So I've taken a step back from Tumblr and most social media to focus on my health. I've also started an Etsy (JakkuJunkyardDesign) where I make replica hip bags like pictured and other odds and ends.

I also finally finished my staff after several months. It's such a relief. Now I can focus on my pants and other odds and ends.

Why do people still say “this doesn’t fit my blog theme but I had to reblog anyway”? It’s almost 2018. Who gives a fuck. Who even has a coherent blog anymore

OMG, yes. I started loosing my hearing at ten and since ambiant noise is soooo freaking loud to me, I can't hear people over chewing, running water, phone lines, etc. I really need people to look at me so I can pick up on lip movement as well. But goddamn I can hear a car start three block away.

Seriously. We also had a clock in another room I wanted to murder cause I could hear the tick-tick-tick as I was trying to sleep. No one else could hear it. But it was a murder including sound.

Also murder inducing: throat clearers, sniffers/snorters (blow your goddamn nose!), and other repeative sounds. Oh, humming. Lip smacking. Teeth clicking. Just don't. It's like a fire alarm in my head, cranked up extra loud.

Auditory Processing Problems

• *someone says something* “what?” *repeats themselves* “sorry?” *repeats themselves again* “pardon?”

•"hey, y'see the red thing at the top of the shelf, will you get it?“ “Sorry, what?” “On the sh-” “oh yeah sure, I’ll get it.”

•*doesn’t hear teacher because someone’s pen is making a scratchy sound at the back of the room*

•*replays video 10 ten times to figure out what they’re saying*

•teachers asking, “why do you always stop writing in the middle of a sentence, just write down whatever I’m saying,” followed by the response, “I’m just processing it,” rebuked by, “we’ll stop processing it and just write.”

•*gets really focused on staring out the window and goes through four songs without hearing a single on*

Molly Weasley is a mother hen. Totally would be like "oh stray boy, must help, also he needs food and I'm gonna knit him a Christmas jumper straight away!"

tbh the most unrealistic thing in harry potter is when mrs weasley in the first book asks “now what’s the platform number?”

like this woman has been going to that school for seven years and then dropped kids off on the same place for nearly ten like why on earth would she forget the platform number

Rey cosplays are coming along. Still have to do new Jakku pants. I started the tunic for TLJ...why does our girl have such complicated clothes?

Flaring Fabulous

So lots of stress at work these past few weeks with an almost complete staff turnover being staggered. And a coworker with a broken ankle. Then another's husband passed away unexpectedly.

My body finally gave into the stress, which was complicated by a nasty medication reaction that nearly sent me to the ER a few weeks back. Now I just have withdraw which feels like death. And that's with a careful stepdown.

It's all added fuel to the fire and I'm exhausted and miserable and hurting.

Best part? Back to back workshops tomorrow mean I have to get to work, be my charming self, and put on a great show.

Hot damn. I've been on Zoloft almost 10 years and I never knew not to take it with NyQuil. Luckily I stopped taking NyQuil when they changed the formula (never worked after) and I can't take most cough/cold meds for various allergic reactions otherwise, probably would've done that. As it is, I have to watch out for SS because I'm on two similar class drugs that my doctors are closely monitoring. Damn. When in doubt--ER, guys.

Remember kids, always check drug interactions before taking anything! Guess who has two thumbs and is in the hospital for taking NyQuil with Zoloft?

We Can’t Win

Being chronically ill is having literally every breath you take scrutinized. You’re smiling, laughing, getting around okay, maybe even jump or dance: “It can’t be that bad, you look fine!” You are stuck in bed from the pain, illness, & fatigue: “Just try harder, make an EFFORT”

Ya know what, folks? Just let chronically ill people survive their daily lives in the best way they know how. You are not in their body, you will NEVER know how hard they push themselves; how every joy, every physical action was fought for, how LOW every low actually is.

Because of internalized ableism we rarely, if EVER, show people our lowest lows. There’s an added pressure to be presentable, to blend in, to do things as independently as possible so we don’t feel like “burdens” or “buzzkills” to those around us!

Trust chronically ill people when they tell you their limits, they don’t need to “make an effort” they NEED a break, They’re putting their best efforts every day of their lives and it goes completely unacknowledged.

Chronic illness is a full-time job on its own:  

-Researching your illness -Organizing data -Arranging doctor’s appointment -Emotional/physical labor of said doctor’s appointments -Experimenting with treatments -Pushing through symptoms to continue daily life  If you’re LUCKY your doctor isn’t an obstacle in regards to attaining your diagnosis or treatment, If you’re **lucky** MONEY isn’t an obstacle in regards to attaining your diagnosis or treatment.

Chronically ill people are fighting for themselves EVERY DAY; even those with an episodic chronic illness that impacts their lives rarely and on occasion, they’re metaphorically and constantly walking on a tightrope, avoiding triggers, anxiously waiting for the next episode.

So next time you’re puzzled about how a chronically ill person is doing any particular activity or maybe you think that they’re only sick because they’re not trying hard enough… worry about yourself instead.

You don’t know their body, you are not in their body, you don’t know what it feels like, you DO NOT get to make that call.

So I'm been sick most of the month so it's the little things keeping me going. Right now, it's all the sewing projects. I'm pretty much doing all the Rey varations because why not? I also plan to do a Rey in Kylo clothes (2nd row, right side for my "basketweave"), a regular Kylo, and a dark side Rey. Again, overachiever. Finally did my shirt for Jakku Rey. Got an okay fabric to do the tunic from TLJ. (Original fabric is long gone, so this will be my test piece.) 3D printed blaster still needs to be finished up some. Test fitting new tabards. Will end up using snaps to the top of shirt and possibly stitch to elastic as well (hidden by belt) for extra security. TLJ boots from Po-zu! Been eyeing and saving for them for ages and got them on sale.
