gen z has to reckon with its radicalization problem. you are not a morally pure and superior generation of youth come to save the world, your men and boys are radicalized at an unprecedented level and you ignore it because it’s too hard to address but you have to. these boys are in your classes, they date your friends, you know them and you cannot continue to pretend this is an “old white guy” problem

Btw AI is never getting regulated. Big tech loves Trump. By the time anyone can do anything about it it’ll be way too late. And my heart BREAKS for the loss of creative jobs, the women who will be victim to AI related sexual harassment, the death of the usable internet and search engines, extraordinarily worse misinformation which will make the next elections harder. Etc.

Just thinking about all the easy layups the Biden administration just completely dodged. Continuing COVID stimulus checks, Making any effort to (even pretend to) re-instate Roe or provide any relief in that regard, Doing literally anything about the genocide of Palestinians. A completely headless administration stumbling past every easy W but still finding the time to condescend everyone.

I'm not American, so take what I say with a pinch of salt. From my observation, liberal/leftist resolve was greatly strengthened the last time Trump was in office. (In fact I'd go as far as to argue that his term ended up producing something of a genuine "left" for the first time in decades). It might be possible again, though this time we also have a Republic house, a Republic senate, massive misinformation campaigns on Twitter, and the threat of AI dangling over us.
By far, the worst indicator is that Trump managed to win the popular vote, which gives him even more legitimacy than his win in 2016. This is the spillover effect of leaving online radicalization unchecked. Young men who'd previously never had a single political thought voted Trump in these elections per the advice of online gurus. It's not out of the realm of possibility that Americans can overcome this and survive the next four years relatively unscathed. Have hope and stay safe. Grassroots organization is key. Closely monitor the young men in your family. Remember to be neighbourly and look out for those in your community who will be worse affected by this result. Mutual aid is your friend. If possible, set up alternative sources of information online - youtube channels, podcasts, Twitter, and IG accounts, etc. The vigour and stamina with which progressive/demsoc/ other liberal/leftists politicked during 2017-2020 were completely lost during the Biden years. We slacked, we got a bit too comfortable, and we shouldn't let that happen again. Talk to your friends, talk to your community - provide them with the facts, with the analogies, the metaphors, the examples, talk them out of liberal and conservative inertia.
Take comfort in the fact that he can't run again and that it's unlikely that the Republicans will be able to appoint a successor in such a short period. For the last decade, Trump has defined the GOP so they're bound to flail about without him. VPs also tend to fend poorly, and Vance and Trump clearly don't get along. Trump is much older and clearly has far less energy than he did previously. Eyes on the prize - November 2026 is yalls mid-terms, and you can certainly replicate November 2018 again. Do not fall back into the neoliberal trap of identity politics, and remember to reach out to the "rednecks" in the Bible belt. Those guys have some pretty valid concerns but have been greatly misled. Talk to them. They'd be excellent leftists if the left managed to address their anxieties. The neoliberal elite has ignored them for far too long. I'm praying for yall and for Palestine :)

Hate to say this, but this election landslide was much bigger than Biden dropping out, Palestine dividing the democratic vote base, etc. It has much more to do with the far right bent in US politics and proves that we weren't exaggerating when we said that 50s era - misogyny, homophobia, christofascism and neo-n@zism were doing numbers in the US. This is the direct result of the radicalization of young men (of all races and classes and a sizable number of young women as well). This is the first time in US history that the dems have lost the popular vote (even if you add 3rd party votes to their tally) to Republicans in over 20 years. I truly hope Gaza sees peace soon, but this far-right rot predates 2023 and only worsened during the pandemic years. Even if yall manage to vote out the Republicans in 2028, it's going to take a couple of decades to course-correct such high levels of far-right radicalization.
I knew this was going to be a problem back in 2020, especially when I saw how badly American libs began to slack after Biden won. When I saw how the Dems continued to ignore working-class, rural Americans. There's still hope though, and I wish my American friends all the very best. Praying for everyone, stay safe.

btw functionally for the US election today you are not picking your "hero" or whatever you are picking your opponent for the next four years because all presidents are bastards and they oppose the working class. you are simply selecting the one you can get the most ground on. this really helped reframe some stuff for me, hope this helps

If I had a nickel for everytime Nicole Kidman played a rich milf from a book to TV adaptation who lives in a wealthy-but- sleepy seaside town and somehow becomes implicated in a murder then I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's funny that it happened twice.

The Bridgerton BOOK fandom is a-ok with a genderbent Sophie because they enjoy fetishizing white mlm ships. It makes no sense for Sophie to be genderbent considering that her main internal struggle has to do with her intersecting gender and class identities.
They're ok with making Eloise a lesbian because according to them all angry feminists must secretly be gay. They're also ok with it because they hate her (borderline emotionally abusive) storyline and have a hard time projecting onto her.
The push back against Fran and Michaela has been interesting to say the least. They're trying to justify their homophobia because of "Fran's fertility issues" as if its something exclusive to heterosexual relationships.
Just very eye opening. Anyways, I'm officially excited for Fran and Michaela, my 2 pretty ladies. I hope Netflix at least tries to protect the actresses, and Masali especially.
P.S i totally get being queer and feeling like eloise is a lesbian. I personally shipped Creloise and I'm still hoping that that relationship will come to fruition. I am in no way referring to the accepting, inclusive show fans. I'm instead SPECIFICALLY referring to a section of white straight women on Instagram and Twitter who don't like outspoken eloise as much as their sweet docile little Fran. Its layers of homophobia and internalised misogyny all wrapped up together tbh. The instances I've discussed in this post are all things I've observed/ seen people who are overly invested in those ridiculously mediocre books discuss these last few days. The only straight bridgerton IMO is daphne😭😭😭😭

Just finished Bridgerton S3 and I have exactly 2 thoughts-
1) The true "great love" of this season is that between Penelope and Eloise.
2) the michaela reveal made my jaw drop, even though I knew it was coming
I also have a clear vision of what season 4 should look like episode by episode. Stay tuned for moreeeee

take a moment to read indian election news!! india has voted against the ruling fascist party. while they will resume government they will need to forge alliances and have lost multiple strong members of parliament. and all this despite them controlling the media and jailing their opposers! this is SUCH an important reminder that u shld never ever underestimate the power of a vote
