I have a request for One Piece Men (Monster Trio + Ace, Sabo, Law, and Kid) having a S/O who is a tiny little lady who has a high metabolism and thusly has an appetite that could rival Luffy’s.

I imagine them sitting in a restaurant eating dinner, and their S/O is eating a steak half the size of the table and comes with a side of prawns and a baked potato, and some uppity “Almond Mom” sitting at the table next to them says out loud that “Women shouldn’t eat such large portions, because it’s unladylike and makes men feel uncomfortable.” And Reader replies to this with “Oh, I’m very sorry if I made YOU uncomfortable ma’am. After stopping on an island and wandering in the local town for a hour or so you and Luffy decide to stop somewhere to eat.

Upon arrival, you and Luffy sit at a table together and order almost everything in the restaurant’s supply. The face on many of the customers and even workers were shocked to see how much you two ordered. Neither you nor Luffy had a care in the world while you devoured your food.

While taking a moment to wipe your mouth, you hear a woman say, “Girls like her are the reason we use our manners. it’s unlady like and makes men uncomfortable-“

“My boyfriend doesn’t seem uncomfortable. Matter of fact, the only one here who looks uncomfortable is you. See, right now I’m storing as much energy as possible because me and my boyfriend are going to be fucking like rabbits. Teach your daughter to be cunt if you want but don’t bring me into it.”

After hearing you respond the woman sat there shocked for a good minute then, she snatched up her daughter’s arm and dragged her out the restaurant, fuming.

Luffy simply chuckled, “That was hot. Can we go back now?”

Now for the story

After a long day of Zoro getting you both lost, he decided that he needed a drink. Upon that revelation you found a nearby cavern.

Zoro ordered himself a couple rounds of drink while ordering you almost everything on the menu. Zoro every now and then snatched a couple fries but mostly left the food to you.

While you’re both enjoying your company, you hear a shrill voice say, “women like her are the reason we use our table manners, girls aren’t supposed to eat like that, it makes men uncomfortable-“

“I’m not uncomfortable,” Zoro quickly responds.

“The only uncomfortable one is you, miss. Now if you don’t mind me I need as much energy for tonight as I can get, because my very much so not uncomfortable boyfriend is going to rock my world.”

The woman simply kept her mouth shut and went back to eating.

Zoro laughs heartily, “that lady has never seen Luffy eat, that’s actually disturbing compared to you eating. Let’s pay and go home though, so I can ‘rock your world’”

Vinsmoke Sanji:

When he first met you he used his cooking skills to try to win your heart

It worked

He honestly loves to cook for you tho

Brings you with him to shop for food so that you can pick what you want him to cook

Which tbh is how yall would get into the situation

“Woahhhh!” You say mesmerized by all the different products. “Look, Sanji, that would be super yummy.”

Sanji who will do whatever you ask, picks up the item you were looking at. Arms full of food, you’re talking about everything you want Sanji to cook for dinner.

All of a sudden you hear a woman say, “hear what she’s saying? No girl is supposed to eat that much food. It’s unhealthy and men find it disturbing.” The little girl she’s talking to simply nods.

Aggravated by the woman’s words, you respond, “It actually is healthy thank you. Girls can eat however much they want. Men don’t find eating disturbing and I can tell you that, because my boyfriend right here plans to cook this food for me and our crew.”

“Damn straight,” Sanji back you up proudly.

Having nothing more to say, you both walk away from the woman and head toward the docks for the ship.

Portgas D. Ace:

The first thing he said to you was “got quite the appetite, huh?” With a smirk on his face ofc

You turn back to your food and continue eating, after a minute or so, Ace woke up. He had asked what happened and you filled him in on what you said.

One that should be bound for bloodshed yet creates a certain tinge of happiness as he closes the curtains behind him and sits down on the small chair facing you.

“It’s good to see you again Mihawk, how has the traveling been?” You say this while leaning against your palm that rested on the stand.

Golden ringed eyes stare at you, for a moment you can distinguish a crinkle of affection.

“They’ve been monotonous as usual. Overzealous fools who think they can challenge me”

“An, so like zoro?”

He chuckles at that, distantly outside the tent you hear a distinct “Oi!” Before the sounds of Sanji kicking him. Their bickering fades into the background as Nami presumably silences dragged them away.

Mihawk leans over, and suddenly you're enveloped in his arms. It’s perhaps a bit unexpected, though with Mihawk things were always a gamble. You half anticipated for him to leave without a hug, but seeing that he hadn’t made you all the more happier.

Mihawk's hug feels secure and protective, as if he were a shield to the rest of the world and its hardships.

Hands that have seen endless fighting and held the hilt of blood a rusted sword hold you.

His hold is not gentle but it is perhaps the softest Mihawk could ever be.

And that’s ok.

Because in his hold it feels as if you're safe.

That he would take on the world to ensure that even when you’d left his arms you’d never have to worry.

And while that’s a far off dream, knowing Mihawk he’d try.

And that’s perhaps the most comforting thought bending it all.

Mihawk would try for you if you’d ask.

If you’d ask, you could have stayed at his abode.

If you’d asked he would do all that he could to ensure you’d never have to die and reappear again.

But he’d only do that if you’d ask.

He didn’t make that decision for you.

Didn’t decide that his judgment was better than yours and impede on your ability to make decisions.

He might have disagreed with some of your decisions but he respected you to make them.

And even more so, he respected you even if he was wrong.

He would never admit to it, but in those few moments you’d proven him wrong a certain pride shone in eagle eyes.

A certain uplift of the corner of his mouth.

“The humandrills miss you…I have a room open if you’d ever require it” it’s said quietly, like a secret exchanged beneath candlelight. It’s a valuable moment, it reminds you of that thing that zoro had said.

Vulnerability was not something easily handed out by swordsmen, especially not one like Mihawk. A weakness, a so-called wound on his back or in this case his heart. It’s not something to be taken lightly. But luckily you know this well.

His mouth twitches, sloping upwards ever so slightly.

To him the hug you give is a moment where he can momentarily be at ease and feel as if he had a goal to accomplish.

Throughout aimless travel he tries to find his match yet all that come to him are disappointments. Battle after battle of people not being able to even land a single blow on him. It’s a constant that leaves him bitter and resigned as he’d toll away in his castle alone.

But with you in arms that carry the burden of being the best he finds himself with a mission that seems ever so slightly more achievable.

He could protect you as best he could.

Though that is an equally daunting task considering your penchant for death, it feels more feasible so long as you remain in his hold.

Small arms that are wrapped around his neck mean no harm.

He has no use in being on edge, not when you’d barely had the will to ever pick up a blade. Even when your life depended on it.

For a short moment the bloodthirsty marine hunter feels at ease.

You do not see him smile but you can feel the warmth he exudes when his hand cards through your hair.

Long text about my head canon/ world building on abo zosan fic I'm working on.

Anatomy, Heats, Ruts and some hot take on bitching.

Betas

Do not experience heats or ruts but they can go into pseudo heats and ruts to help their pack-mates regulate and balance pheromones.

They are masters at balancing group scents and neutralize pheromones in tense situations. Betas can thus manipulate an alpha or omega in a contesting group with smells that make them less inclined to attack and/or fight. Betas are praised for this ability and while a crew may exist without an alpha or omega, without a beta it is very hard to keep the balance in the group.

Usopp thinks about this a WHOLE lot. Not that he stresses about this or feels any pressure, no way! Didn't you know the great scenter Usopp not only scented a whole country on the brink of civil war he scented them so good and into such harmony and balance he was crowned their hero and offered their most beautiful princess to marry. He had to decline the offer of course as a brave and powerful warrior of the sea he needed to set sail.

No? Well now you know, you silly goose.

Ruts

Alpha men and women have a penis and can impregnate others, only female alphas can get impregnated as they also have a vagina and birth canal. However due to much higher hormone production they may find it harder to get pregnant than betas and omegas.

Alphas go into ruts typically each month. Normally a Rut is over in two to tree days, unless spent with a mate. If their partner are an omega in heat, then it normally adapts up to the omegas breeding need, normally about a week but can be longer or shorter. Ruts need not be sexual, some just feel a heightened need to scent their packs, increase of aggression or posturing that a beta (or old alpha) may help balance with pheromones. Often more needy and want to be seen and praised for their efforts of pleasing their pack. Some alphas sleep a lot after a rut due to they exhaust themself by helping their pack and or training, fighting etc.

Depending on their health they can "jump" in their rut cycle. For example if very sick and/or injured. But also if they are suffering from severe mental illness, their pheromones and nervous systemen may "jump" some ruts to preserve energy and or protect the alpha from losing control and starting an unnecessary fight. The other extreme that can happen is an increase of hormones and pheromones making the alpha go into an overdrive rut. Those ruts turns them very aggressive, they get territorial and challenge alphas and opponents that they normally never would due to obvious power disparity, but also gets a boost of adrenaline and endurance. Zoro may enter this state when fighting in in life or death fights like the one in Wano. (or most of his big fights tbh)

Alphas are normally well equipped and all have the tissue needed at the base of their penises to create a knot. Knotting during sex is a euphoric experience for alphas and the emotional and hormonal high they get from knotting and staying locked together with their partner is a need in an alpha, especially during ruts. They can therefore sometimes be accused of asking too much, too early in a sexual relationship as knotting may not be every partners cup of tea so to speak.

Omegas are better equipped to stand knotting due to their own high it may bring during sex as they are deeply affected by alpha pheromones. Alphas can mate and bond to whoever, but are instinctively submissive to omegas and their moods. This is probably to not hurt them during heat and/or their own rut. They may find it hard to deny an omegas request, especially if they are in the same pack.

They also show this more submissive behavior (showing their neck, grunts, chuffs, whining like big babies) when they want to be included in pack building/nest bonding but as omegas normally don't let alphas into their nests they may be excluded at times. When they do get allowed into a cuddle puddle or nest cuddle they are like happy dogs or lazy cats depending how they may be affected by this kind of closeness. (I like to think Zoro gets SO happy when included, but try to be stoic about it and not appear needy when the non alphas in the crew scent or cuddles in the nest or on the deck. Luffy is a special case as the pack can keenly feel his extreme need for closeness. That does not give him entrance tickets to nest bondings thou.) Alphas often feel a need to please omegas, even if they are not sexually attracted or bonded to them. Omegas are in the same boat toward alphas, they are more likely to fawn and preen in front of an alpha in pre rut to please and maintain balance in the pack. For omega/alpha partners this can be very exiting and thrilling.

Alphas are often doting on their packs and want to have an eye on them, and during rut this instinct can go into such overdrive they turn aggressive against people that are not part of their group. This often makes them isolate in a rut room (especially if they have a sexual rut) or in the enclosed territory their pack have scented so they may be around and be soothed by their pack. Other alphas in the pack may spar and play figth to help each other blow off some steam. If they experience a sexual rut and they do have a partner/mate that are willing to help them the rut may end quicker, But there are plenty of toys they may use. Knotting in a fleshlight may not be as good as the real deal, but it takes the edge off and helps them throu the rut more comfortably.

Most of the time an alphas rut is very stable once it passes their presentation/adolescent years. For rut jumping and overdrive it needs to be rather a serious illness, hormone issues and/or a traumatic event that deeply affect the alpha. Examples are sudden loss of their mate or child, losing their whole pack, bitching, serious traumatic injury or sickness, (Physical and or mental)

When in rut an alphas scent is stronger, sticks for longer and is much easier to smell from long distances if not using salves/scent muting aids. Zoro is especially bad at muting his scent as he have used it and his pheromones too aggressively dominate opponents in his start as a bounty hunter. The crew grow used to it but others may find him extra intimidating due to this.

Both Zoro and Luffy experience rut jumpings in the two year time skip when separated from their pack. Luffy who suffers from separation anxiety have actually quite a few problems with rut jumping. After marineford he did not have a rut for almost a whole year. Zoros rut beacome unregular, something he had never experienced before. Took him almost a year to center himself and getting control of his ruts again. This training did give him an strong control over himself when in rut and/or faced with others in rut/heat so not to be as affected by others pheromones and smell. Is the most stable in the straw hats for a reason. ( But is also an expression of his need for control especially after thriller bark and 2 year TS)

Heats

Both female and male omegas have a birth canal and vagina. Male omegas also have a penis and testicles, but are smaller than betas and alphas. Both can be impregnated, only male omegas may impregnate but may have lower chances to do so than betas and alphas.

One unusual and sometimes explotited thing with omega biology is that they can carry litters from more than one sire. If they have multiple partners during a heat (especially if there are alphas that keep triggering the heat to last and or restart) the children born may be from all of the partners. Some omegas also have double pregnancies. That is to say they get pregnant again during the pregnancy and may birth another pup about one to two months after the first litter is born. This takes a heavy toll on the omega but is one of the reasons omegas are sought after in sexual slavery or in cultures where a lot of heirs are a priority and they are more or less looked upon as breeding tools.

Omegas suffers from sexual slavery the most along with female mermaids and may be offered as prices and accessories to the wealthy and powerful. Alabasta and Water 7 are places that have long tried to stop this discrimination and are looked upon as safe havens in the grand line. Kamabakka kingdom is another, more secret place. Wano protects their omegas, but the sexist practices against women also affects omegas whether male or female. They are often considered even more in need of protecting and are not allowed to carry the sword. (We see traces of this in Zoro's upbringing.)

Omegas in heats are more vulnerable for attack due to how their bodies react during heats and this is one of the reasons they are looked (down) upon as in bigger need of protection in many countries as well as why they are discriminated against.

They experience heats every three months. When presenting during adolescence it tends to come and go in waves and they may have two heats in just one month, or one every month. Adolescence is typically a hard time for omegas and they need family/their pack to be balanced. The less secure environment, the more fluctuations until their heats stabilises in the typical three month cycle.

Most heats are familial and they spend it with their beta and/or omega pack mates. Normally a heat lasts for about a week, and is really intense three to four days. Depending on the person it may be the first, middle or the last day of the heat.

Symptoms of a heat is usually fever, cramps, overproduction of slick, oversensitivity to lots of fabrics, increased and more sensitive sense of smell. A higher sensitivity to obey timbre and scruffing, which is why most omegas want to isolate in their nests or dens with trusted ones during heats. The need to look after their pack increases and may manifest by scenting and cuddling. But may also express more controlling behaviors to keep an eye on everybody and keep them close. They feel a strong need to protect their space where their people are.

Omegas smell very good during heats and one of the reasons alphas avoid them unless they are mates, as they may trigger a rut and thus trigger the omega into a sexual heat.

A sexual heat is normally a sweaty affair and if unlucky lasts the whole week in a breeding frenzy. Most omegas find this very tiring and normally don't have the stamina to pleasure themself during a whole week. If exposed or triggered by Alphas they may go into a breeding heat/ frenzy, their need to mate/breed completely overtake and they go almost feral. This can be used agains omegas and why they may show a more aggressive attitude against alphas. While in a sexual heat and without a partner toys helps take the edge off and lower the need of sex. And stable pack mates may help stabilize their pheromone and hormone production back to a standard heat.

I like to think there are knot rings they use and/or dildos that are equipped with pheromones/hormones that simulate the experience of mating. When used this eases the omega out of the sexual heat so they can faster return to their pack. Knotting and getting breed helps the heat end faster unless the alpha can't control their phermones and kick-starts another heat.

Hot take? Omegas are the most territorial ones. Once they have a pack they are very aggressive about protecting it. Alphas help scent and secure the "borders" of their omegas territory. If there is no omega in a pack the alpha takes on the role to scent and maintain territory but is not as defensive about it (unless in rut) as an omega may be.

Sunny is an example of a territory, and the nesting space an omega create is off limits to the pack unless invited in. An alpha that gets to cuddle and get pampered in an omegas nest after an injury for example is very lucky as they are most often excluded from this space due to their smell. Luffy can sit and look at the nest in the doorway with the biggest puppy eyes and only get snarls and hisses from Sanji. He is the most territorial omega anybody ever will meet.

But, he also takes VERY good care of his pack. As he makes food even during heats (unless it is too intense and he is incapacitated.) he does have problems denying women of course even if they are alphas, but not even an alpha lady is allowed near his nest unless under special circumstances. His instincts can go haywire and he borders on feral when policing his space, and he feels extra protective about the galley when stressed.

Bitching.

Personally I don't really like the idea that one can turn another alpha into an omega by bitching. (I have been thinking too much about reproductive function and suddenly growing them because bitching just feels wrong for me, lol). In my au a bitched alpha is an alpha that have been through abuse and/or traumatic events. Examples can be rape, slavery, domestic abuse, loss of their whole pack when very young and left to fend for themself, aggressive and distressing force scentings from other alphas that show dominance and leave their scent on the other, etc.

The term bitching is thus a derogatory term and is locked down upon by many.

For one to be "bitched" an alpha have suffered this in such intense and long period of time their pheromone production is forever damaged and their nervous system can't regulate it at all. They may smell like pre puberty alphas and their pheromones always smell "broken" when released, especially when upset/when they feel strong emotions. Ruts are often irregular, the need to show aggression to protect themselfs often turns into fear and posturing. A bitching often happens when the alpha is young and defenseless growing up, but may also happen to adult alphas that been so badly traumatized they can never properly recover. This practise is often used to keep dominance in a pack by ruling with fear, or used in war/torture. Some pirate fleets (and marines) are not below this behavior and they terrifies the areas where they roam. Even betas and omegas can technically be "bitched" too but alphas are seemingly more sensitive to getting their phermone and hormone production disrupted/destroyed.

She thanked the barkeep as he slid her drink to her, giving another soft hum though in appreciation this time, as she took a small sip. "Hell yeah, that's the good shit." She side-eyed Zoro with a small but genuine smile, grateful at the small token.

"...Thank you. It's nice to have good company, for once."

At his question, she glanced down at the book she'd stolen with a slight frown. She took another sip before admitting in a slightly embarrassed tone,

"Neither, actually. I'm just... wandering. No place to go, ya know?"

Her tone changed quickly as she continued,

"Which is fine, I guess, it is what it is! Besides, I get to encounter interesting people this way - though, I will admit you are the first green haired person I've come across."

Lara gave him a genuine grin when he gave his name, connecting the dots in her head with a slight shake of her head. She finished off her drink before giving a chuckle, placing the glass aside as she rests her forearms comfortably on the counter.

"Ah, he's not wrong! Life without meat is no life at all," She joked lightly, her grin growing.

When her new found friend spoke to the bartender, she couldn't help but lay a hand over her heart with a teasing comment of,

"Damn, consider me flattered, Zoro! I don't mind a bit, though I won't lie, I already paid ahead," She gave a sheepish chuckle and drummed her fingers on the counter while giving the barkeep a side-eyed smirk. He flinched and moved to his pocket and she laughed, waving him off. "Keep it - consider it a tip."

She then lightly kicked out her leg, tapping the empty stool beside her with the side of her boot as she offered,

"Feel free to join me if we're gunna drink the hard stuff."

Hey! Thanks for tagging me in the WIP post! I don't have a lot of active WIPs, myself -- it takes me approximately 90 years to finish writing anything, so all I've got at the moment is the 100k+ BNHA fic I've been working on literally since before I even started One Piece lol 😅😅 -- but I'm having so much fun reading through all your ideas! They all sound fantastic (and honestly, I love your writing so much that I would happily read anything you wrote), but I'm maybe the most interested in the Water 7 romance dawn trio fic! I just adore those three in any setting, and I just made it to Water 7 in my first read-through of the manga, so I guess I've got it in my head. 😅 I'll admit, though, I'm also a bit too intrigued by the Sabo/Koala fic; why *is* Caesar Clown the only other character tagged...? 👀 (and, perhaps more importantly, will I regret asking lol? 😅🤣)

Thank you, talking about these WIPs is a lot of fun so I love to get into them a little more :') Funny thing about that Water 7 fic specifically is that I made the silly goose decision to write it on the ao3 editor and ended up not saving a backup copy before it expired, so I've lost MOST of it 😭😭😭 BUT! But that ISN'T dissuading me, this is still a fic I plan on getting done someday!! I got an ask from @saraptor-art about this one too, I'll scavenge my files for a decent snippet from the little that I could salvage and share it in that ask, but until then– let me share a few more details about the fic!

The idea is that the Straw Hats get to spend an extra day in Water 7 before their adventures there canonically start (I mean, if you pretend there's a little gap in the timeline, it *could* be canon compliant...), where Luffy goes on ahead as usual to see what adventures the new island offers, without consulting anyone or sticking around for a plan to be made. Zoro goes after him WITHOUT CONSULTING ANYONE, with a undeservedly confident "It's fine I'll bring him back" which means a sensible member of the crew now needs to go retrieve them both. That ends up being Nami, who finds Zoro first and promptly realises she lost his ass again just as soon as she finds Luffy. There are some mini adventures from there that were mostly an excuse for me to explore what I think Water 7 is like beyond what we see of it in the animanga! BTW, they do find Zoro again, he's part of some of it before he inevitably wanders off a second time. Nami also has an agenda on the side to map out the city itself when she realises the official map is so poorly done it's aggravating XD

The Caesar Clown question!!!😂😂 okay, it's definitely a little cursed that he's there. It's in the vein of him discovering that there are "spies" aboard this ship and making a huge fuss getting everyone involved and leading them to what he thinks are definitely spies looking for their secrets...hint hint, everyone ends up seeing something they probably wish they didn't. Or maybe some did, a few of these unnamed characters are nasty.

21 and zoro hehe

21. “You knocked on my door at 1 in the morning, to cuddle?” (please don’t send in some more)

Even though it were merely minutes, it sure felt like hours, days even, that you were standing in front of the wooden door, your fist frozen in front of the dark material.

Your fingers twitched slightly in nervous manner. You were so close to him and yet, so far away at the same time. Zoro was fast asleep behind the door, while you were standing still in the hallway, your thoughts consuming every nerve in your body. 

Maybe it was kinda risky. But then again- if you didn’t take the first step now, he would never. It was clear as water after all; you and the green haired swordsman were attracted to each other. A lot. Have been with the first step you took on the ship. But it never got further than fleeting gazes, never got further than both of your fingertips touching on one morning. 

But you needed more; you longed for more and the little voice in your mind told you that he, as well, wanted the same. The same voice was also the reason your eyes weren’t able to close once the day had turned to night and everyone fell asleep. As more time kept ticking, your walls started to crumble and soon enough, you were searching for a source of warmth; preferably from Zoro. 

Just do it, you think, pressing the fingertips tighter into the flat of your palm. What can go wrong? With eyes closed and breath stuck in your throat, you connect your knuckles to the wood– all confidence running away once the sound echoes through the hall louder than expected. 

Your eyes turned big. What even were you thinking, knocking on his door in god knows what time of the night? You took a step back, the blood draining from your face. You pushed your hands to your chest, head turning; finding the quickest way to hide. What you seemed to miss was the soft thud that came from behind the door; more less the steps becoming louder as the male came closer to your panicked figure lingering in hall. 

And that’s what he sees once he opens the door, arm raised to rub the sleep away from his eye: You standing there, eyes big and mouth open in shock. “Y/N?” Zoro was surprised, but more so pleasantly surprised to see you. “Are you�� okay?” 

You gulped. “Y-yeah.” Your gaze was anywhere but on him. “I thought I heard something so I tried to check on you.” You lie through gritted teeth, almost face palming yourself from the stupidity that was rolling from your tongue. 

“Oh.” He nods, scratching the back of his neck, the muscle in his arm twitching slightly. Maybe you were thinking about having his arm around you, but that was okay. It was natural. Happens to the best of us.. “If it’s too uncomfortable for you to stay in your cabin… I guess you could stay in my room for the night?” Now it was his turn to avoid your eyes, the slightest hint of red on his cheek. He was shrugging his shoulders, you did the same. 

“I-I mean, yeah… I’d actually like that.” 

“Okay.” 

You nod again. 

“Okay.”

After you both stand there for a few more minutes, you break the ice and get your figures to his bed, which is still warm from him laying there moments ago. As you both lay there in silence, frozen with a few centimetres afar from each other (both staring at the ceiling like robots), you hear him sigh softly. “Are you cold?” You turn your head to look at him. “Because… I tend to be warm.”

You’re glad the room is otherwise dark. “It is kind of cold.” You mumble, a smile now sneaking its way to your face. The sheets start to ruffle softly– him probably nodding his head. “Can I…?”

“Yeah!” He answers, almost instant, making the smile grow even bigger. “I mean, sure.”

His skin is just as warm as you expected it to be. With your head pressed against the side of him, the bare skin of him better than any pillow for your cheek, your eyes turn heavy soon. His scent, which mingles with yours now, is just as addicting. You notice his right arm laying flat above you, you not knowing how hard he battling himself up in his head to just put it around you. 

“Y/N?” He asks after a few silent moments, his fingertips now grazing your back softly. You almost melt. 

“Yeah?” You breath into his skin, not noticing the goose bumps spreading across his skin. 

“Did you really come to my room,” he mumbles. “because there was a sound?”

You stay silent for a few seconds. “No. I lied.” 

You can feel him nodding. “Did… Why did you come?”

The silence between you turns tense at this. It’s dark in his room and even though the sheets around you both a warm and soft, the edge of the situation is sharp. You know that this questions holds more than it first seems to be. So you take a small breath. 

“I guess I just.. missed you.”

A loud breath escapes his chest. “I see.” You nod your head, feeling a bit silly. “I did too.” He confesses, voice uncharacteristically quiet. And just like that, the tension falls, being replaced with warmth that consumes you both at the same time. 

“So…” He speaks up after some minutes, now pulling his fingertips through the strands of your hair. You were almost asleep, your breathing as soft as his skin touching you. “You knocked on my door at 1 in the morning, to cuddle?”

You can’t help but snort at this. “I wouldn’t really put it that way.”

“But it’s basically the truth, isn’t it?” He continues, his voice hinting at his amusement. 

“Zoro…” You softly hit his side. “Just go to sleep.” 

You can’t see it, but he is smirking now. “Pretty bossy for someone who can’t sleep without me.”

He hears you turning your body, hiding away in the comforter. 

He would never confess to the butterflies swimming in his stomach, he would never confess to having your skin against his being the best thing to be woken up in the night. And he certainly wouldn’t confess that he wanted the night to stay for as long as he could. 

But.. maybe… if you asked him. Maybe then he would.
