SUBMITTED REVIEW ::: THE BLACK MOONS

Self Titled EP

My Thoughts: Under their tags the band The Black Moons have the terms “experimental, lofi, shoegaze, and alternative” in which they describe themselves. Personally I see the band as if you too a bunch of kids who listened to ZZ Top and like bands and gave them an array of reverb and distortion footpedals and said “go for it.” They have a style that many people aren’t attracted to because of it’s dirty and slower pace in comparison to more upbeat and speedy tracks, but this does not deter true musical fans. The Black Moons surprised me with their approach to shoegaze and the influences you can hear in their music. Sometimes the vocals can seem sorta boring but for the type of music i’d say they fit. The final track on the six song EP entitled “Oh Lord” is one of my favorites because of the use of a keyboard that sounds like something straight from the deep 80’s. IN CONCLUSION CHECK these dudes out for sure, and see what you think of THE BLACK MOONS.
