It's such an amazing feeling when someone picks up on something in your writing that you 100% intended but didn't think people would notice. Like, YES!! Microsoft Office, like many companies in recent months, has slyly turned on an “opt-out” feature that scrapes your Word and Excel documents to train its internal AI systems. This setting is turned on by default, and you have to manually uncheck a box in order to opt out.

If you are a writer who uses MS Word to write any proprietary content (blog posts, novels, or any work you intend to protect with copyright and/or sell), you’re going to want to turn this feature off immediately.How to Turn off Word’s AI Access To Your Content

I won’t beat around the bush. Microsoft Office doesn’t make it easy to opt out of this new AI privacy agreement, as the feature is hidden through a series of popup menus in your settings:On a Windows computer, follow these steps to turn off “Connected Experiences”:

File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Privacy Options > Privacy Settings > Optional Connected Experiences > Uncheck box: “Turn on optional connected experiences”

NOTE: im coming back to painting after finishing school stuff, so ofc my first piece is gonna be figayda. when in doubt, paint your favs,,,,

i got a bachelor's degree!! it was stressful, the two weeks leading up to it, but i ended up getting a 5, the highest grade (except for a grade with honors), so that's cool.

thanks everyone wishing me good luck!! i really appreciate it :] sometimes i write these little notes, not expecting anyone to read them, so whenever someones does, it's both surprising and sweet.

oh, also!! i hc that ayda can hide her wings, that's why sometimes i won't draw them or they'll be just itsy bitsy.

If you haven’t started already, start archiving/downloading everything. Save it to an external hard drive if you’re able. Collecting physical media is also a good idea, if you’re able.

Download your own/your favorite fanfics. Save as much as you can from online sources/digital libraries. Recipes, tutorials, history, LGBTQ media, etc. It has been claimed, though I can’t find the exact source if true, that some materials about the Revolutionary War were deleted from the Library of Congress.

It’s always better to be safe than sorry and save and preserve what you can. Remember that cloud storage also is not always reliable!

Library of Congress - millions of books, films and video, audio recordings, photographs, newspapers, maps, manuscripts.

Internet Archive - millions of free texts, movies, software, music, websites, and more. Has been taken offline multiple times because of cyber attacks last month, it has recently started archiving again.

Anna's Archive - 'largest truly open library in human history.’

Queer Liberation Library - queer literature and resources. Does require applying for a library membership to browse and borrow from their collection.

List of art resources - list of art resources complied on tumblr back in 2019. Not sure if all links are still operational now, but the few I clicked on seemed to work.

Alexis Amber - TikToker who is an archivist who's whole page is about archiving. She has a database extensively recording the events of Hurricane Katrina.

This morning there was a nation-wide text spam campaign targeting Black Americans (largely students) telling them that they’ve been selected to pick cotton and will be picked up to be sent to a plantation after Trump’s inauguration.

People online are making jokes about it, but it’s genuinely a disturbing sign. Someone was emboldened enough to intentionally run a background on thousands of young Black people and send them racist messages the day after a very exhausting and stressful election.

my dnd party has run into an npc who may or may not be evil and may or may not decide to betray us and the dm was in chat today like “just so everyone knows…not addressing this comment at anyone in particular…his favorite colors are red and black…wink” so now i’m desperately trying to get a real physical friendship bracelet done before session tomorrow in the vain hope that i can somehow stop this npc from trying to do a murder on my party

My nerdy dad stumbles across Um! Actually on yt and becomes a fan

He starts watching some other dropout stuff (breaking news, game changer), “wow, that redheaded guy is really funny”

I tell him that those are the same people who make the dnd show I’ve loved for YEARS, but he brushes off my recommendation of D20 because of how long the episodes are and because he’s never been into Dnd

Like 7 months later he finally plays BG3. I receive daily ramblings about his character (he made a Druid and put all his xp into animal handling so he could befriend as many dogs as possible).

Falls in love with the roleplay aspect of the game (“it’s like I’m writing a book! They keep putting my guy into situations and I get to figure out what he’d do!”)

Yesterday, ten months after I first offered it to him, he finally asks for my Dropout login so he can try Dimension 20 on a long car ride

In less than 24 hours, he has listened to 8 hours worth and planned an entire dnd party with the other teachers in his department

I have never been so proud

This man spent my entire childhood indoctrinating me into his obscure interests and now I get to do it back

I think that Fabian would be the one to offer and attempt to teach Gorgug elvish but Adaine is the one who actually succeeds

Because while Fabian’s elvish is very refined and formal, and is 90% words that do not come up in regular conversation (he mainly learned from his mom and whatever Cathilda retained from her adventures), Adaine’s is very conversational, she tends to just slip into it when she’s muttering to herself, and she also just curses like a sailor in elvish any chance she gets

So while Fabian is trying to teach Gorgug the word declaration in elvish for like 3 days, Gorgug already knows every curse word and every word that comes before a curse word from when Adaine stubbed her toe that morning
