Clap your wings Read the poem below By TheCritics ______ The crown or the Guillotine’s wrath The kind bless or the cruel curse Can you always choose and own? These witnesses and on-lookers Would you let them name you? Oh my princess, rise and shine Smile like never before! ___ The exalt or humiliation The moments of glory or the minutes of disgrace Can you always choose and own? Oh, these passers and watchers Can they define or frame you? Oh my queen, feel your heart Shed those fears and enchant like never before. ____ The ‘dead night’ may fade in night’s silence But ever had the sun failed to shower new hope? Hot summer or the furious winter Oh, they both shall pass The absence in heart shall soon be replaced Break that wall and take that leap Oh my love, hold my hand; let’s clap those wings. ____ #thecriticspoetrycafe #thecriticspoetry #love #hope #poetryoftheday #poetryforsoul #poetryoftheheart #poetryonhope #poetryofthenight #poetryhasnodeath #writingcommunity #writerscommunity #writings #writing #poetsofinstagram #poetryofinstagram #writersofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/BwkN4faBJ-z/?igshid=6cnoyxvi6pyr

The New Age Women Read the poem below By TheCritics The poem below is a mix of excerpts of various poems from my book 'I am a woman and I am an Indian' ______ Masculine stories, write no more! Damsel in distresses exist no more. Need no prince to rescue us! Need no superman to fly and aid! Stalkers can’t be heroes, not anymore No not in movies too. Chasing and threatening, never can win hearts And that’s the reality! ____ Beauty and shyness, oh reserve them no more. This masculine world will soon fade away For the new-age women has now arrived! Modernity, we define not in language or lifestyle But with righteous thoughts and deeds! Nepotism, androcentrism, stereotyping or violence Let them bend and bury With the Gallant walk of Elegant Women! ____ To protect our body and survive Oh, can no longer be our purpose! To live our life, to live it with love To pledge for change, and to catalyze that 'Alter' Is but our purpose Bold yet naughty, demanding and loving Ambitious but caring, inventive yet rational Oh yes, we the new-age women has come! ____ Step aside if you could not cope. Gives us the torch, and let us bear its light And we will fire it atop the mountain peak! Caste and creed, the misled traditions And these boundaries of folly Let them face our fury! Oh, run along if you could And together we will conceive the first equality! ____ #thecriticspoetry #TheCritics #womenempowerment #iamawomanandiamanindian #woman #womanhood #womensday #love #poetryoftheday #internationalwomensday #poetry #poetryforsoul #poetryonhope #poem #poemsporn #poets #poetsofinstagram #poetsofindia #writersofindia #writersofinstagram https://www.instagram.com/p/Buu9hQPh4R-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=14i8xbwdy1b1q

This whole universe Translation by TheCritics Translation of a renowned poem that is 3000 years old from Tamil Sangam Era. Compiled in Purananuru, and famously recited as 'Yathum oorae' this poem teaches us life through the way of living followed 3000 years back. Written by Kaniyan Poongunranar. I generally don't share. But who am I to share, not share great artists and arts like this. Read and relish ____________ To us, this big universe is our home; we belong and own it with love. All the men and women in this big space are our blood bonds and kin. The good comes not in gifts but with our deeds; so does the bad! Sorrow or comfort, we blame none and seek none. Death is not something new; we never fear it. The bless of living is never forever and we don’t crave it as happiness! Birth and death are just events to pass, we adore them both. Never had we resented this life as painful or pitiful. Grief, we take it and wait with patience, for it to pass. Like the raft that traverses with the mighty river’s flow. Our life is entrusted to nature and just flows with it! Wise men’s teaching, we keep them our soul’s guide. We don’t look up, to be astonished; we neither look down to despise For all those who are born and living were nothing but equals. ____________ #KaniyanPoongunranar  #philosophy #tamilliterature #sangamliterature #tamilpoetry #translation #lifequotes #lifepoetry #poetryoftheday #thecriticspoetry https://www.instagram.com/p/Bs3WwjQBiOA/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=177heod8urrv

The fire within our hearts Read the poem below By TheCritics Have a glorious new year with loads of love and happiness. Spread love and smiles as much as you can. _____________ The fire within our hearts burns deep, burns bright! With flames of desirous fury, glows its thirst! Can this storm or that hurricane quench its might? ___ The year has passed; oh yes so does our plight. Wise men and women, gone is our woe and worst! The fire within our hearts burns deep, burns bright! ___ Let this blaze go far and spread hope with its light. Let it take our skin, but enrich our souls' horst! Can this storm or that hurricane quench its might? ___ Good deeds and dreadful acts, set them alight. Let us decide their bless alone and not curst! Oh this fire, within our hearts, burns deep, burns bright! ___ Raise new and strong; for we should set it right! Oppression, its imparity we should burst! Can this storm or that hurricane quench our might? ___ Let's go wild and lets welcome new Sun's sight. Let songs of love be chirped and mirth be versed! The fire within our hearts burns deep, burns bright! Can this storm or that hurricane quench its might? ___________ #TheCritics Written in villanelle form (Nineteen lines with five tercets and an end quatrain using ab rhyme and refrains). MY CROWN OF LOVE Read The Poem Below By TheCritics ____ I am no soldier, the art of war I knew not. I am no warrior, the trade with death I knew not. All my years I had preached. Nothing but the 'Doves and Olives' These affairs of man Oh, when have I believed in one ever? ___ Dear, but here I am, holding swords. And waging a war alone! With armour clad and no army behind Against these many men before, I stand alone! The arrows pierce, but fail to bring me down. The swords clash, but only to break and falter. ___ I am bathed in blood, but I doubt if it's mine! The fortress looks strong But the bricks and stones can't hold you long! The jackals are waiting, and so do the vultures Oh, but they can wait longer they want For I ain't gonna fall; no, not today! ___ The path is rugged and filled with corpses! Dear, but have no fear, for I am shielded with love. I chose this crown, a crown to wear! I will see, hold and wear your blemishless love. Else, I will shout your name, loud and long Will adore the blade and fall here trying! ___ #thecriticspoetry #love #lovepoetry #poemsonlove #poetry #poem #poems #poemsporn #poet #poets https://www.instagram.com/p/BpTuqksBF3-/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ysm91p5o946q

Dear Bapu Read the poem below Let us all work together towards a country with gender and social equality. Read the poem below _________ Dear Bapu When I hear India, the first thing I remember is you. Through differences and diversity With regions of their own history and heritage With great languages and greater cultures If not you, who could have brought this nation as one? Years have passed since you left us. Your smiling face still alure us. Hope and trust; truth and nonviolence You teach us with your life. _____ Dear Bapu Oppression was your greatest enemy Untouchability, a rival you fought hard Harmony and unity, you preached untill last breath. But Bapu, I do hate you at times. Why you made this never possible country, a possibility? Years have passed, have we achieved real freedom ? Social, gender, economical inequalities and what not? Untouchability still exists Bapu!! Caste and religion still hold ground, Bapu! _____ Dear Bapu, A dependent economy and indirect slavery we live under! Nationalism, is but spoken only in public! Leadership here is in but running the nation With least hinderance for five years! In name of caste people get separated! In name of caste, honor (horrible) killings happen! Bapu, why you didn't dissociate your caste name? Well, no man is perfect, no man can ever be. But, you should have set that example too Bapu. _____ Dear Bapu You unified this nation against a foreign rule. Now the regions of nation are but foreigners to each other. Now, do they have equal rights? I doubt it Bapu. You unified this nation against social evils. And the social evils... they still rule, Bapu! Bapu, on your birthday gives us the strength. To fight against caste, to fight against all the social evils. To fight for women upliftment and against oppression And to unify this nation forever with equality and love. _____ Dear Bapu Don't ever leave us, tune us as you tuned yourself. Guide us as you guided us before. Help us build a forever unified equal nation. Happy birthday Bapu. _____ #thecriticspoetry #poetrylovers #poems #poetry #poem #poemsporn #poetryofinstagram #poetryoftheday #poetrysociety #mahatma #india #writersofindia https://www.instagram.com/p/Bob1UAKBquX/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=xw2w9j28dzi

‘Protestations of love’ By TheCritics An altered version of poetry titled ‘A Love Above All’ From my book ‘Life Is Bless And Love Is Bliss’. _________ Oh dear, ardent love Do not doubt or have fear. Our love is above all, and we are truly bonded. Believe me, I am a fanatic of you; only you. ____ Yes, my definitions of nation changed. I, no longer believe in these boundaries of man. But can that take me away from you? My first and intense love is always you. ____ In all these years, I have known you You give immeasurable love You neither demand nor blame! Anger or curses you never show. ____ At times of difficulties and rejection You held me and made me ‘whole’ again. When I altered, from the course of ‘our love’ You gave time and space for me to come back. ____ Tall and elegant; beautiful and vivid you are. Tales and history, for decades and ages you hold. Yet, you look young and alluring. With divine, naive smile you entice me! ____ Indus, Ganges and Brahmaputra honor you. The Himalayan Mountains crown you. Narmada, Godavari and Kaveri enrich you. The Eastern and Western Ghats make your anklets ____ The Aravalli, Thar and the ‘seven sisters’ Make your hands dazzle in glory. The seas of the east and the west And the great Indian Ocean adores your feet. ____ A mother of billions, but a lover only to me you are! Nature and wealth; culture and knowledge You enrich and grow. Oh! Can words even describe you? ____ Men and women, today celebrate your Independence Day! Innocent and ignorant are they! Men may come; men may rule over each other. But can one rule or own you? ____ Who are they to hold or possess you? Who are they to slave or grant you freedom? Let’s them have their thoughts, why should we care? Come let us just celebrate our love. ____ An elixir of life and love you are. A lifetime, will it be enough, to kiss and caress you? A lifetime, will it be enough, to love and feel your love? Can’t you just grant me immortality, to be lost in you forever? ____ #thecriticspoetry #poetrylovers #poetry #india #independenceday #love #lovepoems #poems #poemoftheday #poetssociety #poemsporn #writings #writerslife #writersofindia #writers #poemsaboutlove https://www.instagram.com/p/BmgfOyYhiKr/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=t43f76sghqs5

I was a King By TheCritics Read the poem below. The Illustration is by Steve cutts _____ I was a prince, the prince of my world. I was a king, the king with my rules. In concrete I lived, and in carpet I walked. For long, my foot, touched no Earth. __ The kissing rain, the love of moon The singing wind, the tunes from trees Neither I heard, nor I felt! My soul never danced, not under nature's influence! __ The torrid sun and the heat in air The changing climate and the failing rain I never cared, and never did I bother. For I chose my climate; in 12 degrees, I lived! __ I had some paper-the paper with numbers. I made some more-the paper with denominations. The paper in colours gave me my power. That paper called money gave me affordability. __ In trend I lived, in fashion I survived. The phone was old, I bought a new. The car was slow, I bought a new. The dress was not the latest, I bought a new. __ Food I had, not for my body's favor. Food I had, but for my tongue to savor. In consumerism I boomed. With consumerism I progressed. __ Gadgets and machines occupied me. Things I never wanted adored my home. None questioned; none could dare! For I was the king and I had the paper. __ A day then came, the day of reckoning. All my thoughts were then told -'foolish' The world of consumers failed so miserable! My kingdom had collapsed; my kingship was lost. __ Oh, I learnt my lessons, and I did realize. Affordability was not in that paper. But with my mother - The Earth's mercy. What did I create other than that she gave? __ The world of excess was lost in that excess. The trend has changed, it is to preserve. If you don't conserve and still chose to spend. The generations to come will suffer and curse. __ Oh, this Earth you don't own, but only share. Oh, this Earth you don't rule, but only survive in it. __ #thecriticspoetry #poems #poetrylovers #poetry #poetrysociety #poetsofindia #poemoftheday #poemsporn #poem #writings #writerslife #writers #writersofinstagram #consumerism #capitalism #earth

Friend From my book 'Life is bless, and love is bliss'. By TheCritics _________ He is not my dad, yet he cares. Cry I should, and I search for his shoulder. Laugh I should, and I seek his company. Troubled I am, and I look for his rescue. _____ She is not my mom, yet she listens. Hours of complaints and hours of growls And patience she gives back. She holds me and pats me 'all right.' ______ He is not my brother, yet he stands by. Scorching sun and wailing pain, we cross together. Stormy sky and authentic laughter, we cherish together. I trust and rely, more on him, than on me. _______ She is not my sister and yet stands by. Anger she shows, but never she keeps. Suggestions or advices, she is there to ask for. Midnight or mid-noon, she awaits there. _______ He is not my son, yet I adore him. Young I feel, when I am with him. I forget everything, when he is near. Worldly worries matters not, for with him, a kid I am. _______ She is not my daughter, yet I groom her. With her, the past never matters. With her, the future is never questioned. With her, the present is never resented. _______ Friendship is love, yet it never questions! Friendship is a bond, but not in blood. Doubt and jealously, it never sees. Friendship, a bless that makes life a bliss. ________ Happy Friendship Day To Everyone. #thecriticspoetry #poetrylovers #poetssociety #poetsofindia #poetry #poemsporn #poem #poems #poetscommunity #writerslife #writings #writers #writerscommunity #writersofindia #poetsinautumn

The School By TheCritics From my book I am a woman, and I am an Indian. __ Before reading the poem below, understand that rural India is different from urban India. India as many other countries in world is constantly tackling issues on girl childs education. One key isssue India face is menstrual hygeine management. India is still a country where kids drop out from school just because they reached puberty. ____ Oh, my mom is worried. I am sixteen and I never bled. Oh, I am worried. I am sixteen and I should never bleed. Two more years to complete the school! _ Every day mom prayed. She prayed that I shall bring no shame! Every-day I prayed. And I prayed I shall not stop school. Who shall ‘He’ – ‘the God’ hear? _ I know what happened to my friend. I know what happened to my sister. At sixteen and seventeen, they got married and moved. I shall not end here; I shall not end there. I have roads to travel and mount to climb. _ As I walked back the long road, By that dried-up river, I bled! Oh God, may you be cursed! You answered hers and not mine! _ I am prepared for this day, For, I always knew he will but answer hers. I hid and hid it well. I hid it for the night and hid it during the days. Don’t ask me 'how'. _ Toilets in school cease to function. Water and sanitation is just a name-sake. Every month, a test to pass! I hoped and I believed, I will endure and pass this year. _ Doctors and saints, I visited now. For, she, my mother can’t wait. No, not anymore! I hid from doctors and plead some too. I forged the priests and act worried. _ Months to go, and now I won’t quit. My dreams are near, and I won’t let go! I am well prepared and do know to handle. For, I am a girl and this society has taught me survival! _ #thecriticspoetry #iamawomanandiamanindian #menstrualhygiene #genderequality #girleducation #righttoeducation #education #lovequotes #lovepoetry #poetry #poems #poetryislife #poetrysociety #poetryporn #poetrycommunity #writersofindia #writerscommunity #indianeducation The painting is by Sudipta kundu. "A secret"
Out in the woods,
Beneath the bark of the great tree.
There lays a secret - 'A story of love'.
One, like that within our hearts.
The love of 'Cuckoo and the Mirabilis'.
Far from realistic, but intense and deserious.
Destroyed and buried forever.
Just like the love in our hearts.
Vowed and taken in silence, to the grave.

"Modernity"
The cloth you wear.
The car you drive.
The food you eat.
The gadgets you choose.
Doesn't define modernity.
Modernity is but
In the thoughts and mindset.
In the the stand for just.
In the voice of right.
And the fight against oppression
