if you're french or understand french and you like GTA V you really really need to watch GTA RPZ from the 2021 Zevent this shit is absolute comedy gold and honestly a very fascinating phenomenon to analyze in the greater context of video games / social studies.

YES OMG let me explain !!!!
there's a stream marathon called ZEvent, where many french streamers play for 50+ hours to gather donations for charity. last year they raised 10 million euros for environmental organisations, there's hundreds of thousands of people watching over the long weekend
in 2021, during the final rush, someone with the username "bravo les lesbiennes" donated in a bunch of streams. it's customary to include the username when you thank someone, so you could hear a lot of streamers saying "merci pour le don, bravo les lesbiennes !"
thus a very wide audience was made aware of this french lesbian meme and it stuck ! people started saying it whenever you can attribute something cool to women or when people make donations, and it's become a common graffiti
so yeah ! bravo les lesbiennes 💞
"shout out to lesbians" is apparently a meme between the french streamers? for some reason? this is a thing where their chats will just fill with lesbian flags saying bravo les lesbians.

ZEvent: the success story of a french charity event that the media didn't take seriously at first
Those who follow me know that the ZEvent is happening this week-end (because I've been posting non-stop about it). But to help everyone understand what this is and how insane it actually is, here's the story of the biggest charity event of Twitch!
It starts in 2016, with the "Projet Avengers" by the belgian streamer Athene. It's an emergency charity event organized each time a catastrophy happens (one that hasn't enough attention from media etc). In France, the streamer ZeratoR joins the event with 15 other french streamers by doing a 3 days livestream... in ZeratoR's living room. They gathered 170 770€.
Inspired by that, ZeratoR and his associate Dach created their own charity event, the ZEvent. In 2017 they rented a house, put all their equipement in the basement and livestreamed at 30 streamers for 3 days for La Croix-Rouge. They did it through power shortage, internet shortage,... and the media which mostly didn't give much attention to it. I mean, it was the first year so it's normal media were not gonna rush to them without knowing what they were doing. And back then, "the gamers" were even more misunderstood than now: "you're telling me that people watch them play video games and gives them money? It's not a real job" and "Look at those people in their 30s with no job playing video games in a basement" Depiste it all, they collected more than 500k€.
In 2018 they organized it again, this time for Médecins Sans Frontières with 38 streamers and they rented a huge room. They also tried reaching for the media and the majority answered with "Meh, we kinda talked about it last year, so it's not really interesting". Which is a bit absurd, like "Oh yeah, you're collecting money for a charity? Yeah, I don't think you need exposure to make that work. Good luck!" But suddenly, everything was going crazy and people realized that they were gonna break the 1M barrier. The journalists who had refused to cover the event suddenly decided it could be nice to be a part of this. They were kindly told that this is not how this works, as there was quite a lot of planning to do before letting journalists enter the building. They ended with 1 094 731€, many tears and the feeling they proved "gamer" was not a synonym for "lazy-ass".
In 2019 the ZEvent was now very famous in the charity world, so they received more than 400 requests from charities. Finally, they chose l'Institut Pasteur and they reunited 55 streamers. Journalists were all covering the event and along with it, the tone changed. They were actually trying to understand the streaming world, they were encouraging people to go donate too and they were giving amazing coverage of the event. To everybody's surprise, they gathered 3 509 878€, more than the triple of the previous year with the same amount of time.
2020 was the year of every problems. First with the Covid, everybody feared it wouldn't be possible to do it. They finally ended renting a whole hotel, asked everybody to do a covid test and then the streamers couldn't leave the building during the whole event and no one else could enter. But a few days before the event, a bunch of streamers had the covid or had family member who caught it. The organizers decided to do an hybrid version of the event: the streamers who couldn't come participated online, from their home. Then, the charity chosen created a few polemics, as Amnesty International didn't convince everybody. Some were saying they were too political, some that they were helping terrorists, etc. But ZEvent held its ground. In the background, there were rumors 2020 would be the year the event would finally flop. The 54 streamers didn't waver, kept the hard work, even organized a game with the real host of a famous french TV game. And 55 hours later, they had reached 5 724 377€, breaking every possible record, surprising the charity, the journalists, the fans and the whole ZEvent crew themselves.
"If the ZEvent survived a year like 2020 with such brilliant results, I'm pretty sure nothing will ever be able to stop it" —ZeratoR
The legend of the ZEvent is still going strong and the year 2021 is already full of promises. Once again, fear the French for we are determined.

OK I CAN EXPLAIN
Short version : So Baghera here didn’t actually direct a movie, but she did release a video in a movie theater
Long version : So there’s this charity event called ZEvent, organized by a big French streamer (Zerator), which happens (happened ?) every year and gathers streamers for a weekend so they can try and gather money for a different charity every year
And for the 2020 edition, one of Zerator’s donation goals was creating and managing a GTA roleplay server for friends and streamers over the course of two weeks
Said donation goal was reached and thus was born RPZ, lasting from the 21st of April to the 5th of May 2021, with ~90 players and a huge fanbase
Now you may be wondering what Baghera’s "movie" has to do with that
The answer is Baghera played a character named Antoine Croute, along with her friend HortyUnderscore who played his cousin, Daniel Croute, and the two of them quickly became two of the most popular character in the entire server (along with Donatien de Montazac, the character played by Antoine Daniel, who’s also joining the QSMP !!)
And so they played for two weeks and it was fantastic, and then their editors started making best-ofs for the Croute cousins
Except for the last episode, they decided to go big
And so, a year ago today (!!), she and Horty organised a big event at the Parisian movie theater MK2 Bibliothèque, where they released the last episode of the Croute cousins’ best-of live, in an actual movie theater, with an actual audience and all !!
And that’s what "Les Croute : Épisode final" ("The Croutes : Final episode") is <3
If you’re interested in discovering RPZ, I don’t think the Croute best-ofs have English subtitles, but Donatien de Montazac’s do, so I’m linking them here :)
(Also the RPZ fanbase is still active and very very happy about what’s happening with the QSMP <3)
Wait wait wait
So I googled The new members of the Qsmp and Google says Baghera Jones is a Film Director?!!!
Tumblr media
Can Baghera watchers tell us more about this, please?
I think I'll try watching her movie, although I don't understand much french🫠

Zevent 2021 update:
Tumblr media
Translated transcript/description: (and more info in color text)
The Zevent 2021 logo (with the Action Against Hunger logo at the bottom right) at the top
The 2021 edition summarized in a few figures...
51 streamers united for the cause / 3 hours of live concert / 56 hours of live streaming –the concert was new to the event–
1.030.209 viewers peak audience simultaneously (recorded at 21:43 on October 31, 2021) –record done by all the streamers not by only one–
French Twitch viewers record on ZeratoR's stream: 707.071 viewers (at 23:45 on October 31, 2021) –beats the previous record made by Inoxtag (another streamer) during the event 🙃 a couple of hours before–
270.108 viewers on average / 21.414.120 hours viewed –that represents 24 centuries to watch–
172.406 t-shirts sold / 14,45 € is the average amount of donations –I don't know the exact number of previous years but this year, there were more t-shirts than last year / this year also had big donators, Riot, OSC2 (?) and one of the absent this year, Squeezie with 40.000 €–
500.931 donations in total / 241.765 donations that are strictly inferior of 5 € –each year, there's this thing when people with small amount of money raid with ± 1 € at different times if they want, for example, people saved 10 € for Zevent but want to donate for 10 different nest eggs (not sure about that translation) thanks to the donation goals so people will donate each 1 €–
Final collected amount: 10.064.480 €, being 170.584 € per hour –that amount is (nearly) equal to the first edition which was called that time Project Avengers and was for Save The Children, the amount was about 170 770 € in 2016 | that means this year we nearly made the first one each hour of Zevent (show and streams mixed)–
The Twitch logo –they sponsored the event–
*Datas were collected from October 28, 2021 at 21:00 to November 1, 2021 at 00:59
Tumblr media
A souvenir post-zevent posted on Twitter by ZeratoR where we can see the two rows of tables where streamers had put their set-ups, now with only dishes and water bottles; at the center, between the two rows of tables, the floor is strewn with confetti. At the center of the photo, there's fake photos of the two organizers of Zevent, ZeratoR (Adrien Nougaret) and Dach (Alexandre Dachary) doing some poses and there's also the legendary megaphone at Dach's feet.
I say "legendary megaphone" because, at each Zevent when X k € was reached, ZeratoR would pull out and scream the amount in the room and when million step were reached, he would trigger some siren 🚨
Can't wait for Zevent 2022 to break records again
