I am very passionate about how Portal is a very feminist game. I see a lot of people say that Portal is progressive because it could’ve had a protagonist of interchangeable gender, and that Chell being a woman affects nothing. But it completely does! Chell being a woman is inherent to the plot and theming of the narrative! Portal is progressive because it depicts corporate exploitation of women and actively shows a woman perservering and overcoming that abuse!!!

I think one reason I literally don’t care about unification is that the TOS characters’ timelines get so absolutely fucking stupid after the sixth film that to me none of it is real. And I also don’t care what the “official” version is.

Like shipping gay ships from the 60s has never been about the media company that owns the IP or the original actors or anyone “in charge” going “they’re gay” it’s about the community of artists and thinkers and fans who love them and build out the relationship in our collective minds, taking full ownership of a story that we care about and wrenching it from the hands of a media conglomerate that doesn’t give a fuck.

To ME, Kirk magically appearing to hold Spock’s hand while he dies is pretty meaningless when it means that the stupidity of generations is accepted as what actually happened (the film so dumb that Leonard Nimoy didn’t want anything to do with it, and which basically wrote kirk and Spock’s closeness out of existence because why would Spock be nowhere to be found under those circumstances??? After the whole death and resurrection plot line in the films you’re telling me these two would ever just like… go off on their own careers and not be together???)

Idk like Star Trek as a franchise is SO hostile to actually meaningfully developing Spirk as a canon thing and I don’t care what the franchise directors or bill shatner have to say about it.
