Restful Journey

Summary: After a long and exhausting mission, Y/N and Rengoku embark on a train ride back to the Butterfly Mansion. Amidst Rengoku's lively conversation, Y/N's exhaustion takes over, leading to a tender moment of quiet companionship.

The train rattled gently along the tracks, the rhythmic clatter creating a soothing backdrop to the twilight outside. The mission had been grueling, and both you and Rengoku were ready for a well-deserved rest. The interior of the train was dimly lit, casting a warm glow on the wooden seats and softly vibrating windows.

Rengoku, ever the energetic Hashira, was recounting the day's events with his usual enthusiasm, his voice a comforting presence in the otherwise quiet carriage.

"And then, with one final strike, we—" he paused, suddenly aware of the weight against his shoulder. He glanced down to find you, eyes closed, head resting gently on him. A soft, contented sigh escaped your lips as you settled into sleep.

A fond smile spread across Rengoku's face. He shifted slightly, careful not to disturb you, and adjusted his haori to drape over you, providing a makeshift blanket against the cool night air.

"You must have been so tired," he murmured softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Rest well, Y/N. You've earned it."

The train continued its journey, the stars beginning to twinkle outside the window. Rengoku's gaze softened as he looked at you, peaceful and serene in your sleep. The mission had been tough, but moments like these made it all worthwhile.

He reached out and gently brushed a strand of hair from your face, his touch light and tender. "I promise to always protect you, no matter what," he whispered, his heart swelling with affection. "Sleep tight."

As the train carried you both closer to the Butterfly Mansion, the steady rhythm of the tracks and Rengoku's quiet presence provided a cocoon of safety and warmth. In that moment, surrounded by the tranquil scenery and the gentle hum of the train, there was a profound sense of peace and connection.

Rengoku leaned his head back against the seat, closing his eyes but staying awake, just to be there for you. His hand remained lightly on your shoulder, a silent guardian as you drifted deeper into a restful slumber.

• Doesn't like PDA as much so in private he loves to be clingy and loves gifting u ¿cheesy? things he'll usually ask mitsuri what to do and what gifts to get u so she takes him shopping for u etc .

( this is mitsuri for people who don't know 😁 )

Ex: mitsuri takes genya shopping for u and genya sees and a necklace he remembers u saying u liked and might consider buying it but he buys it because he wants to make u happy, plus it's on sale and mitsuri says it's a good choice and that he should put it in a little cute box for with a note before he leaves for a mission.!!

• get him soaps , hairwash and sprays , body wash , Cologne etc he will use every last drop and not waste one

Ex : you are your shared futon as genya walks in the room , towel only covering his waist below he sits and you smell the all the new products you bought him last month and everyday from that night he uses all of it and when he goes to work he makes sure to spray your favorite perfume on him just in case , plus he loves to smell good.

What do you will happen if giyu went on the mugen train with rengoku?

I think rengoku may have had a better chance of surviving if two hashira were there? Akaza would run w the sun and escape probably but I still think he’d be greatly injured somehow.

Like there was this one fic I read where Giyuu did show up cuz his crow gave the wrong directions, so Kyo got to live <3 love that for him.

If he did, we’d finally get an in-canon Rengiyuu interaction cuz we’re told they get along and talk but we’ve never seen it TT The one duo who didn’t get to interact ugh

Also I think the Giyuu & kamados sibling ship would happen a little bit sooner, cuz he’s there watching them fight. I don’t think he’d like inosuke and zenitsu much but he probably gets why they’re there
