i'm a fan of almost all of the heirloom chest pieces, they're so versatile... and i can't stop using the moonward boots for every aiming glam :'D i really like the shorts + leggings look so i'm glad we got a free option for this year's valentine's event, especially since the other leg pieces are either class-locked (the yorha-55 ones) or cash shop only (far eastern maiden's bottoms)

Gong Yuanzhi and Gong Shangjue are soooo weird and emotionally codependent. I'm not done with the drama, but I feel like together they make one whole person and individually...not so much. Yuanzhi is the id -- all impulse and immediate need -- and Shangjue is the superego -- all control and standards.
I mean, the way they talk with Yuanzhi constantly saying what Shangjue is thinking but can't or won't say and Shangjue either tacitly encouraging his didi's bad behavior or reining him (often by humiliating him, which is a whole other can of worms my god). Shangjue has done his best to strip his life of all personal preferences, but he indulges Yuanzhi's desires to the point of breaking social norms and spoiling him (it appears to be standard that he makes and pours tea for his didi! Let's him eat first and whatever is best?! smirks when Yuanzi is a rude loud mouth for no reason? hello?!). And think of the way they are filmed. Their often blocked one right in front of the other and the camera will slide in and out of focus between them. What am I supposed to make of that?!

The Language of Tea, Unspoken Words, and Their True Meanings
This brief scene in My Journey to You EP 22 is so beautifully framed and everything about it is so good ... the feels ... omg it's almost too much. The entire scene is only about two minutes long but like it's overflowing with brotherly love. ❤️
Tumblr media
The scene starts with Gong Yuan Zhi (GYZ) presumably at his residence just minding his own business, cleaning his deadly little weapons, and looking the most chill he's ever looked since EP 1. Like you never see him this calm and still. Like EVER!
Then ...
Tumblr media
Enters Gong Zi Yu (GZY). The man just waltzes into GYZ's private sphere. And GYZ didn't protest. He didn't make a fuss. He didn't hurl insults. He didn't tell GZY to get lost or go away. He didn't didn't even look up. Just kept his focus on cleaning his little weapon.
This is like not what you'd expect after 22 episodes of conflict between these two cousins/brothers. In this private sphere, there is no pressure to perform. No one is here to observe their interactions. So. It would be the perfect place to reveal one true self. But family is a complex institution and things are not what they seem which also makes perfect sense.
GZY picks up the teacup and drinks from it ... unprompted and uninvited. Although to be fair, GYZ didn't tell GZY that he couldn't drink the tea. In traditional Chinese culture, tea is kept warm and comes with bajillion meanings.
Tumblr media
One: Power, Status, and Serving Tea
Serving tea comes with its own set of rules. Generally speaking younger and lower social status people serve the tea. This is a sign of respect. So for GZY to simply pick up the teacup without asking GYZ who is younger and has a lower status meant that GZY considers the two of them to be peers. Like he doesn't expect his brother/cousin to serve him tea just because he holds a higher position within the family. And that little smirk ... like he knew his little brother was demure for reasons.
Two: Cold Tea is Reserved for Enemies.
GZY then commented that the tea was cold. This was done with a touch of sarcasm and a bit of humor but it's packed with hidden meanings. There is a saying that cold tea is reserved for one's enemies and that when the tea has gone cold, it's time for people to depart/move on. Personally, this could also mean people drifting apart from one another. Here GZY is joking that GYZ is serving him cold tea (being enemies) on purpose. It's a lighthearted comment because GYZ never offered the tea to begin with. This is also the first time GYZ address GZY by his title. Another sign of respect given in the private sphere where no one is watching them.
Tumblr media
Three: You Might be in Danger [aka Your Life is Important to Me]
GZY then proceeds to warn his cousin/brother about a potential security threat ... that GYZ's secret weapons may have been compromised. Basically saying that the weapons and the poisons may no longer be effective. GZY is explaining all this calmly and without blaming GYZ for anything. He could have said hey BRO ... your little poisoned weapon might not protect you anymore ... so yeah you might wanna take a look into changing it. But, that's NOT what GZY did. The warning was done with great care. Like genuine care.
Tumblr media
Then GZY gifts his little cousin/brother with a brand new weapon crafted by their official blacksmith. I mean GZY is so very worried here that a simple warning is not enough. No. His little cousin/brother needs to be able to protect himself and so he needs a new secret weapon. GZY tells his little cousin/brother that he has complete control over the weapons/poisons he wishes to use and that there is no need to inform him of it. This is an sign of complete trust that his little cousin/brother won't harm family members and that when the time comes, GYZ would help protect the clan. GZY could have demanded to know the details but he chose trust instead. GYZ was not expecting this blind faith from his older cousin/brother.
Just look at GYZ's face. He was definitely not expecting this level of care. Sure. They're both from the same clan but this level of attention just SCREAMS brotherly love. It's all familial love.
GYZ lost his immediate family when he was very young and he always thought that the only one who genuinely cares for him is his adopted brother. But even with the special bond with Gong Shang Jues (GSJ) GYZ never felt he was loved for who he was. Always thinking that he could never be the brother that GSJ lost and so he's filled with self-doubt and uncertainty. But here, you can totally see that he finally realizes that GZY also cares for him ... the way an older brother might look out for a younger brother [cries ... so much feels right now!!!]
Tumblr media
Four: It's No Big Deal. DO NOT Make This into a Big Deal
Unprompted GYZ got up to make tea. I cannot get used this demure little killing machine. GZY understands this gesture and so he said nonchalantly that there was no need to thank him. Like this is no big deal bro! I said it's no big deal. I repeat ... do not make our little interaction into a big deal because little cousin/brother ... it is not.
Action speaks louder than words and that is what we see here. GZY, as an older cousin/brother is just doing what he believes older brothers do. Like this is no grand gesture. Like what else was he supposed to do ... watch his little brother's life dangling in the danger zone? Yeah no thank you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Five: Serving Tea as an Apology
GYZ brew a new cup of hot tea with the intention of serving it to GZY. The act of serving tea is a sign of respect from the junior member. One can also serve tea to elders and people with higher social status as a form of apology. GYZ brew a new cup of tea with this intention in mind.
By this point GYZ realized that he was wrong about GZY. Their conflicts stem mostly from the belief that GZY would be a terrible leader for their clan since he lacks motivation, drive, skill, and a bunch of others demerits. However, all of it proved to be a personal bias/misunderstanding on GYZ's part. So now that everything has been cleared up and GYZ is basically giving his cousin/brother the respect that is due.
GZY exited out before receiving the tea from GYZ is also a tell in their relationship. GZY is saying, without saying a word, that he's not here to gloat or lord over GYZ. That he understands why the misunderstanding took place. I mean GZY was not exactly shinny leadership material for most of his life and his daily behaviors prior to the leadership change never actually inspire confidence in the clan protection department.
Siblings will fight. Siblings will squabble. Siblings will have misunderstandings. These are just normal things that siblings do. and so GZY didn't need that tea from GYZ. There was no hard feelings despite their numerous spats. That they were doing what brothers do because they're family.
The fact that GYZ matures enough to want to apologize with tea is also another character development.
And the love ... both fraternal love and familial love. There's so much of it in this two minutes scene and my heart ... so much feels ... feels tidal waves everywhere.

Remaking my very first Genshin OC !! she was made wayyy back in early jun of 2021 and i still love her dearly, it's why i wanted to remade and give her an upgraded design !!
Her current (and still brainstorming) story is that shes a liyuen orphan later adopted by an inazuman years before the vision degree, her caretaker died of old age a few months before the vision degree begin and she fought tooth and nail to not get both her and her caretaker's static vision taken away so she sneak onto beidou's ship and just set sail straight to liyue, stayed with her until the traveler came by SJDJSJDJDJ

Adventures of Zhuo Yichen in Gong family, part 2
(Continuation of this)
Gong Ziyu almost choked on air when he saw a white figure jumping up and down under the only fruit tree in Jue palace's courtyard. This addition was few years old, none of them able to understand why a man like Gong Shangjue who thought of such things as frivolity would plant a tree like that in his courtyard. The small figure continued their attempts at swiping the fruit from the tree, with varying success. Dressed in pale cream and white robes with cream colored fur cloak and a gleaming gold headband, the slim figure looked like a fairy that had deigned to bless the mere peasents like them with its presence.
Curious, Gong Ziyu sneaked closer, because how was it possible Gong Shangjue, who was a notorious stickler for rules, to allow anyone inside the palace? It couldn't even be a servent, with that gleaming gold headband that although looked thin, was expensive for any servent.
Upon closer look, Gong Ziyu really choked on air when he realized that the figure he called ethreal in his heart (ok who was he kidding? He really thought that brat was pretty for a moment) was Gong Yuanzhi.
Feeling mischievous, he snuck up to his brat of a cousin and called his name, delighting in the way the smaller figure let out a shriek and then outright cackling when Gong Yuanzhi ran behind the tree and hugged the trunk, peeking out from the side to look at him.
Gong Ziyu couldn't help but admit that the little brat really looked cute. Only in his heart though because if Yuanzhi could read his thoughts, he would have already taken his head off.
"And what are you doing here instead of the clinic?" He leaned forward, leering at him, having way too much fun.
Yuanzhi stammered out. "I was... I wanted that fruit..."
Gong Ziyu easily jumped up and snagged a plum one, waving it in the air mockingly. "Oh this? But I thought you could already reach the branches by now? Are you still a pip squeak?"
"You-!" Gong Yuanzhi indignantly shouted, his red cheeks puffing up, coming at him. Gong Ziyu jumped back, a smarmy grin appearing on his face. "Ah ah ah! I am older than you, call me gege!"
To his surprise, the brat deflated, looking down at his feet. "... gege."
Gong Ziyu's eyes widened at the low sound. He couldn't believe his ears! The brat who always insulted him and never let a chance to disrepect his entire family was calling him gege! And so adorably too! Maybe the brat was sick, his brain addled with some poison or something.
Perhaps it was the all that wine that he consumed, or maybe the idea that today he could mess with his normally thorny, poisonous hedgehog like cousin was too tempting to let go that he siddled closer. He teased him, enjoying the way his cheeks reddened from embarrassment. He swiped more fruit, finally sharing it with Yuanzhi, and regaling him with embellished tales of his adventures outside the residence that was too tempting to ignore for a child who had never seen the outside world, taking delight in the way Yuanzhi's eyes narrowed and widened like a kitten, letting out oohs and awwhs at the appropriate places.
As he was convincing his younger cousin to go with him outside without informing Gong Shangjue, both of them were caught unawares as a heavy black cloak landed on Yuanzhi's head, who let out an oomf, staggering under the weight of heavy fabric. Before he could even right the fabric, their assailants were on them.
"Didi," Gong Shangjue's voice freeze them both. "Did I not tell you to stay inside?"
Gong Yuanzhi immediately turned, facing his brother. "And I didn't! I stayed in the courtyard, he was the one to come here. I only wanted some fruits! And I met no one else, promise!"
Their older cousin raised an eyebrow, looking pointedly at Gong Ziyu.
"But I thought he was family, not a stranger! Isn't it safe with him? He was talking about some pavilion outside and jiejies there-"
"Jin Fu." Gong Shangjue's voice was so cold that Gong Ziyu shuddered with fright. That's it. This was the end. The man was going to murder him for mentioning the brothel to his didi. Thank you everyone for all the support they gave to him, because today that would end as no one will be able to find his body.
The Jade Guard only nodded and darted forward, easily picking up their youngest cousin like a sack of potatoes who let out a squeak, protesting his treatment. Gong Ziyu only heard a single sentence from the jade guard in answer "And how will we answer your gege if something happened to you outside?"
It was weird thing to say, considering the gege in question was the one to catch them, but he was too worried about his life to care about the mystery. He was frozen like a dear, trapped under the dark gaze of his oldest cousin. Finally, Gong Shangjuebstepped closer, making him wilt even before he opened his mouth.
"I do not care what you get upto on your own, Gong Ziyu, but do not drag Gong Yuanzhi in your antics. Understood?"
"Crystal" he squeaked out, almost breaking out in a run when his older cousin waved his hand dismissively. He finally stopped at some distance, hands braced on his knees, panting. He threw a last look at the Jue residence, catching sight of a pouting Yuanzhi being handed fruit from his gege who was firmly shuffling him inside, not letting him even peek back. His gaze me the Gong Shanjue again, and this time, he bolted, vowing to not even stray close to the brat lest his brother dug out his entrails and hung him from them.
Why had Gong Shangjue forbidden their youngest cousin from meating others? Why was he behaving as if Gong Yuanzhi was a pure maiden though, hiding him from everyone's gaze?
Alas, he loved his entrails inside his body too much to investigate this mystery.

i tend to go for sleeker silhouettes when choosing gear for glams but i realized at some point that going for a more armor-y look to pair with the darbar top might be better and i ended up really like the look... the princely white + blue color combo fits pld really well and is the most colorful of my glams :D
