“Fire all cannons when I say so!” the Admiral instructed.

A battle among the warships had broken out over Admiral Perry Yung’s home planet of Felucia. The Separatists had a surprise attack planned for the Republic army, but being skilled in military planning and with some aid from Captain Sidhant’s piloting, they were prepared. Josh and Vanya were leading a flight squadron to take out the Separatists’ new war machine against Republic ships that would cripple their shields and jam their communications, and the team was successful.

Metal upon metal was exploding with impacts from cannons, and droid parts were being blasted into space. The air was thick with everyone on edge as the battle was waging on. Now, that the enemy’s shields were down, the surprise attack taken care of by the squadron, and the new weapon damaged, the Republic could now win this battle.

“Now!” the Admiral commanded.

The cannons went off faster than the most loaded machine gun. Each blast hit the enemy ships, causing the most final damages to the Separatist ships. The damages were so powerful that one of the ships managed to split into two. However, Admiral Yung did spot an escape pod fleeing the scene.

“Admiral,” Vanya commed in, “we have victory once again. However, the droid leader got away.”

“I noticed, General Hendranata,” Perry replied. “But I’d rather not create another battle just to get to him. You and General Bautista go ahead and bring the squadron back to the hanger.”

“Copy that.”

“Sir,” a droid’s voice said from behind him. T-8DH.

Perry turned around to see the metallic blue droid shuffling towards him.

“Your wife is trying to get a hold of you,” he said.

“Chrissy?” the Admiral asked. “What’s happened?”

“I informed Mrs. Yung of your whereabouts, and she seemed to be in a lot of pain.”

“8DH, is she alright?”

“She told me to tell you to hurry back to Coruscant, because she’s about to deliver.”

Panic set into Perry’s mind. “She’s not alone, is she?”

“No, A.N.A and R7 are with her until you and some medic droids get there.”

Perry rushed over to his pilot. “Set a course back to Coruscant and jump to light speed.”

“What’s going on, Admiral?” Josh asked over the comm.

“Are you and everyone else back on board?” Perry asked.

“Yes. Me, Vanya, and the rest of our squadron.”

“We’re heading back to Coruscant, and we’re about to jump into light speed.”

“For celebration?”

“That, and I’m going to be receiving a ‘welcome home’ gift. Probably the best one in my life.”

The ice blue tunnel dissolved into a scene of Coruscant, and the ship quickly began to enter the atmosphere within an hour and a half. The admiral’s already racing heart seemed to pound harder and harder the closer to ship got to the landing at the Senate building. He was eager to see his wife and their new addition. However, he had to stay calm and collected when they landed and greeted the Chancellor and Senator Nguyen.

Once the ship was finally docked, Admiral Perry, his crew, and the Jedi exited out onto the bay. They were immediately greeted by two political figures.

“Admiral Yung,” the Chancellor smiled, “on behalf of the Senate, I would like to congratulate you on another successful mission against the Separatists.”

“I can’t take all of the credit,” Perry replied. “I have my men and Generals Bautista and Hendranata to thank as well.”

“Of course. And we are thank you to your contribution in this war.”

“We are here to bring and sustain the peace as much as possible, Chancellor,” said Vanya.

With a slight nod, the Chancellor turned and began to discuss a celebration with everyone else as they made their way inside the building.

Admiral Perry excused himself to get back to his home, and Josh was able to sneak away to find Chell.

Chell had met Josh when he had been assigned to be her bodyguard after Separatists had threatened her father for refusing to provide them with weapon supplies. Attachment was strictly forbidden within the Jedi Order, and Josh knew he was violating it the moment he knew he couldn’t control his blossoming love for the heiress to Hudson Corp., one of the largest weapons and ship manufacturing companies in the galaxy. The two began secretly meeting when they weren’t busy shortly after everything had settled down, and their love had been a secret since. No one except for Chell’s droid knew about them.

He didn’t have to jog far before a five foot four inch figure embraced him. A wave of warmth and comfort always overwhelmed him whenever she was around. All he felt was love radiating off of her.

“I missed you, Chell,” he whispered.

“You fight in these battles so much,” she whined softly, “that I get lonely and wonder if I’ll have you in my arms again.”

“Of course you will. Dead of alive, I’ll always be with you.”

Pulling back with his arms still around her waist, he took a good look at her. Her long, red hair had been styled in soft curls, and a sparkling pink, floor-length dress covered her body.

“You look so beautiful,” Josh smiled.

“Dad had a business lunch with another company executive and wanted everyone to dress nicely,” Chell explained. “I was lucky enough to excuse myself early when I heard you and everyone else were returning from Felucia. I had to see you.”

“I could sense your eagerness.”

Chell chuckled, then stared longingly into her secret lover’s eyes. Those big brown eyes she adored so much shared that longing feeling. He hated being away from her so much, but he knew he had a duty to the galaxy to protect the citizens of all planets and keep the peace as a Jedi. He wanted to show Chell off to others, to display his love for her, but that would cost him his place in the Jedi Order. Josh never understood why loving someone was considered “attachment” or why it was forbidden. For now, he was willing to risk everything for Chell.

“Kiss me,” he whispered.

Without any hesitation, Chell placed a soft kiss on the Jedi’s lips, and he held her as if she were the most fragile doll in the galaxy.

Perry rushed down the penthouse halls and to his door. His fingers quickly danced on the keypad, and it granted him access to his house. 8DH shuffled in behind him. The open spaced design of the living room welcomed him as the afternoon sun poured into the room through the domed window that touched the floor and trained all the up to the ceiling. He was happy to finally be home and not worry about anything else until his next assignment.

“Welcome home, Master Perry,” A.N.A greeted him, her mouthpiece blinking with every word she spoke. She had come from the direction of the admiral and Chrissy’s bedroom, and R7’s little maroon and white gold body rolled in right behind him as he whistled in excitement.

“Where’s my wife?” Perry asked them.

“The medical and midwife droids are still with her,” A.N.A explained. “They are almost done with their examinations, but you may go see her now.”

R7 continued his gleeful whistles and beeps as the admiral raced into the bedroom. Once he reached the automatic door, it recognized him and opened to reveal his beloved wife sitting up in their bed being checked over by the medical droid. On the other side of the room, the midwife droid was tending to a squealing newborn.

“Perry!” Chrissy called for him. She reached her arms out for him to embrace her, and he gently hugged her and kissed her.

“Are you alright?” he asked as he brushed his wife’s blonde-and-pink strands away. “8DH told me you were in pain.”

“I’m still somewhat sore,” Chrissy sighed. “But I’m better. 8DH meant that I was close to pushing. R7 was quick to reach out for the medical and midwife droids we had reserved for when it was time. He made his arrival about an hour ago.”

“He?”

“Congratulations, Admiral,” said the medical droid. “You’ve just become a father to healthy son.”
