Recently, ACMI shared a reel on Instagram that displayed several sprite sheets and concept sketches for Hollow Knight: Silksong, and an individual from one of these photos caught my attention; one that happens to look like a grown Vessel. I have two theories on who this could be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My first theory, and one I low-key hope is true, is that this is a post-Infection Hollow Knight.
The eyes, the serrations, and the long horns match with Hollow's. It even seemingly has the cracks on its mask, too. The reason why I don't think it is only a fun sketch like the Knight's was is due to the horns appearing to be more serrated than they were in the original game, and the cracks seen to have spread in the same or similar way cracked glass would.
But here's the thing, the serrations are pointed inwards rather than facing upward like Hollow's, and they appear to be wearing a different cloak as well. This leads to my second theory: this is a new Vessel character. When considering that all endings to Hollow Knight are supposed to be equally canon to Silksong (assuming this didn't get changed between the one or two delays the game had), it makes more sense. We do know that some Vessels managed to escape the Abyss after the Pale King sealed it with the King's Brand, including the Knight (Ghost), the Broken Vessel, and the Greenpath Vessel, so it is possible that not only one of them found its way into the Kingdom of Pharloom, but also managed to reach a fully mature form as the Hollow Knight did.
Right now, I'm more leaning toward the second theory, but I would be surprised if it turns out to be the former.

There should be an achievement in Hollow Knight: Silksong where you have to listen to Lace conducting the entirety of Master Boot Record/KEYGEN CHURCH'S NEL NOME DEL CODICE album without interrupting her performance once.

I have been playing Hollow Knight, and I swear, the Hollow Knight / Pure Vessel is the most "Stephan Weyte would voice this character if it had/received the ability to speak outside of being infected" I've ever seen in a while, and I can't lay a finger on why that is the case.

Since I don't think a lot of people know about this lovely voice actor, I thought I might as well share a couple of links showcasing his fantastic work.

The sky ripples, stretches taught, then splits apart like torn skin. Light and colors he has no name for come spilling out of the great wound in the sky, but that sight, as blinding and brilliant as it is to witness, isn't what the Slayer's focused on.
No, his gaze is caught on what comes unfurling from that terrible, blinding brilliance.
He sees it as clear as day, and yet he comprehends nothing. It stretches for as far as the eye can see and beyond that into infinity, across worlds and through time itself, and it simultaneously compounds itself into a pinprick of warped reality in the dead center of his vision. A blinding, splitting pain wracks his head, his eyes, his mind and body and soul in a way that makes him aware of every single one of the millions of billions of trillions of squirming little things and protein chains and atomic molecules comprising every nanometer of his whole being.
It drives him over the edge of madness and straight back into sanity like the tides of the sea. And despite it all, its mountainous, unspeakable visage isn't what scares him the most.
It's the knowledge that as he gazes upon the abyss, it's looking back at him straight in the eye.

Doomguy was a DILF until the demons killed his wife and infant son at the end of Doom I's episode 3 when they were invading Earth. You can find this photograph on the floor in the Slayer's room in DOOM Eternal.
Tumblr media
The implications of this are really, really depressing.
Okay but why is doomguy a) Guts from Berserk. B) handsome?
Is... Is Doomguy a DILF by Doom Eternal?

Not to mention that it's just edgy and clashes with the efficiency his brutality is known for. It feels like a Glory Kill tbat should've been reserved for a bastard demonic despot instead of an actual war hero. It doesn't really help that the research botched the Slayer's personality and characterization in his own analysis section, too, but that's a whole other thing on its own.
I think it's okay for people to dislike what happens to Chief because he really hasn't done anything to deserve it. It just makes them feel bad.
I will say, Gianni Matragrano absolutely nailed it as the Slayer. I might honestly prefer his delivery on the "Rip & Tear" more than the one from DOOM Eternal, even though it wasn't that bad.
The new death battle was good but the main reaction you see on Reddit was that there was to much death like look at the name of the show you’re watching

To be fair, the problem is the method of the Glory Kill. It feels way too gratuitous even for Doomguy and way too drawn out. He's always been brutal, yes, but he's always been swift.
To cut a guy's arms off, snap his neck, cut him in half, decapitate him, blow up his body, and then stick his head on your Doom Blade like a trophy is so ridiculously ludicrous that it is out of character, especially against a guy who was just fighting alongside you against demons.
Hell, I don't recall Doomguy being that over the top towards the demons, aside from maybe some exceptions.
It just comes across as disrespectful, even if the team didn't mean to make it for that. I know they wanted to make a cool Glory Kill, but they missed the mark and made it perhaps too much and dragged it longer than it should, and this is coming from a Doom fan.

The Archangel and His Machine, V1
yes its based on 'Ivan the Terrible and His Son'
some in-progress screenshots/behind-the-scenes under the cut~
Sketching, lineart (which was abandoned eventually, as you can see lmfao) and basic color/lighting blocking:

I created mockup poses using DAZ3D, as well as using Dotflare's 'HD Gabriel' model and Xetirano's 'V1 model' as visual references for drawing some of the details correctly.
I modelled the background by hand in Blender and aligned it with my previously-created DAZ3D poses to get the perspective correct and kinda just...slapped some colors and perspective blur on it and called it a day.

This is about 12 days' worth of work, ish. I can't remember if I worked on it every day or not.

If you think about it, since the Final War is an alternate World War I, and because Russia never pulled out of conflict in ULTRAKILL's timeline, this could mean that the Russian Civil War likely lasted about a month, assuming the Guttermen were created around the time of the Russian Revolution.
I have no doubt that the surrendering Bolsheviks would eventually find themselves being used as fuel sources for their machines.
Yes, this includes Vladamir Lenin (Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov), the founder and leader of the Bolsheviks, who later became the first head of the Soviet Union in our own universe.
