Digimon Data Squad (Savers) - Episode 27

Kind of a weird name for a mid-season episode lol. Guessing by "the end" they mean Kurata's end. This episode was pretty meaty and felt much longer than it was. I was kinda laughing when they introduced the new antagonists because they seemed like they snuck in from a different anime lol. Despite the previous clip show, this season is pretty good at keeping me interested.

Notes:

Kurata's ability to jump between worlds is pretty OP. I think that's kind of one of the only interesting things about him.

I feel as though out of all the main digimon-human partnerships, we haven't really seen much affection between Gaomon and Tohma. I don't think we've seen their first meeting and they barely interact except for Gaomon going "master!" all the time. Almost feels like they're coworkers or something (I guess technically they are lol). Just wish they could have more one-on-one time cuz Gaomon feels very underdeveloped.

Why are Miki and Megumi suddenly wearing jumpsuits in this episode? Is that their casual look? (It's giving Charlie's Angels)

Nice to see the Noguchis again and I'm glad they were able to serve the plot in what was an effective callback. I felt like Ikuto's mom crying over sending him back to the digital world felt a little like a retread but his dad teaching him the phrase "ittekimasu" was sweet.

I like to think the blonde goth loli is somehow related to Alice from Tamers (another goth loli). Estranged big sister? The muscle man with no eyebrows kinda looks like that dude from Ghost in the Shell

So now we have humans digivolving into digimon. It feels different from the Tamers/Frontier version of that. Like, are they partnering/merging with a digimon or are they just part digimon? I bet Ikuto's jealous lol. If the MCs do this digivolution then they'd either have to merge with their partners or they could fight side by side which could be cool (or some secret third option?).

I feel like Chirinmon's design is really cool but I don't really like the color scheme. It looks like Bowser's color scheme lol. Seeing the captain join the fight was pretty exciting.

When the captain was like "there's only one man we can rely on" I thought he meant the old fisher dude. Glad that's not the case tbh. I imagine he'll be back tho.

Had to return my DVD of the dub to the library so I gotta watch in potato quality til I can get another copy. 😭

Iori’s moral struggle over maybe having to elimiante a Digimon not only with a soul but with troubling questions and Armadimon expressing sympathy and support with Iori’s compassion.

But Takeru had to deal with Digimon with souls who screwed over the Digital World and knows that sometimes the hard decision must be made.

Quite interesting reactions from all characters.
