YOU blog translation - May 14 2017 (2)
Since I haven’t noticed anyone translating YOU’s new blog entries (yet?), I thought I’d have a go.
PLEASE NOTE: Although my job does entail doing some JP->EN translation, I am in no way a professional translator, which means there will be some errors. These translations are primarily for my own practice, and for the enjoyment of any interested YOU fans. Emojis and punctuation have mostly been preserved as in the original Japanese. Bold text indicates something that I’m not sure about and need to double-check with a native speaker when I have a chance.
Seafood indulgence
May 14 2017
Everyone! Thank you for waiting (^^) How was your Sunday evening?
Finally I was able to warm my thoroughly chilled body in the onsen..
But I stayed in too long and got a little dizzy.. (^_^;)
We rested a little and then got hungry, so we headed off to the sushi train & seafood restaurant nearby!
To be honest.. There wasn’t even one house to be found in this area, so we were feeling a little anxious..
But we had success (^^) We were totally satisfied with the quantity and taste! (^^) Ahh, I feel so glad to be born Japanese when I eat something like this. The kinmedai [a type of sashimi] totally beat the tuna!
Of course, since we had seafood, there’s the obligatory..
Sake! Or rather, local sake! (^^) Savouring the local flavour of the ocean, along with the local sake.. What a luxury!!! Muahaha, it’s no good! I’m drunk (^^)
Since we came all this way, we were planning to go bar-hopping around the town, but we’d both eaten until we were full to bursting.. We couldn’t move (^_^;) Instead, we meekly picked up some things at the convenience store on the way back (^^)
[photo: convenience store purchases, including half-drunk red wine bottle]
Okay, let’s decide where to go tomorrow.. Researching the unexplored regions of Japan.. (^^) We’re chilling and drinking.
Ahh..
So full but can’t stop eating the senbei.. Lol
Have a great night everyone~ ヽ(・∀・)

Travel unit go!!
May 14 2017
Everyone! Thanks to you all, we’re in first place! Thank you (^^) Let’s keep it up! [Note: He’s referring to being ranked number one in Ameba’s ‘Musician’ category, aka the category his blog is in]
Well, I came back from Osaka and then I was immediately off again on another trip! For the first time in ages, our travel unit is back!
We set off triumphantly, but! Thanks to missing our train and messing up our transfers, we didn’t get to where we intended at all!
Well, it’s not an excuse, but we were so busy checking out our destination on our smartphones that we flew past our stop..
Yeah, when you come to these local places.. It’s normal for there to be only one train to transfer every 30 minutes.. (^_^;) It’s no good travelling with expectations of trains being like they are in the city..
The train rattled so much that I didn’t get a chance to use the cameras at all.. (^_^;) Ahh, it might be impossible to shoot anything today..
[photo: < Sato waiting for the next train (^^) > ]
Finally we managed to get on a limited express train, but when we arrived at our destination! Rain.. (^_^;) And, so cold.. brr..
[photo: < Feeling revived inside the warm train > ]
While we were on the rattling local train, we were a little hungry, so we had a light snack.. We thought, well, we might as well do a little sightseeing too, but..
When we arrived at the lodging.. The sea was stormy.. And the rain shower was getting heavier..
It’s no good.. Today was a fail.. Let’s go take a bath already..
Well, see you later on~~~

Like an Edison Osaka~
May 13 2017
Everyone! Today I’m in Osaka for S.Q.F’s instore event!
My roots are in Kansai, so of course Osaka is great (^^) I feel excited just being here!
I took the bullet train last night, and when I arrived at the hotel.. It was a shared room! Haha (^^)
It was my first time to stay here and I was impressed by how it felt like a condominium with the kitchen and walk in closet and so on (^^)
In the living room was a cool guy (^^) michi.-kun (^^)
We had fun talking about nerdy music things together (^^) We accidentally stayed up too late.
The first part of the instore just finished!
Thank you for letting us enjoy a nice relaxing time as always (^^)
My back is still no good (^_^;) But I managed to survive the first half thanks to strong painkillers Lyrica and Tramset..
Everyone, rather than worrying about me, please laugh at my awkward robotic movements instead (^^)
Let’s go have fun at the second half!

YOU blog translation - May 11 2017

Sudden disaster..
May 11 2017
Thank you for all your likes and comments everyone!
I don’t know if my taking a break yesterday backfired or not, but from last night my back was in bad shape.. This morning when I woke up, the pain had come back (^_^;)うぅ I couldn’t get up..
It’s weird, I hadn’t been carrying anything heavy, except for the wine.. I wonder if it was because I was sitting down all day doing work.. (^_^;)
I forced myself to get out of bed and look for some painkillers.. But I haven’t been using them recently so I couldn’t find any..
Ugh.. what the hell.. It’s impossible to walk with this pain..
Somehow I managed to put on a medical corset and forced myself to head out to a meeting. This weekend I’ll be in Osaka, so there are a lot of things I need to get done before then..
At the usual studio in Okubo (^^) As always, there’s a huge workload. There’s no one who’s better at track-making than him. I really take my hat off to him.. I think we’ve made a pretty good track this time too, so please look forward to it (^^)
We talked for some time about the current work status, had a meeting, finally ate lunch and then..
I headed to another studio for a meeting about the work from the other day.. But ugh.. My back.. It’s gradually falling apart.. (^_^;)
I always check out the equipment when I go to a new studio! Yeah, studios in Japan pretty much all do use the same equipment. I can feel a sort of ‘Japaneseness’. It’s nerd talk, but the Nakamura noise cut transformer you can see peeking out from the bottom right of the photo got me really excited (^^) The sound is really good.
Hmm, if the seeds I’ve planted come to fruition, it seems like it will be something interesting.. Yeah, I’m glad I could battle through the pain (^^) I’ll let you know when it’s ready. [Note: I’m assuming this is referring to music he’s working on..]
Anyway, today was hot! Just like summer. On a day like this, you really want to have a drink on the way home (^^)
Chef Izumi poured me a glass.. No, it was actually more than that (^^)
It’s the wine I drank the other day, but white. The red was delicious, so I expect the white is too. I’ll have to come and ask your impression again (^^)
Ugh, it’s been awhile since I had a tough day like this. It was like this every day during the tour last year, so I thought I was used to it.. Guess I’m not (^_^;)
Here’s hoping I can stand up properly tomorrow (lol)
Please look forward to this weekend! This old grandpa is off to Osaka!
Thank you for reading all the way to the end! Good night (-_-)zzz

Y'know G, no one is forcing you to post gratuitous dick-pics..
Or are they? Is it Takumi? Or is this part of your Nestle contract? Are you hiding a new coffee machine under there??

11.25 「love music」 recording report
dailymotion
Earlier this month, I was lucky enough to be one of 120 fanclub members to be selected to participate in the recording of the love music performance!
G&Lovers put out a call for participants about 2 weeks ago and you had to meet certain criteria (not be in high school/come wearing a school uniform, be able to bring the light sticks from the tour etc.), which I did, so I applied and was chosen! The filming night was actually on a work day for me, but my very kind co-worker was able to cover for me, so I was able to go.

(Fuji TV, Odaiba)
We all had to gather at the Fuji TV building over on Odaiba at 8pm to get our ID checked and then had to report back at 9:30pm. Most of the people were women in their 20s - 30s, but there were a handful of guys. I hadn’t realized at first, because I’m an idiot who doesn’t read emails properly, but we had all been randomly assigned a number which determined where we would stand. Mine ended up being #15, which meant the front row! (That also meant that you can see me fairly clearly multiple times throughout the broadcast ^^;; )

(Check out that dork)
Anyway, we all had our IDs checked and then dispersed to the surrounding shopping centers before returning at 9:30. We were led inside and into a room where they gave us some more details and we left our bags and coats before being led to the studio around 10pm.
The stage was in a big warehouse-type space, with one of the other sets used in the show next door. It was smaller than I had expected, and we were also much closer to the stage than I’d thought we would be. At that point the staff talked to us some more and explained what they wanted us to do during the recording and so on. They asked us to practise waving the lightsticks as we do at the lives, which we all agreed was hard to do without music!
Then everything was finally set up and Gackt and co came out! My good fortune with the standing position continued, as I ended up being right in front of the stage entrance-exit, so when they all came out they were literally within touching distance (which no one attempted, there was just waving and cheering). If memory serves me right, they came out You - Sato - Val - Chacha - G. Everyone was super-smiley, which was awesome to see up close!
As you can see in the video, they were all wearing the same outfits as the tour, minus some hair colour changes from Val and Sato (and probably Chacha, but who can keep up with that man and his hair?) As soon as G got on stage, everyone started yelling about how tan he was, which he responded to by saying that both dark and light skin are fine (everyone agreed).
He talked to us for about five minutes or so (bits of which can be seen in the video, in random order), where he mentioned a little bit about the Trickster anime (which I didn’t follow since I’m not watching it - bad fan, sry), told us that Kimi Boku is a sad song which made everyone cry during the tour, especially Val (who then demonstrated), and managed to get in yet another dig at Chacha about his age:
G: *realises he hasn’t put in his in-ear monitors* Hey, I’m getting old.. I’m 43 y’know!
Audience: EEEeeeeeEeee~~
G: But it’s okay, there are still people here who are older than me *looks pointedly at Chacha*
After a bit more banter, he finally introduced the song and started. As you can see in the video, it was a cool performance! However, what you see in the video is actually attempt number four (!) because he screwed up several times XD
The first time, he got through the whole song and then announced that he’d messed up the lyrics (I didn’t notice where). The members all went off stage again (and one of the girls near me got a high-five from Val when he walked past) and the staff had to quickly adjust the cameras and vacuum up the black feathers that fell during the second half of the song.
They then all came back out again to cheers and G did some more brief banter (”Long time no see!” “This is like dejavu..”) and started again. However, he didn’t even finish the first verse before he stopped again, I think because he wasn’t happy with how the vocals sounded. More camera adjusting and some ‘kawaii~!’s from the crowd (got the “I’m not cute!” which you can see in the video as a response) and attempt number three started. Again, he didn’t get past the first verse, and this time the make up staff came rushed out for touch-ups while he was visibly mouthing the lyrics. He didn’t seem particularly irritated or anything though, I guess having to do re-takes just comes with the territory. Finally, attempt number four was a success and is what you can see above!
The band left the stage first and Chacha handed his (pink) pick to the girl next to me, which was sweet (yes, ‘handed’, not ‘threw’, that’s how close we were!) G stuck around a few moments longer while a couple of promo photos were taken and then left to more cheers and waves. Everyone then scooped up a ton of black feathers as souvenirs (I just grabbed one) and we were led back to our bags and out of the building. I think it was about 10:50pm by the time we left, so altogether the recording itself took about 30~40 minutes.

(The card had our entry number and other info printed on the back)
Overall it was a truly special experience which I’m very grateful for and will treasure forever! It was so lovely to see everyone up close and looking so great. I messaged some of the members on their various social media to say so (and sent G a long, rambly email), and I hope they had as much fun as we did! Can’t wait to see them all again sometime next year!

Today's rather eclectic Kinokuniya sale haul 🛍📚💴 It seems my book-buying philosophy has gone from 'only buy favourites 'cos there's no more space' to 'single-handedly keep the whole damn store in business' 😅 #kinokuniya #books #bookstagram #紀伊國屋

From the Niconico broadcast:
(talking about Last Moon) Yoshiki: Oh, new album, nice. When was it released? Gackt: Last week..? I dunno.. Yoshiki: How many tracks are there? Gackt: Dunno.. (later on) Yoshiki: When did we last catch up? Gackt: ??? Also when Gackt and Yoshiki first met in Los Angeles, they apparently polished off 16(??) bottles of champagne in one night between the two of them.
