Natalia can be the next butcher. He says no but Ichirou intervenes and says he can find a use for her. Lord Kengo acquiesced and Natalia was transferred to Ichirou’s care. He asks her to be a spy in the Nest and report back any malpractice of deals and rules. Natalia agrees if she is to be trained in poisons and mithridatism. Ichirou accepts the conditions and sends her back. Every 2 weeks Natalia relayed the happening of the Nest without fail, until the Fall Banquet.
