"wake up, sweetie." melissa shook you awake gently, seeing the tears on your face. "mama heard you all the way from her room. were you having a nightmare?"

you nodded, spitting your paci out and reaching for you mama to pick you up. you were still crying, little scared whimpers slipping from your lips. "c'mere, bambino. i know." she sat down on the edge of your baby bed, pulling you into her lap.

"ma, scary." you hiccuped, hiding into melissa's neck. you were gripping into her eagles hoodie, scared to let her go. "i know, sweetie. it was just a scary dream. mama's right here, sweet baby."

it took you a while to calm down, melissa walking with you in her arms to the kitchen to make you a bottle. "mama bed." you babbled, your head resting on melissa's shoulder as she screwed the nipple onto your bottle.

"yes, you can sleep in mama's bed, bambino." she chuckled, patting your bottom as she walked back to her bedroom. "such a brave little baby. mama's got your baba."

she laid you down, propping your head up on one of her pillows. "open up, sweets." you latched onto the bottle almost immediately, making melissa coo a couple praises. "good job, bambino." she rubbed your tummy, watching your eyes get heavier by the second.

she took the bottle out of your mouth, replacing it with another one of your pacis. "go back to sleep, hon. mama's gonna be right here." she put the blanket over you hearing your breathing even out and watching you go back into a peaceful sleep.

Firstly, when Nine finds out about Rose's regression it's a complete accident

He just didn't knock before entering her room on the Tardis and found her in full on baby mode

She was extremely embarrassed, so much so that she considered just asking Nine to drop her back home so she could forget about the whole thing

Nine however, was completely unphased

He's a centuries old alien, he's encountered regressors multiple times!

So when Rose comes and asks him to bring her back home with this utterly terrified look on her face, he's very confused

He asks her why she wants to leave, has something back home, are Jackie and Mickey okay??

Now Rose is confused

She explains that no, she just assumed that he wouldn't want to be around her anymore after what he saw

He's shocked and assures her that he absolutely still wants to be around her, and nothing he had seen would change that

She was still the same girl he had been travelling with, she was still Rose

Rose is genuinely taken aback and almost starts crying because he's being so kind and understanding and she doesn't feel quite as embarrassed anymore

It's still a bit awkward after that discussion, but the more they talk and joke about it, the more comfortable they become!

Eventually, Nine just casually slips the idea of being Rose's Caregiver into a conversation, and Rose realizes that that just feels right

She agrees, and the rest is history

General Headcanons

Nine is one of the silliest, goofiest Cg's of all time

He loves playing games and making up stories and just generally having fun with his little

Which is interesting because Rose tends to be pretty serious or reserved when regressed

But she isn't with Nine

The two are almost always giggling about something or other

And Rose realizes she doesn't mind being a bit silly if she's with Nine

And Nine realizes he doesn't mind being serious or sincere if he's with Rose

If she's having a tough day and just needs to be held and listened to without any jokes, he realizes he can do that

He can and will be there for her, no matter what she needs

If she needs a fun distraction or a silly joke to laugh at, he can do that

And if she needs cuddles and reassurance and lots of forehead kisses?

Well he can do that too

Caregiver!Jack Skellington Headcanons

Having Jack as your caregiver really means having all of Halloween Town as your caregivers. Jack is so proud of you, brings you all around, and everyone loves you! 

The town has always been one big community, and all the kids are free to run around causing trouble and getting treats from all the adults. 

Jack is so tall you’re always looking up at him. 

He likes to pick you up and put you on his bony shoulders so you’re way, wayyyy up in the air! 

He’s always finding little presents for you: baskets of beetles and shirts with skeletons on them. 

Jack loves seeing anything you create: his house will be covered in whatever you like to make. 

Wants to learn all about human traditions, and is endlessly fasccinated by your experience of things. 

Takes you to see all the different holiday worlds, the different ways people celebrate life and death. But you always come back home to Halloween Town. 

Jack is… kind of scary sometimes, it’s the way he was made. He crouches at the foot of your bed to sing you to sleep, tells you bedtime stories about missing heads and sinking ships. 

Zero loves to play with you: if Jack has to leave you alone, he gives you one of his ribs to play fetch with Zero. 

Jack knows all of the old constellations, and the original stories people told about them: he’ll repeat them, drawing lines between the shining dots in the sky. 

Cuddling is new for Jack: sometimes he feels sad and just curls up in a little boney pile, and when you come hug him he’s super surprised and delighted and cheers up right away.
