In Sri Lanka's Uva province is the hamlet of Madulsima. It is a charming community with mountains that is well-known for camping and trekking. The Madulsima Mini World's End is one such well-liked site and a well-known trekking location in the region. While hiking to Madulsima, many travelers also enjoy camping among the clouds.

The height of Madlsima Mountain, which is 383 meters, is between 700 and 1000 meters above sea level. Roeberry Estate owns the mountain's highest point. At the very end of this estate lies the Madulsima Mini World's End, also known as the Pitamaruwa Mini World's End. Madulsima is a heavenly site that is situated at a high height, is largely enveloped in mist, and gives the impression that one is traveling through clouds. On the northernmost tip of the Madulsima mountain range sits Kalugala, a well-liked destination for hikers.

When you arrive, a group of mountains covered in sparse, dry trees will be seen. The most notable aspect of Madulsima World's End is that guests can see a large plain that extends from the base of the mountain to the East coast. But at Horton Plains, tourists may witness a number of mountains and rock fragments that have fallen from a cliff. The Uva Province Tourist Board oversees its management.

There are at least four more well-known viewpoints on the mountains in central Sri Lanka with steep, precipitous edges that are known as "mini world's ends" in addition to the main World's End sight at Horton Plains. These include the Deanston Mini World's End, Pitawala Pathana Mini World's End, Selagama Mini World's End, and Madolsima Mini World's End. The latter two of these are situated in the Dumbara range's hills. The luxuriant Roeberry Estate tea plantation ends at The Madulsima World's End.

The month of August would be the ideal time to travel to Madulsima. because you would be able to spend more time in nature and the weather tends to be dryer. The likelihood of mist covering the region is higher. However, the weather would be less foggy in August. As a result, you will be able to see everything around you more easily. After Cocogalla, the road is in bad condition.

Geoffrey Bawa, a prominent architect from Sri Lanka, lived on the Lunuganga Estate.

The property had previously served as a rubber plantation under the British and a cinnamon estate during the Dutch era. The neighborhood tax collector received the tiny house in the estate on a rental basis in 1948. Geoffrey Bawa, a recently minted attorney, purchased it from the previous owner in 1949 with the intention of converting the estate cottage into a weekend residence and establishing a tropical take on a European Renaissance garden. On the Dedduwa Lake's shores near Bentota, the 6.1 hectares (15 acres) property is situated. The estate was given the name Lunuganga by Bawa, which is Sinhala for Salt River.

Bawa went back to England to continue his architectural studies after realizing his lack of background in the field. He returned to Ceylon in 1958 after receiving his architect license and joined the firm of Edwards, Reid, and Beggs.

Until his passing in May 2003, Bawa continued to build the house and gardens at Lunuganga for forty years. On Cinnamon Hill, Bawa was cremated, and his remains were interred there.

Visitors to this tiny community are drawn in by the abundance of stunning, remote routes. On Sinharaja's eastern border, a 16 km route connects Rakwana and Suriyakanda. It may be recognized as a region with a warm climate and a misty setting surrounded by stunning mountains. The Little Eighteen Bend is another name for this path that winds through the mountains and through waterfalls over the Springwood Estate. Ten elbow bends on the road, in the midst of tall Russa trees, give it its form.

This route provides a great picture of the pure water running from the natural little streams on either side, surrounded by lovely tea plantations and gently rising hills. Hadapan Falls and a number of other little waterfalls and water pools may be seen after crossing Rakwana.

Motorcyclists and children love Suriya Kanda and that route. Although this mountain range is surrounded by a dewy atmosphere that is frequently coated in dewdrops, it is also connected to a significant number of killings that are thought to have been perpetrated by Jepsen in 1994. The souls of Suriyakanda are still mute. According to some, Asena is a forlorn region where the wind weeps and where the dead sometimes manifests themselves as ghosts at night.

The Rakwana observation point and the 10-lane road give stunning views of the ecology, but the TV and ITN transmission towers at the summit of Suriyakanda are off-limits to the general public. The road from Rakwana to Sooriyakanda involves ten bends that correspond to the 18 elbow bends encountered on the way to Mahiyangana.

Sri Lankan settlement of Kandalama. It may be found in Central Province. The Dambulla cave temple from the first century BC and the Sigiriya rock fortification from the fifth century AD are the two UNESCO world heritage monuments that stand out for Kandalama.

The 2000-year-old cave temple at Dambulla and the Sigiriya Rock Fortress are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and Kandalama is also home to the Kaludiya Pokuna Archeological Forest and one of Sri Lanka's first five-star hotels, Heritance Kandalama.

At Kandalama lies the historic irrigation tank that King Vasabha constructed around 1700 years ago. The settlement is located at the northern terminus of the Matale hills and the start of the dry plains, nestled at the foot of Ereulagala (696 meters above mean sea level) and Dikkandahena (618 meters above mean sea level). The town is located at the intersection of the dry and intermediate zones.

Temple of the Tooth in Sri Lanka

Sri Dalada Maligawa, also known as the Shrine of the Sacred Tooth Relic, is a Buddhist temple in Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is situated within the compound of the old Kingdom of Kandy's royal palace, which also includes a tooth-of-Buddha relic. The relic has been significant in local politics since the beginning since it is thought that whomever controls the relic controls the nation. The artifact was once in the possession of Sinhalese rulers. Mostly because of the temple and the artifact, the temple of the tooth is a World Heritage Site.

Daily worship is performed in the inner chamber of the temple by the two specific chapters, the Malwathu and Asgiri chapters. Three rituals are carried out each day: one in the morning, one at noon, and one in the evening. Every Wednesday, the relic is symbolically bathed in holy water known as Nanumura Mangallaya, which is thought to have healing properties. This herbal mixture is produced from scented water and aromatic flowers.

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam bombed the shrine in 1998, causing damage. However, it was later entirely restored.

In 1988, Horton Plains National Park was established as a national park in Sri Lanka's central highlands. At an elevation of 2,100-2,300 m (6,900-7,500 ft), it has cloud forest as well as montane grassland. It has a diverse animal and plant population, and many of the species are local endemics. It is located 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) from Ohiya, 6 kilometers (3.7 km) from the renowned Ohiya Gap/Dondra Watch, and 32 kilometers (20 mi) from Nuwara Eliya. It is also a well-liked tourist site.

Three significant Sri Lankan rivers Mahaweli, Kelani, and Walawe have their origins on the Horton Plains. The plains are referred to as Maha Eliya Plains in Sinhala. Here, stone artifacts from the Balangoda civilization have been discovered. The grasslands and montane forests that make up the vegetation of the plains are abundant in endemic woody species. Sambar deer from Sri Lanka is the park's primary animal, and it is also an Important Bird Area with a variety of birds that are both native to Sri Lanka and unique to the Horton Plains. One of the main dangers to the park is forest dieback, which some studies contend is the result of a natural occurrence.

Among the park's tourist attractions are Baker's Falls and World's End, a high cliff.

Kitulgala In Sri Lanka

A tiny town in Sri Lanka's west is called Kitulgala. Only the concrete foundations for the bridge exist today from the Kelani River in Kitulgala, where the Academy Award-winning The Bridge on the River Kwai was shot. A few kilometers upstream, Kitulgala serves as a starting point for white-water rafting. It is also a popular destination for adventure-based training courses.

The main destination for travelers interested in white water rafting in Sri Lanka is Kitulgala. Kitulgala's natural beauty, birdlife, and white river rafting are its main draws. Even though the Kelani River is wide in Kitulgala, it is shallow in most places, making these spots safe for swimming and enjoying the surroundings, particularly during the first three months of the year.

Arugam Bay in Sri lanka

Arugam Bay sometimes referred to as "Arugam Kudah" locally, is a historic hamlet of the former Batticaloa Territory and is located on the Indian Ocean in the dry zone of Sri Lanka's southeast coast (Mattakallappu Desam). The bay is around 4 kilometers (2.5 mi) south of the market town of Pottuvil and 117 kilometers (73 km) south of Batticaloa. It is also 320 kilometers (200 mi) due east of Colombo. The area's primary community, Ullae, is primarily Muslim[1], but to the south of the village, there are sizable Sri Lankan Tamil and Sinhala populations as well as a handful of foreign ex-pats, mainly from Europe and Australia. Although historically fishing has been the main industry in the region, tourism has developed significantly in recent years. Bay of Cynodon dactylon is the exact Tamil translation of Arugam Kudah. Several good surf breaks make Arugam Bay a popular destination for surfers, but the area's beaches, lagoons, historic temples, and adjacent Kumana National Park all draw visitors.

The ideal time of year to visit Arugam Bay is often from April to October. The beach extends for about 400 meters and is roughly 6 feet wide. Crocodile Rock, Panama, Okanda, and Whiskey Point are some of its points. This season's waves are well-known worldwide. Evenings are spent having parties. The weather is still fantastic outside of this season, but there are no waves and no parties. You should go whenever you like. Shops and restaurants are open from February through October.

Galle Fort in Sri Lanka

The Galle Fort, located in the Bay of Galle on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka, was first constructed by the Portuguese in 1588 and then completely reinforced by the Dutch beginning in 1649. It is a historical, archaeological, and architectural cultural monument that, although having stood for more than 432 years, still presents well thanks to considerable rebuilding work carried out by the Sri Lankan Archaeological Department.

Ella in Sri Lanka

An Urban Council oversees the small town of Ella, which is located in the Badulla District of the Uva Province of Sri Lanka. It is located 1,041 meters (3,415 feet) above sea level and about 200 kilometers (120 miles) east of Colombo. Rich in biological richness, the region is home to a wide range of vegetation and fauna. Hills covered in cloud forests and tea plantations encircle Ella. Due to its elevation, the town experiences a colder climate than the lowlands around. Views across Sri Lanka's southern plains are possible from the Ella Gap.

The Main Line's 75th station, Ella Railway Station, is situated 168.41 miles (271.03 kilometers) away from Colombo. All trains traveling on the Main Line stop at the station, which has a single platform. In July 1918, the station debuted.

Gartmore Falls - Sri Lanka

Because of its proximity to Adam's Peak, this waterfall is also known as Sri Pada falls or Adam's Peak falls. This waterfall is often referred to as Gartmore Falls because it is located on the Gartmore estate.

Two streams merge above Gartmore Falls and flow directly into the Maskeliya Reservoir as its source of water. Before merging, each of these streams forges a waterfall inside the Gartmore Estate. Gartmore Estate Waterfalls is the collective name for these two waterfalls.

Shrine of Our Lady of Madhu

A Roman Catholic Marian shrine named after Our Lady of the Rosary of Madhu is located in Sri Lanka's Mannar district. This shrine, which has a history spanning more than 400 years, serves as a place of devotion and pilgrimage for Sri Lankan Catholics. The location is well renowned as a center of devotion for both Tamil and Sinhalese Catholics and is regarded as the most sacred Catholic shrine on the island. The church has served as a symbol of harmony amongst people of many religious backgrounds, including Buddhists, Hindus, and Protestants, in addition to Tamils and Sinhalese.

On July 2, 1924, Pope Pius XI gave the picture of Our Lady of Madhu a canonical coronation. Before the start of the Sri Lankan Civil War, attendance at the August event occasionally reached up to a million people. Due to the presence of refugee camps close to the shrine complex and its location in the middle of a combat zone, the Civil War had a significant impact on pilgrimage to this site. It received many shellings. 

History

Prior to the 16th century, Christianity in Sri Lanka was not well recognized, despite certain local legends asserting that Saint Thomas the Apostle lived and worked there. The Kingdom of Jaffna, which included the northern peninsula of Sri Lanka, is known to have been converted to Roman Catholicism by Portuguese missionaries from India, particularly under the direction of Saint Francis Xavier. Both the Jaffna king and the Dutch persecuted the newly converted Christians. In this period, the Catholics in Manthai came together to construct a church and erected a figure of Our Lady of Good Health in a shrine.

Twenty Catholic families fled from Mantai to the safer area of Madhu in 1670 as a result of the Dutch invasion and persecution of the Catholic Church. They also took the statue of Mary from that church with them. Around the same time, 700 more Catholics moved into the Wanni woods from the Jaffna peninsula. They erected a new temple and the statue when these two groups came together in Madhu.

Unquestionably, the Kumana National Park is an ornithologist's paradise. It is one of the best bird sanctuaries in the nation and is located on the southeast coast of the country, 391 kilometers from Colombo. Kumana and Yala National Park are adjacent. Yala East National Park was once known as Kumana until it adopted its current name on September 5, 2006. The largest bird refuge in Sri Lanka is the reputed Kumana Wildlife Sanctuary. The Kudumbigala sanctuary serves as the park's entry, and it is reachable through Beragala and Koslanda as well as the Uduwalawe - Tanamalvilla road.

A little town called Mirissa may be found in the Southern Province’s Matara District on Sri Lanka’s southern coast. It is about 4 meters (13 feet) above sea level and around 150 kilometers (93 miles) south of Colombo. One of the most well-liked surfing beaches in Sri Lanka is Mirissa beach. The bay’s western edge, close to Weligama beach, produces stronger waves that are ideal for surfing. In Mirissa, between November and March, when the surf is at its peak, is the best time to go surfing. The beach in Mirissa is the ideal location for snorkeling. Near the coast of Mirissa Beach, there are several reefs and rocks where marine life may be spotted. The ideal location for snorkeling is on Mirissa Beach’s right side.

A highly beautiful site of worship, Sri Nagala Raja Maha Viharaya is situated in the Nikawewa region between Moragollagama and Madagalla. This temple, which is located at the base of a sizable hill, is believed to have been constructed during the reign of King Devanampiyatissa. Additionally, it is said that Prince Saliya, the son of King Dutugemunu, was in charge of much of the temple's subsequent works. This temple, which had been abandoned for a very long period, was eventually emptied out and made entirely sacrosanct.
