1. I have a multi chapter 911 buddie fic all planned out and the first scene already written
2. I have the basic premise of a mafia Word of Honor fic saved somewhere on my phone
3. I have a Guardian AU very loosely planned and a general idea for the first chapter or two
And I very badly want to write something and yet I can't make myself start to write any of these
Do I want to write something without having to plan it? Then I should write 1
Do I want to write something while also finishing up planning the big points of it? I should write 2
Do I want to write something and just see where it takes me? Then I can write 3
But nope. Instead I'm going to write nothing. Makes sense

Them ™️
A man might have many encounters throughout his life, but there’s only one person who truly belongs to him and fits him. If he can’t find one, he would just muddle along with his life. It doesn’t matter who he stays with. He would be happy too. But if you really find that one person… It’s like a sword and its original scabbard.

[a]Meng Kang says: “Liu留 was Zheng's Town鄭邑. Later it was annexed by Chen, and for that reason it is called Chenliu陳留.”
Your Subject Zan says: “Song likewise had a Liu留, the Liu留 in Pengcheng彭城. Liu留 belonged to Chen, and for that reason it was declared Chenliu陳留.”
Shigu says: “Zan's explanation is correct. 渦 is pronounced ge戈.
[b]Meng Kang says: “Formerly the Earl of Ge's State葛伯國, presently Ge District葛鄉.”
[c]Ying Shao says: “The Transmittals of Spring and Autumn says: “The host was at Xiangniu襄牛.” is this.
Shigu says: “Juan Cheng states that Xiangyi襄邑 was in the lands of Song. Originally it was Chengkuang's承匡 Xiangling District襄陵鄉. It is where Duke Xiang of Song was buried, and for that reason it was called Xiangling襄陵 [“Xiang's Mound”]. The First August of Qin considered Chengkuang承匡 low-lying and humid, and for that reason moved the county to Xiangling襄陵, speaking of it as Xiangyi襄邑 [“Xiang Town”]. 30 li west of the county is Chengkuang City承匡城. As such when Ying Shao explains it as being Xiangniu襄牛, he is mistaken.”
[d]Zhang Yan says: “Wei commandery魏郡 has Neihuang內黃 [“Inner Huang”], for that reason they added wai外[“Outer”].
Your Subject Zan says: “The county has Huang Ditch黃溝, for that reason they mister it[?].
Shigu says: “The Transmittals of Mister Zuo states: “Duke Hui defeated the Song host at Huang黃.” Du Yu considers that since east of Waihuang外黃縣 county, there is a Huang City黃城, it is precisely this land.”
[e]Meng Kang says: “The Transmittals of Spring and Autumn's “Defeated the Di at Changqiu長丘 is the present Di Ditch翟溝.”
[f]Ying Shao says: “Anciently, the prison officials were the Wei尉 clan [shi氏], Zheng's detached prison.”
Your Subject Zan says: “The town of Zheng's Grandee, Mister Wei's尉氏, for that reason they thereupon used it for the town.”
Shigu says: “Zheng's Grandee Mister Wei also was the official in charge of prisons, and for that reason it became the family name and that is all. Ying's explanation is correct.”
[g]Ying Shao says: “The Earl of Zheng vanquished Duan at Yan鄢.”
Shigu says: “ 鄢 is pronounced yan偃.”
[h]Meng Kang says: “The Spring and Autumn [era's] assembly at Kuang匡 was at present Kuang City匡城.”
[i]Ying Shao says: “King Hui of Wei moved from Anyi to here, and titled it as Liang梁.”
Shigu says: “Qulü 取慮 is the name of a county, it is pronounced qiulu秋廬. 取 is also pronounced qu趨.”

i think the reason why word of honor compels me more than mdzs is bc the two mains are ambiguous (to an extent), ever-changing and dynamic; as in, zhou zishu is basically a retired spymaster-murderer and he goes around teaching his kid and helping people on the fly and then there’s wen kexing who is kind of cursed and does batshit stuff and who also reads bedtime stories to his kid and fucks around with zhou zishi at every chance he gets. in mdzs wei wuxian and lanzhan are kind of.....good? like, really good? like, that isn’t in any doubt in the current timeline (in his current incarnation), even with wei wuxian’s past descent in the dark arts. lanzhan has been a moral stick in the mud since his inception. but unlike the moral stasis that that gets cemented into mdzs’s plotline, the storyline with wkx and zzs is just always in flux; both characters come from a morally decrepit and at best, ambiguous, background, with both having done terrible, terrible things, and here they are butting heads over who gets to die and who doesn’t and why they should try to keep living in a hostile and greedy world all while trying to be better than they are. in some ways word of honor doesn’t necessarily try to hammer in the “evil so evil this man is badddd so so bad” because the show is constantly humanizing wen kexing as it demonizes him, constantly putting zhou zhishu in his way and beside him, always having them forgive each other and be good and kind to each other, etc etc. the moral messaging in word of honor is v nuanced this way. this enduring struggle to do right by somebody is very compelling and far more interesting, personally
#personally! personally. i just like the struggle of doing good#yknow? since doing good is done consciously with intention. and word of honor really gets at that!#word of honor#wen kexing#zhou zishu#wenzhou#mdzs

Okay, to start with, I'm not saying that Wen Kexing's decision to save Zhou Zishu's life (seemingly with the intent to sacrifice his own) wasn't an emotional based decision. He loved him and didn't want to live in a world where Zhou Zishu was dead.
But he was also a tactican (a melodramatic one, but still) and he probably also thought his decision was a logical one. He had just lost essentially his whole family and everyone he knew during the seige on Ghost Valley. Despite how terrible that place was, it was where he was raised. Everyone he knew was there. The only people left were Chengling and Zhou Zishu. And Chengling was Zhou Zishu's disciple, not his. (Ignore that Chengling is basically their son, because again Wen Kexing is shown to be an emotional mess with self esteem issues.)
But Zhou Zishu has people left who will miss him, no matter how little Zhou Zishu seemed to care about that at the beginning. He has friends, like Jing Beiyuan and Wu Xi, and he has the disciples Han Ying entrusted to Zhou Zishu. Wen Kexing might even just assume he has more friends that he just hasn't met yet. And maybe most importantly, Zhou Zishu also had a dream again of reviving the Four Seasons Manor.
Wen Kexing, on the other hand, had Zhou Zishi and that's it. He knew the people that Zhou Zishi knew, but they weren't his friends. He had Chengling, but the boy needed his master more than he needed Wen Kexing. He had Ye Baiyi, sort of, but the old monster had always shown a preference to Zhou Zishu. Everyone else was dead. And with Zhou Zishu dead, so where any dreams he had.
So to Wen Kexing, as selfish as the decision to sacrifice himself was, he probably also thought it was the most logical decision too.
Basically, all of this is to say that Wen Kexing needs some friends and a lot of hugs.
#just me rambling about how emotional this show makes me#both of them are enotional messes#and they make me a mess every time i watch it#wen kexing#zhou zishu#wenzhou#shl#word of honor
