Just a quick update! Iām almost done with the psds for the pirates of the caribbean film series. Instead of making one single psd for all of them, Iāll be making a psd for each separate film and post it as a psd pack.Ā
After this psd pack, Iāll be working on another pack for bollywood movies!

under the cut iāll be going from this:
to this:

PART ONE: CURVES
since i do so many coloring tutorials, i figured iād break down each of the adjustment layers i use regularly while giffing, to help yāall further understand how to use them for different types of colorings and not specifically the ones i do!
iāll be explaining the basics of the curves layer as well as showing how i went from this:
to this:
with just a curves layer!

PART TWO: LEVELS
firstly i want to say that reading these in order will be immensely helpful to you. iāll be referencing previous ones and assumeĀ in future tutorials you know how to use the layers i already went over.
in this tutorial iāll discuss the basics of the levels layer and show you how i personally use the layer for my gif colorings. this isnāt a layer i rely on too heavily (mainly bc iām more comfortable with the curves layer) and i donāt generally use it for brightening gifs (see the previous tutorial on curves linked above), but i just want it to be clear that it can be used for that even if itās not what i personally use it for!
because of that iāll also be describing how i took this gif:
and got it to look like this:
with just a levels layer. (if youāve read the curves tutorial this coloring should look familiar! i tried to make the coloring as close to the previous one to show you can achieve the same thing with either layer)

PART THREE: BRIGHTNESS/CONTRAST
this is gonna be a short one! this layer is super straight forward, but i figured iād still include it in this series since itās a layer i rely on quite a bit when doing colorful gifsets.
weāll be taking this gif again:
and turning it into this:
with our brightness layer. (as you can tell, this only brightens and doesnāt color correct!)

PART FOUR: COLOR BALANCE
i use color balance A LOT when i color gifs & itās mostly for color correcting, but i also use it for my vibrant colorful gifs as well to enhance the color. as always, iāll be explaining the basics of the color balance layer as well as telling you how i personally use it.
iāll also be explaining how i went from this (the end result of part 3):
to this:
with just a color balance layer!
