Okay so! I really enjoyed this season it was fun. I loved the progression of Bel and Zoa’s relationship. I liked that Bel initiated a convo with Gabi after she and Zoa fought, and Gabi picked up that Bel liked Zoa “a lot.” I’m always wary of f/f couples on television saying I love you too soon because I find it really jarring and I respect that they didn’t have Bel say that explicitly, but honestly after everything they’ve been through together I also wouldn’t mind if they did have her say I love you.

Lowkey I’m wondering about the racial politics of the show, like the way the majority of the main and/or sympathetic characters are white or at least white passing (Zoa, Charly, the kid, Mayka, Ibón, Eloy, África, Gabi … also Bel? Her actress is Spanish) and the characters of color, especially the Black characters, are discarded or unsympathetic (Eva, Saúl, Nico … man Nico is a mess and all over the place character-wise). This didn’t particularly bother me while I was watching, but it’s worth thinking about what’s implied even unintentionally. Hey! Thanks so much for the spoiler warning, I hadn't finished by the time I got this and was able to stop reading ahead in plenty of time.

Yeah, I was honestly shocked at the treatment Zoa and Bel got, especially since the trailer had almost no Bel or Bel with Zoa, and a romantic-seeming scene with Nico and Zoa. Given history, people could be forgiven for thinking s2 would return to a love triangle, or worse, kill off Bel. We couldn't have been more wrong.

The show didn't even do the kind of drama or distancing/sidelining that often happens in a second season, where Zoa would get frustrated with Bel's single-mindedness or choose Gabi over her. It was just them together, somehow both the established, grounded couple watching over everyone but also with tentative little romantic moments just for themselves.

I didn't even make that connection between Gabi accusing Zoa of being influenced by Bel and forcing her to reiterate that Gabi was Zoa's biggest priority, but then at the end Zoa choosing to die with Bel over living with Gabi, like, damn.

They just had so many scenes, like, I don't even know where to begin giffing. And along with the m/m and trans rep, the rebels were the queerest group on the island. :P Though I was super sad to lose my cartoon boy brought to life, Ibon, would much rather have lost Orson who in his final act of character development could have sacrificed himself for the others. >_>

I definitely know what you mean about race, I remember it last season when Claudia was just sacrificed like that and Nico was treated like a selfish moron, and then this season it wasn't much better, Nico straight up dying, Saul also dying, Eva being treated as an outsider the whole time. I'm just glad she survived it all and wasn't the traitor (which, dammit, Gabi, so annoying, her and Africa were by far the biggest disappointments). And when you're considering something like this, it is a combination of screentime, complexity, rootability, agency, I didn't love that Eva was one of the only women who went totally topless, along with Som, who is Asian but one of the darker skinned characters on the show. Which, lol, that's an even more nuanced discussion, like, it shouldn't be a matter of shame or poor treatment, but in reality, it can be, and if there's an imbalance, it does stand out. None of these are dealbreakers, but for sure, I definitely was racking up these observations.

I'm curious if it gets another season. I'd be okay if it doesn't, since it could very well be read as a full rescue and resolution of the story, though I'm sure the writers have something much more convoluted planned. :o

Betrayal in One Piece

About a year ago, in some youtube comments, I brought up the likelihood that Rocks was abandoned by his crew. It has only recently became a more widely accepted theory as Tekking and GLR have made videos speaking about things like the Pirate Code and that Rocks did not have a cohesive crew and could have been abandoned by his crew during God Valley, leaving him to fight Garp and Roger alone.

Another post i made speaking about Rocks possibly being the father of Dragon (and maybe Crocodile)... and that Dragon may have been the person to tell the Marines about Rocks’ God Valley plan. It goes on a further tangent about how many of his former teammates all have some kind of value in family, and that maybe Rocks had some twisted version of the same concept. But that Rocks demanded loyalty, he did not earn it.

I bring this up in the light of the most recent chapter reveal.... Nefritari D. Lili. The ancestor of Vivi and Cobra, and the Queen of Alabasta during the end of the Void Century. And why would she have helped found the World Government, if the Clan of D was loyal to Joyboy.

Meaning... Lili may have betrayed Joyboy (or her country was being held hostage). Alabasta might have been on the same side as Joyboy, The Ancient Kingdom, Wano, Zoa, Skipia, Ohara, and Fishman Island during the start of the Void Century War. It is why Alabasta had the Poniglyph that told people were Pluton was.

Her “situation” prevented Joyboy from joining up with Poseidon and prevented them from bringing down The Red Line. Joyboy left an apology note on one of the Poniglyphs about being unable to fulfill the promise. Poseidon may have even been killed.

Lili joined the World Government at the end of the war, but refused to join the founding families in becoming Celestial Dragons. She went missing on her way home.

Basically.... Rocks and Joyboy, two people on the opposite sides of the spectrum, may have had a common flaw in their plans.... in that they both were brought down by being betrayed.

Robin and Crocodile

Crocodile establishing that he believed that:  “Pirates will eventually turn on one another.” (even feeding Mr. 3 to his Bananawani for failure)

Robin being the first to turn on him by saving Luffy, and he nearly killing her when he realized the depths of her betrayal after she lied to him about what the Poneglyph said.

The rest of Baroque Works did come to save him, even tho he did refuse that rescue. Das Bones went to Impel Down with him, and Crocodile brake him free and the two of them formed a loyalty with each other.

Robin turning herself in to Cipher Pol, turning her back on the Straw Hats, in order to protect them by sacrificing herself.

Crocodile proposing the Cross Guild alliance with Mihawk on the basis that it would be an alliance not based on trust but a business transaction. Meaning ties may be cut as soon as the alliance no longer suits either of them and they have no obligation to remain together.  

(members of Buggy’s crew, one of them the former Mr. 3 that was fed to the Bananawani, abandoning Buggy to his fate of being tortured by the two of them).

Teach, Thatch, and Ace.

Like... this was half the plot of OP. Ace getting revenge bc Blackbeard killed Thatch for the Darkness Fruit. Ace then getting captured by Blackbeard and ending up in jail.

Law, Corazon, and Doflamingo.

Law insisting that his alliance with the Straw Hats would be goal orientated, and once these goals were over, they would become enemies.

But this was whole dynamic was basically, Betrayal Hot Potato.... Cora became a Marine, and Doffy became a Pirate. Cora was spying on Doffy for the Marines, then up and turned on the Marines and Doffy by choosing to save Law’s life... Blowing his cover, and was shot by Doffy... Then Law turned on the Family, and ran away to start his own crew.

Big Mom, Lola/Chiffon, and the Discount “Red Wedding.”

The Wedding between Pudding and Sanji was meant to be a trap, a proposition of an Alliance between the Big Mom Pirates and the Germa 66. There wasn’t going to be an actual alliance, and BM wanted the Germa 66 in Toto Land so she could destroy them.

Linlin had also been through several betrayals. Her parents abandoning her on Elbaf. Mother Caramel plotting to sell her to the Marines. Streusen taking her away to become a pirate, using her vast strength to his advantage. Her ending up on Rocks crew, and how little loyalty there was between the crew and their captain. Linlin’s children lying to her out of self preservation.

Lola leaving the BM pirates to form her own crew. Which would lead her to giving Big Mom’s Viveria card to Nami (and Nami used to to control the Homies).

Chiffon and Praline siding with their husbands instead of with Big Mom and their siblings.

Wano and the Red Scabbards

Kanjuro turning on the Scabbards and Momonoske, remaining loyal to his family and acting as a spy the entire time.

The Holy Martyrs Hesperus, his wife Zoe, and their children Cyriacus and Theodulus suffered for their faith in Christ in the second century, during the persecution under Hadrian (117-138). They had been Christians since their childhood, and they also raised their children in piety. They were all slaves of an illustrious Roman named Catullus, living in Attalia, Asia Minor. While serving their earthly master, the saints never defiled themselves with food offered to idols, which pagans were obliged to use.

Once, Catullus sent Hesperus on business to Tritonia. Saints Cyriacus and Theodulus decided to run away, unable to endure constant contact with pagans. Saint Zoe, however, did not bless her sons to do this. Then they asked their mother’s blessing to confess their faith in Christ openly, and they received it.

When the brothers explained to Catullus that they were Christian, he was surprised, but he did not deliver them for torture. Instead, he sent them with their mother to Saint Hesperus at Tritonia, hoping that the parents would persuade their children to deny Christ. At Tritonia, the saints lived in tranquility for a while, preparing for martyrdom.

All the slaves returned to Attalia for the birthday of Catullus’ son, and a feast was prepared at the house in honor of the pagan goddess Fortuna. Food was sent to the slaves from the master’s table, and this included meat and wine that had been sacrificed to idols. The saints would not eat the food. Zoe poured the wine upon the ground and threw the meat to the dogs. When he learned of this, Catullus gave orders to torture Zoe’s sons, Saints Cyriacus and Theodulus.

The brothers were stripped, suspended from a tree, and raked with iron implements before the eyes of their parents, who counselled their children to persevere to the end.

Then the parents, Saints Hesperus and Zoe, were subjected to terrible tortures. Finally, they threw all four martyrs into a red-hot furnace, where they surrendered their souls to the Lord. Their bodies were preserved in the fire unharmed, and angelic singing was heard, glorifying the confessors of the Lord.

ACTS 4:13-22

13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. In a CNN television interview on July 9, 2023, President Biden criticized Israel’s duly elected government as “extreme,” (“this is one of the most extreme members of cabinets that I’ve seen”); absurdly called the right of Jews to build homes in the Jewish heartland an “extreme” position; continued his wrongheaded and insulting failure to invite Israel’s prime minister to the White House soon; and reiterated his call for a so-called “two-state solution” (creating a Palestinian Arab state on Israel’s lawful land which would be sure to be an Iranian-proxy terror state). Yet he doesn’t condemn the Palestinian regime as extreme, which it really is, nor does he condemn Arab building in Judea/Samaria.

In fact, it is Biden’s statements that are both extreme and antisemitic.

It is extreme and antisemitic to say that Jews cannot build their homes anywhere in the world – especially in the Jewish homeland.

It is extreme and antisemitic to condemn an Israeli government that is trying to protect its citizens from daily Palestinian Arab terror attacks.

It is extreme to condemn an Israeli government that is trying to enact much needed, democratic reforms to Israel’s despotic, self-appointed Supreme Court, which ignores duly-passed laws in order to promote a left wing agenda, and whose lawless decisions have even cost innocent Israeli lives. Just this week, an Israeli Supreme Court encouraged illegal migrants to remain in Israel.

It is extreme to call for creating a Palestinian Arab terror state on Israel’s land, especially when the Israeli government and the majority of Israelis oppose this.

Interestingly, Biden also commented that he goes all the way back to Golda Meir (Israeli Prime Minister from 1969 to 1974), and that Golda Meir was “not extreme.” Notably, Meir opposed a Palestinian Arab state; opposed an Israeli retreat to the pre-1967 (1948 ceasefire) lines; and believed that Jews must not be prevented from rebuilding their homes in the Jewish homeland. Those are the same positions that Biden now wrongly labels as “extreme.”

In her autobiography, PM Meir stated regarding Jews who resettled the millennia-old Jewish city of Hebron, after Israel recovered Hebron from Jordan’s 19-year illegal occupation: “Was it logical, I asked myself and my colleagues, for the world (including our superpious doves) to demand of a Jewish government that it pass legislation expressly forbidding Jews to settle anywhere on earth? . . . Obviously no Israeli government could ever obligate itself to a permanent banning of Jews from any part of the Holy Land.” (My Life, by Golda Meir, p. 405)

Meir also wrote that UN Security Council Resolution 242 “does not say that Israel must withdraw from all territories; nor does it say that Israel must withdraw from the territories; but it does say that every state [e.g., Israel and Jordan] in the area has a right to live in peace within “secure and recognized boundaries” and it does specify the termination of the belligerency. Furthermore, it does not speak of a Palestinian state.” (Id., p. 372.)

During the CNN broadcast, Biden also absurdly blamed terrorism on the Palestinian Authority’s supposed “weakness” instead of acknowledging the truth that the Palestinian Authority is inciting and participating in the violence, and paying Arab terrorists to murder Jews and Americans. For instance, 5 of the 12 terrorists killed during the recent firefight in Jenin were affiliated with Fatah, the governing party of the Palestinian Authority. So, just curious but, if you take away plot rules and stuff, realistically speaking, then how easily could Ultra’s destroy monsters then?

It sort of depends which tier of Ultras you're talking about

Lower tiered New Gen like Rosso, Blu and Grigio would obviously have the toughest time and probably have the most realistic fights for their level as seen from their series

Mid level New Gen (which I also classify most of the Heisei Ultras in this category) could easily one shot a standard kaiju (like Gomora) with a single finisher

Stronger ones like Ginga (maybe Victory?), Orb and Zero would easily clear swathes of kaiju on the same level as Gomora, basically like what we saw in the first Zero Movie

Next, fusion level Ultras would most likely see an exponential increase in power level

And this scaling also increases exponentially the more components are fused together

And after an unknown (but HUGE) power gap, next are the Ultra Brother level ultras

(Minus obviously higher tiered fusions like Super Taro, Mebius Infinity and Reiga)

On this level, I won't even say kaijus, but these ultras can even clear multiple New Gen Level Ultras and even fusions with not even their finisher, but a mere ranged attack

We see this clearly demonstrated with Toregia literally one shotting Ruebe, UF, and Grigio Regina with a single attack, literally completely dispersing the Tri Squad with a standard ranged attack, literally not even hesitating to challenge the entire New Gen (up till Taiga), whom were all in their final and fused forms back then (which includes Gruebe and GV)

Taro was also able to do this easily as demonstrated when he was under the control of Grimude, without holding back as much now, his energy sparks from his horns were able to completely one shot and disperse Rosso and Blu (at max health) and also he basically steamrolled over Dark Lugiel, whom was stronger than Ginga (strongest New Gen). And only after Taro gave Ginga his energy that he was able to win as well.

(And side note, it's reasonable to say that the known Absolutians are at the bare minimum on this level individually)

And after another unknown and likely even BIGGER power gap, comes Ultras like Ken and Belial

And we've seen that Belial can literally steamroll multiple Ultra Brother level Ultras in the first Zero movie already

(Also personally I really don't think Zero is stronger than Belial as he never really defeated him ever without some form of help either from the Plasma Spark, Noa enhancing the first use of Ultimate Aegis, King etc, think I posted about it in more details before)

Then likely comes the high level fusion ultras as mentioned before

Then finally the legendary ultras

An easier way to visualize just how large each power gap is their age which iirc I posted a calculation and concluded that Ultras (at least M78 Red Ultras) stronger stronger as they age

So we have Mebius etc being less than 10 000 years old with the Ultra Brothers being at about 15 000 (not taking into account gifted anomalies like Taro of course). So juxtapose this age gap and their gap in power level

Then Ken and Belial are literally 160 000 years old rn

King is 300 000 with Noa being 350 000

That's how large the power gap is between each established tier

So yeah, realistically speaking, they're so powerful compared to the standard episodic kaiju that it's not even funny. Sometimes it's rather plain silly to watch say Ginga literally defeating Dark Zagi in one episode, to somehow having a tough time with a random Zoa Muruchi in the next season

University of Pennsylvania Must Stop All Its Sponsorship Of, and Stop the Use of Its Facilities and Its Logo, to Host The “Palestine Writes” Event, for the Following Reasons:

University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) receives federal funds, and is therefore required to provide a harassment-free learning environment for its Jewish students under Title VI of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The “Palestine Writes” festival incites harassment and attacks on Jewish and pro-Israel students. Holding “Palestine Writes” is therefore a civil rights violation that may result in UPenn losing its federal funding.

The university cannot guarantee protection of Jewish students in an environment influenced by the unabashed antisemitic operatives speaking at this event, including:

a convicted Palestinian-Arab terrorist;

many speakers who support designated terrorist groups, including Hamas, Palestine Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Turkish terror group IHH, the Fatah/PLO Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades;

many speakers who support and have assisted convicted terrorists;

many speakers who incite and call for Intifadas (terror wars against Jews, in which thousands of Jews have been murdered and maimed); and

notorious antisemites, such as Roger Waters, who uses Nazi imagery to malign Jews.

Removing this event from U. Penn would not inhibit free speech. “Free speech” does not require the university to host or support hate speech, or speech that it disagrees with. The university has the right to decide who to sponsor and who uses its facilities to speak.

UPenn has already set the precedent of punishing speech that it disagrees with, contradicting its claim that it is unable to exercise any authority over the “Palestine Writes” event. Another event also makes clear that Penn is selective about which “free speech” it protects. For example, UPenn has taken, or tried to take, actions against Professor Amy Wax, M.D., JD due to her controversial statements about Black law students’ achievement. The university took a class away from her, tried to sanction and fire her despite her tenure, and harassed her. We are not saying that we agree with Wax’s views but the University never defended Amy Wax’s controversial statements under their freedom of speech thesis. UPenn is therefore obligated to take action against the “Palestine Writes” hate-fest, or else must admit to endorsing antisemitism and accept the consequences, in accordance with U.S. law.

The university is failing to take responsibility for its own department(s) that are co-sponsoring “Palestine Writes.” UPenn gives funds to these departments, which in turn are co-sponsoring and providing resources to “Palestine Writes.”

Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP)’s UPenn and Temple U branches are co-sponsors of “Palestine Writes”, and many speakers are involved with SJP. As ZOA explained in its open letter to UPenn leaders: SJP activists systemically intimidate, harass and have even physically assaulted Jewish and pro-Israel students. SJP aggressively disrupts pro-Israel events – and screams for Israel’s destruction and “Intifada! Intifada!” (The murder of Jews). Hosting any event with SJP is antithetical to allowing free speech, and the university would be well within its rights to not allow the event. In fact, Fordham University successfully denied SJP official club status on its campus, and won the ensuing litigation for this very reason. The New York State Appellate Division opined that Fordham University’s decision to deny official club status to SJP was appropriate because “the proposed [Fordham SJP] club, which would have been affiliated with a national organization [SJP] reported to have engaged in disruptive and coercive actions on other campuses, would work against, rather than enhance, respondent’s commitment to open dialogue and mutual learning and understanding. . .” (Awad, et al v. Fordham Univ., N.Y. App. Div. 1st Dept., Dec. 20, 2022.)

“Palestine Writes” is not actually about promoting arts. The content that is being celebrated and called “art” (films, children’s games, poems, etc.) consists of numerous speeches by Jew-haters, and is all being used for the purpose of promoting hatred against Israel and Jews, and annihilating Israel and replacing Israel with “Palestine.” (See details in ZOA’s open letter about the “Palestine Writes” program and speakers confirming this.) The Palestinian Authority pays terrorists to murder Jews; and Hamas’ charter calls for the murder of every Jew. These are the entities that “Palestine Writes” wants to replace Israel with.

Holding “Palestine Writes” at UPenn sets a dangerous precedent that will inspire more Jew-hatred and attacks on Jews around the country.

UPenn will have a dramatic drop in donations. Many donors are vowing to not give UPenn another penny ever, due to this hate-fest, and the value of this prestigious Ivy League university will plummet.

@hesperio sent: A rare gift indeed! An egg in a box, packed carefully with a bundle of apples as well. The egg wobbles with anticipation, and a little bit more walking shows the first cracks in it. When it opens, the little dragon looks nothing like the typical Applin. The little green worm blinks one eye and then the other before squeaking and burrowing into the nearest apple. You received: an Applin!

Zoa isn't sure what to expect when she opens up the box. She had opened it in privacy, in her Zorua form, with Fomantis and Charcadet sitting beside her. An egg? The gift is a surprise- even if she had barely passed by the teacher in the halls with her spare visits, this box had found her way into her hands anyway.

Guess she made more of an impression than she believed? That or he really did need these off of his hands.

Then the egg cracked, and opened. The little worm blinked up at them, one eye than another, then buried into one of the apples in the box. Zoa scampered over to her bag, pulling out one of the pokeballs she had bought, then offered it to the Applin.

Charcadet is the first one to speak. "[We're your family now! Oh, this is exciting- I've never seen an applin without the apple!]"

Zoa watches as the Applin continues to stare, then roughly push against the box to bonk against the ball. Zoa almost drops the ball when it shakes in her mouth, but it clicks.

"[We're a group of four now,]" Fomantis says, nodding. "[I hope you know not to touch without the gloves, Charcadet.]"

... This could be an interesting task, raising a Pokemon where all parties involved were Pokemon. Oh, and one of them was also a part time trainer, that was an important part.
