a/n. doctor doctor is stuck in my head and i’ve been wanting to make a gunwook fic, so it’s perfect timing ^_^

everyone knew park gunwook — gunwook, the star player of the school’s basketball team, gunwook, the guy who never missed a shot, gunwook, who wouldn’t miss a game for the world. he loved basketball, and everyone loved him, everyone except you.

you didn’t hate him per se, but you wouldn’t seem to find the hype around him. of course, you could agree if people spoke about his looks, but his personality? he wasn’t anything special.

gunwook was flawless on the court with his precision and skill. no one could ever remember a time when he made a mistake, but lately, something odd had started. ever since you became the nurse at the clinic, gunwook had been getting injured more than usual. it was as if every time he played, he’d somehow end up with a bruise or a twisted ankle, always finding his way to you to get treated.

you couldn’t understand why he; who was so perfect, kept making these mistakes on the court. due to your slight dislike of him, you tried to keep your distance, but with each injury, you ended up seeing him more. and though you didn’t want to admit it, a small part of you wondered if it was more than just bad luck.

“y/n?” a voice echoed through your silent office, “could you bring your kit and come to the court? gunwook got hit in the head.” you recognised the boy as one of gunwook’s friends, another basketball player. “alright, i’ll be right there.” you kept your composure light and smiley, but you couldn’t think of a way how gunwook, someone who was also known to have good agility, could’ve been hit in the head hard enough to need someone to care for him.

you weren’t in any rush to go over, not like the other players were, but when you noticed him rubbing his head, you figured that you might as well check, turning your slow walk into a paced jog.

as you made your way over, you noticed his friends were acting a bit… strange. they weren’t laughing or making jokes, but there was a weird energy between them — glances exchanged, suppressed smiles, like they were all in on something. gunwook wasn’t in much pain, just a bit shaken, but his friends were acting like everything was perfectly normal, almost too normal, considering the situation. you couldn’t put your finger on it, but the way they behaved around gunwook left you feeling a little suspicious. they weren't concerned, not in the way you'd expect after an impact like that, making you wonder if they were up to something.

you crouched by him, holding him up so he’d sit up properly, had he been laying down flat before. “does it hurt here?” you gently put pressure on his forehead, unsure of where he got hit. “a little,” his voice carried a hint of discomfort, “it’s kinda like… here.” he took your hand off of his forehead, bringing it to the side of his head. “tell me when it hurts.” you gradually applied more and more pressure on the area, promptly hearing a wince. “i think you’ll be okay, just be careful. follow me, i’ll get you some ice.” you got back up, extending your hand toward him, offering him help to get back on his feet.

he sat in front of you, waiting for whatever help you could give. once you looked at gunwook closer, you noticed a few scratches on his hands and a small cut on his forehead. it wasn’t serious, but you still reached for some ointment and a plaster to tend to the wounds. carefully applying it to his forehead, you found herself realizing gunwook looked a lot cuter up close than you ever really paid attention to before. his features were soft, and even with the small scrapes, there was something about him that made him seem a bit more attractive than she’d expected. you quickly pushed the thought aside, focusing on helping him rather than letting her mind wander.

you couldn’t be thinking like this — about gunwook, or anything else that made your heart flutter a little, but it was hard. it didn’t make sense. you knew he wouldn’t like you back, and that was fine. you didn't think less of yourself, but the truth was clear: there were so many other girls that were prettier and ‘more his type’ who thought of him the same way too. you had no reason to dwell on these feelings, especially when it wouldn’t lead anywhere. you couldn’t let herself get caught up in something pointless.

“focus, y/n. don’t daydream, your patient is hurt!” he whined, playing a small pout on his lips. “i’m not… i’m just a bit tired.” you hoped your lie was strategic enough, but acting wasn’t your major. he could see straight through you. “hm,” he cooed, “tired of what?” gunwook tilted his head to the side in mild confusion, the corner of his lips curled up into a playful smile as he looked at you. it was almost as if he knew that you weren’t telling the truth and was waiting for you to explain. “tired of you always coming here. i thought you were the best player, how come you keep ending up hurt?”

gunwook couldn’t help but giggle, seeing how clueless you were. you had no idea how obvious his feelings were. it was like a secret game to him, watching you so unaware of how much he liked you, despite him constantly creating a reason to find you.

gunwook knew exactly what he was doing when he’d fake an injury during basketball practice. it wasn’t that he actually got hurt, but he’d always manage to ‘slip’ or ‘twist’ something just enough to need attention. but the real reason? he loved having your attention on him. he’d sit there, trying to hide his grin, pretending to be in pain just to have you close. it wasn’t that he wanted to get hurt, but the way you cared for him made his heart race, and the excuse to see you — even for just a moment — was worth it every time.

“you’re seriously blind, huh?” he folded his arms, an irritating smirk on his lips. “i like you, silly. i’ve only been getting hurt because i wanna see you, and it wasn’t even that big of an issue… to me, at least.” gunwook couldn’t help but smile, his eyes lit up with a quiet confidence, as if the words he just said were exactly what he’d been waiting to say for a long time.

“what?” you couldn’t find the right words. you wanted to say something, anything, but the words just wouldn’t come out. every time you opened your mouth, it felt like they got stuck somewhere in your throat, tangled. the more he came to your office, it became more obvious to you that you liked him. you knew that much — maybe more than you even realized; but trying to put it into words felt impossible. it wasn’t that you were unsure of your feelings, it was just that every time you looked at him, all you could think about was how much you wanted him to know, but not knowing how to say it.

“i’m not joking, y/n. why do you think i’d keep coming here for something so small, like a cut? i could take care of that at home. i come here because i like you, because i want to see you.” gunwook looked at you, his eyes held an honesty that was impossible to miss, as if everything he was feeling was laid bare in that quiet, unwavering gaze.

“please, give me a chance, y/n.” you couldn’t say no to him, his eyes were basically kneeling in front of you, pleading for you to say yes. “you’re so desperate, it really doesn’t fit your look.” you giggled. you couldn’t believe the park gunwook was on his knees for you. “is that a no?” he said, in a much, much sadder voice. “i didn’t say it was.” you couldn’t help but laugh at his face. “i like you too, gunwook. but you better stop getting hurt for me.” you crossed your arms, pretending to look annoyed, but the playful smirk tugging at your lips betrayed you.

“i promise i’ll stop,” he put his pinky out, “and i’ll win every game for you.” his smile grew bigger. you locked your pinky with his, and pressed your thumbs together. “you better.”

One evening, after you’ve spent the day together laughing and sharing stories, he’d muster the courage to bring it up.

Zhanghao isn’t one to bottle things up for too long. After spending a week analyzing his feelings, he’d decide to confess in a straightforward but warm way. Over coffee, he’d break the silence.

Zhanghao: “I need to tell you something, and I want you to know I’ve thought about it carefully. I think I’ve fallen for you. I know this changes everything, but you’re too important for me to not be honest.”

Being in love with Jiwoong is like something out of a fairytale. He is truly such a genuine and innocent person that your well-being and happiness is always his priority. And with those things in mind, it’s almost second nature for him to be domestic with you, at least, to the best of his abilities. Princess treatment to him is pampering you to the fullest and making you feel like you might as well be married to him already. Nights where he’s cooking while you’re sitting at the counter watching as he does his best to make you both a meal are a must. He’d have romantic jazz playing in the background and of course, he’s going to pour you a drink without you even having to ask. Jiwoong will do all the chores you don’t want to do: laundry, the dishes, etc. Even if you don’t live together yet, he’s constantly trying to show you why it would be such a great idea for you both to share a space. As if you don’t already know how great it would be, because he loves you more than anything else and wants to be around you all of the time.

only takes you on romantic dates

This version of princess treatment you weren’t even aware of until you were both lounging on the couch and Jiwoong says something along the lines of: “We haven’t gone on a date in a while”. And you look at him confused because you had just gone to Barnes & Noble together for practically a whole afternoon, only for him to say: “That’s not a real date”. Jiwoong only considers it a date if you’re being spoiled by going to a fancy restaurant or doing something romantic like having a picnic on the beach. While it’s nice to have little hang-outs now and then with him–going out to lunch together or running errands together, he genuinely will only have the best for you, and that includes thought-out and thoroughly planned romantic outings.

helps you get dressed

If you’re in a relationship with Jiwoong, he does not want you lifting a finger. While he’s sure you love having your independence, he can’t help but want to consistently do things for you. Including helping you get dressed. If you ask for his opinion on an outfit, he will give you it without sugarcoating. If you want him to pick out an outfit for you, he will be on his feet and picking out different things for you to try on and piece together with his help. But his favorite is without a doubt zipping up your dresses. Something about the small gesture is so intimate to him. The way he brushes your hair to the side and lets one hand rest on your waist while the other pulls the zipper up with him finally leaving a soft kiss on the nape of your neck… It makes him feel like he’s doing a good job caring for you. And the fact that you want him to do something that’s a part of your everyday routine, even if it’s getting dressed, genuinely makes him feel so included and involved with your life.

Getting princess treatment from the princess himself is the highest privilege you could receive as his girlfriend. And necessarily, the things he does as ‘Princess Treatment’ are things he just thinks any good partner would do. So when you come running to him with a craft on TikTok you want to try or a new place you want to visit, he’s never going to say no. I think that despite being an introvert he really does enjoy trying new things and his favorite thing to do would be to try new things with you. Even if he honestly doesn’t really want to / think it doesn’t sound fun in the beginning. There have been times when you’ve mentioned something you’ve done with Hao to the other members and they’ve been in shock that he was willing to do it with you despite him saying no to doing it with them the previous day. He may pretend to complain a little, but he will ultimately do anything to see you happy.

compliments all day every day

Hao has concluded that if you’re dating him, you must love attention as much as he does. You at least have to know that you’re just as pretty, if not more, as him. He wants to see you blossom, to see your confidence grow when you’re with him, so he gives you as much of his attention as possible–and that includes compliments upon compliments. They start small so he can get you used to receiving such a large amount in a day, but once you’ve gotten past the stage when you blush shyly and muster a small “Thank you”, he’s praising you in practically every sentence he speaks. Whether he's saying that you did something well, that he likes your hair that day, or randomly mentioning how funny or kind you are–he’s making sure you know how special you are. In fact, he’s started challenging himself to see how many synonyms of Beautiful he can use on you every day.

loves doing your makeup and skincare, lets you practice your makeup skills on him too

It’s no secret that Hao loves taking care of himself, making sure that he looks his best every day. So when you began dating him, you honestly weren’t super surprised that he extended that trait to you as well. You feel like his little doll at times, with the way that he’ll sit you on the bathroom counter in the mornings after you’ve brushed your teeth and gently push your hair back to do your skincare routine. He just wants the best for you–is what he claims as he buys hundreds of dollars worth of completely new products for you to use, saying that he knows what’s best for your skin and what will enhance your appearance the most. He’s right, of course. And if you ever tell him that you miss doing your makeup (jokingly, because who wouldn’t want him to do their makeup every day?), he’ll sit in front of you and have you do his makeup. Kind of a big deal! But even if it looks bad, he won’t tell you, because you’re his princess and he knows that you did your best :P

Everyone knows that Hanbin is the greenest flag of a man to walk this earth and when you started dating him, it was like you both completely skipped the dating stage and went right to being a married couple. He is so committed to you, it’s actually insane (once again, normal basis of a relationship, but it’s Hanbin so). I’m talking doesn’t even look at any other woman, spends the majority of his time with you, is talking about you to his parents–all of it. You are his future and he makes that clear to you. Sometimes you feel like you’ve already started along the path of becoming that rich wife who goes to pilates classes and has two well-behaved children and doesn’t have to lift a finger because with Hanbin and the way he takes care of you, marriage does seem like the only option. Your relationship is the most important thing to him, and he doesn’t hesitate to put it above everything and make sacrifices for it. Hanbin also always makes sure to check things with you first. Your opinions on his decisions matter because he already sees you as the person he wants to marry.

HUGE on flowers

When Hanbin asked you out, he brought you flowers. When you went on your first date, he brought you flowers. The day after your first date, he sent you flowers. You could honestly open a flower shop with how many bouquets he gives you on a weekly basis, not that you’re complaining. He’s the type to get you big bouquets for every date you guys go on and it’s a different flower every time. He knows your favorite flower of course, so even if the bouquet is a completely different flower than that, he’ll at least include one of your favorite flowers just because he wants to make sure that you know that he hasn’t forgotten. Hanbin also makes sure you know what each flower supposedly means, just because he thinks it’s cute. At some point, you have to ask him to tone it back a little, because he’s been getting you flowers every time he walks past a flower place and you’re worried about how much he’s spending on you. He’ll tell you not to worry because this little action he does is a way for him to express how much he loves you.

makes sure you’re safe 24/7

Your safety is something that’s always in the back of his mind. He knows you can protect and take care of yourself, but he thinks that you shouldn’t have to worry about that–that you should only be worried about what will make you happy. And you can leave everything else to him. I’m an enforcer of the ‘Hanbin buckles your seatbelt for you’ agenda because he loves taking care of people and I think that small things like that just make sense for him. It gives him peace of mind to know that you’ll be safe. The sidewalk rule is also another thing that he makes sure he does. He wants to eliminate any possibility of you being in danger and that includes watching your purse while you guys are at dinner to make sure nothing gets stolen, making sure your windows are locked before he leaves your apartment, always holding your drink, etc. Anything that may slip someone else’s mind will never get past Hanbin.

he’s the best active listener

It’s no secret that Matthew loves talking, so he knows how discouraging it can be when someone isn’t actually listening to you. And when you get comfortable around him, you don’t stop talking either. He wants you to feel comfortable, he doesn’t want that aspect to leave your relationship, so he never makes you feel bad or annoying for yapping. Matthew is genuinely happy that you feel like sharing things with him, even if it is your obscure little thoughts and he wants you to know that. He’s amazing at making you feel heard. He’s always asking small questions or making comments to show you that he was listening to everything you were saying. Even his body language–Matthew is nodding along and maintaining eye contact and actively reacting to your words. The point is, he wants to make it clear to you that your words do matter, and that you should feel comfortable talking his ear off.

has you both send little daily updates to each other

Both the updates he sends you and the ones he asks you to send him are for you. He wants you to know what he’s doing, not that you don’t trust him, but Matthew wants you to see that he’s constantly thinking about you. That you almost always have all of his attention. Plus, he likes receiving little comments from you about what he’s doing. He thinks it’s adorable. And then for you, he is truly interested in everything you do and wants to be involved. Matthew saves all of the pictures you send him (the ones you’re in) and has a little folder in his photos that’s reserved for your daily updates. Lowkey you both have separation anxiety, but he’ll never admit it. Matthew will just say that he’s giving you the attention that you deserve.

always is touching you when y’all are walking

Matthew likes physical affection and will take any scraps of touching you he can get. Including when you guys are just simply walking together. Holding your hand is nice, he likes the feeling of how small your hand is compared to his and it gets the point across to other people that you’re taken, but I think that there are other forms that he likes more. Honestly, I can see him wanting you to link your arm with his, making you feel like a princess while he carries your bags or something. He’s able to hold you closer to him and have a tighter grip on you that way as well. And he likes the feeling of you feeling up his arm even if you think that he doesn’t notice it :P He’ll guide you around with his hand on your lower back too. Steering you away from people who might get in your way and softly rubbing on the area to make sure you know that he’s there. Piggyback rides and literally just carrying you are things that he likes doing as well. In his opinion, you should be carried everywhere, so he’s happy to do so.

prioritizes you no matter what

Kind of already touched on this with Hanbin, but I feel like it fits Taerae so well. He always wants you to talk to him and feel comfortable with him because I feel like when he does fall in love and get to the point where he trusts them with everything, a lot of his life will revolve around you. Even if you don’t notice it, he’ll do all of these little things with you / for you / to you that he does for no one else, which shows how you’re the only thing on his mind. Whether that’d be clinging to you at all times, letting you talk even if he’s in the middle of explaining something, keeping the things you like and dislike in the front of his mind… Basically, his thoughts revolve around making sure you’re happy and comfortable whenever you’re with him. You always make sure that he’s both of those things, so it only makes sense that he makes you his top priority.

never lets you feel embarrassed

As mentioned before, I think that comfort is a huge part of any relationship Taerae is in. He has a hard time trusting people, so establishing that trust requires comfort and when he feels comfortable, the pampering for his partner is quick to follow. That being said, if there’s ever an instance where something happens to you in public, like you spilled something on Taerae that’ll stain or you let out an embarrassing noise, he WILL say that it was him and or cover for you. “Oh yeah, I spilled this on myself, I should be more careful”, “That was me! Sometimes my voice can get really high”, etc. He would do anything for you, and that includes maybe feeling a bit of embarrassment for you. As long as you’re okay, then he’s okay with doing anything. Sometimes he lovingly teases you, but all of his efforts are lighthearted, and if you ever appear embarrassed by his words, he’ll say that he was joking and that all of the words he’d said were made up. And god forbid someone else tries to embarrass you. Taerae has no problem with speaking up and calling people out, especially when it comes to you. He’s your number one defender and anyone that says anything bad about you or to you will end up being the humiliated one.

you’re his passenger princess

We’ve got our passenger princess victim. Willing victim, at that. Maybe I’m just obsessed with the fact that Taerae can drive, but him driving in Camp ZeroBaseOne lives rent-free in my head T-T Anyways… when you’re in his car, you’re not lifting a finger. Don’t bother with trying to open the car door, Taerae will do that for you happily, making sure you’re comfortable and your seat is the way you like it before he gets in the driver’s seat. Even before you get in his car, he’ll have already gone to get you a drink, and if it’s not the drink you wanted (which is rare because he has your drink order memorized), he’ll gladly go get you the drink you wanted no matter how much you protest. The aux is yours, he likes listening to your music more anyway, and he wants you to leave your things all over his car. Whenever anyone else gets in the passenger seat, they aren’t allowed to move your things around (hair clips, spare makeup, little knick knacks you’ve accidentally left, etc.) or Taerae will probably make them sit in the back. He wants to let everyone know he’s taken. In fact, you could probably carve your name into the passenger seat. Bro does not care!

Ricky is already a soft-spoken person around most people, but he usually gets louder when he’s with people he’s comfortable with / with his friends. And of course he has those moments with you, but usually, he’s treating you like you’re the most precious thing in the world. You bring out the side of him that feels the need to protect and take care of no matter your age or any other difference. He’s so so patient with you. Whenever you don’t understand something, no matter the scenario, he’ll take his time to explain it to you so you don’t feel left out, confused, or anything else. But he ALWAYS makes sure that you don’t feel like you’re bothering him by asking questions. He’s happy to help you and take care of you. And his friends have never seen him act the way he does with you around anyone else. Obviously, you are, and you never hesitate to tell him that, and he believes you, but he can’t help it sometimes. You know those TikToks where it’s the girl in the front of the video and her boyfriend’s standing behind her and everyone’s like “omg he’s literally your accessory”? Yeah, that’s Ricky. And the funny thing is, he’s so proud of it. He’s honored to be your “accessory,” even though you would never call him that. He insists that he’s there to make you look better, that you both look so good together that it’d be impossible for others to not look at you both and get just the tiniest bit jealous of your relationship.

Random acts of affection are important for him. They’re one of his favorite ways of showing you how much he loves you because I think Ricky is someone who believes that actions hold more meaning than words. It’s become routine for him to text you in the morning, telling you when he’s picking you up and how nice you should dress. He’s actually really good at planning things out. Ricky keeps track of when you’re free or knows what kind of date he should take you on / not take you on (how much time he has, if you have to be back for something, etc.) At first, you hated how he would surprise you with them, but eventually, you got used to it. And now, you look forward to whatever date he’s planned without the smallest amount of worry and the largest amount of trust. This ties in with Ricky’s love for being the one taking care of you, and he knows you, so he knows what activities you would enjoy and what you wouldn’t. You don’t have to lift a finger if Ricky can help it.

You get to see every side of Gyuvin and he gets to see every side of you. So in the moments where you don’t want to talk, needing to just sit in silence, he makes sure that you both enjoy those moments as well. And enjoying each other’s presence is so important to him. He knows it brings you a sense of peace, so he’s happy to hold you as you lay your head on his chest–scrolling on your phone or reading a book, or simply just laying there. Gyuvin can tell when you need to recharge your social battery, and therefore he’s gotten good at getting you out of situations so you can be by yourself. Or, more like be by yourself with him. He never forces you to talk to him or makes silence feel awkward. And if you don’t want to talk, but don’t want to sit in silence, he’ll just talk about random things for you to listen to. These quiet moments are important to you, but they’re also important to him, and he never hesitates to study your behavior and determine if that’s what you need right in that moment.

shopping sprees

I firmly believe that Gyuvin is the one who will take you on shopping sprees literally for fun (for him). He LOVES spoiling and spending money on you even if he doesn’t act like it. Whenever you mention you’re going shopping, he’s up on his feet in an instant and saying that he wants to come to keep you company. But then, when you actually start the shopping, he’s the one picking out clothes and jewelry and stuff for you. “Oh this would look so good on you” / “You don’t have to get it, I just want to see you try it on” / “We can keep some of these clothes with me if you don’t have the closet space”. It’s like the concept of money doesn’t exist to him when it comes to you, so be careful so much as even glancing at something because Gyuvin will be picking it up and carrying it around until it’s time to check out for you even if you insist you don’t want it. Sometimes he doesn’t even mean to get you so many things, he just thinks you look good in everything and anything and the rest of the world should be as blessed as him to see you in the clothing you try on. Also, he definitely gets you like 30 presents on your birthday.

Gyuvin has multiple albums in his photo app just for you: date nights, holidays, mornings, etc. He likes to go back and look at them and the pictures of you just make him so happy that he can’t help but want to share them with as many people as possible. Imagine how surprised you are when random Instagram stories or posts of you come up. You always think it’s the sweetest thing that Gyuvin wants to share your relationship with his friends through social media and that he wants to document some things in that way, but more often than not, they’re pictures you weren’t even aware he took. None of them are ever bad though? It’s a way to show you how he sees you through his eyes. The pictures are always so beautiful, and he tells you that he doesn’t even have to try to get such pretty photos–you’re just that naturally beautiful.

You being his girlfriend is one of Gunwook’s best achievements. And EVERYONE knows it too. The topic of you pops up at least once in every conversation he has, whether you’re there in person or not. He gets so proud of everything you do, no matter how big or small. In fact, you could literally wake up in the morning and he would deem that something to share with people. You can do no wrong in his eyes, and sometimes, he gets so excited over the fact that you’re his that he has to share it with people. His friends might get a little annoyed because of how often he talks about you, but he can’t help it :( He could talk about you and how amazing you are for hours and not get bored. Gunwook hasn’t told you about his love for bragging about you, but the way he looks at you when he prompts you to tell other people about the things you’ve achieved or done recently, you still get a good sense of how proud he is to be yours.

carries things around for you

This is in the sense of always having things like hair ties for you, extras of the perfume you wear in his bag, if you have some kind of medicine he has that in his bag too… It was a habit that slowly built as your guys’ relationship progressed. Gunwook would always hold things for you whenever you would go out on dates (your lipgloss) and eventually, his pockets weren’t enough for the things he would request to take from you to free up your hands to hold. So, he started carrying a bag around. It was helpful for him, sure, but he did it for you. Now, said bag is full of items that you might need on a day-to-day basis. Miniatures of your makeup, snacks that you like, everything mentioned before, and others! Gunwook loves carrying things around for you–it’s less for you to worry about and he enjoys taking care of you, even in the smallest ways.

lowkey is always matching his outfits with yours

Okay, I don’t know if this qualifies as princess treatment but… I can just see Gunwook asking you for an OOTD and then showing up in a similar outfit to yours, saying “woahhh that’s weird :3”. He loves matching with you in the smallest ways: matching jewelry, the same color scheme, the same style of pants, the same shoes. The list goes on. It’s a really easy way to let people know he’s taken and he thinks it’s just the cutest thing ever when you guys match. Matching outfits is a pretty common thing between couples and Gunwook just wants to do couple-things with you :( He’s always wanting to show you off that’s all and wanting to relate every part of his life with you. Also, the matching of the outfits happens unintentionally a lot too, which only makes him even more giddy.

You are the only girl to exist in his eyes and he makes that clear. Sometimes, you have to remind him that he can actually talk to other girls without one-word responses and looking like he’s about to cry. But he’s just such a loyal person and you receive the majority of that loyalty. Yujin’s talking to everyone about you and asking for help with anything that he doesn’t quite know how to do. He just wants to make you happy (“Hyung, what should I get YN for her birthday?” / “I found this cute place to take YN, what do you think?” >.<). Anywho, he also will most definitely let you know in every way that you’re the only one for him / the only one he’s interested in. Yujin doesn’t believe in talking stages, he’s the kind of boy who’s learned from the romcoms and will get straight to the point of telling you he likes you. Because if he likes you, then that’s kind of a big deal with him, and he’ll not want to keep anything from you.

subconsciously picks up after you / cleans up after you even if you try to help

Yujin is constantly following you around, like a second shadow, a puppy–whatever you want to call it. He copies your movements sometimes, but more often than that, he’s cleaning up after you. It’s become a second-nature kind of thing to him. If you leave a wrapper from a snack you’re eating on a counter, he’ll get up and throw it away for you without you even noticing. And if your room is a little messy and you both are hanging out, he’ll get up from your bed and just begin to put things away while he continues talking to you. It’s sweet the way he knows where everything goes and how you like your belongings. That doesn’t mean that you just let him pick things up for you, though. Obviously, you can take care of yourself and clean up your messes, but if Yujin is around, it’s rare for you to actually be able to help. In the beginning, you tried your best to insist on helping him pick up after you both had made a mess in your kitchen while baking, but instead of accepting your help, he’d told you to sit at the counter so he could still talk to you while he worked. Yujin just likes being helpful, and maybe a part of him wants to show you that he can take care of you too.

buys you anything you want

I feel like this is something he would learn from Gyuvin, but Yujin wouldn’t be as obvious about it. If you mention wanting something, he would act like you were begging him to get it for you (“Are you really gonna make me get this for you?” / “I can’t keep buying things for you, YN”) even though you hadn’t even said anything about even buying it in the first place. Much less having him purchase it for you. Literally gives the “fine, *eye roll*, whatever” energy, but in a teasing way. Yujin doesn’t like making things easy for you, one of his love languages is teasing, but in the end, he wants to make you happy. And that includes the little things and pampering you by getting you small gifts. This treatment is most common with food or drinks. He would get you a snack before seeing you and then pretend that it was completely a coincidence: “They just happened to have your favorite drink at the vending machine too. Super weird” even though there’s only one convenience store that has that beverage so you know he went out of his way to get it for you :,)

we all know how much jiwoong loves and appreciates having a dog in his life. it’s his little companion, so, during their world tour and he went shopping with matthew to a local market, he found a keychain that slightly reminded him of his dog, so he decided to buy it.

since then, he’s been keeping it with his keys and he froze when he saw how the keychain was apparently gone. his first thought was a burglary, but he dismissed it when he realised nothing else from his set of chains was missing. only the keychain.

“hey, y/n, have you seen my keychain?” he asked when he came inside his room, seeng as you were lying on his bed.

“don’t you have it in your hands right now though?”

“i meant the dog keychain” he made emphasis on the word dog, becoming a little bit impatient when a glint caught his eye.

smugly, he walked towards where you were lying, quickly pecking your lips, leaving you stunned by the randomness of his act. still frozen, you saw him walk away, holding the keychain with his hand as he had seen it behind you, when you faintly hear him say “you play again like this and you’re not seeing my dog for the next 4 months”

with a giggle, you rapidly walked to the bedroom’s door seeing him walking away facing you, smiling at your antics.

“i promise not to when you promise me you’ll get one similar for me!”

“you got it beautiful” he winked at you before disappearing from the dorm.

it had been less than 5 months when hanbin decided to get you both promise rings as, after 4 years of relationship, he was sure there was not going to be anyone else in his life but you.

he had bought it as a surprise for your 4th anniversary and he had been wearing it ever since, well not always. when he performs on stage, besides having to wear the outfit and accessories his stylist chose, but he doesn’t wanna run the risk of exposing you both.

so, when he came home after a tiring day of pre-recording, he found it odd that you rushed him into the shower, but paid no attention to it. while you heard the water running, you took the chance to hide his ring, which was patiently waiting for its owner in his nightstand, in your pocket.

while rubbing the towel on his wet hair, he made his way to his wardrobe and after throwing on a comfy hoodie and his pyjama pants, he made an attempt to reach for where the ring should have been, only to find the black surface empty.

“oh no..” he muttered

“why? what’s wrong han?”

“i..i might have lost the promise ring. i promise i left it here this morning! maybe one of the guys too-yeah it was probably matt-but he wouldn’t do that he knows how much it means to me. he wouldn’t do it-“

“hey hey hanbin” you interfered when you realised his panic state. it surely wasn’t the reaction you were expecting “i’m sorry i wanted to joke around a bit but now i feel so bad..” you said in barely a whisper, holding out your hand with his ring.

“oh so it’s here! i didn’t lose it thank god” he sighed while taking you in his arms “i’m really sorry hannie..” “it’s okay but maybe you need to tone it down a little bit. a plushy or something but never! never this ring. it means too much for me”

“..you’re kinda making me feel wor-“ “OH MY GOD i’m so sorry i’ll shut up now” he kissed the top of your forehead and you stood trapped in his arms for a while, until yujin yelled for help with the on-going fight for the control of the tv remote.

zanghao - his violin bow

you were in a rush, and not in a “i have to run down the street” tye of a rush. you were trying to mischievously hide the bow of your boyfriend’s violin however, you were still stuck on where to hide it.

it had been days since you felt you had spent some proper quality time with hao, always busy with his packed schedule, and when he got home he practiced with his violin, leaving you all by yourself in the living room. you were fed up with it so you decided to take a part of his instrument in hopes that he’d finally notice his girlfriend.

still deep in thought, you heard a strange noise behind the door and later on you heard how someone was just opening the door. that someone was zanghao.

running to the furthest room from the door, you tried to hide the bow in the kitchen but, where?

“y/n! i’m home” you could hear from the living room.

worried about being caught, you decided to climb the counter to be able to reach the top shelf. what you didn’t have in your plans was, though, wearing socks. the moment you tried to stabilize yourself you slipped from the polished counter and while you felt your life slipping off your fingers, you felt two strong arms grab you.

just like in a movie, zanghao effortlessly helped you step on the floor, and before you could run away from embarrassment, he grabbed your wrist.

“you better have a good excuse for risking your life like that y/n.” was how his scolding started. he wasn’t very harsh with his words but you got the message loud and clear, he was just worried about the possibility of you ever getting hurt when he’s not around.

“i just..i’ve seen you act differently towards me these days because you were too focused with rehearsals and your violin so i tried to hide the bow..” you trailed off, head hung low, embarrassed to admit that you were jealous of a lifeless object.

“and it takes you risking YOUR LIFE to tell me?? you’re stupid” he said while grabbing your chin, making you look up at him “my stupid though. come on, let’s order food and catch up. by the way, you try any risky activity of this type again and i’m ending you before you have a chance yourself”

“i love you too, i guess?” you replied, making him giggle at how fast you could read between his words.

seok matthew - his microphone

it wasn’t an object that he often used, so when you organised a sleepover at your house with some friends, you decided to give it a good use and just place it where it initially was without anyone noticing.

however, today luck wasn’t on your side because matthew decided to sing a couple of ballads to you specifically, when he saw his mic wasn’t in the cupboard of the living room. in fact, it wasn’t in the dorm.

“y/nnnn. what did you do with the mic?” he asked with a hint of curiosity

“what do you mean? what mic-oh. isn’t it in the cupboard?” you wondered as you vividly remembered how you had left it there.

“it isn’t around the dorm at all. i’ve asked the guys and they have no clue. now tell me, where is it? have you hidden it??” he teased, having fun with your clueless “act”.

“no matt i swear i left it there in the cupboard”

“so you did take it!” he said, your silence to the response, assuring his prior statement.

“no ballads for you then” he declared, though when he saw you had no clue what he meant, he elaborated “i was going to sing you a couple of ballads with the mic, but as it’s apparently gone, there’s no ballads for you!”

“noo matt why are you so mean?!”

“bring me back my mic and we’ll talk about it. until then, no more ballads. or pop songs. NO MORE SINGING UNTIL I GET IT BACK”

even if he made you promise to not tell anybody, he did end up singing those ballads to you, regardless of the whereabouts of the microphone.

when you went back home, you realised it was on the sofa and you sent a photo to matthew, promising to bring it back the next day you meet.

kim taerae - his favourite book

it was another tranquil evening at your apartment where you were spending some time with your boyfriend and your little cousin, as your parents had to be the one taking care of the toddler but as soon as you told them tae was coming over, they left you the house for both of you.

taerae had just excused himself to go to the bathroom, leaving his book where he was sitting, when your cousin, who took the chance he had left, decided to hide tae’s book.

you were so lost in thought you couldn’t realise your cousin not paying attention to the tb characters anymore and her high-pitched giggles around the whole room.

when taerae came back, he found your little cousin sitting where he was before, and he quickly panicked thinking how she could have sat on his book. when he realised it wasn’t possible, with almost a whisper, he talked to the little girl.

“hello pretty. are you enjoying this episode?” when she nodded her head, he tenderly patted it with his left hand and added “i was wondering if you know where my book is? i left it here where you’re sitting right now, but it’s now gone”

“a book? no idea. you should maybe ask y/n!” she answered taerae with a giggle.

“oh i see..” and with a stronger voice he said “y/n! care to tell me where my book is?” he asked innocently while approaching you.

“what? it’s now where you left it?” you said absentmindedly, and taerae took it as a sign you were hiding it from him. with a long step, he leaned forward and started ticking you, asking for his book back.

“i…swear i..don’t know..where..it is!” you yelled in between laughs. while taerae didn’t let you get away from his grasp, your cousin silently went to look for the book, and when she came back, she jumped on taerae’s back “taerae live my cousin alone!! it’s here. your book is here see? now live her alone!” she stated, leaving you both quite startled with her confession.

he carefully put her down and when he looked at her, with her furrowed eyebrows because of the annoyance of him bothering you, he said to her “i’ll give you 3 seconds before you end up like your cousin”

and with that, all you could hear were screams and yells and constant footsteps from both, as your cousin was now fighting for her life or more figuratively, to not open the giggling box.

shen ricky - his black card

for you, taking ricky's black card wasn't a joke anymore, it was a challenge. you knew your boyfriend was the son of consumerism, always buying things and normally for everyone but him. you knew he could afford all of it, this lifestyle, but you wanted to see how long he could last without making any purchase at all.

the days kept passing though, and you hung out with ricky, you even went on dates, and everything was normal. he could still pay for things which made you think that it was possible that his dad gave him his own card, or maybe another one to use.

on a friday evening, away from his schedule, you decided to go on a fancy restaurant as you both were in new york because of your jobs. wobbling your leg, you felt more impatient as the time passed and it felt like a bomb was ticking inside your head. a bomb ticking to explode with the truth.

"so ricky, have you noticed something strange this week? or this month?" you said when you couldn't keep the secret anymore.

"..no? why though. was there something i needed to notice? has something happened? are you alright?" he asked preoccupied, holding your hand across the table.

"no no i'm fine. it's just that i don't know if you noticed that your black card was missing" you smiled at him feeling like a 5-year-old apologising to their parents.

he stood there unfaced and then, he only reacted "it's fine i just did a new one. can i know why you took it though?"

you blinked at him, not expecting him to dismiss it that fast "i just wanted to know how much you could last without buying anything"

the conversation between you continued as normal, skipping the fact of you hiding his own card from him.

"so..you pay for today right? i am kinda without a card because someone decided to take it.." he teased you when the waiter walked over to your table with the receipt. before you could take it seriously, he had already placed his new card on top of the table.

kim gyuvin - his funko pop

it had been a few days since you mentioned gyuvin his funko pop, curious about the importance of the toy to him. everytime you asked him the question 'what would you do if someone took your funko?' he first asked back 'do i see them taking it?'. when you replied with a no, he stated 'then i would open a police investigation' he said without a second thought.

trying to dare him, you decided to place it somewhere else around the dorm (yujin kept it in his drawer). when you both went to his room for some peace and quiet time together and he realised his treasure wasn't there, he turned around slowly.

he knew it was weird enough you had been asking him about his limited edition funko for the past week but it disappearing? something was definitely fishy.

now facing you, he wrapped his arms around you and just stood there embracing your figure. "so.. are you letting me go or you got a new idea of cuddling to show to the world?" you joked around however, when you felt him strengthening his grip around you, you whined and told him "gyu just let me gooo"

he shaked his head as a no, and then said "not until you tell me where the funko is"

let's just say you didn't jump out of the window because that involved both of you jumping. thatboy refused to let you go until you showed him (practically showing it in front of his face) that his funko was safe and sound.

park gunwook - his chapstick

you don't know how many times you had asked gunwook to let you try his chapstick but he took his hygiene and the wellbeing of his skin too seriously, so he never let you try his, always telling you how he would buy the same one for you.

tired of that day never arriving, as it had been about 6 months from his promise, when you knocked on the door of his dorm and hanbin received you, saying how he still had about 5 mins. to arrive, you already know what to do.

what you didn't plan, though, was how long you were going to take to identify it. as he took his skincare very seriously, you may have forgotten how he actually owned about 40 to 50 chapsticks. just seeing the full drawer made your head spin, not knowing how to reference them between each other.

you tried to rummage through it (and put an order to it while you were at it), classifying them based on their colours. just when you were choosing based on the scent between the last four, gunwook walked inside his room, already knowing you were there because hanbin told him.

"sorry sorry i'll make it up to you kay?" he said while grabbing your hand and pulling you towards the entrance door of the dorm.

"where are we going?" you wondered, not expecting your boyfriend to answer as he loved to surprise you.

"to buy yours. duh. i promised it to you and it's been way to long" he kissed the back of your hand, still holding it on his, as a gesture of apologising for taking too long to fulfill his promise.

if there was one thing that drove you up the wall, it was the unnecessary times when your boyfriend used his airpods to annoy you while you were talking and pretending not to talk to you.

yujin is known for his playful personality but sometimes it got unbearable to feel alright when once a week, he made you feel like a burden by using his airpods.

sick and tired, you decided to talk to gyuvin to help you with the situation. you received a solution, although not what you expected. gyuvin told you to prank him back, plain and simple. he even said he'd help you with it.

that's how yujin's airpods ended up under gyuvin's pillow, in gyuvin's room, where gyuvin had  had strictly prohibited yujin from the entrance.

yujin's wittiness had helped him find out you had taken them from him and he knew you wouldn't take them somewhere he would have access. and that was the problem. he tried to talk it out with gyuvin, telling him how he would fix things with you and would never do it again but seeing how he didn't even bulge, he decided to use his plan b: blackmailing.

when he decided to innocently ask you for them, acting as he had no clue you had taken them away from him, he said “oh so you might not know here they are..guess there’s no facetiming while playing roblox until they appear”

"i know but i can't just put the phone in speaker in the middle of the night, it would bother the others"

you did, in fact, end up asking gyuvin to give them back because yujin had become insufferable enough to threaten you to kick you out of the dorms (jokingly, of course). then he shared his snacks with you while you two played together, pretending he was too full from what he had eaten with the members (spoiler: he had eaten some french fries) because he felt sorry for taking the payback a little too far.

after the deep conversation you two had, he surely wasn't going to repeat the scenario of the airpods. he would find something else to bother you with though, you could be sure of that.

It was ridiculous, honestly. Your heart only acted up because Matthew was nice. He was sweet to everyone, not just you. Surely, you’d get over this stupid infatuation soon. But the more you tried to ignore it, the worse it got.

It was all his fault. Seriously. Because how were you not supposed to swoon whenever he grinned at you? You felt like a complete fool, getting all giddy like a lovesick teenager when Matthew probably didn’t even notice. He was just being friendly, right? That’s what best friends do!

But there were moments. Little moments. That made you question this. Like that one time, when you went to get coffee before an exam, and he’d taken your cold hands in his, lifted them closer to his mouth, and pressed his lips against them to warm them. Maybe you liked Matthew just as a friend. Maybe you were immune to his charm. But if that were true, then why did you look at him like you wanted to kiss the life out of him? And why did you turn bright red whenever his hand brushed against yours, as though a mere touch was enough to set your whole world on fire? So many questions in his head, each more perplexing than the last. He felt like he almost had the answers, but then a creeping doubt would settle in—what if he was just reading too much into it?

The more he tried to make sense of your reactions, the more tangled his thoughts became. The way you laughed at his jokes no matter how lame they were, the way you leaned in unconsciously when you spoke to him, and the way your hands would idly reach up to his hair and play with it—it all seemed like more than mere friendship to Matthew. But the thought that he was just seeing what he wanted to see haunted him.

It didn’t take long for your friends to catch on, too. And God, were they annoying about it. Hao would peer at you and Matthew over the top of his glasses, face scrunched up in utter disgust whenever you two shared even the briefest interaction. A smile? Cue the exaggerated eye roll.

Gyuvin and Ricky weren’t any better, making it a point to cough obnoxiously loud whenever Matthew was trying to speak to you.

It was like being under constant surveillance by a team of over-the-top drama queens.

Gunwook, though, was the real menace. He’d lean in to give Matthew a hug and end up “accidentally” pushing him toward you, sending you both crashing to the ground in a tangle of limbs. And yet, despite the chaos, neither of you seemed annoyed. If anything, you both secretly enjoyed the feeling of being in each other’s arms, touches lingering just a little longer. And though you’d never admit it, your friends knew. They’d just watch you and Matthew smile at each other with knowing smirks.

Yujin took things to an entirely new level. He’d let out a loud, dramatic gasp whenever your hand brushed against Matthew’s, throwing his hands over his eyes like he’d seen the most scandalous thing ever.

And Jiwoong—this guy had a knack for trickery. Somehow always convincing you and Matthew to wear matching clothes or accessories without either of you realizing, until the boys saw you.

The moment you’d walk in with Matthew, both of you wearing an item of the same color or print, they would erupt into cheers, saying that you two were “basically a married couple now.”

Taerae would then start singing a sad ballad, dragging out every note as much as possible, while wiping fake tears from his eyes, while Hao, Ricky, and Gyuvin would start coming up with baby names. The teasing was relentless.

Hanbin was the only normal one among you. The one beacon of sanity. If anything, he probably felt more embarrassment than you or Matthew ever did. While everyone took a chance to push you two together, Hanbin would just watch from afar, arms crossed, head shaking in disappointment. And when he noticed that you and Matthew actually enjoyed the teasing? Oh, that made it even worse.

Like that one time at a café. The whole group was seated, enjoying their drinks, when Gyuvin decided to be, well, Gyuvin. “Kiss her! Kiss her!” he chanted loudly, just because you’d taken a sip of Matthew’s drink. And of course, the others immediately jumped in, some even banging their fists on the table like they were at a sports game rather than a quiet café. They yelled louder and louder, forgetting about the innocent people around who were probably annoyed by the chants. Hanbin, as usual, just stood off to the side, pretending not to know any of you. His face was buried in his hands as the barista shot your group a death glare. The inevitable happened: you were all kicked out. And Hanbin, red-faced and mortified, sighed deeply as he trailed behind the rest of you.

But nothing could compare to the stunt they’d pulled just now. You and Matthew had cluelessly stepped into the elevator, like you always did, only for it to break down while you two were trapped inside.

“Shit, what do we do now?” you asked, pressing the buttons on the elevator with urgency.

Matthew wrapped his hand around your wrist and gently pulled you toward him. “Don’t worry, it’s probably just the boys playing another prank,” he said softly.

You relaxed at his words. Ricky probably paid someone to do this—at least, you hoped. You went to stand beside Matthew, leaning on the cold elevator wall next to him.

After a few moments of comfortable silence, you rubbed your temple and said, “Honestly, they’ve lost all sense of shame.”

Matthew chuckled at your words and turned to face you. “You know, maybe we should just save them the trouble and go out.”

You cocked an eyebrow at him, but the grin on your face gave your feelings away. Matthew’s hands were immediately on your hips, pulling you toward him.

The others waited with bated breath, hoping you’d be stuck long enough for something to happen, hoping this would finally force you two to make a move. And it worked. The air fills with Taerae’s soft strums on his guitar as he plays a song he had recently written. You halt at the doorway, eyes training on his back as you watch him with a lovesick smile on your face.

Maybe it is the dim lights, his bare face with his usual glasses, his deep, melodic voice, or possibly everything else that makes you stare at him like a whipped teen with her first crush.

When Taerae’s shirt shifts a little as he adjusts the guitar you get a weird idea in your mind, giggling softly and then slapping yourself lightly for being so head over heels for him.

Slowly sneaking behind him you stand for a while, basking in the scent that is so him, before you sneak an arm around his waist earning a surprised gasp from him. You giggle softly seeing a red hue cover his ears as he says, “When did you get here?”

“A while ago,” you murmur as you nuzzle your face in his neck and press a feather-light kiss on his neck. You feel Taerae stiffening, lightly tripping on his words before his composure is back and he laughs.

The deep laugh vibrates off his body into yours as he says, “This is new, anything good happened?” You shake your head against his shoulder and quickly peck his neck again before he can talk more. Taerae hums visibly unfazed by your second attack as you stare at him with narrow eyes.

You peck him again and again, all over his neck knowing he can’t keep up his unflustered state for long but as you are going in for the seventh peck Taerae turns his head and presses his lips to yours taking you by surprise.

Your eyes widen as you blink, unable to kiss back and Taerae’s lips are gone as soon as they come. A smirk slowly makes its way into his face as he grins, his cavernous dimples glistening in the low lights. You feel flustered at his stare as he asks, “So when exactly were you back?”

You blink at him, brain not comprehending what he asked and Taerae bites back a smile as he sees you. Intertwining his fingers with yours, a small breath leaves your throat as you reply finally, “A while back.”

“Okay, good,” he hums as he pulls you into his lap, resting the guitar on his other leg and says, “Then I get to kiss you all I want.” Your face heats up and you slap his chest lightly making him grin, “What? You were having fun kissing my neck just a while back!”

“Shut up,” you groan and he smiles saying, “I will,” and presses his lips to yours.

a/n. initially had a ricky halloween fic and i didn’t like it BUT i wanted to write another fic for zb1 so here u guys go ~ ALSO i didn’t proofread this so please tell me if there are any typos or grammar issues!! ><

you got employed at a theme park for halloween, you expected nothing different from the usual, dark night, full of masked people dressed up as monsters. what you didn't know was that part of the job was; surviving the night with a cute boy. you never minded working with guys but he was different, he was your type. he, who was called han yujin, looked like a bunny, was shy, and very polite. the only thing that almost made you decline was that the shift was from 7PM to 12AM, it was gonna be a long night.

you patiently waited for yujin to get dressed in his uniform and fix his hair. “so, before you let the people go, you have to pull on their safety belts and make sure it can’t move. once you’re sure they can move, just wait for me and i’ll press the button.” for every word, he demonstrated an action to match what he was saying.

when the first wave of people came in, you started getting nervous. you never liked displaying your emotions so no one needed to comfort you, but it was as if yujin could read through you. “hey, don’t worry, you’ll do fine.” he smiled. it warmed your heart when you realized that he noticed how you were feeling, you smiled back at him with a small chuckle.

you attempted to lift the belts, then once all were secured, you walked back and waited for yujin to finish his part. “you can press it if yours are secured.” you said, and yujin let them go.

while the audience zoomed off, you and yujin chatted. “so you're here every year?” you asked yujin. “mhm, my school funds this a little so i think it's good to do it every year.” he explained, while simultaneously maintaining perfect eye contact with you. “what school do you go to?” you didn’t know that a school funded this, even if it was only a bit. “Zerose High, what about you?” “i go to Zerose High, too. its weird, i haven’t seen you before.” you were confused to say the least, how come you hadn’t seen him before if you were the same age and went to the same school? “i hang out with seniors, maybe that’s why.” he sighed, “by the way, you’re really pretty.” the confession caught you off guard. sometimes, students at school would confess to you and it made you seriously uncomfortable. but it was odd. everything yujin did, you never felt awkward around him. “t-thank you,” you stuttered. you felt a warmth spread across your cheeks. “you’re cute, too.” you said, truthfully. he became shy after your compliment, it wasn’t like you were saying it to say it, and he must’ve realized you weren’t just complimenting him. you really did think he was cute.

the both of you continued your night together, always chatting between the rides like it was a tradition, slowly becoming closer within your five hour shift.

before you both left the park, you saw a photo booth. you got into the booth with yujin, your bodies basically glued to each other with the limited space. the two of you flashed silly poses, making hearts together, and whatever you could think of within the ten seconds. you couldn’t ever predict what yujin would’ve done. as you posed for your third box, yujin’s hand had found its way onto your waist, gently holding you closer. when the last box came, yujin wrapped his arm around your back, bringing you to face him and softly kissed you. endless thoughts galloped through your mind, why was he kissing you? why did it feel so natural? you couldn’t find any answer.

your hand felt magnetized to yujin’s hair, you played with it while the camera took a picture. once the camera snapped a frame, it printed out the picture, which you would cherish as your best memory forever. yujin pulled away from you, his face flushed with red.

“i like you a lot, y/n.”

i suppose working until midnight was worth it…
