Statement:

My Cabinet of Curiosities is a physical illustration of The Ballad of Tam Lin, a Scottish Ballad dating back to beyond the 16th century. The story centers around a young Lady called Janet who falls in love with the mysterious Tam Lin who resides in the forest of Carterhaugh. Janet rescues the young Knight from the Queen of the Faeries, returning him to the mortal world. While this story is not one that is commonly known, it has been retold time and again by musicians and authors. Collected here are ten songs, seven novels and a film which all tell the story of Janet and Tam Lin. Additionally, I have laid out items which I feel speak to the narrative. Together, this collection works as yet another retelling of the old Ballad.
