Sera x Inquisitor Tiana Adaar 413 words

“I don’t get it at all…”

Tiana started slightly, looking down at the smaller man next to her. Well, everyone was small to her. The soldier was inebriated beyond belief and most likely didn’t realize who he was talking to. She was sitting alone at the tavern with a glass of wine, and didn’t notice the man lumber down next to her until he spoke.

“Pardon?”

“What do you see in her?”

Ah.

“You forget yourself, ser...” She mumbled with a smile, amusement tugging at her despite his display. Tiana was waiting for Dorian to arrive, no doubt he’s been distracted by some new magical theory that he has to crack, despite Tiana finally getting a night off for a while. She turned to look over her shoulder at Sera fondly, while she told a story to the chargers and Blackwall. They were all roaring with laughter and Tiana chuckled quietly, affection rushing to her chest.

“Beggin’ your pardon, your worship.” The man said with an exaggerated belch and Tiana stared down at him with her eyebrows lifted. “You could have all the bitches and nobles in Thedas and you pick...one of us...some underling-”

“Maybe because Sera sees the world beyond the best riches and highest nobles in the world. It’s refreshing. She’s never called me oxe mama, like some nobles-”

The man sputtered in his drink, snorting and choking on his ale. Tiana smiled in satisfaction and took a long pull from her wine glass as the man pounded his chest.

“Everyone says you’re too stiff and quiet, but you’re actually funny as balls! Going after that Sera girl, she’s a good sort, but really, what do you see in her?”

Tiana shrugged, she really didn’t have to explain it to him, he was already rude to begin with. Sera was an unexpected joy to her in this time. Tiana fell into the role of inquisitor easily, being a leader of the valo kas gave her experience in running a shit show and it was same old same old from there. But Sera was a novelty, someone that reminded her to to look at things simpler, to think of people under her, to have fun. She filled in the spots of her life that was lacking, or overpowered by responsibility. Tiana wasn’t sure the man deserved the real answer for “why Sera” so she chose the short answer, turning to look down at the drunken soldier.

“She makes me laugh.”
