Cuz I need some help..

I made some cough syrup from scratch (I'll put the recipe in a repost if someone is interested) and I was planning to give it as a gift to some guests that were coming over, bc it's flu season and I know having a sore throat sucks. But my dad told me I couldn't give them my syrup bc "you can't give medicine as a gift" with no further explanation (I didn't ask him to explain bc be says stuff like this alot without something to back his claim)

So is giving medicine as a gift offensive or what? I don't rlly understand

I just ordered my first copy of the Odyssey, and I hope I got the good translation. I heard online that most of the translations had unneccesary misogynisic use of words, so I go the Emily Wilson translations since the same people reccomended her. Since I never read the Odyssey before idk what my opinion on this rrly is, I don't agree with misogyny but I ofc don't know how Homer wrote it so idk...
