Piers nodded, glad she could agree it wouldn’t do to get in trouble while in a battle. Sure there wasn’t a strict rule but honestly with how crazy some of the abilities and attacks could get it was one most people respected. He took one of the balls from his belt, amazed that they would come through without his team but shrugged it off mentally. Not important right now.
The rocker looks up when Y’shtola speaks again and hums in thought, “that’s how we see our battles in my world. Don’t matter how good it was or whether ya won or loss, ya can always learn from it.” Though getting his soul transferred to a new world was certainly not something he was expecting to deal with right now. Or ever.
Thankfully Carbie provided an excellent distraction from his current thought process and he chuckled softly. Looking back to Y’shtola he nodded, wondering if his phone was here or would work so he could show the woman a picture of his sister.
“Heh, can’t say I ever really object ta talkin’ bout Marns. She’s talented with her team and is better than I ever was. Proud as hell that she learned from me and improved beyond me. Hell, she’s more outgoin’ than me too when it comes to battlin’. Glad that I didn’t completely screw up as a caretaker fer her,” Piers gave a rare smile at that though it was a bit pained, “she’s one of the sweetest kids I know, even if she is quiet and keeps t’herself at first.”
Y’shtola nods and listens to Piers speak highly of his sister. And he did indeed have his phone, but the cat lady doesn’t seem too surprised by it’s existence.
“She sounds like a wonderful young lady. I’m sure Darious can relate to your strong sibling affection though. He dotes on the twins a lot as if he was their older brother. And I know for certain he’s beyond proud of how they’ve grown. As much as their actual parents I’d wager.” Y’shtola says gladly, before looking to the entrance. “Ah, speaking of whom, he’s returned. And it seems he’s brought company.”
Indeed, Darious walks into the Quicksand with all of Piers’ team by his side. “Hey Piers! I got your team for ya!” He calls out smiling.
Carbie yips happily as they see the members of Piers’ team arrive.

“The rules in my world are different, ya aren’t t’join yer team battling yourself. Ya could get hurt pretty bad from some of those moves.” Piers chuckles a bit but could imagine just how strong Darious was just from that battle. He gave a low hum in thought about it again and felt himself slip downwards a bit. Right, he wasn’t strong here and especially not alone.
Rather than continuing to slip down that slope, he nods with a very small smile, “I’d like that. Maybe ya can come see mine too. Though… Guessin’ this experience must be how ya knew what happened to me so fast huh? In a way I’m grateful, no offense. Just better than lettin’ myself spiral further than I’d already done.”
It wouldn’t do to think about that when he was still teetering on the edge of a breakdown. Sure, he was much more stable now than before but damn, he was still pretty fragile at the moment. Instead, he grabs his borrowed guitar before strumming on it quietly. It was a thinly veiled attempt to keep his mind and hands occupied. It was pretty apparent that this was what he truly excelled at doing even from his nonsense playing.
“I’m glad this is reversible… I have a kid sister back home, Marnie, and I don’t want to even think about what she’d do without me. I’m all she has left in the world outside of her Pokemon and friends. She’s strong yeah but, she’s still just a kid that shouldn’t have to deal with the world yet.”
There was a knowing look and edge to his voice that spoke of experience. After all, he’d been Marnie’s age himself when he had to step in as her guardian and caretaker. “Sorry, shouldn’t ramble like that. Hard to stay focused right now.”
Y’shtola nods. “I see. Indeed, it wouldn’t be good for either of you to get in trouble for such a thing. I must admit curiosity though over the abilities of the creatures called Pokemon in your world though. When Darious returns with them, I will be curious as to what they’re capable of.” She says sipping her tea.
“We must use our experiences to grow, whether good or bad. It’s a lesson I always took to heart, but have come to greater appreciation of in recent journeys.” She says with a soft smile. It was certainly a crazy time to be alive in, in her mind anyway. Too many events that will be recorded in historical context to count really. But she wishes to discover more as always, and she has no desire to ever stop.
Carbie yips in agreement with Y’shtola, still cuddling and nuzzling up to Piers for the time.
Y’shtola listens to Piers speak about Marnie, before shaking her head. “It might help to speak more about your sister. It will likely help keep your mind calm. Too tight of a focus is more likely to put you on greater edge than otherwise.” She says to him.

Piers chuckles a bit at what she says but nods in agreement. Circumstances could be much better for this meeting to happen. At least Y’shtola was nice about it. He listened to what she says but nods a bit. It was true that Darious did seem able just… come and go… Maybe it had to do with that power that let him understand others?
“Yer hazard would be true. He just walked up out o’ the blue while I was with my team. We had a battle, not like… the physical fightin’ ya’d do here. He’s right strong with Carbie.”
The rocker gave a minimal smile to the carbuncle nuzzling his hand. It was good he wasn’t alone right the, it was helping him keep a level head. Thankfully he was pretty good at recovering during an emergency but damn was this time a harder comeback than most.
“I’ll admit t’wantin’ ta see Eozea but it certainly weren’t like this.”
Y’shtola chuckles at a bit. “That sounds like him. Carbuncle, or Carbie, is actually quite strong even for those like the little one. In a one on one fight with him though, I’d hardly want to be on the receiving end. He’s actually the strongest warrior I know, and to be fair, that’s saying something.” She says, as she’s served a tea cup, and she tanks the server. She takes a sip of it.
“I’m surprised he didn’t end up joining in the battle himself. Or perhaps it was before developed his new techniques.” She muses aloud. “Regardless, if I learn how to properly travel between worlds, I’ll be sure to invite you back for a proper tour. One where you’re not wrongfully whisked away against your will. It’s certainly not an enjoyable feeling, speaking from experience.” She says with a slight sigh.
Carbie shivers a bit when Y’shtola talks about that. He knows exactly what she’s referring to, and he had to experience it with Darious every time too.

When Carbie gives consent to petting the rocker begins to do so but was careful to not hurt the little fox like creature. It was giving him something to focus on and he found himself calming, relatively, and breathing began to ease back into something more normal. Looking up as Darious speaks again he blinks a few times before understanding dawns and he seems almost hopeful.
“If… If ya can… If ya can’t I’ll… figure somethin’ out alright?” He sighs and calms down enough look more stable before he stares at Y’shtola when she speaks, “wouldn’t say that anymore… Not everythin’ but I understood what ya just said then.”
Then the former leader is watching Darious leave and he breaths a few more times to fully calm down and nods. Right. Okay. Everything would be fine, he wasn’t alone in this world at least. Marnie would be fine until he got back, so he had to be fine until then too. For now, he would just have to use all his wits and new friends to get by.
“So, yer, forgive my butcherin’, but yer Y’shtola yeh? Name’s Piers.”
Y’shtola looks surprised, but does smile. “Indeed I am. A pleasure to meet you Piers. Shame it could not have been under better circumstances.” She says, before taking Darious’ seat.
“As I’m sure Darious explained, I’ve been researching how to travel between the dimensional rift. Darious, of course being himself, is able to simply randomly move between it. How he does this, even I’m not sure. He does make for a good study partner for it however. Case in point, the fact he’s met you before you came here.” She says.
“I must admit some curiosity, how did you come to know him? I would hazard a guess you found him simply wandering around lost, as is his way.” She muses.
Carbie nuzzles into Piers hand some more to help keep him calm.

Piers was still shaking and trying incredibly hard to not break down in the middle of the tavern. That would be embarrassing. This was something he had no idea of how to handle and it was so overwhelming. Arceus this was too much. He was starting to breath more normally right up until Darious spoke up about how his team wouldn’t actually be here. That broke him and his breathing started to rapidly increase. He hadn’t been without his team since he’d befriended them after all.
“I… I … I’ve never fought… physically… With weapons.”
The musician can barely hear them over his racing heartbeat, finger tugging hard on his choker’s charm in anxiety. However when Darious speaks and he sort of understands some words and blinks a few times but doesn’t focus on that yet, he wasn’t prepared for that. Instead he looked to Carbie and held out a very very shaky hand to see if they wanted pets. It would certainly help out the musician right then.
Darious winces at Piers’ reaction, while Carbuncle nuzzles into Piers shaky hand. Darious looks pensive as he tries to think of what he can do to help. Then he looks like gets an idea. “I...might be able t get your Pokemon for you. I’ll need a bit to prepare it, but I promise, I’ll get them for you okay?” Darious says gently laying a hand on Piers. He speaks with sincerity and purpose. Whatever he has planned, he seems determined to see it through.
“Do you plan on using-” Piers hears Y’shtola speaking, but the last words are unintelligible. Darious nods, to which Y’shtola sighs. “Very well. I will stay here, and try to calm him down. Not sure how good I can do, due to the language barrier, but I shall endavour.” She continues. It seems like for the most part, Piers can now understand the language.
“Thanks. Carbie, stay with Piers too. I’ll be right back, I promise.” He says before he runs out the Quicksand.

Piers blinks once at the sight of her eyes but then he’s looking more nervous as he’s examined. Ooookay? Obviously not blind even if she looks it. The rocker manages to hold still for her even as he wants to flinch away. Thankfully the exam ended fairly quickly before she’s likely explaining something. He didn’t bother trying to understand having no clue what any of what was being said was, it didn’t sound good from Darious’ reactions though.
“Wait what…? I’m not actually here but I am…? Wait wait wait, what’s happened t’my body then?” Was he just… dead back home?! Panic began to prickle through his mind at that thought. Then he tried to remember where he even had been when this happened, cause if it was in the Wild Area that could be problematic. However, what he manages to piece together was that he’d been performing in Spikemuth for the townsfolk. At least he was in good hands then even if the entire community began to freak out.
“… Okay… Okay so, I was summoned by some nutter for reasons we don’t know an’ we just ‘ave to beat them up to send me back? This is nuts but at least ya know what happened t’me. Just glad that my body is in my town back home.”
Hopefully his little sister wasn’t completely losing her mind with worry over him if he just collapsed while playing. Okay yeah she was probably losing it.
Darious nods. “Don’t worry. If for whatever reason that doesn’t work, I can help with fixing the rest. We have directly dealt with this before, and know how exactly to fix it.” He says with a nod before standing up. He then seems to realize something. “Uhhh...wait, that means your Pokemon are likely back home too. Shoot, you’re gonna want something to defend yourself while out here.” He muses. “Are there any weapon types you think you might be good with?” He then asks with a sheepish grin.
Y’shtola rolls her eyes and says something. Piers still doesn’t understand it, but she says it with a sassy look in her eyes.
Darious retorts with a shrug, and...for some reason, it makes more sense to Piers now? He can make out the words ‘Not...options...for him.’ Is spending more time listening to the language alone improving his understanding?
Carbie meanwhile is just resting with Piers for now.

Piers is vaguely aware of the attention he receives while playing but doesn’t seem to mind it. Hell, he thrived on this kind of attention, where people were enjoying the music he played. It helped assure him he was doing something right. Besides, it was fun to think of new ways to play his songs.
“Y’know it mate, just a humble singer singin’ a humble song,” he quoted his own song with a small grin before continuing, “but yeh, it can be kind of annoyin’ bein in that spolight back home. Pro’ly here too.”
It certainly made doing normal things a challenge like shopping for his little sister or groceries. For now though he hums in thought when he’s helped with the food items. Ordering something that sounds appetizing he sighs that’s not a huge portion. Even so, he only finishes about half given his naturally small appetite. Something that probably wasn’t truly healthy.
After eating and while waiting, the musician is playing a few more songs to keep his stress levels from mounting too high and is appreciative that the people here are enjoying his music even if they can’t understand the lyrics. Thankfully, Darious’ friend appears right at the end of his latest song and looks up to her as she approaches and waves too.
“She won’t understand me will she? Hope ya don’t mind bein’ a translator Dars.”
“Probably not, but don’t worry, I can translate it just fine.” Darious says smiling.
Eventually Y’shtola comes over, and is immediately looking over Piers. Her eyes are a bit off, they seem to be a bit...glazed over, like she’s blind. Yet she walks around and examines him just fine. After a bit of that, she turns to Darious and begins speaking the same language as before. As she explains, Darious makes some audible sighs and groans. Before long, he turns back to Piers.
“So, here’s the deal. You’re not...actually here so to speak? Your soul is, and it was dense enough coming over that it formed your body. And clothes too thankfully. Your body is back home in your world. What this means though, is someone likely summoned you over here for some reason. So, we just have to find the jackwagon and smack them up for it. We’ve experienced this exact thing before, so don’t worry, we can fix it.” He says calmly.

Piers couldn’t help but give a few chuckles at Darious’ reactions. It wasn’t like he could help but sound braggy when saying that. And it took a lot of willpower to not stare openly. Then again, he did have practice with interacting with someone who’d saved the world back home. Hopefully everyone there was still doing good.
“That’s impressive mate, with how strong ya are fightin’ I’m not too surprised to learn that. As for the recognition I understand that. Without sounding like I’m bragging back but I am a rock star back home along with a former Gym Leader… Hard t’not be noticed, y’know?”
He chuckles again as the other man rushes into the establishment and follows him over to an empty table. Once seated and his breath caught up, Piers began to tune the guitar he was borrowing. When he was satisfied the musician began to play a simplified version of one of his more popular songs. It was an adjustment to play it on an acoustic but it still sounded superb.
Darious smiles and listens to the song happily. The patrons look and listen. Even if they can’t understand the lyrics, the tone and the tune capture their attention. Some tap their feet along with it even.
After he finishes everyone gives a cheer, and some even clap. “Wow, you really are a rock star huh?” Darious says smiling.
“But yeah, I get what you mean. It’s not easy to be unnoticed when you’re in the spotlight and all. You just gotta learn to roll with it however you can.” He continues with a nod. Either way, he helps Piers order what he wants, if he wants anything to eat while waiting.
Eventually, entering the establishment is...a lady with cat ears and black robes. She looks around the room, and spots Darious and Piers, and begins making her way over. Darious waves at her happily and Carbie makes happy noises.

Once again Piers found himself getting a bit overwhelmed by the mere fact that Darious had basically materialized a guitar from thin air. Alright, this is normal here, magic is a thing here, it’s okay. The rocker breaths to calm himself down again before taking the instrument and just admiring the quality of it.
“This is a nice guitar… Rarely see one this nice. Wait, ya said ya made this? Damn, ya got skill.”
Not for lack of wanting one but he would feel such intense guilt at purchasing one. Besides, his musical style and preference always lent more towards the electric guitar. The musician nodded his thanks and appreciation at being handed such a fine guitar. He strapped it around his back and moved to follow Darious out of the shaded plaza. Piers listened to the whispering going on around them and hummed.
“Guessin’ yer famous here huh? Some kind o’ Warrior?”
He looked to Darious before smiling down to Carbie, immensely grateful for the company at the moment.
Darious looks utterly embarrassed when Piers mentions that. “Oh geez, you can understand that word somehow? Ugh...well, yeah. I’m kind of important I guess? It’s hard to explain without sounding like I’m bragging.” He says rubbing the back of his head. “See, I kinda...sorta...save the world every now and then? The Warrior of Light is a title I have.” He adds.
Carbie yips proudly, as they were an ally of the Warrior of Light.
“A-Anyway, it isn’t that big of a deal. I just get some recognition and some little perks with it. Oh, look, here’s the Quicksand!” He says as they arrive in front of a set of stairs leading into a building up there. Darious heads up them quickly.

Piers could barely hear Darious over the ringing of anxiety in his ears. Seeing him move and finally focusing on his words help bring the rocker down from his spiral into a panic attack. Right, right, panicking wouldn’t help here. Marnie would be fine while he was gone, she not only was a teenager now but had a very dependable team. Right, everything would be fine.
“Right… Right, sorry fer losin’ it mate.” He takes a few breaths while listening to Darious speak. Okay he was talking to his friends. Okay this was fine. He instead knelt down to pet Carbie, lightly amazed at how soft the fox like creature was. It made him want to take out Obstagoon to get comfort from his first partner but he didn’t want to here and cause a bigger scene.
“Okay… Assumin’ she’s a friend o’ yers so that’s good. Even better is she’s been researchin’ this kind of stuff. As fer places to relax you know this place better than me so I’ll follow yer lead. If ya can find me a guitar I can play music to relax more mate.”
If there was anything that could help him calm down fully it would be performing and music was universal. Sure only Darious could understand his words but he could play his songs acoustically for now.
“Guitar...Oh, I actually made one for a friend earlier! Let me just grab that.” He says before pulling a guitar from...nowhere. Where does he keep all his stuff exactly. “Here you go.” He says with a smile, handing it over.
The guitar itself though was impressive. The wood was a fine shine, yet sturdy and of proper weight. The strings looked great too, strong but not overly so. It was a high quality guitar for sure.
“Anyway, follow me. The Quicksand will be a better place to wait than underneath the Aetheryte Plaza.” Darious says as he heads back out into the sun and down the street. While walking along, more people, including the ‘children people’ whisper further. But now, one of the words makes sense for some reason: ‘Warrior of Light’. What’s a Warrior of Light anyway? Carbie is just walking along with Piers, to help him keep calm.

Well that was hardly helpful. Neither knew how it happened and probably not how to get him back home. Alright then. Don’t freak out now, just try to keep calm. He had his team still and was rather versatile in battles with them so he should be fine. Hopefully. And better yet, he had Darious here to help out. Things would be okay.
Giving a nod Piers followed the other man towards the… okay this must be normal but… “Is that a giant spinnin’ crystal…? That floats…? Okay okay, normal things here.” It was obvious that it was starting to overwhelm the former leader but he was doing his damned best to remain calm. As Darious explains he blinks and runs a hand through his fringed bangs before inhaling, holding for a few seconds and then exhaling.
“Alright, well I’m grateful fer that then. We’d be shit out o’ luck otherwise…” He laughs weakly before something occurs to him and he starts to breakdown a bit, “wait, if I’m here what’ll happen to Marns?! I’m all she’s got left in th’ world! Shit shit shit!!”
His little sister must be worried about him for him to just vanish with no word like this! What if he couldn’t get back??
“Whoa, whoa, calm down! I can help you get back, I just need to find my friends the Scions and get their insight.” Darious says hands up. “We’ve actually dealt with world traversing shenanigans before. And my friends are incredibly knowledgeable on a general level. I’m more than certain with their help we can get you back home quickly.” He says.
“Now, let me just take a moment, and contact some of them so I can get them up to speed.” He says, before touching a part of his horn and what sounds like ringing occurs. What follows sounds like gibberish to Piers, but he can make some repeat words out, like “Y’shtola”. Was that someone’s name? While this happens, Carbie nuzzles Piers’ legs to calm him down. After a bit, he removes his fingers from his horn.
“Alright, Y’shtola is on her way. She’s a master of magic and has been researching travel between dimensions. She’ll be able to help out the best out of all the Scions. In the meantime, she wants to make sure you have a decent place to wait, so that you can relax and calm down before she gets here.” Darious explains.

The rocker had just taken off his coat and was holding Toxtricity’s Pokeball in thought. Perhaps having protection in this strange area would be for the best. Piers for his part blinks at hearing a familiar voice calling his name and looks over to the other. Wait wait wait… Darious??
“If yer here then… This is Eorzea innit? Mate yer guess is as good as mine on how I got here and why. Just sorta… Woke up in an alleyway after a dizzy spell back home.”
This was entirely too bizarre and then seeing the Carbuncle jumping around and keeping him distracted has him chuckling, “hey t’you too Carbie.” It then occurred to him that people were whispering but thankfully none of it sounded mean or rude. It was starting to overwhelm him all this newness happening but having someone he new around certainly helped keep him from completely losing his shit.
“Kind o’ glad ya found me actually. I can’t understand a damn thing anyone is saying nor the writin’.”
“Weird, no idea how that happened. At least I found ya before anything happened to ya.” He says. He doesn’t seem all that phased, like it’s kinda something he’s used to by now. “Anyway, I’ll explain things better later, but for now, let’s get some shade. The plaza over here will be good for that.” Darious says pointing to the area down the road where there was a large shaded plaza...next to a giant blue crystal spinning around. Darious doesn’t seem to think it’s weird though, he just heads there.
When there, there seems to be not as many people around. “Alright. So...let, explain why you understand me, but not others. It’s a power I have called, the Echo. It kinda let’s me understand anyone’s language and then communicate with them in a similar fashion.” He says to the Pokemon Gym Leader.

@the-auri-summoner plotted for a starter
Piers was walking around, looking rather confused and quite lost. Oooookay this wasn’t anywhere in Galar so… Where the heck was he? Plus it was scorching out here and he hated it. Being so unused to actual weather and sunshine certainly meant he felt it much more intensely than he used to as a kid. And it was much too bright to to let his team out of their balls to walk with him as well. Least most folks ignored him.
Though that was something else entirely now that he looked around. A lot of folks weren’t human by the looks of it. It was embarrassing on how long it took him to realize the short people weren’t actually children. Hopefully someone could help him out before he roasted alive in the sun. Maybe getting out of the sun would be beneficial so he looked around before managing to find what appeared to be a tavern. Alright then. Least it was much cooler and darker in here.
“Bloody hell, where in Arceus’ name am I…?”
Darious had just finished a supply run for some food for the Immortal Flames, and was just walking out of the office, requipped into his Summoner glamour. Then he sees Piers sticking out like a sore thumb, sweltering in the Thanalan sun.
“What the...Piers?” They call out walking over to him. And already, with that, some people on the street whisper in confusion and awe over who this person is. Well, more so than before now at least.
“Dude, what are you doing here? And how did you get here?” He asks, as Carbuncle bounds around Piers, yipping happily.

The rocker nods, glad that the other man understood. It royally sucked to deal with being trapped in a position you didn’t want to be in. Piers gave a gentle tug of his choker’s charm as he remembered his time as a leader. Rather than focus on that he took a deep calming breath before letting it out again.
Piers was going to respond when Darious suddenly jumps up, causing him to stand at the defensive as well. Obstagoon was growling lowly and standing near its trainer, at the ready to battle and defend him which simply confused the man. Why would his Pokemon be so threatened?
Then he heard that voice and froze. Well fuck. That was someone he never wanted to hear from again. Or at least… Someone he really hoped just sounded like the man that had manipulated most of the region into hating him and his hometown. He really was hoping this wasn’t him.
The former gym leader called back his other Pokemon, leaving Obstagoon out knowing the brute wouldn’t take being inside his ball well at the moment. None of the others were particularly keen either but they listened out of trust for their trainer. “Take it this isn’t a mate o’yers huh?”
“Nope. Frankly, I wish they would just knock it off with their plans, but I always gotta interfere and they always gotta try to kill me over it.” He says with a rather disturbing level of nonchalance. “The Ascians are from my place. But the bigger deal ones don’t follow me like this. This one’s from the Chalice of the Twelve, which is like a fanclub for one of the higher ups.” He continues.
“Hmph, your overconfidence will be your undoing.” He says before bringing out an Ultra Ball. Then he throws it, the hood flying back off and revealing...Chairman Rose?! And on top of that he sent out his Copperjah! “This time, it will be a more even playing field.” He says.
“Huh. Hey Piers, what kind of Pokemon is that?” Darious asks looking back at the trainer. Carbie gets in front of Darious, ready to fight.

Piers listens, more than a little fascinated by what’s being told to him. Sure, there were plenty of regions around here too but they all ran on the same kind of government. Though that didn’t really stop fighting thanks to random megalomaniacs wanting power and going after Legendaries to get it as he saw with Rose but details details. That didn’t stop a little ‘I told you so’ thoughts from crossing his mind about the crazed former chairman though.
“Sounds incredible mate, I’d love to see it some time if I could. Might inspire some more songs.”
He wasn’t necessarily short on inspiration but it couldn’t hurt to always have more of it. Piers lets his fingers comb through Obstagoon’s fur a bit longer before finally stopping and giving a little hum of thought.
“How I felt when I finally retired from bein’ a Leader honestly. It was such a horrid time in my life that when I finally was free from it… It was the happiest I been a long time.”
Darious nods in agreement. “Yeah. I was the same. I lived in a wholly different place, following a wholly different life style. It was never for me, I could never feel at ease in it.” He says aloud. He knew full well the feeling of how limiting a position you don’t want is.
“If you ever visit, let me know, and I’ll show you around.” He says smiling. Suddenly, he perks up, then jumps up as behind him approaches a menacing black cloaked figure. “Oh for the love of...do you Ascians ever get tired of trying to find and fight me?!” He says sounding annoyed.
“You know we cannot suffer you to live, Bringer of Light. This time will-” He says before Darious groans.
“Great, another Lahabrea fanboy. Look, I don’t want to have smack you into next Tuesday right now. Can we reschedule this for another time?” Darious says rubbing the back of his head. He seems both exasperated and annoyed, but not particularly worried. Carbie just rolls its eyes at the black robed figure.

“Heh, no worries there. Get plenty o’ practice cooking when I was raising my little sis. Had to learn to get creative for that too.” Not necessarily because Marnie was picky, she wasn’t really thank Arceus, but more so due to limited ingredients. He had to learn fast how to make tasty, simple meals that could stretch their food as long as possible.
It was only once Piers was done eating that he pet the large furry Pokemon. This seemed to appease the dark-type as it began to rumble happily and rolled over onto its back with tongue lolling to try and get belly rubs. The rocker just huffed in amusement before doing just that.
The man looked up just in time to see Darious wipe at his eyes and he gave a frown. Something had upset the other but he didn’t want to ask for fear it be a tender topic, plus Carbie seemed on top of the comfort department. Instead he listens to the words and shakes his head.
“Yeh, you’d be right. I’ve never heard of any place called Eorzea. What’s it like if ya don’t mind my askin’?”
“It’s a unique place. It’s not all run by one government, more like 5. There’s Limsa Lominsa, an island nation run as a sort of confederacy of sailors. Then there’s Ul’dah, an oligarchy with a great deal of merchants. After that we have Gridania, which is home to a community who communes with nature. Then there’s Ishgard, which was once a theocracy, but now serves a more republic government. And finally, there’s Gyr Ahbania, which is also sort of a confederacy. Each nation has it’s own culture, and way of doing things. Sometimes it causes fighting.” He explains before smiling.
“But there’s still so much there I haven’t seen yet. So much to explore and adventures to be had. It was when I first came to Eorzea that I truly felt alive for once. It felt like I really had found my way in life coming there.” He says gazing up at the sky grinning. “When you’re in Eorzea, there’s always something to try your hand at I fell.” He finishes with. Carbie yips happily in agreement.

Piers watched the pair eat, glad to see them enjoying it. It’d been a while since he’d made curry this way after all, normally not traveling by foot anymore. A chuckle escapes him and he nods, “lot o’ practice honestly. Curry is the most popular food ta make when yer traveling ‘round on foot.”
There was a few angry noises from his Pokemon that he mostly ignored, merely giving a sharp whistled command to his Obstagoon. The pokemon was quite the glutton after all and liked to try and steal the others’ food. The large furry beast gave an upset whine and trotted over before laying by Piers with big eyes to beg for more food. The rock star just ignored him.
“Oh? That where ya from then? Can’t say I’ve ever heard of the place.”
“Of course. Practice is the best way to learn how to cook really. Whether it’s one recipe multiple times, or learning new recipes from new ingredient combinations. That’s what I was taught at least.” Darious muses. Really, that applies to many things, but cooking is fun because it can often result in new successes.
He chuckles at the Obstagoon being such a greedy glutton. It reminds him of when Papalymo would chastise Lyse about eating more than she should. Or when Monbryda would try to challenge him to an eat off. Or when Haurchefaunt brought him hot chocolate-
He doesn’t notice the tears welling up in his eyes as he recalls the friends he’s lost until just now. He wipes them quickly when Piers ask that question. “Yeah, it is. Well, Limsa is part of a region known as Eorzea. Though I doubt you’d have heard of that either.” He says.
Carbie saw it though and quietly whines and nuzzles Darious, knowing full well what pain they felt.
