KEW GARDENS
Going to Kew Gardens is such a treat; meeting new friends while embracing nature. On the day we enjoyed a breathtaking orchids festival as well as strolling in the park where the first daffodils, crocus and primevera were pointing out their vibrant colours

timebanking
Not so long ago we all knew our neighbours and knew which of them
would do us a favour if we asked them for one - and our neighbours
knew if we would be happy to do them a favour in return.
Life has changed and our friends and family do not always live nearby and it is not so easy to ask neighbours for help these days, particularly if we do not know if we can ever pay them back.
Time banking is a rewarding and enjoyable way to bring people together once again to share their skills. Just like in a babysitting circle, people get the help they need and help each other out by taking turns to be responsible for some of the care and practical support that we all need from time to time - the only difference is that with time banking people of all ages and all abilities can join in and exchange a whole range of skills.
Welcome to the world of neighbourhood time banking.

breaking isolation
Time4 Southwark is very committed to support people living in care facilities to be connected to their communities. Some of our members set little clubs up like the Lime Tree Rockndknit.
Activities are good to boost socialisation and to break isolation.

Bring&fix
Connecting with other communities is another role taken by Time4Southwark by developing and delivering, co- activities and events with other organisations. The aim is to benefit more people by raising cultural understanding and facilitating social integration and valuing the diversity of people.
That’s the reason why we organised a Bring&Fix with Pembroke house, with some great stalls like gardening, computer repairing...

well and warm event
Not everybody knows it but cold homes have a significant impact on people's health. One of the best ways of keeping yourself well during winter is to stay warm. Paxton Green Time Bank organises each year an information event, with the support of ageUK Lewisham and Southwark, to talk about the cold weather issues.
Keeping warm over the winter months can help prevent colds, flu or more serious health conditions such as heart attacks, strokes, pneumonia and depression.

how timebanking works
The more people share their time and skills, the healthier and happier your neighbourhood will become. With time banking, everyday acts of kindness are recognised as the important contribution they are to everyone’s wellbeing. Time banking is a new and safe framework for people to connect up with each other, a letter of introduction to neighbourhood life. Five easy pieces 1. People list the skills and experience which they can offer and those that they may need. 2. Everyone’s skills are valued equally - one hour always equals one time credit. 3. Everyone agrees to both give and to receive help, to earn and to spend their time credits. 4. A record is kept of all the time credits earned and spent, ideally on computer using the ‘Time Online’ system. 5. Everyone is encouraged to spend their time credits to allow others the chance to make a difference and feel needed. Everyone can chip in what they can, when they can and be valued for the contributions they make. We have found that at first many people do not appreciate that they have skills that will be of value to others. We are all assets, there are no limits to what you can achieve together.
