It hadn't exactly been intentional, nor was it remotely desired, but when Wild had nearly drowned himself, Legend hadn't had much of a choice.

What he hadn't expected was Hyrule immediately pulling out a flute and playing a tune upon seeing him swim up the river with Wild in tow.

"What are you doing?" Legend asked, genuinely baffled.

Hyrule yelped. "This one talks!"

"Do shapeshifting merfolk usually talk?" Four asked nervously.

Sky squinted, his harp already pulled out, before he cocked his head to the side. "...Vet? Is that actually you?"

"Why wouldn't it be me?!" Legend threw his hands in the air, nearly letting go of Wild, who yelped. "Shapeshifting merfolk?? What kind of insanity have you guys run into?"

Warriors burst out laughing. "Aren't you the prettiest thing?"

Legend's face turned redder than his tail. "Shut up! This item comes in handy, thank you very much! We'd be down a cook if it weren't for me!"

Wild sank into the water so only his eyes were visible, the tips of his ears tinged pink in apologetic embarrassment.

"It's certainly a very useful item," Time commented with a smile.

"I'll stick to my Zora armor," Twilight muttered as he chuckled.

"Can I try it?" Wind asked eagerly, running towards the shore.

Legend sighed, dragging Wild to the others. "Sure."

Legend really should have known better. The tidal wave that crashed upon the entire group from Wind's splashing soaked everyone to the bone, and the ensuing water war caused such rivalries that it took a week before the war had settled.

Sidon (if the above is true): I imagine there must be feelings involved when dating your sister's crush/ boyfriend/ fiancee (wherever it got to for Mipha and Link). Does it feel sweet like a connection to her or like a funny family trait, or does it feel weird? are their mixed feelings because obviously you love your sister but do you ever get the impression that had the calamity not succeeded the first time, and had your sister not died, you might not be in this wonderful relationship? is there any gladness that it did happen? if so how does that make you feel?

🦈 - I would have no clue how Mipha feels about it because as you said she's dead, but I can imagine she'd be happy for me. I am glad that I can be in this relationship with Link, though I would appreciate having Mipha here with me. In a different universe, maybe I'd be dating Bazz or Rivan while Link would be dating my sister!

If it isn't clear, apologies and let me explain. nouns in this version of Zoran are marked for case and number. with Nominative (subject of a sentence), accusative (object), and Dative (indirect object) for the former and singular (one), paucal (a few), plural (many), and collective (all) for the latter.

Case is encoded through reduplication, the first one takes the first three letters of the root, the second only the first two in addition to the previous one.

Number is marked by taking the first and/or last sound of the root and epenthesize it at the beginning and/or end of the word. the sounds go at the beginning for paucal, the end for plurals, and both for collective.

note that reduplication must happen first, so the sounds change with each case. also, in the accusative paucal and collective the /r/ sound forms an illegal cluster at the beginning so takes the vowel next to it to put in-between itself and the /z/ at the beginning.

I like this system as it's like the waves, bouncing back repeatedly with diminishing strength.
