Simon had a pretty high opinion of himself, but he knew blind biddings wouldn't say anything about himself, not really. In other circumstances, he probably wouldn't have done it, but since his mother organised the thing and that he was the only one of his siblings able to participate, he'd decided to volunteer and to bid on someone randomly, not really caring if he won anything. As it turned out, not only did he win a date, but that date also won a date with him. He really hoped the first date would be okay, otherwise it would quickly become a chore.
He was on his way to pick her up for their first date as they'd agree on that. So he parked his Ferrari at the address she'd given him and got out to knock on the door. "Take your time," he replied with a nod. Since they'd decided she'd chose how their first date was spent, he had no idea where they'd go. "I'll wait by the car," he added before walking back to his car. @teaganweatherford

Teagan couldn't deny that she had laughed just a little when she'd realized that she and Simon Hawthorne had won each other in date night bids; it some how felt a bit like fate was trying to tell them something. She'd been far too caught up in her own life to even think about dating over the course of the last few months, yet, she'd put her foot back in the dating world by attending a few dates, and she was excited to see what would come from these bid dates, even if it was just the foundation for a great friendship. The two had agreed that Simon would still pick her up which Teagan thought made him more of a gentleman. She had just finished getting herself ready when she heard a knock on her door, placing her foot into her shoe before she made her way towards the door. "Hey Simon." she smiled, leaning against the door frame. "Let me just grab my bag really quickly and I'll be ready to go."

"Of course!" Simon replied with an assured smile. He could understand why she would be apprehensive but he'd also been coming here for such a long time that it didn't faze him at all anymore. "It'll be fine, I swear," he added, raising his hands. @genovevaxmarrero

"You're sure this is safe?" Genoveva looked over at Simon before her eyes scanned the height of the wall. When she had agreed to join Simon for the elevated escapades outing, she didn't take into account that she'd really have to climb the wall. She was hoping that she'd be long forgotten but there were encouraging words from members that had her standing at the front of the wall, next to Simon.

Simon walked into the café, his usual air of self-assuredness practically radiating off him. He was here for one thing and one thing only: coffee. As often, he was in some kind of a hurry, but as he approached the counter, he realised that while there was no queue, some guy was in front of him, taking his sweet time deciding as if choosing between a croissant or a muffin was the most important decision of his life.
With a huff of impatience, Simon leaned against the counter, making no effort to be subtle about it. "You know," he said loud enough to ensure he could hear, "if you're going to have an existential crisis over a muffin, maybe it's time to take a break from caffeine."

“I’m not brooding,” Simon replied, folding his arms across his chest and looking at her. “But thanks for the analysis, Dr. Freud.” He looked at her for a moment, scanning her expression as though trying to determine whether she was here to irritate him or if she actually wanted something. “I’m not being rude either,” he added, his voice laced with dry amusement. “This is just my face. But you’re right, next time I’ll break out the party hat and confetti.” There was a beat of silence before he sighed. “What do you want, Esma?” @esmawalters

"Wow, don't be rude. You could at least pretend to be happy to see me!" Simon Hawthorne—a real piece of work. There was something about him that constantly drew Esma back. Perhaps it was his haughty demeanor that intrigued her; she liked bursting the bubbles of those who acted superior. On the other hand, she enjoyed unraveling the layers of complex individuals. Better to analyze them than to focus on her own issues. "What are you brooding about today?"

"Sometimes I do have to have some conversations with Julian that aren't fun but hey, no job is all play," he said with a little wince. He thought for a bit before taking his phone out to make a note of it. "Not a race weekend so I'll try to be around." Part of why he accepted Julian's offer despite the risks was the possibility to have a bit more free time, might as well use it. He vaguely pondered at her question but shrugged. "I'm alright, but I don't have a lot of news for you. What about you? How's everything?" @margaretxhawthorne
"I'm glad you like it," at least both of her siblings were seemingly happy in their career choices while Margaret continued to try to go above and beyond for a father that would never see her as capable of running the business. "It's the second weekend in November," she told Simon with a smile, "Thank you," she smile at her younger brother, sitting down next to her daughter, "How are other things with you? Besides work." @thesimonhawthorne

Given what he'd told Julian last month, to which new development had been added which didn't exactly help, Simon hoped things wouldn't be awkward between him and his brother, and his brother's fiancée. So far, things seemed alright.
"Next door," Simon said as he appeared at the end of the hallway, trying to get to his own room nearby. He'd seen the room numbers when Dana had picked up the cards and he remembered them, meaning that Haven had gone a little too far down the corridor. He stopped at the right door, "easy mistake," he added with an easy smile. He was aware that Haven would be on the trip but he didn't know if he would see her before the press conference or if she'd come for the race only. He had his answer. "Do you need help?" @havenbsinclair
𝘤𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳 @thesimonhawthorne
Haven hadn't seen a ton of Julian's family since her engagement to Julian, but, Simon was one of the many people that rule didn't apply to. Since he was Julian's manager Haven had a tendency to see him just as much if not more than she saw Julian sometimes; but she felt it was helpful to get to know Simon on a more personal level. At least to some extent. The race in Austin had been a nail biter, and she could only assume it would be the same for the Mexico race, though with bags packed, plane having taken off and landing in Mexico a few hours later she made her way to the room she'd assume was hers and Julian's, only to exhale when her room key didn't work. She shook her head, placing her hair behind her ear, letting herself sigh as she fought with it again. "I'm about five seconds away from going back to the front desk.." she spoke out loud, not aware that anyone was around.

Unsurprisingly, it didn't go over too well. He'd been almost tempted to try a smoother approach to the subject but tiptoeing around it would just make things worse and probably insult his brother's intelligence. Simon still arched an eyebrow at the accusation, not too pleased by it. "I'm just the messager, which you kind of hired me for," he reminded him but still decided to clarify. "You know I don't think that, you're still leading because of you and let's be honest despite of the car. But you also know it's not about whether or not I believe it. It's out there. From fans, sure, but they also say random shit all the time, but it's starting talks in the team and sponsors." He explained with a sigh. "It's stupid and it's unfair, but I don't think you're really surprised by it either. I just don’t want you blindsided. That’s it. People are talking because they want a reason, something they can point to and blame for any dip in performance. They don’t care if it’s true, they just care about what it looks like. And it looks like you’re distracted." He paused and looked at this brother. "Think about it from their perspective. You start seeing someone seriously, your focus splits, and suddenly the season isn’t shaping up the way you planned. I know it’s more complicated, that the car’s fucked. But they’re seeing a different story. And they’re worried it’s a trend. They’re questioning if you’re still as driven—if you’re still their best bet. They're looking for something to blame and your relationship is an easy target." Simon leaned back, exhaling slowly, choosing his words with precision but keeping a steady tone. “So maybe it’s worth asking yourself," he said, letting the weight of his next words settle between them, "what would you tell them if they asked you to choose? Right now, it's just talk, but soon, you'll lose any control you have left on those rumours and you know where that can lead." @julianxhawthorne
Julian's eyes narrowed for a split second at the mention that it was about him and Haven. Yet the older of the two brothers sat completely still, silently waiting for Simon to say whatever it was he had on his chest. The way he started already told him he wasn't going to like it, and when he had finally said it, Julian found himself clenching his jaws on one another. "I see." He uttered, casting his gaze on the table between them, scanning the surface as if to check if there was something on it that was of importance to him. "And are you some people?" He asked, dying to know if his brother shared the same sentiment. He wasn't going to bring up the fact the car's upgrades didn't work this year, whereas those of rivaling teams clearly did. Wasn't going to bring up the fact that he was, after all, still number one in the championship. "So what exactly is the goal of telling me? Chose one or the other?" @thesimonhawthorne

"Glad to hear it," he said with a soft smile. He was also enjoying having periods that were a little calmer. At his old job, down periods barely happened, if ever, and while he liked taking vacations, he didn't take them as much as he could have. "An adjustement period was needed for sure but we're at the very least nearing the end of it. Thanks by the way," he said, looking at her, "I don't know if I'd gotten the ropes this fast without your help." Rare admission from Simon but still true. @danaxallenlopez
She smiled at Simon as he closed the laptop in front of him. "I'm doing well," she told him, pulling out the chair and taking a seat in it, "Enjoying the bit of down time," though Dana was not without work, she wasn't constantly running around at the moment. "What about you? Adjusting more to the job?" Dana questioned him, curious to how he was enjoying the change in career choices after the last few months. @thesimonhawthorne

Simon couldn't help but smile at the little girl's clearly annoyed expression as she tried putting her hair back in place. "Sounds good," he agreed with a nod, starting to walk towards the place. "I really am," he said, genuine. "It's definitely different, can't lie about that, but I like it." So far, regrets wasn't on the list of things he'd gained by switching jobs. "Oh! When is that?" he asked. They quickly made it to the bistro and found a table. "On me, it's been a while." @margaretxhawthorne
"See, even your uncle Simon knows I'm right," she reached out to gently ruffle her daughter's hair with a bright smile. "Great," she nodded her head, "we can go to the bistro," she suggested to Simon as it was just a few doors down on the street that they were on in downtown Kismet Harbor. "How are you liking the job with Julian?" She questioned her brother. The two were gone quite a lot for his races. "I'm good," which wasn't a lie per say, "Taylor's got a school play coming up so we've been practicing a lot for that, too." @thesimonhawthorne

Indeed, they didn't know each other very well. They were more aware of each other, which might be surprising given that Marcel and Julian were close but Simon didn't always talk all that much with his brother's friends. "I haven't had time to try much of it," he admitted. "But yeah I'm famished. Let's go." He said, heading off. "Anything specific in mind?" @marcelvaughn
It had been a pretty long race but it felt good. He took a sip of his own water bottle and nodded. "Yeah, went alright." It's not like he had any pretentions that he would finish first or anything, so he was simply glad he'd made it to the finish line. Running wasn't even his favourite way to exercise. "So, enjoying the festival?" he asked. @marcelvaughn

"Yeah, I'm alright," he replied with a laugh. Simon never had to stick to any specific diet, he was careful and went to the gym on a regular basis but just the idea of having to stick to specific foods and all bored him, so he couldn't imagine having to follow a diet for so long. And while as his manager, he did need to remind Julian to be careful, he was going to be enough of an asshole right after this that he didn't feel like it was necessary. He sighed heavily, trying to find the best way to breach the subject. "It's about you and Haven," he started, knowing this would be the touchy part. "Hm, some people," and that he obviously didn't mean dubious fan theories, "are saying you're too invested in that and not enough in your career and it's the reason your results are where they're at." @julianxhawthorne
“You try sticking to a food regime for that long, see how fast you cave.” Julian replied, having decided a few years ago that sometimes he was allowed to ignore his limitations from his diet and go all out. He knew how to get back in shape with the remainder of that week. It usually worked out for him. When Simon began about having to tell him something, he looked at him again. His brows furrowed at the mention he wouldn’t like it, already giving Julian scenarios in his head of what it could be. Did he slip to his parents that he got engaged? Did he lose an important sponsor? Did something happen with their shared business? While the thoughts roamed in his mind, his expression stayed calm. Much like they were taught to from a young age. “ ‘lright, out with it.” @thesimonhawthorne

"Don't do that, your mom is right," he replied at his niece's eyeroll, although he was amused by her reaction. "Let's go for lunch then." He nodded before asking her where they wanted to go. It was true that they didn't get to see each other very much. They'd already been both pretty busy when he had his old job but now, following Julian to races meant he spent less time in town. "I'm doing alright. Quite busy too if I'm honest. How are you?" @margaretxhawthorne
On a simple walk, Simon had been a little surprised to see a little kid running towards him. He'd annoyed at first, as he usually was at people who let their kids run around in crowded places. Then, he'd been a little scared that it was his daughter, but he finally smiled as he recognised his niece. He hugged her and smiled at his sister when he arrived. "It was inevitable," he replied with a smile. "I don't have anything planned, so if you don't, I guess I have to accept." @margaretxhawthorne

Simon’s smirk lingered as Aliye lined up her throw, her confidence unwavering. When she asked if he was always right, he shot her a teasing glance. “Always,” he replied, cool and self-assured.
Her stubbornness to stick with the bet despite its risks was something he admired. As she took her next shot, which landed closer to the bullseye, Simon raised an eyebrow, impressed but unwilling to give her too much credit. “Not bad. Took you long enough.”
He lined up his own throw, landing closer to the bullseye. “Looks like that drink’s on you,” he said with a smooth, teasing grin.
As they wound down, Simon took a sip of his drink, the night falling into a comfortable lull. “Don’t worry,” he added, leaning in slightly. “I’ll go easy on you next time.” @aliyebalik
END
Life was always fun when Aliye had anything to do with it and a healthy dose of delusion always made it possible. His words were met with a grin, head inclining gently in his direction. "And are you always right?" she asked, sensing that Simon's ego might just outdo her own inflated one.
The admission that his taste could be expensive probably should have given her some pause in offering to pay, but it didn't at all. The concern over whether she could afford it simply didn't exist for Aliye. "Hey, woman of my word over here. If I lose, you order whatever you want to drink," she reaffirmed, not for a second willing to back down on the bet, even if she had literally every reason to do just that.
Picking her drink up to take a few more long sips, Aliye was hoping it would give her the extra boost to somehow magically get better going into the next throw. Especially when she saw the easy spin of the dart in Simon's hands before he let it fly to the board, again with success. "You know, when I find out that you're actually a professional darts player, I'm going to file a complain that I've been scammed," she teased, moving around a bit to hype herself up before her next turn. There was no real method to her toss of the dart, Aliye taking mere moments to try and pretend she knew how to line it up before letting it fly, this time managing a somewhat more respectable throw closer to a bullseye.

Simon side-eyed his brother at his words and sighed, deciding not to comment on them. If he was to bring up an uncomfortable subject, might as well try to avoid to add other ones to the pile. Eager to tell him wasn't exactly how Simon would describe, as he'd push that decision as far as possible. Now seemed okay, with spirits being high and the next race in quite a bit of time. "I'm sure you will. At least it's break so you can fully enjoy it," he replied with an amused laugh that fell through pretty quickly as he became a little more serious. God, he hated being nervous. Thankfully, it didn't happen a lot. This would be so much easier if Julian wasn't his brother in this instance. "Speaking of which, there's something I thought you should know and you're not going to like it." @julianxhawthorne
“The seats are fine, you sound like dad.” Julian snickered, seating himself by his brother. If there was anything urgent on his brother’s mind that he had been eager to tell him, Julian had not realised. Which also could have something to do that he was on cloud nine ever since his proposal. He was long glad he got to share it with Simon already, so he wouldn’t have to mind his attitude and tongue. He just didn’t want to tell his parents as of yet. “It’s greasy food, I’ll love it no matter what.” His trainer would be less friendly about it, but Julian really had a craving. @thesimonhawthorne

Before switching jobs, Simon rarely sat down at coffee shops. He was mostly there on his way to the bank and he left with a to-go cup. Now, since a lot of his work was done online, through emails and calls, much more than before, he did sometimes enjoy getting out and working in a café. It proved to be at least interesting, and he did so during this new long break, which, although put some halt on the race weekends, didn't mean he didn't have anything to do. "Oh hey you," he replied to Dana with a smile, closing the laptop that was in front of him. "How are you doing?" he asked. @danaxallenlopez

Dana had some free time and she usually used it to caffeinate herself. Typically, she relied on the constant running of her mind when she was getting things together for Julian and his races but right now, her mind was much quieter and thus requiring a bit of a boost. "She had just grabbed her coffee and was going to take it to go when she spotted a familiar Hawthorne sitting at one of the tables. "Hey, stranger," she felt like she hadn't seen much of Simon since the Hawaii trip.
