Almost makes me wonder how bad you think things will get! Like, we've got people dying, people getting hurt, people being on the brink of death, just oof. If everyone's predictions came true we'd be having Failsafe all over again.

i stg though if the end of this season just winds up being “don’t oppress people but only because if you do they’ll act evil about it :)” and every single oppressed antagonist in this show (maalefaak - mars, mantis - new genesis, dru/lor-zod - prison complex, probably more that im missing idk) winds up being a played straight villain when there are no protagonists who are willing to meaningfully challenge those oppressive power structures im gonna lose it baby lose it

like i remember watching the cadmus episodes back in ye olde 2010 when they did that one hour release thing and hearing that line and thinking ‘oh cool superman is mind controlled that’s neat :)” and then going back to glee or whatever and forgetting about it for a decade but. anyway. yeah the vibes im getting here are jor-el sent dru-zod to phantom zone for Serious Crime of suggesting reform, worked out a deal w darkseid to get kal-el to earth when krypton exploded (like why did jor-el know the yellow sun thing when zod didnt) (what’re you gonna do with that info jor-el huh) (you gonna conquer the galaxy?) (but only w ur descendants??) (i am BUZZING), history does what it does and zod is written as a villain, legion of superheroes is just junior cops with powers, i hate them, and i feel like gvt reform has come up so many times this season i just cant let it go

i just. i can’t stop thinking about this and im saying this with the manic fervor of someone whose middle school conspiracy theories have woken up suddenly and violently without warning like an ancient slumbering curse a rawr xd prometheon but “to replace superman should he turn from the light” sure would be a weird line if superman weren’t already in their plans right

i would say she met icon by stealing a typewriter from him BUT young justice changes a bunch of minor and major stuff that they could very well have a completely different backstory (at the very least raquel inspiring augustus is confirmed as the same but like nothing else)

this exactlyyy, it's such a wild story-telling choice to leave people to read comics outside the show's canon and guess which parts are yj-canon and which aren't, especially for a character's first non-comics portrayal. and *especially* on a show like YJ, which takes liberties (often fun but still liberties) with comics storylines, and which is hurting for more and better Black (and Black woman specifically) representation. Black fans of the show have said this already and spoken to it better than I can, and I think it bears repeating how frustrating (and insulting) it is to see her backstory and character, both rooted specifically in her Blackness, so glossed over in the show. She's a fantastic character and deserves to shine in her own context without us guessing about what that context is. It's mind-boggling ya know

anyway it's led me to read more icon, so i guess that's good but i think it's actually made me angrier lol

I made this ∼2 weeks ago a few days after episode 19 was released. I wanted to wait to share it in case anything changed in the next to episodes but we saw how that turned out
