The 5H is trends/cult favs before it goes mainstream. Venus is beauty/makeup.
5H Venuses:
Zsa Zsa Gabor had blotting papers in her makeup line before people knew what it was!
“It’s a rice paper, you put it on your face when it’s shiny,” she explained of blotting papers — a product which had yet to reach the mainstream popularity that it has now. This is a new thing we’re putting on the market.”
- Zsa Zsa Gabor
Dorthy Dandridge: Someone Marilyn Monroe took inspiration from! Was considered the “Black Marilyn Monroe”

As an Air Force brat who understands protocol leaving the wives in the car, was in extremely bad taste, but Za Za it was known for loving men. Call them, Darling.😁 Obviously the SR 71 broke the sound barrier to get up to 85,000 feet and a speed of 3.2 Mach. Often, I would look at the windows of our house at Beale [Air Force Base, AFB] and watched them shake so hard I thought they would break!
The SR-71 tried to stay away from major cities, but occasionally it would happen over a large city like Los Angeles.
Zsa Zsa Gabor called the police to complain after the London to Los Angeles speed run. Her windows were (supposedly) shattered in her Hollywood hills home. She was appeased when pilot Buck Adams and RSO Bill Machoreck went to her house and gave her personal autograph.
Her personal assistant told the wives of the Blackbird crew members that they had to stay in the car. She only wanted the men to come in her house. While wives were surprised at her bad manners, Adams and Machoreck went ahead and apologized to her for breaking her windows.
Zsa Zsa was happy, but the wives in the car weren’t so happy.
President Nixon called the Air Force to complain when the sonic booms broke the windows in his home in Southern California. Even though it was himself who ordered sonic booms 15 seconds apart to be delivered by the SR-71 over the Hanoi Hilton.

My first time in LA, Paul picked me up at the airport. “Wanna go to a party?”
He took me to Zsa Zsa Gabor’s husband’s birthday party. They lived in the house where they just filmed the HBO Liberace movie, the pool still had piano keys around it and an L in the middle.
It was a kitsch field of dreams. Sid Krofft, Beverly D’Angelo, Allee Willis, Buzz Aldrin’s ex-wife and the puppet Madame.
Every room had gold-framed portraits of Zsa Zsa. The was a velvet-roped smoking section. We had soft pretzels and European meats.
That night, he took me to a tribute concert to Lance Loud (of The Mumps & An American Family).
Holly Woodlawn, Cherry Vanilla, Maria McKee, Rob Zabrecky, Ann Magnuson - people so mythically cool that I couldn’t believe they existed in real life.
We finished the evening by having frozen yogurt popsicles and watching the Paul Lynde Halloween Special. Could not ask for a better day.

Ringo Starr and Maureen’s Glamorous Honeymoon in Hove in 1965
Rob BakerJuly 7, 2019

"How does it feel to be married to a very famous man?" MAUREEN: "Very nice."
Honeymoon Photo Call – Ringo Starr and Maureen Cox – Hove, Sussex
Ringo Starr and Maureen Cox were married on February 11th 1965 at Caxton Hall in Westminster. They had known each other since the Beatles’ Cavern days where at the age of fifteen, Maureen, known to her friends as “Mo”, had become a regular at the club. She once recalled:
On the marriage certificate Starr wrote that his profession was “musician”, while Maureen, who was now eighteen, left her profession blank. She had given up her job as a trainee manicurist/hairdresser at Ashley du Pre in Liverpool after continued threats from jealous Beatles’ fans.
Maureen had found herself pregnant at the end of January 1965 and within a few days Ringo proposed to her while they were at the Ad Lib club a few days later. Because of the pregnancy Brian Epstein arranged a quick wedding and hoped that it could remain a private affair. John Lennon told Maureen that there should be no tears or she “wouldn’t be one of the gang.” Ringo was due in the recording studio at Abbey Road on the 15th February before he then had to fly out to the Bahamas for the filming of Help! a week later, so a quick three-day honeymoon was organised by Epstein at the house of a friend of his in the glamorous location of Hove. The friend – the showbiz lawyer David Jacobs – like Epstein, was Jewish and gay although more flamboyantly so – he often attracted the ire of judges by openly wearing powder and makeup in court.
2 Prince’s Square Hove
Other than Epstein and the Beatles, Jacobs’s clients included Marlene Dietrich, Diana Dors (both on the cover of the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band LP incidentally), Judy Garland, Zsa Zsa Gabor, the Rolling Stones and even Liberace. It was David Jacobs who planned the American pianist’s libel case with the Daily Mirror’s columnist Cassandra in 1959. The jury were persuaded that Liberace was of unimpeachable moral character and not at all, “a deadly, winking, sniggering, snuggling, chromium-plated, scent-impregnated, luminous, quivering, giggling, fruit-flavoured, mincing, ice-covered heap of mother love”. Liberace was able to walk out of the court £26,000 richer and famously said that he was “crying all the way to the bank”.

Time to go, love
News that Ringo and Maureen had married soon leaked to the press and the next day the couple awoke to find film crews, photographers and the press camped outside Jacobs’s house at 2 Prince’s Square a stone’s throw from the sea in Hove. Although disappointed with the lack of even a short period of privacy, Ringo and Maureen agreed to a lunchtime interview in the back garden of where they were staying:
Q: “How long have you known each other?”
RINGO: “About two and a half years now.”
Q: “So this means, Maureen, that you knew Ringo before he was right at the top of the tree.”
MAUREEN: “Yes.”
Q: “How does it feel to be married to a very famous man?” MAUREEN: “Very nice.”
Q: “Well, I’m sure you wanted a rather different honeymoon from this. What do you think about all this?”
RINGO: “Well, you know– We took a chance. We tried to keep it quiet and we tried to arrive here quiet, but we must’ve been spotted and that’s the end of it, you know. So from now on, it’s not really a honeymoon, it’s just– we’re just stayin’ here.”
Q: “How do you think the other Beatles reacted?”
RINGO: “Well, John and George were great, you know. They were happy and congratulated us and everything. And they, in fact, went to the wedding.” Q: “When are the rest of you going to get married?”
RINGO: “When are the rest of them? I don’t know. I’ve no idea. As I said before, I don’t think ‘cuz I’m married, next week they’ll all pop up and say, ‘We’re gettin’ married ‘cuz Ringo is,’ you know.”
Q: “What sort of an effect, really, do you think the marriage is going to have on the Beatles’ future?”
RINGO: “On the Beatles as a whole, I don’t think any great effect– as much as that everyone will sort of say, ‘Well, we can’t sorta like them anymore ‘cuz Ringo’s married,’ you know. I don’t think I’ve got that image. I don’t think it’ll bother them too much. It may help, in fact, you know. We don’t know yet. It’s too early to say.”
Q: “Have you decided where you’re going to live?”
RINGO: “Only in the flat I’ve already got in London, up to now. Then we have to move and get a house or something, but it’ll be a while yet.”
Q: “Maureen, what do you think of the flat and the furnishings? Are there any changes you’d like to make?” MAUREEN: “No, it’s great.” RINGO: (jokingly) “It’s a big flat, you know!” (laughs)
Q: “Ringo, where did you propose?”
RINGO: “In a club.”
Q: “Can you tell me which club?”
RINGO: “Yes, if you don’t mind a plug. The Ad Lib club.”
Q: “You mean, you made it up as you went along?”
RINGO: “Oh, ho!! Bad joke!! No, you know– I was sort of thinking about it, and I just sorta said, ‘Will you marry me?’ and she said, ‘Yes… Have another drink!’ (laughs) And we did, and that was it.”
Q: “Congratulations. Thank you both very much.”
RINGO: “Thank you. Alright? Goodbye! …hope not to see you out my window again!” After just three days in Hove, Ringo was driven to Abbey Road studios where the Beatles started to record songs for the new film Help! In six days they recorded five songs for the film, a b-side, two LP tracks and one song called ‘That Means a Lot’, rejected ultimately for Help! but became a minor hit for PJ Proby.

In August 1968 Brian Epstein was found dead by his housekeeper after taking an overdose of Carbital, a popular sleeping pill of the time, at his London home in Belgravia. It was Jacobs who organised everything afterwards, the press, the reading of the will and had even identified the body for the police. Just over a year later David Jacobs also took his own life when he was found by his man-servant dangling from a length of satin from one of the beams of his garage in December 1968.
Recording a verdict of suicide while the balance of his mind was disturbed, the East Sussex Coroner, Dr Angus Sommerville said that there was no doubt that Mr Jacobs had financial problems. “But,” he added, “it is not my business to inquire further into these.” Dr Keith Elliott, pathologist, said that Mr Jacobs had stood on the stool, put his head in a loop of cord and then kicked the stool away. “But,” he continued, “it appeared that the attempted to loosen the loop but could not.”
Brian Epstein in 1966
It wasn’t particularly surprising that David Jacobs ended up in financial difficulty. This was the man that put together one of the worst deals in the history of popular music when, albeit with the permission of Epstein, he signed away the rights to all the Beatles merchandise for a pathetic 10% to a friend from the London party circuit named Nicky Byrne. It is said, however, that there may have been a more sinister reason for the death of Epstein’s friend and lawyer than debt. Shortly before he died, Jacobs had been visited by a cohort of Ronnie Kray. The Krays, at the time, were due to stand trial at the Old Bailey for the murders of George Cornell and Jack “the hat” McVitie and Jacobs was asked if he could legally represent the twins in court. Jacobs refused and immediately asked for police protection. It was refused…

Guest host Ralph Miller III, who worked behind the scenes on Dream Warriors provides insights and many effects development photos that are shown in the YouTube version of the podcast. Post-recording, the crew wants to clarify that Kevin Yagher was responsible for the Freddy Snake, and Mark Shostrom was in charge of the Penelope Sudrow dummy that smashes into the Freddyvision TV.
With the success of A Nightmare on  Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987), following the critical failure of A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy’s Revenge (1985), New line Cinema firmly cemented Freddy Krueger and A Nightmare on Elm Street as one of the most iconic horror franchises of its time. Not only does Dream Warriors feature Robert Englund continuing to breathe both humor and fear into Freddy Krueger but also the return of both Heather Langenkamp and John Saxon from the original. The film also features Craig Wasson (Ghost Story) as the male lead and early film roles for Patricia Arquette and Larry Fishburne. Frank Darabont (The Mist) and Bruce Wagner join Wes Craven on scripting chores and Chuck Russell (The Blob, The Mask) directs while Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) provides the score – a winning combination of talent. Surely a Grue-Crew highly recommended selection with special effects by Greg Cannom, Doug Beswick, Mark Shostrom, Kevin Yagher, and more!
Be sure to check out the first time the 80s Grue-Crew took a dive into this film in February 2017, featuring Doc Rotten, Christopher G. Moore, and Thomas Mariani as the Grue-Crew. You can find it here: A NIGHTMARE ON ELMS STREET 3: DREAM WARRIORS (1987) — Episode 102

How would you define opulence I’m curious lol
FOR WOMEN
I could go in depth but for short rich, money, gaudy, diamonds, fur coats with little to nothing underneath, designer shoes and bags, memorable scents/perfume, couture garments, nice makeup with hair and jewelry to match women who dress and look nice and who also look like they don’t lift a finger, wearing expensive lingerie and gowns/robes with fur trimming and your initials on it to bed, being served breakfast in bed!, etc..
Mansions with a custom pool in the back, being able to watch TV in your bathroom because it’s installed in your mirror, Jayne Mansfield’s house!, custom foreign cars, Rolls Royce Wraith with the custom starlight feature, Amber Rose’s monologue in the beginning of Faithful, the Mercedes Benz logo projecting on the ground when you open the car door, chandeliers, his and hers sections of the bathroom, Cher’s rotating closet in Clueless!, taking part in activities that aren’t regular!, traveling to different countries, marble floors etc..
It can also just be a moment like ex wives who win tons of $ from their divorce, women who came from nothing finally gaining wealth, women using their husbands $ to start their own businesses or for their own selfish reasons, Zsa Zsa Gabor and her multiple husbands, your 6 inch Loubs gracing the floor of your child’s school as you go to pick them up, wearing couture to the grocery store!, Mariah Carey MTV Cribs episode, Mariah Carey walking on a treadmill with heels, Mariah Carey!!!, it’s Olivia in Avant’s ‘Say Yes’ music video!, sitting front row at exclusive Fashion Shows and knowing the designer!, Toni Childs!, Kimora Lee!, Naomi Campbell!, one of the girls showing up to court looking so fabulous that we forget or could care less what the charges are (Lil Kim’s outfits in between her court dates, Cardi B showing up in that feather ensemble!, Naomi finishing community service in Dolce and Gabbana), going on dates via private jets!, it’s Kimora Lee getting a Champagne pedicure while drinking Champagne!, the way Lil Kim makes you feel in her opening verse in Drugs and the entire song in general, Foxy Brown saying “Darkskin Christian Dior poster girl..”, Amil’s looks in 4 Da Fam!, Gwen Stefani’s Luxurious, Jay Z’s Change Clothes music video, Jay Z’s Excuse Me Miss music video, music that makes you feel like a Bad Bitch!
You ever see or walk past a woman that just screams RICH? She looks confident, untouchable and like wealth? That’s what opulence is. It’s the epitome of you can’t get in! Women who who look and live the life of the Barbies we used to play with.

I can’t believe this post doesn’t mention this house belonged to Magda and Zsa Zsa Gabor! It’s magnificent. If I was a movie star, I’d live here. It’s exactly the sort of glamour you’d expect from the Gabors, a very distinct European meets Hollywood style.

The story of the SR-71 Blackbird sonic booms that shattered the windows of Kelly Johnson, Zsa Zsa Gabor and President Nixon’s houses
The SR-71 Blackbird
The SR-71, the most advanced member of the Blackbird family that included the A-12 and YF-12, was designed by a team of Lockheed personnel led by Clarence “Kelly” Johnson, then vice president of Lockheed’s Advanced Development Company Projects, commonly known as the “Skunk Works” and now a part of Lockheed Martin.
SR-71 T-Shirts
Tumblr media
CLICK HERE to see The Aviation Geek Club contributor Linda Sheffield’s T-shirt designs! Linda has a personal relationship with the SR-71 because her father Butch Sheffield flew the Blackbird from test flight in 1965 until 1973. Butch’s Granddaughter’s Lisa Burroughs and Susan Miller are graphic designers. They designed most of the merchandise that is for sale on Threadless. A percentage of the profits go to Flight Test Museum at Edwards Air Force Base. This nonprofit charity is personal to the Sheffield family because they are raising money to house SR-71, #955. This was the first Blackbird that Butch Sheffield flew on Oct. 4, 1965.
The Blackbird design originated in secrecy during the late 1950s with the A-12 reconnaissance aircraft that first flew in April 1962 and remained classified until 1976. President Lyndon Johnson publicly announced the existence of the YF-12A interceptor variant on Feb. 29, 1964, more than half a year after its maiden flight. The SR-71 completed its first flight on Dec. 22, 1964.
The Blackbird was designed to cruise at “Mach 3+,” just over three times the speed of sound or more than 2,200 miles per hour and at altitudes up to 85,000 feet.

Two Sonic Booms
With aircraft, this phenomenon is caused by bow and stern waves — traveling at the speed of sound — getting forced together (or compressed) because they can’t get out of the way of the faster moving plane. In “smooth flight” the united wave — now a shock wave — starts at the nose of the aircraft and ends at the tail. As the plane passes through, the wave attains a pressure imbalance (called an “N” wave due to its shape) and that’s when the boom happens.
The following video features the Audio Recording of SR-71 Blackbird Sonic Booms. Listen here to hear what a double sonic boom sounds like!
youtube
In reality, there are two booms that happen. One when that reaches the observer and one when the pressure returns to normal.

Did you know the SR-71 Blackbird sonic booms shattered the windows of Kelly Johnson, Zaza Gabor and President Nixon’s houses?
Kelly Johnson
Tumblr media
‘Kelly Johnson [The head of Lockheed’s Vaunted Skunk Works, the division that developed the SR-71 Blackbird itself] had a busy life outside Lockheed. He and his wife Althea Louise Young built a house in Encino, in the San Fernando Valley, 10 miles west of Lockheed’s facilities. They kept horses, and eventually acquired a working ranch, Star Lane, in the Santa Ynez Valley, north of Santa Barbara. Johnson maintained his own farm machinery in a 4,800-square-foot shop that he had built, and whose huge size and strong construction were a source of pride for him. The rumor is… that a test flight SR-71 flew over Johnson’s ranch and broke several of his large windows. But he didn’t have the nerve to make a complaint.’

The Stunning $26.5 Million Patiño Palace in Portugal
Back in the 1950s, Antenor Patiño was one of the world’s richest men, having amassed a fortune as heir to his father’s tin-mining business. So like any hedonistic multi-billionaire, he built himself a summer vacation home.
Only Señor Antenor went a little overboard, constructing a spectacular 36,000-square-foot, 14-bedroom palace on a hill high above Cascais, near Portugal’s capital Lisbon. He dubbed the place Patiño Palace, and filled it with jaw-dropping amenities like a bowling pavilion, a Roman-sized swimming pool, a Hollywood-style screening room, a romantic tea house and a library inspired by the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Biblioteca Joanina at the University of Coimbra.
Of course, Antenor and his wife Beatriz also threw magnificent parties here. Their legendary “Party of the Parties” in 1968 had over 1,000 invited guests, including A-listers like Audrey Hepburn, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Henry Ford and a who’s-who of Rockefellers, Rothschilds and Niarchoses.
Now, 39 years after Patiño’s death, his astonishing palace is on the market for an equally astonishing €23 million, or roughly $26.5 million.
“Nothing comes close to describing just how magnificent this property is. It is a true palace fit for royalty,” Macarena Osorno, listing broker with Portugal Sotheby’s International Realty, tells Robb Report.
According to Osorno, you’d be forgiven for thinking the place was built in the 1700s, not 1957. The main house, with its stunning barrel-tile roof and imposing arched facade overlooking ornate, manicured gardens, was inspired by 18th Century Portuguese architecture. Inside it’s all soaring carved-wood ceilings and walls decorated with frescoes and hand-painted tiles dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries.
“There is a real museum-quality about the house. Strolling through the rooms is like stepping back in time. There are not enough words to describe how impressive it,” she adds.
Patiño fell in love with the hills around Estoril, 20 minutes south of Lisbon, back in the early 1950s after visiting a well-to-do friend. He found a 124-acre farm on a hilltop overlooking the Atlantic Ocean to build his dream palace. At the time, Patiño had multiple homes around the world, including a sprawling town house on New York’s Fifth Avenue and a nearly 28,000-square-foot mansion on Paris’ famed Avenue Foch. In 2010, the latter would list for $140 million, making it the second most expensive residential property in the world at the time.
Following Beatriz Patiño’s death in 2009, the palace was acquired by a local bank and all but 7.6 acres of land around it were sold to developers to create Quinta do Patiño, a super-exclusive, super-secure gated development of 93 homes and 55 apartments. More recently, the palace was bought by a large corporation that has been using it as a company retreat and private conference center.
Spread out over three floors, the main house features a stunning double-height entrance hall with arched ceilings. A grand marble staircase leads up to an elegant balcony with hand-carved stone balustrades.
On the first floor, the majestic, wooden-ceilinged dining room is lined with hand-painted frescos, as is the Chinese-inspired reception room, while the wood-paneled “Joanina” library needs to be seen to be believed. This floor also holds two giant bedrooms with living rooms that, according to Orsono, could each be used as a master suite. (We’d take the one with the ceiling fresco and four-poster bed.) Another 12 ensuite bedrooms can be found on the second floor.
From the first floor, take the long staircase lined with traditional hand-painted blue Portuguese tile down to a vast subterranean lower level. Here there’s a huge entertaining area and a cinema room with its original Hollywood-style projectors. As Beatriz Patiño was well-known for her stunning jewelry, she had a safe room built to store her gems. You’ll find that here, too, complete with its bank-vault-style door and rows of glass-fronted display cabinets bathed in red light.
Outside, in a stand-alone, ivy-covered pavilion, is the elegant bowling alley that still has its original electric Brunswick workings. Back in 1973, Architectural Digest devoted a four-page story to it. Osorno reckons it would make the perfect fitness room and spa. Another stand-alone pavilion close to the pool was designed for Beatriz Patiño to enjoy an afternoon cup of tea. It’s peppermint paneled walls and ceiling could be straight out of Palm Beach.
“We are really hoping a private buyer purchases Patiño Palace to enjoy with their family and carry on the history,” notes Osorno.
