while I was reading Senso I was put off by Noriyuki and Jotaro’s designs
just. made me think of that Rugrats episode where the kids imagine themselves as adults and it’s just their baby heads plastered on adult bodies
#fern.uy#that’s one of my gripes with it anyway#I just did not enjoy the storyline in general and Everybody Dies endings aren’t my fave#but that was the thing that put me off the most#at least Motokazu kind of looked grown up???

It was a bad idea to read the UY comics while making an AU 눈_눈
I'm planning on some Noriyuki x Motokazu stuff 😊 and Ichirozuke x Jotaro maybe 👀??
@nerishhellish what role should I give Yukichi in the family? Tho he is taking care of Jotaro too, maybe he would have a rocky relationship with Kenichi since he is Usagi's only family member alive...
Just Jotaro, Leo has some family problems. His bio dad died when he was still little and then after his mom married another man, Flinn, Leo's grandfather ¨died¨ leaving Leo with a strange relationship with the dead...

Looking Back on McLaren’s 1995 Le Mans Win
On the 25th anniversary of McLaren’s unexpected Le Mans win, it’s a story that’s now part of motorsport mythology.
There’s a moment caught on camera, just as the winning McLaren drivers are about to step out onto the Le Mans podium in 1995, when the third-placed Derek Bell congratulates the team. 'Well done,’ he says. ‘I don’t know how you did it!’
More than anyone else in that room, Derek Bell knew what he was talking about. A five-time winner himself and veteran of 26 Le Mans, Bell knows what it takes to win this relentless, grinding, 24-hour endurance race. It takes speed, yes; but also teamwork, consistency, great strategy, faultless reliability and always a dose of luck. Many great teams have been competing at Le Mans for years and never come close to winning.
So Derek Bell was in shock: that McLaren’s historic victory came at its very first attempt; that the hastily-prepared Kokusai Kaihatsu team had actually pulled it off; that the McLaren F1, a road-going supercar, had beaten the much faster prototypes over 2518 miles of racing.
That shock still reverberates today. Twenty-five years on, the story now has all the magical qualities of a fairytale: once upon a time there was the McLaren F1, which was never designed to go racing. Instead, it was enthusiastic owners who persuaded McLaren to create a racing version, the now legendary F1 GTR.
To comply with the Le Mans rules that year, the car’s 627bhp V12 had to run with air restrictors – something Barry Lett, the GTR’s Chief Designer, found disappointing: ‘With the restrictors, the engine had less power, and with the inclusion of air jacks and the FIA roll cage the car was heavier too,’ he remembers. ‘So we had a race car that was heavier than the road car and less powerful than the road car!’.
Then there’s the unlikely way the Kokusai Kaihatsu Racing team came together. In April that year, the Japanese businessman and McLaren enthusiast, Motokazu Sayama, approached McLaren, hoping he might secure a last-minute entry alongside the five other GTR teams. Keen to get Sayama on the grid and with no inhouse personnel available, McLaren turned to a small privateer team called Lanzante Motorsport. It was run by Paul Lanzante, who’d never even been to Le Mans before.
But it wasn’t a joke, and Lanzante’s small outfit had just eight weeks to get ready. Meanwhile, McLaren quickly found three drivers, all with Le Mans experience: the two-time winner Yannick Dalmas, Japanese driver Masanori Sekiya and former Formula 1 driver JJ Lehto. As Lanzante said, ’I’m surprised these drivers hadn’t had an offer to drive at Le Mans – by luck, they were the only drivers available.’ The three had never raced together before, and Lanzante had never even met them before a critical shake-down test at Silverstone; yet the combination of their experience, consistency and speed would be a critical factor in the race.
Then of course there was the car. Beneath its new, ‘Ueno Clinic’ livery and #59 race number, chassis 01R was in fact McLaren’s own test car – ‘a mule’, as Paul Lanzante described it. Not only had it done much of the development work for the GTR programme, it had also completed a full, 24-hour test at the Magny-Cours circuit in May. Was the car now comfortably worn-in? Or prematurely worn-out? Lanzante remembers he wasn’t overly confident: ‘I thought we’d only do about an hour,’ he later admitted, with a smile.
All of this came together over the weekend of 17-18 June 1995. The weather played an important role: it was one of the wettest Le Mans on record, which lowered lap times and reduced the stress on suspension parts and gearboxes. It also meant the purpose-built prototypes couldn’t take advantage of their higher speeds and greater downforce.
But it wasn’t all luck. Lanzante deliberately chose a cautious strategy: ‘Just keep going, and see what would happen at the end,’ is how he described it. It proved to be the right approach, as the leading cars suffered reliability problems or crashed out. Then there was JJ Lehto’s mercurial speed overnight, in the rain. Years later, the Finn said, ‘I’ve been told that on some laps I was half a minute quicker than anyone else but I don’t know what the real number was and it doesn’t matter. Once you find the lines, the rhythm and the grip, everything else just flows. I remember Paul [Lanzante] coming on the radio saying, “Are you sure, are you sure you can do this kind of lap time?” Everyone was so nervous but I was completely relaxed, wondering what all the fuss was about.'
By daybreak, car #59 had climbed to third. Soon it was second, and when Lehto was put back in the driver’s seat at 8am to go head-to-head with the leading Harrods McLaren, Lanzante changed tactic: ‘I want you to go out and give that car everything you possibly can’.
He did, and just before 9am the filthy-grey Ueno Clinic car took the lead, which – apart from pit stops – it kept to the checkered flag that afternoon. Behind it, McLaren GTRs also finished 3rd, 4th, 5th and 13th, an unprecedented achievement.
Standing on the podium, alongside the now three-time winner Dalmas, was JJ Lehto, the first ever Finnish driver to win Le Mans; Sekiya, the first Japanese driver to win; plus team manager Lanzante, winning on his debut. Below them, surrounded by a huge, appreciative crowd, was the #59 McLaren F1 GTR, the roadgoing supercar that conquered Le Mans at its first attempt.
Twenty-five years later, the elegantly tall, 1995 Le Mans trophy still stands in the McLaren Technology Centre, a reminder to all who visit of the company’s magnificent, wonderfully unlikely achievement. To this day, anyone who sees it, knowing the full story, might be forgiven for smiling and saying, ‘I don’t know how you did it.’

Inktober 2018 - Sakaitober
Another year, another Inktober. And this time, about my all-time favorite comic book.
Since I discovered “Grasscutter” right before going to college, I tried to get every single “Usagi Yojimbo” issue published in Spain. Every year, I buy the newest book, and every year I re-read all the tomes I have. Yes: every single year. And I keep discovering little details here and there that I didn’t realize before.
So it isn’t strange that, sooner or later, I’d make an Inktober based on Stan Sakai’s comic series.
It was 31 pictures, as October has... well, 31 days, but then turned into 32, because of a couple of characters missing in my list. Because Yagi & Gorogoro deserve to be here as well, even if it was on November 1st.
So with no further ado, here is the list with the links to each picture.
1. Miyamoto Usagi
2. Tomoe Ame
3. Murakami Gennosuke “Gen”
4. Kitsune & Kiyoko
5. Chizu
6. Inspector Ishida
7. Sanshobo
8. Zato Ino & Fujiko
9. Jei & Keiko
10. Inazuma
11. Kagemaru
12. Jotaro
13. Kenichi & Mariko
14. “Stray Dog” Inukai
15. Lord Hebi
16. Katsuichi
17. Lord Noriyuki
18. Ikeda & Motokazu
19. Nakamura Koji
20. Ryoko & Kitanamono

Japanese Publishing Giant Shueisha Establishes Shueisha Games, Introduces First Four Titles
Shueisha, the Japanese publisher behind Shonen Jump and some of the biggest manga titles in the world, is stepping into the arena of games with a recently established company. Featuring Shinichiro Hirono as representative director and Masahiko Ibaraki, Motokazu Kitabatake, Yoshihisa Heishi and Masana Takahashi as company directors, Shueisha Games currently has multiple titles in the works for later this year and beyond.
Among the revealed games we have tentatively-titled 3D action game ONI, due out on unspecified platforms in 2022. This one is being developed by Small World Entertainment under the direction of Kenei Design.
The Tower of Children is a survival roguelike adventure that's on the way this summer.
Captain Velvet Meteor in The Jump+ Dimensions finds a shy boy named Damien moving to Japan and eventually fighting alongside Shonen Jump+ heroes in his imaginary world. The tactical action game is coming to Nintendo Switch this summer.
UKIYO is a cyberpunk adventure with a distinctly Japanese aesthetic that's being penciled in for sometime between 2022 and early 2023.
Beyond these titles, there's a new mobile game in the works at a major overseas game company, featuring character designs by a famous Weekly Shonen Jump artist. The release date is TBA but its global plans will begin in Japan and Asia.
There's also a "Multiplayer Speed Trick Action Title" in the works, as well as new large-scale projects that will team Shueisha's popular writers and editorial knowledge up with major game companies. Stay tuned for more on all of these and other titles in the pipeline soon, and check out the official website for Shueisha Games.
