Ace heaved against the sink refusing to look at himself in the mirror, he's already ill helplessly watching SOME of his friends gone. He didn't need to review, heck, even he knew it JUST happened the case hadn't begun even just a mere hour. He absolute loathed it, to himself and everyone around that dies.

Ace's surely childish, it's in his description. But it never matters, he bluntly lied that part to himself. Masking away of what he had witnessed. He hated it, lying right in front of his friends' face and the people he "saved". Confronting Nathan after his arrival before he was about to get murdered, leading Rupert out by himself without suspicion and no harm was done on him, and Marconi, even though he's a turned man, Ace never thought of saving him before Emilio arrived. He'll just sleep with the headache.

It's a vibrant dawn at the Grimsborough PD, but Ace see's it duller. Distracting was his habit, there's no changing that he's becoming lost.

"Earth to Ace," David poked his cheek.

Ace blinked. "Huh? Oh sorry, what were you saying?" He's masking up again.

David's brow raised. "You've been distracting lately, what's got into your mind Ace?"

"It's nothing," Ace used the bullshit move, but it didn't matter since he's not it a good mood today. As expected, David rolled his eyes, "Saying 'it's nothing' doesn't prove your habit had died down. You're seriously doodling like a zombie without any second thoughts."

Ace looked down with his work, and yes, he's absentmindedly doodling again on the half empty sheet. He knew that would happen when he let his thoughts elsewhere.

He ponders, "Where's Gloria?"

"Fetching up her son and dealing with her ex-husband. It's just the two of us, Ace." David shrugged.

"And Zoe?" That paused David to answer further. Why is he asking this??

"Still with the psychiatrists, why?"

Ace sighed, scoots off from his seat, "Wanna go?" That caught David off guard, but agreed, nonetheless. He hasn't been visiting lately as he's been depressed. But since Ace was kind to offer, it wouldn't hurt to try.

He didn't notice his partner's ghost frown.

Heya, sorry for my two-week delay on my art. I'll be taking a skit about my oc's character development on story board. But for now, it'll be bits and parts of the story. Don't fret, this is my AU.

What's your favorite "killer becomes a victim" case in CC?

Pretty self-explanatory. I tend to think those cases are some of the best in all of CC, and several of these cases are quite popular, so I'm curious--out of all of them, which one was your favorite?

Note: I'm only counting cases where someone who was revealed to be the killer of a case who then becomes a victim, so people who masterminded/ordered, but did not personally commit, murders such as Archie Rochester or Natasha Romanova, people who killed someone off-screen but weren't convicted for it during the game, such as Father Donovan or Ruth Wu, or even people who murdered someone on-screen but weren't arrested and convicted, such as Denise Daniels, don't count.

Thanks to Tumblr's poll limits, I couldn't put all 12 cases where the killer is the victim. The cases I decided to leave out were Death without Parole, where Kev O'Connell is killed, and The Third Degree, where Theresa Rosenthal was killed, considering I figured that those were probably the least memorable out of all of these cases. If those were your favorite "killer becomes the victim" cases, uh, sorry about that.

TBH Travel In Time could have been a lot more interesting if messing about with the past and all that caused some characters that were previously dead in the OG timeline to show up during the altered present - the whole butterly effect thing and all that. Like, this person died/this timeline of events was altered, which means that this person that was previpusly dead is still alive, and we see them as a suspect or something in the altered present.

I am fully aware that this probably wouldn't have been likely at all, but hey, it's a concept that I thought up in like five seconds, I'm being dragged through the metaphorical bush that is my criminal case hyperfixation, and I just miss Marconi and Zoe, okay?

9-The episode "Too cruel for school" is a tribute to Riverdale since the director is a fan of the Archie comics.

11-The actors of Ad Astra members have an Instagrame acount and post about the serie and behind the scenes.

I feel like this is a constistent issue that Pretty Simple has with their writing. While Pretty Simple is a amazing at creating beautiful and tragic characters with so much charm that you can't help but love them, giving said charming characters full character arcs is where they struggle.

Even some of the main characters such as Jones suffer from this, but Zoe and Marconi are the two best examples. They both had incredibly interesting and complex backstories, and both have so much potential and their stories could be games of their own. But instead of fully fleshing out their stories, Pretty Simple chose to kill them off right before their stories can have a proper ending.

I think this goes beyond Pretty Simple and Criminal Case. In general storytellers have been using death as a get out of jail free card when they're not sure which direction to their their characters. A tragic conclusion for the dead character and a potential plot point for the main character? It's a win-win situation! Except now the dead character's story arc has been cut short and we're left with a cheap solution that feels rough and unfinished.

Death is final. Once they're dead, they can't be brought back (well, with a few exceptions). I really don't like using death as a plot tool for this reason, as it limits your storytelling abilities. Once that character dies, it becomes nothing more than a soulless motivation tool for the main character. The "tragedy" of death in fiction is only truly tragic when it's used sparingly, and each the impact of each individual death goes down as the number of deaths goes up.

(Although, the flipside of no characters dying can also feel like a cheap cop-out, so it's very important to strike a good balance between the two)

Fanfiction ideas: (Criminal Case)

TW: Mentions of murder and death

-Emilio Fuller after murdering his father, Tony Marconi is sentenced to life in prison. He feels angry towards his father, and blames him for his current situation. An old friend of Marconi visits Emilio after hearing the tragedy. Ginger is a woman Marconi rescued from a gangster. She tells Emilio what kind of man Tony was, and what he did for her to Emilio. The reason why Tony became a convict in the first place. How will Emilio react?

-A conversation between Gloria and Jones. This takes place after Zoe’s death.

-For the original group of Ad Astra. A particular meeting planning their chaos. Takes place before S5.

(I want to portray their friendship as somewhat toxic. There is no way it was all positive and healthy. I have to put trigger warnings though.)

-What happens in the dome of DreamLife.

This will have different perspectives. Specifically, from employees we see. We will have Rupert’s first, then Philip Hoover’s, Barb Bellamy’s, Wendy Stokes’, Ernesto Vega’s, Shweta Noorani’s, Emilio Fuller’s and finally, Rozetta’s. It will portray what these characters are experiencing while they are under the dome. The dome is a place where many people are put under pressure, and I want to portray it as uncomfortable, tight, and tense. This atmosphere is because of Rozetta. No matter what she does to make the dome feel like home, there will still be some people who would be on the verge of breaking down. I would also like to add some details that aren’t really canon, but will add more to this fanfiction. For example, people like Rosie Summers who are employees in the dome becoming test subjects.

-The childhood of Cathy King/Turner.

I wanted to write the relationship between Cathy and Chief King. Donna King will also be featured of course.

-The backstories of the original Ad Astrans. This could take place in their university days. However, Rozetta’s roots of evil start at her childhood. I might write Christian Bateman’s and Rozetta Pierre’s backstories like that. As for Julia Brine, Joe Warren, and Louis Leroux, their roots could start at their college days.

-Tess Goodwin and Rozetta Pierre being classmates.

I saw a headcanon on Instagram that said Rozetta and Tess could have been classmates. I saw that they were both born in 1992, so there’s a huge possibility they could have been. I liked this idea a lot. I want to write Rozetta and Tess being best friends. Rozetta would see Tess as her equal, and Tess would too. Once Tess was murdered, I had this idea where Rozetta will feel genuinely sad. Cathy will also be present in this story, only as a side character though.

-Rachel Priest and Louis Leroux as co-workers at CNN.

This is the time where Louis applied for CNN. Rachel was the first one to greet him. When she was murdered, he had to temporarily take her place.

(This isn’t supposed to be romantic, I thought it would be cool to let them interact since somebody said Louis kind of parallels Rachel in Ace’s streams. Another reason that this story kind of make sense was because they have a one-year age gap. Louis would have been 28 in 2013, while Rachel was canonically 27 when she died.)
