my family's dog (affectionately referred to as The Freak™) has trained himself to go to the bathroom anytime someone in the family (and it feels like especially me for some reason) uses a specific bathroom that's close to the doggie door

we did not train him to do this. he trained himself, and what's incredibly frustrating about it is that he complains thoroughly when he doesn't need to go (which is often)

so. much. barking.

fun thing about herding and/or generally neurotic breeds: they are really good at following rules you have instituted, but they will also make their own Dog Rules they will follow stringently whether or not you like it

More Copero ramblings, regarding Saganu, Chiss politics, and Adela’s decision.

I haven’t spent much time reviewing my playthrough of Copero as yet, but I have been looking over the datamined dialogue that was posted on Reddit. There were some noticeable changes in some parts -- the removal of references to Valss as Zenta’s brother, for example -- and less noticeable changes in others, such as the loss of the Outlander’s statement, “I know a double agent when I see one, Lana.”

Given some of the comments I’m seeing in gen chat tonight, I’m kinda wishing they’d left that obvious comment in. Subtle doesn’t seem to be working. But I digress...

Shifting focus back to the Chiss for a moment, I started looking at the dialogue options with Raina toward the end. Adela, of course, killed Zenta for her traitorous behavior. As a result, the Ascendancy is making a lot of noise about the Alliance assassinating one of theirs, but not really taking any action.

From the datamine, unchanged in the release:

Temple: The Ascendancy has announced they are mourning Syndic Zenta's untimely death. Officially, they condemn the Alliance for her assassination.

Temple: But Saganu is grateful for how you handled the matter. Should you need it, the Expansionary Defense Force stands ready to aid you--privately.

(Adela): Saganu had to save face somehow. As long as I have their support, let them say what they want. 

Temple: The Aristocra appreciates your understanding.

The datamine revealed a few other options I found interesting, as well. They also, as far as I recall, anyway, remained the same:

If you remanded Syndic Zenta to the Alliance:

Temple: House Inrokini is furious at the Aristocra for handing Zenta to an outsider. They're calling for retribution.

If you sent Zenta back to Inrokini:

Temple: Zenta told House Inrokini everything. They're calling for retribution against the Aristocra.   

Temple: At this rate, a political war among the Chiss is inevitable.

(Adela): Saganu took a risk telling us about Theron. If we have any extra resources, send them his way.     

Temple: I'll see it done. The Ascendancy will be grateful.

And then, if an accord isn’t reached at all:

(Adela): Saganu lost my support when he asked me to kill for him. The Chiss can tear themselves apart for all I care. 

Temple: I thought you'd want to help your people. But I understand your reasons.

Temple: Let's hope your enemies don't rush to their aid instead.

So choosing any other option than killing Zenta divides the Chiss power structure even further, resulting in a political war within the Ascendancy. Such division would only benefit the Order, the internal chaos keeping the Chiss focussed within, much the way they have sought to turn the Imps, Pubs, and Alliance all on each other as well. It would also, it seems, end up with Saganu in exile and House Miurani in disgrace.

So when the Aristocra says, “The Ascendancy thanks you,” he means it -- for himself and the Ascendancy.

My Adela!muse is exceedingly happy to have saved her secret!husband from such a fate. At least for now.

I use my “likes” as a “save” function (do other people? idk. it’s a very bad idea bc ifaik you can’t search for anything specific in your likes. it’s all chronological and easy to get buried) If something looks cool but I lack the time to read I will like it to bookmark it

I would also suggest to you (and any fic writer) that if you’re not already doing so, post your writing to AO3 as well! Speaking from my experience only, using AO3 has increased my engagement both as a writer and a reader.

As a writer: bigger/ additional audience, more reliable tagging system, can easily group one-shots into a collections.

As a reader: some multi-part stories are just too confusing to navigate on tumblr! You can be notified via email when your favorite authors post a new story! Or a particular story you like gets updated! (i know tumblr offers notifications but i have not enabled them as i trust them exactly 0%) Probably some other benefit that exists but I am blanking on!

Okay so I have an honest question as a fic writer on tumblr: Why is interaction so low? Why do you like but not comment or reblog? Is there a reason for it? Is there something you don’t like about the current fics? Do you not like a certain AU or do you only read stories that are already finished? Because at this point I don’t know what to do anymore and I’m just … yeah I’d just like some answers please

(I couldn’t find any of the older posts that I’m sure exist either so I’m very grateful to you for typing it all out again.) I think I get where you’re coming from—the ladies are a strange limbo between character and costume, where looks are only incidental compared to the essence of being. You’re a script writer, not a costume designer (at least not for these) and that is wonderful.

👀I’ve gotten this ask several times, and I’m sorry I couldn’t even begin to find the posts where I answer in-depth for them, so I probably will sound like broken record here.

Cyare is left intentionally ambiguous. She’s not exactly a reader. She’s not exactly an oc. It’s kind of weird. I only have a name for her. As for her physical appearance—it’s completely left up to interpretation. She can look however you want her to look. I focus more on “personality” for each of the Batcher’s partners. So I’ve got all that fleshed out. I’ve never conjured up any physical descriptions for either women. I just know their personality, the feeling. So go crazy with it!
