If it makes any of you feel better, Donald Trump will have an uphill battle to change the constitution. He will need:
-2/3 of Senators (60)
-2/3 of the House of Representatives (290)
-3/4 of the states (38)
In 2026, 33 senate seats will be up for grabs, and we’ll be able to vote for people who are against Trump and his ideals.
Breathe and remain hopeful because it’s not over. We can still fight and make Trump’s last four years hell.

“To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness.
What we choose to emphasize in this complex history will determine our lives. If we see only the worst, it destroys our capacity to do something. If we remember those times and places—and there are so many—where people have behaved magnificently, this gives us the energy to act, and at least the possibility of sending this spinning top of a world in a different direction.
And if we do act, in however small a way, we don’t have to wait for some grand utopian future. The future is an infinite succession of presents, and to live now as we think human beings should live, in defiance of all that is bad around us, is itself a marvelous victory.”
~ Howard Zinn

Don't let people tell you that voting doesn't matter
My grandparents came to this country from an authoritarian dictatorship that literally threw out all the votes. And literally falsified the election results. A country where literally no one's vote mattered - and that was during the years you could vote. (You know, all the things people say about the US to try to convince you that your vote doesn't matter.)
It was a country that literally assassinated their political opponents. And literally sent people who spoke out against them to prison for years of hard labor. (You know, the things Trump has openly talked about doing in the US dozens of times.)
My great-grandmother and great-grandfather were both arrested for refusing to join the governing party. They were both imprisoned for years. Their daughter, my grandma, had to live in a boarding house.
My grandpa, her future husband, was imprisoned for two years because of his country of origin.
My great-grandmother forced them to let her out of prison after two years, but only by virtue of being extremely lucky, tough as nails, and willing to potentially die in the process. My great-grandfather was imprisoned at a work camp for seven years, until his legs stopped working from digging holes in the ground in subfreezing water, at which point they threw him in the snow outside the front gates. The only reason he survived was because of the kindness of strangers who drove by.
My great-grandparents lived the rest of their time in that country with surveillance equipment in their home. Hidden microphones and tapped phones, and my great-grandfather's deep-seated fear that his wife's unwillingness to stop talking shit about the ruling party would land them back in prison.
They tried to assassinate my grand-grandfather. They shot at him while he was walking home from the neighbors', and barely missed. They successfully assassinated his cousin, and almost assassinated eight or so other members of his family in the attack.
Voting matters. The right to vote matters. Imperfect elections still matter.
Trump wants to take us to a country like the one my grandparents moved here from. Don't fucking let him.
And don't let anyone persuade you that it's worth the risk to not vote or vote third party.
The country my family is from is now a democracy. Let's keep the US as one too, please.

Friendly reminder that almost half of the states in the U.S. have same day registration! This means you can go to the polling center for your location, register there, and cast your vote same day. So if you are over 18, are a U.S. citizen, and live in one of the states listed below, it is not too late to register and vote! I’m going to put notes for some of the states where voting is extra important due to the political climate of the state.
California
Colorado
Connecticut
D.C.
Hawaii
Idaho
Illinois
Iowa - recent polls indicate state could flip from red to blue
Maine
Maryland
Michigan
Minnesota
Montana
Nevada
New Hampshire
New Mexico
North Carolina - swing state! Could go red or blue - same day registration allowed only for early voting
North Dakota - voter registration not required
Utah
Vermont
Virginia
Washington
Wisconsin - swing state! Could go red or blue
Wyoming
You can go here for more info on voter registration
I also have a huge list of voting resources here

Now you all know my grievances with Jill Stein and given her little attacks against Kamala Harris have widely gone ignored and she’s polling at 2% I was just going to ignore her until I saw this:
My response below sums up my thoughts but I am just sick of this old hag constantly going into hibernation every four years, doing nada for the first three and comes back eight months before the election just to talk shit.
And this is no joke. She LITERALLY goes AWOL for the first three years on her social media:
If she cares so much about stuff why not be more consistent?
This old bitch is literally the definition of a grifter.

End Credits in Film
The credits that roll at the end of a film are crucial for more than one reason
Obviously, there is the acknowledgment of every hand and mind that went into the project, but
There's also the allowance to wind down, to take in what you've just watched; even if you've seen it a hundred times, it's part of watching the film
And of course the score/soundtrack. The music chosen for the end credits is very intentional, even in many movies made today
It doesn't matter that some movies have more disposable end credit tracks
The point is that there is value in the end credit for even more reasons than I listed here
I bring all of this up because I've encountered - what is for me - a new issue with streaming movies. Not only do they include ad break style fade-to-blacks even when you're not stuck with ads during your viewing (I always keep the remote handy to mute the ads when they come up and don't even glance at the screen because fuck ads), but now I find that some services play the end credits at breakneck speed, also cutting off the music prematurely. So not only can I not use the music and energy to wind down and absorb my experience, but I can't read and appreciate (and easily look into more should I want to know more of their work whatever their task) the many people who made the film.
A lot of people say the art of film is dying. I couldn't disagree more. I lived through the sludge that the 90s and -shudder- the 00s gave us, and so much of what I'm actually watching today is fucking incredible. The ability for smaller creators - and creators from almost any country - to put out next-level work available at my fingertips is unprecedented on every conceivable level. It's the services that largely make these films available that are doing their damnedest to make these experiences as expedited and protracted as possible.
Remove our awareness of what's going on around us and we are that much more malleable, that much more suggestible to blind purchasing, binge watching, and other obnoxious tactics that gain billionaires more money, and leave us as the scapegoats, the ones to blame for our "shorter attention spans" and our "fickle" manner of consuming media.

Hello everyone who lives in the United States and is over 18, early voting has been open for a little bit and stays open until the 2nd. If you’re mailing a ballot, they have to have it by the 5th so you should send it in probably by the 29th. The election is on the 5th, so don’t let the deadlines slip your mind!
Vote for Kamala and let’s keep that orange fascist out of office!

I'm undecided about the current election because both parties are awful. Kamala Harris called Donald Trump a fascist, just because he has publicly admired notorious dictators for years and has promised to become one himself if re-elected. And Donald Trump has called Kamala Harris a fascist because she called him a fascist. These are both equally valid points for some reason, which is why I'm going to make the only sane choice in this election and vote for a discarded tennis shoe I found on the side of the highway yesterday. I am morally superior

Fake Leftists: “OMG KAMALA AND TRUMP ARE BOTH ZIONISTS!!!!”
Meanwhile:
https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/netanyahu-told-trump-israel-will-make-decisions-based-its-interests-his-office-2024-10-20/
“"Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated what he has also said publicly: Israel takes into account the issues the U.S. administration raises, but in the end, will make its decisions based on its national interests," it said.
Trump, speaking later to reporters in Philadelphia, said he had had "a very nice call" with Netanyahu on Saturday.
The Israeli leader had asked his opinion about what to do with Iran, he said. Israel is pondering its military reaction to recent Iranian missile strikes.
"He was asking what I thought. And I just said, you do what you have to do," Trump said.”

Fox host: *plays clip*
Vice President Harris: With all due respect, that clip was not what he has been saying about the ‘enemy within’ that he has repeated when he's speaking about the American people. That's not what you just showed
Fox host: Well…
Vice President Harris: You didn't show that. You and I both know that he has talked about turning the American military on the American people. He has talked about locking people up because they disagree with him. This is a democracy. The President of the United States should be willing to be able to handle criticism without saying he'd lock people up for doing it.

Let's GOOOOOOOO Georgia! Source Protip: Stop looking at polls. Don't look at the poll - they shouldn't affect your actions from here on. It's just a coping mechanism to feel like you have control in being "prepared" for an outcome. It's a psychological trick that is only going to hurt your mental health. What is good to do: make sure you're ready to vote. Research your local candidates and issues because local politics affects your everyday life so much more than federal. Stop looking at any story about the Orange Weirdo. Just stop. It doesn't matter what he does. He could be whisked away into Fairyland and it doesn't change what we need to do - vote blue. There are plenty of other threats out there that we need to keep out of office. Project 2025 will persist even without him. Instead: look at early voting data. Look at all the motivated people who are sending in their ballots and getting in line to vote early. Be like them, don't be a slacker and freeload. You need to vote early if you can and bring 3 people with you to vote too. Help your local friends and family do research on local candidates and issues. School board, corporation commissioner, lands commissioner, elections officials - these are all SUPER IMPORTANT. Read your ballot measures / propositions CAREFULLY. There can be bullshit tucked away in there to trick you. There may be stealth counter measures on the ballot to trick you and keep you from voting for the right ones. If you want to do more, find a voter help line or Get Out The Vote org to volunteer for. We help each other.
When we vote, we win!
