Beef Stroganoff
There are so many versions of beef stroganoff and I feel everybody prefers it a different way. I've been on a six year journey to perfect my own recipe. I think I've finally figured it out.
Ingredients:
1 - 1.5 pounds of beef stew meat
1 packet of onion soup mix
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
smoked paprika, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder
1 can of Cream of Mushroom soup mix
8 oz sour cream
4 servings of egg noodles or rice
parsley
Part A - In the crockpot:
Combine stew meat, onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, spices (minus parsley) and 1/2 cup of water.
Cook for at least 6 hours on low.
You will have created a broth as the meat cooks. Separate the fat from the broth. Discard the fat.
Transfer the contents of the crock pot into a stock pot.
Part B - In the stock pot:
Stir in Cream of Mushroom
Stir in 8 oz of sour cream, going a few ounces at a time.
Taste sauce and add more spices to taste.
Bring to a simmer as a way to thicken broth.
Part C - In a separate pot:
Prepare your egg noodles or rice per instructions. Drain.
Serve stroganoff on top of noodles/rice and garnish with parsley.
