Zeke furrows his brows, listening to her. He's glad she crossed out the first thought on his list: that she should probably get some sleep. Between them, they probably got as much sleep as a nurse working back-to-back 12-hour shifts. And as far as he knows, neither of them worked in health care. He bites down on his bottom lip nervously.

"That's... not the most insane I've heard," he says. He used to study psychology after all. "Hallucinations stem from fear... or, or stress. Has anything been bogging you down lately?" He knows how annoying it is to look at everything through logic, but he's got to put his degree to use somehow (because he sure ain't doing that by gaming 24-7).

Were this any other day, she'd likely give him shit for playing without inviting her. Not unusual, she isn't exactly into streaming her digital misfortune for all of the world to see, but it's a way for her to stay social, to stay connect lest she fades into the background like a ghost. Ironic, considering that which seems so intent to cling to her now; ghosts don't hurt. They don't do that.

"I-- ah, fuck." Exhalation flares her nostrils before she buries her face in her hands, her own pulse thrumming in her ears, before running a hand through her hair. Sinking into the couch, she waits for him to join her, letting the gradual fade of the LEDs steal her attention as a brief reprieve.

"You're gonna think I'm insane." Maybe. Maybe maybe maybe. "I've been seeing this-- shadow everywhere I go. I thought it was from lack of sleep but that, that's not it. Sometimes it's not just a shadow either. Lately it's been starting to look more, I don't fucking know, real? Not even that. I can hear it sometimes. I can feel it."

Now Watching: The Saw Cinematic Universe!

This is one of my favorite cinematic universes. I have always loved these movies. Its horror, but done right. Scary for the right reasons, but not cheap jump scares. Music is great, who doesn't love Billy? I just recently watched Saw X and decided to make a post or two about it!

Saw (2004)

Photographer Adam Stanheight (Leigh Whannell) and oncologist Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) regain consciousness while chained to pipes at either end of a filthy bathroom. As the two men realize they've been trapped by a sadistic serial killer nicknamed "Jigsaw" and must complete his perverse puzzle to live, flashbacks relate the fates of his previous victims. Meanwhile, Dr. Gordon's wife (Monica Potter) and young daughter (Makenzie Vega) are forced to watch his torture via closed-circuit video.

Saw II (2005)

On the hunt for the twisted vigilante and serial killer Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), Detective Eric Matthews (Donnie Wahlberg) and his team must apprehend the elusive murderer to rescue eight people trapped in an abandoned house, before they succumb to his torturous and murderous games. One twist to this task is that Matthews' own son, Daniel (Erik Knudsen), is among the eight people Jigsaw has chosen to test for their lack of morality. With nerve gas pumping through the house, every second counts.

Saw III (2006)

Dr. Lynn Denlon (Bahar Soomekh) becomes a pawn in the Jigsaw Killer's (Tobin Bell) latest gory game. Kidnapped and taken to an abandoned warehouse, she finds Jigsaw bedridden and dying. Her task is to keep the maniac alive long enough for Jeff (Angus Macfadyen), a fellow victim, to complete his own task. Each is unaware that Jigsaw has much bigger -- and deadlier -- plans in store.

Saw IV (2007)

During the autopsy of serial killer Jigsaw (Tobin Bell), a cassette tape is discovered in his stomach in which he warns that his gory games will continue. Sure enough, SWAT Lt. Daniel Rigg (Lyriq Bent) is forced to follow a blood-drenched trail of torture, dismemberment and death in order to find two missing colleagues. A pair of FBI profilers follow Riggs, suspecting he might be Jigsaw's accomplice, even as they unlock the puzzle of the killer's origins, seen in gruesome flashbacks.

Saw V (2008)

Despite the fact that fiendish serial killer Jigsaw is dead, his work lives on through a new apprentice, Lieutenant Mark Hoffman, a cop who appeared to be hot on the murderer's trail. As fellow lawman Agent Peter Strahm begins to suspect Hoffman is Jigsaw's protégé, the fledgling killer sets out to dispose of him.

Saw VI (2009)

With Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) still directing events from beyond the grave, Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) emerges as the heir to the killer's twisted legacy. But as the FBI closes in, Hoffman sets in motion a game that is designed to reveal Jigsaw's grand scheme.

Saw 3D (2010)

As a fierce battle rages over Jigsaw's (Tobin Bell) terrible legacy, survivors seek support from a fellow survivor and self-help guru, who has a few dark secrets of his own. Meanwhile, crooked cop Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) seeks revenge against Jigsaw's wife and an author who has his own story.

Saw X (2023)

Hoping for a miraculous cure, John Kramer travels to Mexico for a risky and experimental medical procedure, only to discover the entire operation is a scam to defraud the most vulnerable. Armed with a newfound purpose, the infamous serial killer uses deranged and ingenious traps to turn the tables on the con artists.

Great series. I love this. There is no movie quite like this set, and its inspired movies since its inception. Different people have been involved in it, but it has always retained its quirks. Tobin Bell is amazing. If you have not seen any of them, look out for the chronological order post to see how to properly experience this!

OH!

On the note of more Zoids brainrot, apparently in the manga version of Chaotic Century/Guardian Force, there's a few changes made to things to make it more overt that CC/GF and New Century Zero take place in the same continuity.

For one, Van's Blade Liger evolves yet again into a Liger Zero, and Raven's Geno Breaker evolves into a Berserk Fury.

Also, Remember what Doc Tauros said in NCZ about what an Ultimate X Zoid was? A Zoid in which an Organoid system was permanently fused into a Zoid... and the only two Ultimate X Zoids we ever see in New Century Zero... were a Liger Zero and Berserk Fury. You know what kind of Zoids Zeke and Shadow, Van and Raven's robot buddies were? Organoids. No wonder Bit and Vega had so much difficulty controlling their Zoids every time they fought. Even when Van and Raven are long dead, Zeke and Shadow survived in some way and STILL have beef with each other after all this time.

SHIT I only have like the 5 first volumes of the manga so I had no idea about that. But I did suspect that the Ultimate X Zoids had organoids, I think it was mentioned like very casually in the spanish dub of NCZ

the idea of Zeke and Shadow living on without Van and Raven kinda makes me sad :( but I'm glad they survived and retained their personalities bc I love organoids,,,,, I kinda wanted to give Mia an organoid too when I rebooted her Zoids verse but she already has so much going on so I let it go

I really should buy the rest of the manga now that I actually have money to spend

Akari is the ancestor to Lucas who eventually get’s thrown back in time. Thankfully they immediately pick up on the family vibes and just treat each other like brother and sister. Maybe she get’s with Wanda’s brother, Zeke, so that’s why Dawn and Lucas end up having similar appearances.

Cyllene x Prof. Laventon. Okay so this would make Cyrus, Leon and Hop related somehow but to add some degree to separation to that let’s just say Cyrus’s part of the family comes from a sibling of Cyllene. Also since Cyllene is someone who seems to care for others unlike Cyrus I want her to have the fun descendants. But Cyrus got the no eyebrows and bad at feelings part of that bloodline.

Iscan x Palina’s descendants lead to Marlon. It still works weather you acknowledge the weird tan or just pretend he’s that shade all the time. 

Tuli is the ancestor of Bianca, this was something I thought the moment I saw her in game but I am going to take something else from this video on ancestor speculation and say that she is also Ginter’s wife which would make Bianca and Volkner like cousins or something. (that video I linked is very good and it’s also where I got the Marlon idea from so go watch it 😊)

VEGAS SUBPLOTS.

please ready fully before taking a subplot. for our week long event , i wrote up some ( or took suggestions for ) subplots ––– or small side plots that you can be involved in. there are some that will only have one slot open and some that will be open to more , so make sure you read the details. this will be updated as people ask to fill the spots. they’re first come first serve , so scoop one up if you like it. just to keep this consistent , please im/dm the main to fill a subplot , i will not fill slots through ims on my characters or discord. please im the main only with the subplot number + your characters name. if they all fill up , i will write more ! you’re welcome to one slot per character unless saturday hits and there are still slots open. in that case , i’ll let you guys know and you can fill a second+ spot to make sure everyone has a full plot. these are totally optional ! 

you’ve obviously allowed to plot other things that happen individually , but we thought that it would be fun to have some specific plots that you guys can know about ooc to stir up some drama and create some plot points for the group. you can decide with your subplot partner(s) when the subplot takes place. please do not assume knowledge of any subplot until those characters have made it clear that it’s happened !

they are traveling in whatever way with whoever you decide , but mostly they will be traveling by car in friend groups. hotel check in time is at 3 pm pst / 6 pm est ! they are all staying at the same hotel and pitched in to get a handful of rooms that they can share. room hopping is encouraged !

no one knows how these four all ended up spending time together , but they’re gone literally all night because they ended up getting lost. they started walking , trying to find a bar , and now it’s 6 am and they’re finally rolling back up to the hotel and boy did they get into some shit when they were lost. ( what happened while they were lost is to be discussed by the 4 players ! )

apparently the hangover can relate to real life because three friends spend literally forever looking for the fourth friend who , unironically , fell asleep when they were on the roof of their hotel partying the night before. thankfully , no tigers were involved in the partying , and they find their friend without making too much of a ruckus , though they were this close to getting the police involved.

12. Most frustrating game to play?

This was hard to think of because generally if a game is genuinely frustrating I don’t want to continue playing it, but uhhh I would say Jak 2! I really enjoyed the first Jak and Daxter and I was invested in the story, but the gameplay in Jak 2 was just impossibly hard. Idk, maybe it was just me because I played it at a time when I was relatively new to platformers? But it just was impossible for me! I ended up watching a youtuber play the rest of the story and all of Jak 3 ;_;

I can think of other games that frustrated me in terms of like.. where the story went or maybe the potential in it that was wasted, or other more conceptual things like that, but as far as gameplay being frustrating I think that one was the worst! Assassin’s Creed Rogue was also up there in terms of being much harder than the previous game in its series too, but I was at least able to complete the entire story, just not get 100% on it ;3;

13. Comfort game?

This is going to sound weird probably, but Heavy Rain. I first played it when my dad was diagnosed with cancer, and if you don’t know, the plot revolves around a father who is grieving one child and is going to extreme lengths to save the other, so it felt idk.. Not so much related but it had a strong emotional resonance in me? I used to just sit in the dark of my room and replay the prologue chapter over and over-- which is just like, a normal day in the life of their family before everything goes to shit. I played the entirety of the game many times too but that chapter was my go-to when I was feeling really miserable.

24. Favorite characters from a game?

This is another hard one to answer because there’s so many characters I love!! But I think I will narrow this down to like.. characters that I strongly relate to and/or helped me get through/process some awful period in my life. In no particular order...

37. Are you a completionist?

Ohhh absolutely! I’m not as fanatical about it now as I used to be, I think just because I don’t have much free time the older I get. But even before trophies were a thing I was obsessed with doing 100% of everything in games, and even made self-imposed challenges in my favorite games! I have a very hard time letting myself relax so I have to give myself goals to work toward or else I feel guilty for not being productive.

38. Has anything made you ragequit a game?

I don’t like to lose ahaha it is very rare that I will quit a game because I’m doing badly! I usually just keep going and getting more tilted :’) but I do tend to ragequit games when they crash frequently! Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim are good examples of that, and more recently Cyberpunk 2077. I do eventually go back and finish them of course (does one ever really “finish” skyrim though?) but usually if I take an unplanned break from playing a game it is due to a game-ending error.

I love New Century Zero! There's a lot of background stuff in NCZ that connects it to CC/GF, such as the presence of Organoids, or at the very least, Ultimate X Zoids, which are Zoids wherein the Organoid has completely fused with the Zoid's core itself. Also the wrecked Ultrasaurus that the final battle takes place on is also equipped with a Gravity Cannon just like the one seen in Guardian Force, suggesting it may be the same one that Moonbay commanded.

There's also the fact that in the Chaotic Century manga, the core of Van's Blade Liger gets transplanted into a Liger Zero, and Raven trades up to a Berserk Fury, and in NCZ proper Bit pilots an Ultimate X Liger Zero and Vega pilots an Ultimate X Berserk Fury, there's plenty of implications that suggest that Zeke and Shadow are fused with what may be Van and Raven's old Zoids respectively, hence why they were so hellbent on fighting each other, regardless of both Bit and Vega's attempts at reining them in.
