“Hey, Nerd!” You met Clay at your locker, and he greeted you by pecking your lips which brought a huge grin to your face.
“Really? Nerd? How about babe, or honey maybe? I thought we were past that ‘you calling me nerd phase’.”
“Oh Jensen, come on you know how much I love calling you Nerd and don’t tell me you don’t love that too. So, I am going to pass on your offer” you patted his cheeks and gave him a sweet kiss.
Well, Clay could not agree more. He liked it when you called him by those nicknames, but he was just trying to act like a normal couple. He decided not to argue further and held your hand as you both walked together to your first class.
This was the best thing in your relationship with Clay; you can be you. You can be honest with him; you can be yourself and you still got to roast each other and be sarcastic without a hint of judgment. This was nothing like what you felt with Zach, with Zach you had this urge to be the perfect girl because Zach was one of the most popular guys in school and there were no less jealous prying eyes on you. With Clay, you can be free and confident.
When you broke the news of your hot passionate night with Clay to Jessica, she could not be happier to know about you two, she felt like a proud mom.
It had been a month and you never felt this happy since the winter break. Your scores improved, and all your teachers were happy, you filled out your college applications for your top favorite colleges. With Clay being one of the most important highlights of your life, it felt like a cherry on top.
The basketball tournament was near which meant that you had to work harder every day after school, and now that your exams were done you decided to focus on your game because you needed that sports scholarship to get into the ivy college of your choice.
This meant that you could not focus enough on your relationship with Clay, but you always found a way to balance both. Sometimes, he came to pick you up after practice, sometimes you showed up at his place when his parents were out and sometimes you both took a walk up to the cliff and just sat there enjoying the city view.
Most of the time you fell asleep on Clay’s shoulders and when you did, Clay would kiss on top of your head and wrap his hands around you so that you don’t feel cold.
That day the practice was going to be longer than usual, and you told Clay to not wait up till late for you at night. You said your goodbyes to Jess and Clay and went to the gym with Justin. You changed into your practice clothes and tied your hair in a simple bun so that they don’t interrupt you while playing.
The practice was tiring every day but today, it was brutal. The coach made you do twenty laps and then the abdominal exercises to strengthen the core muscles. Then you finally got to play the game and if all that was not enough, he asked you to do a couple more laps and finish the day with stretching.
Before you started stretching you were a bit dehydrated and realized that you forgot your water bottle at the gym, so you went into the gym and drank water from your bottle, and sat for a while to relax.
Until you finished your stretching regime, most of the guys already left as they didn’t take it very seriously but you on the other hand took your after-practice stretching extremely seriously to avoid having sore muscles afterward.
You changed into your fresh dry clothes and went to the gym to grab your things. All you wanted was a long hot bath in your bathtub, just the thought of it was comforting to you and you felt so sleepy which was unusual. You did feel tired after practice every day, but this felt exceptionally weird.
You were just packing up your things and saw Bryce entering from the door. Honestly, you were skeptical but not scared of him. You just packed your things and walked up straight to the door. As you were going you walked past Bryce with a subtle smile on your face, you grasped as you felt a tight grip on your wrist.
...
Bryce grabbed your wrist and slammed you against the wall keeping you between both his hands. You tried to push him off as he was reducing the gap between you two. Your bodies were brushing against each other. You pushed him hard, and he held one of his hands against your neck pinning you to the wall. You felt your throat constrict as he put more force against your throat almost choking you. His other hand pinned you against the wall.
Your eyes were full of tears as you felt helpless. You struggled to breathe and could not gather much strength to push him off. You could see your fear in the reflection of his dreadful eyes. Those sinful green eyes looked straight at you with an evil grin on his face, there was no guilt in his eyes. It was like whatever he was doing was right. He came closer to you mounting his six feet body over your short body.
“Come on baby, we are just having some fun together. It is not my fault that you looked so hot today. Running in those shorts showing off your perfect ass.” Even his words creeped you out.
“I am with Clay asshole, leave me alone!” you demanded while struggling to speak.
“Oh, is that scrawny little shit enough to satisfy you huh?” he came closer and whispered right into your ear “I’ll let you have so much more fun. Trust me you will be satisfied”.
“His name is Clay Jensen; don’t you dare say anything about my boyfriend, dick.”
You gathered all the force left in you and kicked his crotch. As soon as you were released by his grip you started running straight towards the door, but Bryce recovered soon from the kick and pulled you back on the ground. He climbed over you and started taking his joggers off. It was then that you heard the door and saw Zach entering. Zack sprinted towards you and pushed Bryce off you.
...
“Oh, come on Zachy, let’s have some fun together now that you’re here too. She never let you have sex with her right? Come let’s show her how real men are.”
“You are so pathetic, Bryce! Get off her,” Zach yelled at him.
He carried you in his arms as you passed out after that. The last thing you remember was Zach pushing Bryce off you. You woke up in a familiar bedroom, but it wasn’t yours. You were in Zach’s bed lying with the blanket tucked around your body. You woke up in a panic and saw Zach sitting on the chair in his room. He brought all his attention toward your confused look. You had so many questions in your mind like what happened with Bryce? Did he do something? Why did you feel so dizzy? And more importantly, how did you end up in Zach’s bed?
You felt weak, and couldn’t understand why. Zach told you how he fought Bryce and why he brought you to his place rather than yours.
“Um…Your mum isn’t cool about you being in sports and stuff and I thought if she got to know what happened she might even forbid you from playing. So, I thought that I’ll bring you here instead.”
“Why am I feeling so weak and sleepy? It’s not usual?”
“I…uh needed some water so I thought to drink it from your bottle as I didn’t want to leave you alone. But You must not have noticed this, there was some sort of drug added to the water, and maybe that is why you felt so feeble. But I promise I did not do anything other than putting you to bed and Bryce couldn’t do anything either I um… I was there on time. You’re safe,” said Zach with reassurance in his tone.
You felt speechless, you were just replaying the whole scenario in your head, and it was horrible. Your face went pale, and you looked emotionless. You didn’t know what to say to him. Thousands of thoughts were running into your mind, but you couldn’t say anything. You’ve never felt this way before not even after your first encounter with Bryce.
“I called your mom and told her you had some doubts so you’re studying with me and Clay has been texting you repeatedly, you should probably text him back,” said Zach breaking the ominous silence in the room.
You looked at him and our vision was blurred with the tears forming in your eyes, noticing your tears Zach walked up to you and held both your hands to comfort you “Hey, it’s gonna be okay…” You cut him off and pushed his hands off you, “Don’t touch me!” you yelled at him and stood up to leave his place.
You turned towards him and shrieked “You expect me to thank you, Zach? When all of this is your fault, he tried to have sex with me even when you and I were dating.”
Zach looked surprised and you told him all about what Bryce tried to do earlier. Till Zach could comprehend all this you said, “You think I don’t know about your stupid dare of who gets to hook up with Y/N first?”
Zach was shocked as if you were not supposed to know anything about that dare.
“Yeah, Justin told me after you broke up with me and I wasn’t happy enough to be relieved that I was free from your trap. Seriously Zach? It was not expected from you and now you come to my rescue like a fucking hero. Who’d you think you are?”
“Y/N listen to me that was a stupid dare, and I did not date you because of a dare, I liked you, a lot. It was all when you came into the school, and you were a new girl and all.”
“You expect me to believe that after all that’s happened? And you know what I don’t even want to talk about it, I don’t want to talk about anything to anyone and you dare not mention this incident to anyone and I think you’ll do a great job at it as you’re good with dares and all” You raged at him and picked up your stuff and left.
You could hear Zach trying to say something, but you didn’t care enough, you didn’t care about anything or about anyone. You reached your home, locked yourself in your bedroom and curled up on the bed, and cried your eyes out. You felt awful and you never wanted to step into that shitty school and look at that asshole ever again.

Don’t Do This To Me
Tumblr media
Summary: Your future no longer includes Justin.
Warnings: Angst, Mention of sex
Word Count: 706
Characters: Justin Foley
Tumblr media
You knocked on Clay and Justin’s door before walking in. Clay was in the middle of scolding Zach and Justin for throwing grapes on his bed like a toddler. Once Justin saw you his face beamed, He stood walking up to you his hands immediately grabbing yours.
Tumblr media
“Hey Y/N you weren’t answering my texts.” He said his smile remaining.
“Guys can you give us a few minutes?” As you said it, Justin rose a eyebrow as his head tilted.
“Oh yeah…sure.” Said Clay.
Tumblr media
“Yeah give us a few minutes.” Said Justin exchanging glances with everyone. Zach lifted himself off the floor and gave you a nod as he left. Clay slowly walked out as if there were land mines on the floor, He gave Justin one last glance before he left.
Tumblr media
“We need to talk.” You said as you took a seat next to him on his bed, Justin threw his legs over the side.
“Babe is everything okay?” He asked his eyebrows drawn together as he looked over you carefully.
Tumblr media
“Justin…”
The concern he had changed to dread, You took a deep breath. “I can’t be with you anymore.”
He swallowed hard as the color drained from his face. “W-Why?”
You and Justin had been dating for over two months. You both finally had sex for the first time. “Wait…” He said as he lowered his head his neck disappeared. “Was….Was I not good?”
Tumblr media
“J-Justin…?” she said her mouth agape and her gaze flat. “This has nothing to do with sex.”
“Than…what the fuck is it?” He asked his chin beginning to tremble.
“You know why.” You said sternly. You waited for him to speak but he didn’t. “Please don’t lie to me Justin.”
He was silent, You watched as his shoulders dropped his arms losing all strength. “I…I relapsed…okay…I am trying to-“
Before he could finish you interrupted him. “Justin you have been trying for a long time…I don’t want to wait anymore.” As you said this you’re voice broke.
“I know… okay I know! Y/N I know I’m a lot sometimes I know I’ve let you down-“
Once again you interrupted him. “Justin I have been accepted by another college.”
His eyes widened. “But you got accepted to Wentworth because it was close to me.”
“Justin I applied to different colleges.” You said feeling guilt overtake you.
“I can’t…I can’t accept…this I won’t accept it. ! This is bullshit! You know how much I love you!” As his voice was and his eyes began to fill with tears, you stood him following.
“You have no choice!” You shouted, This seemed to startle him.
“Just a night ago…just a night ago you were telling me you loved me! You were telling me to go deeper, harder! Now suddenly that means nothing to you?”
“You keep ignoring the “You” doing drugs part.”
“I’ve…I’ve never loved anyone more than you.”
“What about Jess?” You asked your extremities shaking.
“Yes! Yes more than I ever ever loved Jess! Please don’t fucking do this to me!” He begged as he reached out to you.
“I’m not Jessica!” You yelled out.
“What the fuck are you getting at?!” He yelled back tears finally dripping down his cheeks and down to his chin.
“I’m not coming back.”
“What are you even saying?” He asked confusion consuming his face.
“I’m moving…”
“What the fuck…Y/N there has to be more to this.” He sobbed. “If it’s Jess I don’t even talk to her much I’ll ignore her completely!”
“Justin I’ve always supported you getting clean but you relapsed and didn’t tell me even though it was so obvious.”
“…I was scared…okay.”
“I’m not enough for you.”
“What?! You’re everything to me!” He cried out as he shook uncontrollably.
“If I was you wouldn’t shoot up heroin!” You yelled back. Tears trickled down his pained expression with eyes that clouded.
“Y/N please I love you please don’t leave me. I promise I’ll get it right this time.” He sobbed wiping away tears. “Don’t do this to me!”
Tumblr media
“…Goodbye Justin…” you said avoiding eye contact. You turned heel as you made your way to the door you could hear him whimpering and sobbing. He didn’t see it but now you’re face was soaked in tears.

me and you [ross butler imagine]
A/n: This is cheesy don't mind me. I finally have time to write again and I'll probably be here A LOT so hmu! Let's talk, tell me what you thought!
Summary: Ross comforts you after you receive online hate due to the age gap in your relationship (requested)
Tumblr media
"What're you doing over there?" Ross asked, mindlessly walking through the living room. He didn't get you a chance to answer before he walked into the kitchen, only to pop his head back into the room and call for you again, "Babe?" "Hm?" you mumbled, tilting your head in his direction, even if your eyes never actually left the screen of your laptop. "What are you reading?" he questioned, now leaning against the wall, eyes trained on you. "I wanna cook something" you said softly, your attention divided between your boyfriend and the recipes displayed in front of you. "Why?" Ross laughed. "Stop" you scoffed, amused, "Our cheat day turned into a cheat month, and I'm really in the mood for something home cooked and healthy." Still unconvinced about your motives, he reluctantly accepted to help you choose a dish. Eventually, you settled for some fancy stake with brown rice. About half an hour later you were both in the kitchen, laughing your asses off. It all started with Ross trying to fake an Italian accent as he read the instructions for the sauce, and it ended with him posting three different videos of you two to his Instagram story. In the first one, he wasn't completely prepared, and his shyness came to light. His cheeks bright red and the room filled with his nervous laughter - it was definitely your favorite of the three. In the second one, he had gotten a little bit more in character, and he may or may not have done an adorably sweet impression of The Godfather. "He's Italian, right?" Ross laughed over your shoulder, as you watched the videos on his story.
"Yes, he is, babe" you laughed, leaning your head back, "Or was" "Did he die?" he asked, genuine curiosity visible in his eyes. "Haven't you seen the movie?" "Nope" "Well, then I'm not gonna tell you!" you exclaimed, turning around. You discarded his phone, carefully placing it on the counter. Your hands met behind his neck, your fingers intertwining. Ross looked down at you with a smile that was hard to read, but it warmed you up nonetheless. "Tell me" he begged, grabbing your waist and pulling your body flush against his, "I wanna know" "What kind of an asshole girlfriend would I be if I spoiled one of the best movies ever made for you?" Ross cocked his head to the side, and pursed his lips, "Pretty sure you'd still be the best girlfriend...." "Sweet talking won't get you anywhere, babe" you giggled, pulling yourself up on your tip toes. He met you halfway, leaning down to press his lips to yours. It was really sweet at the beginning, even though he tasted like the garlic he swore he didn't steal from your plate. But you didn't really care. The taste faded away quite rapidly, and soon, you were already clinging to his chest, your body asking for more. His tongue pushed past your lips and you welcomed him with no intention to hold back. Much to your dismay, things didn't go any further. At least not until you feasted on the food you worked so hard to make. This was probably one of the most relaxing nights you've had in ages, and were beyond thankful for it. For the past few months, your schedules had been hectic, but you just enjoyed a night in, and in the morning you were ready to head out for breakfast. You and Ross were supposed to meet your parents at a café nearby. Despite the short distance, you two were again running late. You ended up brushing your teeth at the same time, bumping shoulders and playfully bickering until you were actually too late for your own good. Ross had to physically drag you away from your make up table, "Babe, it's just our parents, they won't care when color your eyelids are" "Oh my god" you laughed, and hurried to apply the last touches of mascara, before he wrapped an arm around your middle and pulled you to your feet. "Ok! I'm done, I'm done, let's go!" Giggling, your sprinted to the hallway, hurrying to slip your shoes on. "Where the fuck is my wallet!?" you heard Ross's muffled voice echo through the apartment. "Jeans?" "Which ones?" he yelled back. "Jesus-" you laughed, rolling your eyes, "I have mine, leave it" "What if I need my ID?" Ross asked, finally coming back into your line of sight, eyes all mopey and shoulders all slumped. "What are they gonna do?" you taunted, "Assume you're not old enough to have alcohol for breakfast" "Good, point" he shook his head, and started putting his shoes on. To be fair, this was what most of your days were like, and you loved it. There was a specific air of comfort and acceptance between the two of you that you never had with anyone else. The safety he provided and the love he had for you, were the only things you needed to keep going. About 30 minutes later, you and Ross were seated on a small terrace, across from your parents. It was their idea for all of you to go out today, considering the last season of 13 Reasons Why just dropped, and even if was just a croissant and a cup of tea, it called for celebration. "I've only ever been once to the set" his mother shook her head, sipping on her smoothie, "And I feel like I'm gonna miss everything about it" "I know what you mean!" you smiled, "I've gotten the chance to meet most of the cast and they're all such amazing people!" "They love you, you know?" Ross grinned, elbowing you in the side. "Oh god" you giggled, feeling your cheeks catch a new shade of pink. "It's true" he shook his head, looking at everyone around the table in turn. A devilish smirk popped up on his lips, "Apparently we're perfect together, or something?" Everyone at the table ended up shaking their heads and chuckling at Ross's attempt to make a joke, and it only warmed your heart. Unconsciously, you leaned into him, and cuddled against his side, ignoring the looks yours and his mother gave you as he turned and kissed the top of your head. "We get it" your dad playfully scoffed, "You're young and happy and all that crap. But where are my grandkids?" Although he didn't really have a very exquisite sense of humor, you all laughed, some out of amusement, some out of nervousness. You're sure the parents didn't take it seriously, but the thought of a little Ross running around your apartment brought a ridiculous smile to your lips. The breakfast date didn't last much longer after that. About 30 minutes later, you were in the passenger seat of your car, as Ross drove the two of you home. Out of habit, you pulled out your phone, your thumb mindlessly tapping the Instagram icon. That was when you saw the amount of tags and mentions you had. Thousands of them. Your stomach filled with dread in an instant. This was never good. And even so, you still always checked what people had to say. You were not a celebrity, having people talk about you still made your skin crawl. When the comments were good, you'd just get a rush of anxiety that you started to manage better and better over the last few months, but when the comments are bad, it feels like your lungs are on the edge of collapse. And that was the case now. You only got a chance to read a few comments, all of them, without exception, picking at the age gap between the two of you. Your eyes watered instantly, forcing you to lock your phone and turn your head towards the window. "Hey, baby girl" Ross called lovingly, placing his hand of your thigh, "You good?" You just nodded. "Tell me, love" he pushed, squeezing your leg, "Come on" "I'm fine" "Obviously you're not, angel" "I'm good" you repeated yourself, and forced a fake smile. You did your best but it wasn't enough to fool him. However, he did drop the topic. The rest of the car ride was spent in perfect silence. But once you got inside, you felt him eager to pick the topic back up. So, you did the only thing that you felt was able to help you dodge the situation, and excused yourself, claiming you needed a shower after spending so much time in the sun. It would have been a great lie, but it was 11am on a cloudy July morning, you all had breakfast under a big umbrella that kept you cool in its shadow, and the AC in the car kept the unwanted high temperatures away from you. As you jumped into the shower, you hoped Ross wouldn't look too much into it. As the water poured down your body, you let your mind wonder. It was not a wise choice. If his fans managed to only find flaws about you and bring them forward, you had the upper hand - you knew yourself, and knew all the other flaws you had, the ones they couldn't pick apart. But you could. And that was what you did. For at least an hour, you soaked yourself in hot water, feeding all the negative thoughts that consumed you. When you finally decided to get out of the shower, you were by no means in a better mental state, but you didn't want to let Ross see that. Even though you had some specific opinions about yourself, you felt like opening up about them only made you a victim. So you decided against it. You got dressed up, put on one of your own shirts instead of his', something you never did inside the house, and then walked in the living room. Although you felt like ignoring him, you knew that would only raise suspicions. "What're you up to?" you asked, as you stopped right before you headed into the kitchen. Ross hadn't heard you come in, and only looked up when your voice reached his ears. "I was productive" he grinned, standing up from the couch. "Oh, what did you do?" He laughed, and walked over, "Literally nothing" Quite impossible for you to understand how his little dumb lines like these, could always make you loosen up. Of course, he noticed your faint smile hid a lot, so he leaned down to kiss your forehead and placed his fingers under your chin to get you to look up at him, "I'm not gonna ask what you were mad about earlier, because I know" "Ross-" you tried to excuse yourself, and pull away from his hold, but he was by no means having it. "You know you're my whole fucking world, ok?" he said softly, his breath fanning over your skin, "I'm the only one that gets to decide who's good for me. Falling in love with you is only up to me. Not them, ok?" "I know..." you sighed, your insecurities overwhelming you again. "But?" he nudged you, obviously aware of how much you were holding back. "But what if you're wrong?" "What do you mean, wrong?" Ross questioned, his eyebrows furrowed. "What if you only think I'm good for you? What if they're right, and you just can't see it?" He sighed, obviously deeply hurt by the lack of trust and confidence you showed, "They're not right, I'm 100% sure. But even if they were, I'd have to see for myself, wouldn't I?" "Even if what they're saying is more rational?" you asked, voice all choked up by the lump in  your throat. "I'm not gonna listen to anyone talk shit about the woman I love" he explained, "I really do see myself living the rest of my life by your side, what's a stranger gonna do? Convince me otherwise? Right now, in my life, you come first. Anyone could come and tell me anything they wanted, and still, it wouldn't change the way I feel about you. My opinion on you is based on what I know, on who you are, and you're the only one that could ever change it" His words managed to get to you, and although your knees were weak, you were still not quite there yet. "What if that's what's gonna happen? More time will pass and you'll see I'm not right for you" "That's how relationships work, love" Ross shook his head, "And it certainly does not have anything to do with you being younger than me." Too many things were coming at you at once. He made a good point, but your mind was already drunk on all the possibilities, and on all the things that could go wrong. Accepting that he might actually be right, and acknowledging the fact that in your current state, you couldn't possibly think straight, you hoped he'd understand you when you ask to continue this conversation later in the day. "We can talk about this whenever you want, baby girl" he said, and unlike before, now he sounded defeated. As if he realized he did not manage to et his point across, and that you were still down. If you had your eyes open, you would've probably noticed hurt in his expression when he failed to lift your spirits, but your vision was clouded and all you did was leave the room without a single word. What was hard now, was the fact that deep down, a part of you knew he was right, and that he made a legitimately fair point, and that of all things, breaking up was the last thing you wanted. But you backed out of situation like these before, and all you did in the end was regret your choices. Regret the fact you didn't fight and didn't believe the person next to you, who spent their days proving just how much you mean to them. Exhausted and in need of a break, you opened up your phone to call your best friend. When the screen lit up, your Instagram feed popped up, refreshing as it hasn't been used in hours. Out of habit, you allowed the posts to load, and thank god you did.
Tumblr media
Words could not describe the storm of emotions taking place inside your belly. You knew Ross, knew he would never lie, deceive or manipulate, and the fact that he posted that for his 8.5M followers to see, had to mean something. And when you checked the time, you saw that the picture was posted while you were still in the shower, before that little conversation you tow had. As cliché as it sounds, it really did it for you. Him standing up for you in front of his own fans, meant everything in that moment. You only realized you stormed into the living room when you were already slumping down into the couch, grabbing Ross's hand into your own. "Thank you" was all that came out of your mouth, despite the monstrous battle of thoughts that was going on inside your head. "For what, baby?" he asked, voice all soft and loving as he leaned his head to the side. "I saw the post and I wanted to th-" "Don't thank me for that, ok?" he cut you off, his free hand coming up to guide your chin. He searched for you with his stare, and only continued to talk after your eyes met his, "I didn't do it because I thought that was what you wanted. I felt like doing it. I did it for you, because you're my girl, and I hate seeing you down. And I did it for me too, because there is no chance in hell I'm ever allowing anyone to poke into our private business like that" As stray tears roamed down your cheeks, a small giggle came out too, "I feel kinda stupid, you know?" you snorted, "I don't know why I needed to hear you say this to everyone. It should have been enough that you said it to me. I'm sorry" His eyes softened even more as he opened his arms. You crawled over, and rested against his chest. In this position, where we felt the safest in the world, you started to wonder how on earth you even doubted him. "Listen to me-" Ross said sweetly but with an affirming tone. "Fears and insecurities? We're working through them. Together. Whatever it is, I got you. You're my world, Y/n, the love of my life, I really want the best for you. I have a lot to learn, but I really wanna make you the happiest. I am always here for you, and always will be, ok? I really need to know you know that" "You're an angel" you nodded, cuddling deeper into his chest, "I love you" "You're the angel" Ross laughed, playing with your hair, "And no more hiding, ok? It's me and you, that's it" "Me and you"

Hold On - Zach Dempsey x Reader
Request - “Can you do a Zach imagine based of the song “hold on chord overstreet” with a female reader”
A/N: Not quite sure I got the gist of the song but I did my best.
Playlist: Hold On - Chord Overstreet
Sometimes in her head, she just couldn’t help but think back to when she was with Zach. In fact, her heart still ached immensely whenever she thought of him. It had been the best few months of her life, but the problem was that their feelings for each other were so intense, that they just couldn’t help but fight all the time. Their last fight was their worst.
—–
“I know you did it Zach!” She cried from the bathroom floor, her back against the door which had Zach on the other side.
“I didn’t! How many times do I have to- FUCK!” He kicked the door in frustration. His forehead collapsed against the door. “I’d never-” his voice broke.
Hearing that made her heart lurch and her eyes well up again. She gasped and clutched her hand over her mouth to conceal her whimpers.
Zach shut his eyes fiercely as though that might stop the tears from falling.
“Y/N.” he sobbed in a whisper.
Her heart was hurting like someone had drowned it and all her oxygen was slowly being stolen from her.
“Please open the door!” He hit the door with his balled up fists. After a few weak punches he lost any kind of momentum and slid down to his knees. He threw his back against the door, much like her.
“Just leave, Zach.” Her voice was barely audible as it was barely even there.
“You don’t mean it. I know you don’t.”
“Please-” but once again she was overcome with a sense of unforgiving inescapable pain.
“I’d be so lost if you left me.” He pleaded. Silence. Her words wouldn’t come out even if she wanted them to. Can you hear me screaming please don’t leave me?
“I love you.” He cried.
She pulled her knees as far up to her chest as she could, burying her face. No, you don’t. She thought. If you did you wouldn’t have done it.
“You said that so easily. Like it means nothing to you.” Her voice came to her.
“I said it easily because it’s one thing I am 100% certain of.” He begged her to hear him.
“We both know it’s not true.”
“How many times do I have to tell you how much you mean to me?” He banged his head back against the door, shocking her slightly. She simply pulled further into herself.
And then a thought hit him. She would be so much better off without him, and maybe he needed to put himself through the worst pain imaginable in order for her to have a better life, in order for her to be happy.
He clenched his jaw tightly. Nothing could prepare him for this.
“You know what? Maybe it isn’t true.” He said through gritted teeth. “Maybe I did do it, maybe I don’t care about you.” He could kick himself a thousand times, but he hoped that this would save her from their explosive relationship.
Their age and their passion both contributed to the strong emotions that came through in their relationship. They both loved each other more than anything, but maybe the timing was off.
She tried to swallow the lump in her throat, but she just couldn’t. It was rough and heavy, and It weighed on her entirety.
“Well,” she swallowed. “Just as I thought.” She felt as though she was gasping for air, but all she could find were razor blades. She heard Zach stand.
He walked over to her dresser, kissing her photograph one last time, before leaving without a word. There was no way he could get one out, anyway.
—–
Nowadays, Zach and Y/N were strangers. They hadn’t spoken since that eventful evening, and never acknowledged the other when passing in the hallways or bumping into each other in the cafeteria.
Until one, strange, stormy day. She’d started on her walk home from school, through a pretty bluebell field that was blowing in the wind.
“Hold up, Y/N.” a voice called behind her. Zach Dempsey. She’d recognise it anywhere. She turned apprehensively.
“What do you want?” She practically spat, not meaning to come across so hostile. He sighed.
“I know I’m the last person you want to talk to.”
She raised her eyebrows as if to say, no shit Sherlock. He moved closer so that they were now a few feet apart.
“These past few months I couldn’t stop thinking about the last time we spoke. I made a decision that day, and no matter how I feel about it now, the decision cost me the best thing I’ve ever had.”
“Zach-” she protested.
“Hear me out.” He held his hand up. “I thought I was being selfless. I’m still not entirely sure. But if that’s the case then I’ve realised I have to now be selfish. I have to. I can’t go another day seeing your face in the corridor and not being able to kiss the shit out of it. Or seeing you pissed at a teacher, upset at your friends and not being able to be there for you. I can’t tell you how much it fucking hurts. You would’ve thought by now it might have numbed slightly, but it feels worse than ever.” His expression was pained and his eyes cut through yours. “And you have to believe me that I never did it, I know there was a small part of you that did, and i need you to listen to that part and see.”
“What are you trying to say, Zach?” She was taken aback. This was all so sudden and a huge shock to her system. She didn’t understand. Despite this she had an unshakable feeling that he was telling the truth, no matter how strongly her instincts were telling her not to believe a word he said.
“I’m trying to say; come back, I still need you. I still want you. You’re still the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. No matter how much I try to kid myself I am so utterly hopelessly in love with every single cell in your body, Y/N.” he scrunched up his eyes. “I wish I wasn’t, for your sake.” He took a few moments to collect himself. It began to rain heavily around them, but they didn’t take any notice.
“I understand if you can’t accept this. I fucked you over, and you didn’t deserve that, but I had to let you know.” He breathed, starting to edge backwards slightly, his floppy hair dripping into his eyes.
“Wait!” She grabbed his rain-soaked face and pulled it down to hers desperately, finally finding that oxygen again. “Don’t ever let me go again.”

Perfectly Oblivious - Zach Dempsey
Synopsis;
You are certainly oblivious to Zach’s feelings towards you, as he is with yours. A misunderstanding leads to a confession from both ends.
Tumblr media
Warnings: lil bit of angst maybe, language, low-key slow burn. I dunno, Bryce lmao. May be shitty due to this being my first bit of writing.
Words: 3,139
Pairing: Zachery ‘Zach’ Dempsey x Reader
_______________
With an aggravated groan, Y/N stretched her limbs out whilst throwing a deadly glare towards their phone, which continuously blared out the awful sound of their alarm. Exhaling a long, sleep ridden sigh, she threw her warm, comfy covers off and proceeded to remove their fatigued body from the mattress to turn off the overly annoying tone that continues to taunt them and start their day.
Finally turning off the alarm that so rudely awoke them from their dreamy slumber, Y/N notices the text from her best friend Tony, notifying them that he'll be there to pick them up to head to school in 15 minutes.
Which was sent 10 minutes ago.
"Shit."
_______________
Just as Y/N finished running around like a headless chicken trying to get ready for their day at hell, ahem, I meant school, the purr of the famous 'stang accompanied with a quick double honk of the horn could be heard just down the driveway of their house, notifying her of Tony's arrival.
Quickly doing a mental checklist, she gave herself a small nod of approval and ran straight through the door, speedily locking it behind them and sprinting down to the car.
As Y/N reached the red, metallic stead, she noticed a certain leather jacket clad friend not so successfully hiding his amusement over his friends' rushing about. Playfully narrowing her eyes at the boy in the drivers seat whilst settling into the front, Y/N spoke in an unamused tone. "Shut up."
"I-wha-I didn't even say anything," he spluttered slightly whilst trying to keep from bursting out with laughter when replying to his friend whose appearance was slightly dishevelled. Starting the engine of his car back up, he smirked slightly as he pulled off, side-eyeing his company for the ride. "I see you've had a wonderful morning."
"Fucking brilliant," she replied, rolling her eyes, trying to hide her own amusement.
"Hey! Watch your fucking language, kid!" Within moments of Tony's reply, they simultaneously exploded with boisterous laughs, so much so that if Y/N threw her head back any further, their skull would be through the headrest of the car seat.
Soon calming down from the ridiculous early morning banter, Tony glances towards his best friend resting her elbow on the car door, dangling their arm out the window and enjoying the breeze, he smiles and speaks up, breaking the blissful silence. "Sooooo, when are you going to ask out Dempsey, huh?"
Y/N flushes slightly, a soft pink tint rising up her neck and onto her cheeks, the tips of her ears feeling uncomfortably hot. "I am NOT asking him out, I'll look like a damn idiot T." they reply, shaking their head vigorously. "It's just friendly banter and homework talk between us anyways, no actual indication that the tall bastard likes me."
"Tall, handsome, bastard." He blatantly 'corrects' her, as if stating a well known fact, which it most definitely is. Chuckling slightly, he continues. "You haven't seen the way he looks at you when you aren't paying attention. He's got it bad, baby and so do you. So God help me, if you don't do something soon, I sure as shit am going to interfere like you won't believe." he finishes, shaking his head slightly with slowly pulling into a parking spot in the lot at school.
Letting out an exasperated yet sad sigh, she grabs her bag and gets out of the car, waiting for her 'short-stack' pal to exit the vehicle himself before linking her arm around his and make their way towards the entrance of the school.
_______________
As they walked through the doors together, arm in arm, they are greeted by the regular bustling school body of Liberty High, occupying both sides of the hallways as they either loiter or obtain their textbooks needed for their classes of the day.
Once further into the busy building, Tony and Y/N part ways and head to their respective lockers to collect their own books for the day. When Y/N reaches her locker, she feels a gaze upon her as she focuses on collecting her books. As she's about to close her locker, the one and only Zachary Dempsey  appears beside her with a blinding smile that makes her swoon and weak at the knees.
She meets his eyes and notices the bright shine behind them, filled with happiness but also a hint of something else she can't quite put her finger on. Brushing the thought off, she returns the smile, beaming just as brightly at the taller male.
She chuckles softly, containing a hint of amusement and nervousness as she greets him. "Hey Dempsey."
"Y/L/N."
"And what do I owe the pleasure of being graced by your immaculate presence?" She giggles softly at her over dramatized question.
Zach shares a small chuckle with the girl. He looks down slightly to hide the inevitable flush of colour to his face. Though she quickly notices, she neglects the idea to bring it up and the corners of her mouth turn upwards more so slightly, smiling to herself victoriously.
"Well I was wondering you'd allow me the honours of walking to class with you fair maiden." He replies in a cheeky tone, speaking with just as much of a dramatized tone, looking back up to meet the gaze of the girl in front of him again.
She snorts out in laughter but quickly flushes with embarrassment, eyes widening slightly at the action. As she avoids his gaze, nervously playing with her fingers in hope of it comforting her in her time of embarrassment, his smile widens, believing it's the most beautiful and quite possibly the cutest sound he has ever heard a human make in the entirety of his existence. He gazes upon her adoringly but of course, she doesn't notice.
Deciding to help her out, he stands from his leaning position against the locker and looks at her expectantly as he speaks. "Well m'lady, will you allow my to escort you to communications class?" He raises an eyebrow as she looks up at him with a soft smile, blushing even more profusely. She nods her head and finally closes her locker as she starts walking along side him. He smiles victoriously and slings his arm over her shoulders as they continue walking to class, pulling her into his side.
'This is going to be a great day', they both so happened to think to themselves as they head towards their destination for first period.
_______________
As the weeks progressed, Y/N noticed a slight change within Zach's behaviour around her. First came the sweet, kind gestures like carrying her bag as they walk to class together, then the flirty comments, making her blush madly as she would smile up at the basket ball player. But then it soon developed to more shared touches, his fingertips lingering on her skin, goosebumps rising along her arms and making the hairs on the back of her neck stand.
His touch feather light and delicate, as if she was the most precious, fragile thing in the world, sending a tingle up her spine every time they came into contact.
Y/N also noticed the way his jaw clenched whenever she laughed at Foley's jokes or when she became engrossed in a conversation with Atkins and gave him her undivided attention. He wanted that attention so badly for himself but that's something she certainly didn't see.
All these actions between the two often put the thought of "Does he actually like me back?" into her mind but she is just as quick to dismiss them with a shake of her head.
Surely he only likes her as a friend. Right?
_______________
Y/N was heading towards the parking lot to meet up with Tony, her ride home, when an ear studded Jeff in all his decked out in letterman jacket glory jogged up to her and slung an arm over her shoulders, taking the poor, unsuspecting girl by surprise and making her jump slightly.
Looking up, she meets Jeff's gaze and gleaming smile as he chuckles. "Jesus Jeff, you scared the shit out of me." She huffs and pauses momentarily, holding her hand over her heart before resuming with walking, Jeff still slung over her two shoulders.
"Sorry Y/N/N." he laughs boisterously at her pouty expression.
"We need to put a fucking bell on you or something so you can't sneak up on people like that." She suggests playfully.
Jeff continues to chuckle, responding with a small shake of his head in amusement. "Are you saying I'm a pussy, Y/N?" He retorts back, giving her a slight smirk. "I wanted to know if you're coming to the party tonight at Bryce's."
"Yeah, I'll be there. For some reason, Jess and Hannah are actually pretty excited for it so they're forcing me and Clay to go. They've even roped T into going too somehow." Rolling her eyes, she smiles up at the boy.
"Glad to hear it. I'll see you later then." He winks at her and starts to walk away when he shouts back with a mischievous glint in his eye. "AND WEAR SOMETHING SEXY!"
She laughs loudly as she finally gets to Tony's car and climbs in, throwing her back on to the back seat and heading home ready to start preparing for the party later that night.
Throughout their interaction, Zach watched the whole thing from his spot in the parking lot next to his car with furrowed eyebrows and a clenched jaw. His fists balled up so tightly by his sides that his knuckles turned a ghostly white. To say he was pissed would be an understatement. Jeff knew of his not so little crush on Y/N and wanted to know what he was playing at. hell, he encouraged him to ask you out most of the time.
One way or another, he was finally going to ask you out tonight at the party. 'Before someone else does first', he thought bitterly to himself.
_______________
Y/N gives herself a final once over in her full body length mirror, admiring her outfits that accentuates her features perfectly without being to revealing and uncomfortable. She beams at the handy work of her hair that works beautifully with her outfit for the night. With a pleased smile and a nod of her head, she grabs her phone and heads downstairs to wait in the living room for Tony to finally pick her up.
As she waits on the sofa, viewing her friends snapchat stories, she notices a certain tall, dark haired basket ball player in the background of Monty's snap talking to who she deducts to be Jenny. She notes how blissfully happy he seems to be while Jenny grasps at his biceps, pushing her breasts up and towards his arm, obviously flirting immensely.
With a disheartened huff, she locks her phone and continues waiting for her friend in silence.
'I knew he didn't like me, she's obviously his type'. Her saddening thoughts consumed her mind until the familiar rumble of an engine snapped her out of her revere. She grabbed her phone, making sure she had everything she needed before heading out the door, locking it behind her and hopping into the car, NOT looking forward to watching her long time crush have a girl hang off his arm all night like the worlds most irritating koala ever.
_______________
Walking into the party, the music reverberated throughout the room, adding a thumping pressure on her chest. The music pounding loudly in her ears, she heads towards the kitchen, ready to have her first taste of alcohol that night, which will hopefully help her avoid him.
Upon entering the kitchen, Bryce, who was surrounded by a few other jocks, including Scott and Monty, took notice of Y/N and beckoned her over with a loud greeting and use of her name.
She looked up at the boy and gave him a small, sheepish smile. "Hey Walker." She may not like him greatly but she sees no harm in being civil as he did so too.
"Glad to see you came." He gave her a slight smirk, pulling his bottom lip in-between his teeth.
"Looking good Y/L/N!" Monty complimented loudly over the high volume of the music, giving you a once over with his eyes, looking you up and down. Scott seemingly doing the same.
"Uh, thanks guys." She flushes, more so from feeling uncomfortable under the stares of the jocks she had no interest in sticking around by. "I'm just gonna-uh-get a drink." She gives a tight lipped smile as she squeezes past and gains access to the beverages.
Finally finishing grabbing a drink, she makes haste towards the backyard where she assumes her friends would be. She unfortunately didn't find her friends and was greeted to the sight of a overly tipsy Zach playing beer pong with irritatingly loud Jenny cheering him on. Y/N rolls her eyes at the sight and speedily heads towards the opposite end of the yard.
Sighing, she sits on one of the few sun loungers surrounding the pool, starring sombrely into the amber liquid in her red solo cup. If the drink was a few shades darker, it would be like staring into his eyes, the eyes she wished would look at her filled with love and adoration.
Taking a big gulp, she chances a glance over towards where they had set up the game of beer pong, hoping to get a peek at the guy in question, although she didn't know whether she would like what she'd see.
To her surprise, Zach was already looking over in her direction with a sour face to match her mood. She quickly glanced back down, returning to glare and her drink in hand before taking another big gulp. She felt his gaze burn holes into her and she shifted uncomfortably.
Without so much as a warning, Zach had apparently made his way over without her noticing and sat down beside her on the sun lounger, startling her slightly.
"Hey." she greeted softly, fiddling with her nearly empty cup, basking in the awkward atmosphere, feeling the air surrounding them thick with tension.
"So, where's Jeff?" He questioned bitterly, causing her to furrow her eyebrows in confusion towards the boy sat beside her.
"What? Why would I know where Jeff is?" The confusion she's experiencing crystal clear in her tone of voice just as much as her expression, staring at the boy quizzically.
His jaw clenches slightly and he downs the rest of the liquid within his cup. Sighing heavily as he turns his body towards her, he has an unreadable expression on his own perfectly sculpted face, causing her to frown. "Because you're dating. Or are you messing with his feeling just like fucking mine." He snaps at her slightly. You open and close your mouth repeatedly, shocked by what you're hearing. Before you can ask what he means, he continues, slurring slightly from his consumption . "Yanno, I really like you, like really like you but you clearly just love messing guys around and fucking with their heads. First you lead me on, then you claw your way to Jeff. You've probably lead on half of the fucking school. You're just a bitch like the...rest..."
Zach trails off as he sees the tears building up and threaten to spill from your eyes at any second and he realises what he's done. He shakes his head vigorously with a sad expression upon his. "I-I-I didn't..I didn't mean that...I-I'm sorry..."
He kneels in front of her, taking Y/N's small hands into his larger ones and kisses her knuckles repeatedly, muttering apologies, so quietly that she barely hears them escape his mouth.
"Wh-uh-why wou-would you say tha-at?" She hiccups as she questions his hurtful words. She sniffles slightly and allows some of her tears to fall and roll down her cheek. The sight breaks Zach's heart and he berates himself in his head for hurting such a sweet and an amazing person. In truth, he knew she did nothing wrong but with his overthinking combined with his alcohol consumption, he couldn't help himself.
"I'm an idiot, I don't know, I am SOOOO sorry." He brings his hands up to cup her cheeks and wipe her tears away gently with the pads of his thumbs. "I've definitely ruined my chances now, huh?" He chuckles dryly, a lump forming in his throat.
She looks up at him shocked, cheeks stained with tears that slowly start to dry up. She sniffles and gives him and incredulous look, shaking her head. "You've got to be kidding me." She chuckles softly at his confused expression. "Do you know how long I've wanted to be with you. Jesus fucking Christ Zach. I thought you didn't like me so I sure as shit didn't make a move. I thought we were just friends with weird interactions and banter." She shakes her head, hiding her face in her hands as she lets out a small frustrated groan.
Zach removes her hands from her face and smiles up at her. "How could you seriously not realise that I like you? I made it way too painfully fucking obvious." He lets out a breathy laugh as he slowly moves closer to you. "You are so perfectly oblivious, you know that right?"
Y/N flushes a light pink as she giggles softly, slowly meeting him halfway, alternating between looing into his eyes and staring longingly at his lips.
"Are you sure you want this?" He asks, barely above a whisper, afraid that he would ruin the moment if his voice raised a decibel higher.
Without answering, she closes the gap, pushing her soft, plump lips on to his slightly chapped ones, savouring the moment between the two. She slowly moves her hands up and around to the back of his neck, playing with the hair on his nape as his left cupped her cheek and right gently held on to her waist.
Cheering and wolf whistles sounded not too far to the side of them near the house. Breaking apart slightly, the two saw a small gathering of their friends being over excited about their kiss. Y/N caught sight of Tony and he sent her a cheeky, sly wink. She giggled softly as Zach shook his head, trying to hide his beaming grin.
"Yeah! Get some Dempsey!"
"SHUT THE FUCK UP BRYCE!" Everyone simultaneously shouted altogether, silencing the perverted party host.
Y/N and Zach go back to looking at each other, both of their eyes filled with adoration for the other sat in front of them. The share a cheek splitting grin before leaning in a sharing a final kiss before Zach stands up and extends his arm out, offering his hand to Y/N. "Come on m'lady, I think we need another drink."
_______________ . . . . . Okay, so I know this wasn't the best, I honestly didn't know where I was going with this. I'll probably be able to formulate a better story if I have an idea on what my story is actually going to be about lmao But seriously, if you've read this, then thank you. I'll be uploading as often as I can (when I'm not swamped with college work), and that means I'll slowly improve. I'd love to get some requests. I can work on them in my spare time and I think it'll be fun to see what others want.
Constructive criticism is gladly welcomed :D

————
“Jesus Justy, you’re such a lightweight, aren’t you? Do I have to take care of your dumb ass all night?” You looked over at your boyfriend of a few months, cheeks pink, mouth pulled back into an amused grin.
“Shut the fuck up. I am not a lightweight. Besides, look who’s talking. Remember Bryce’s party a few weeks ago? We hadn’t even been there for like 2 hours and your pretty little ass was passed out on the couch.”
You and Justin walked up the narrow stairs that led into the attic, hand in hand. It had been his idea to buy some beer, to smoke some weed and you had been on board with the plan. You had snuck Justin into your room and the both of you had spent the better part of the afternoon drinking the nasty beer, beer provided by Bryce Walker, having chugging competitions to see who could drink the most and fastest. Now, you and the handsome high school athlete found yourselves making your way up to the attic that led to the roof.
“Oh shut up! I was not drunk! That was you.” You laughed, your bright eyes glimmering like two twinkling stars in the night sky. The two of you had worked your way into the attic, shimmied through the window and found yourselves on the roof of your house. You had chosen a comfortable, as comfortable as it could be for the roof, spot and took a seat, patting the spot beside you for Justin to sit down. The chocolate haired teenager did as instructed and sat beside you, your arms touching. He’d since abandoned his fashionable blue and white letterman jacket, the garment laying stagnant on your bed.
A warm evening consumed Evergreen County. The sky was full of vibrant colors such as orange, red and yellow which were slowly being rotted away into a sea of black. You could see the moon just barely beginning to peak out in the sky. It was beginning to look like a beautiful night. Warm and crisp and breezy. Quite frankly, you were a little tipsy. You and Justin. You weren’t stumbling or anything, but it was enough to leave you feeling free and good. You felt good.
Justin held the joint up to his lips and fished a lighter out from his pocket. He hovered the flame by the tip until it began to smolder nicely. He inhaled deeply, held it for a few seconds and then removed the joint from his move. Blue eyes as bright as the ocean on a sunny day watched the plumes of white smoke dissipate into thin air, dancing like ink in water until they simply vanished. He handed the joint over to you and then laid back against the roof, staring up at the sky.
“Mhm. Whatever helps you sleep better at night, babe.” Justin smoke, a peaceful smile on his face. The truth was; this was the most peaceful that he’d felt in quite a few days. Being away from home, being away from that toxic environment that sucked the life and energy out of him. He turned his head to look at you; you had followed his lead and laid down beside him, bringing the joint up to your lips. You wrapped your lips around the end of it and inhaled, your eyes closing for a brief few seconds. You’re beautiful, he thought to himself. The familiar stench of weed had invaded his nostrils, as well as yours.
“My parents would fuckin’ kill me if they saw me up here.” You said, laughing a bit breathlessly. You parents were oblivious, in the living room or kitchen, completely unaware that Justin had been in your room the entire afternoon. Completely unaware that you were now on the roof smoking weed with your boyfriend. Though, you supposed that it worked out better for you, because you could feel yourself relaxing even further, ending a good day on an even higher note, no pun intended.
“I get the feeling neither of them would like me if they saw us up here. They’d probably say I was a bad influence on you. And it’s probably true.” He chuckled, taking the joint between his fingers and bringing it up to his lips again. “I’m corrupting you, baby.” He said, cheekily. He looked over at you with that big and bright smile on his face and you were reminded of why you fell for him in the first place; you and Justin went to the same school. Liberty High School. You weren’t necessarily popular but you weren’t a loner either. You had just moved there a few months, shortly before going out with Justin. and you had immediately caught his eye. He’d flirt with you, do things to try and get your attention. But you made him work for it. You wanted him to sweat a little bit, make him realize that you weren’t going to give in to his charms so easily.
But in the end, he won you over. You couldn’t say no to him. You couldn’t say no to that beautiful smile and those bright blue eyes. Now, here you were, months later. You were going out, happy as can be. But, you had soon learned that Justin’s life wasn’t all that he made it out to be. You remembered one evening where he called you, asked if he could go over to your house and spend the night. Usually, you’d say no. You knew that your parents would ground you for life if they found a boy in your room at night. But his voice, he sounded so sad, so broken — you couldn’t say no to him. However, the last thing that you expected to see was your boyfriend sporting a fresh, darkening purple bruise on his cheekbone that cascaded all the way up to his eye. Around his neck were reddening fingerprints, as if someone had strangled him.
You remembered the shock that you felt seeing him in such a state, and naturally, you had thought that you boyfriend had been in a fight. He had been in a fight. With his mom’s boyfriend. All you could do was sit on the bed, hold a pack of ice to his face and listen as he explained to you the horrors that he went through on a daily basis at the hands of his drug addicted mother and her boyfriend. He looked so different than how you knew him. His ocean eyes that were usually so vibrant and full of life, were downcast, gloomy. That was when you realized that there was more to Justin Foley than met the eye. From then on, you told him that whenever things were getting bad at home, he always had a place to stay with you. And it seemed like your relationships had also strengthened, like you two had gotten closer. All you wanted to do was ensure that he was safe, that no harm would come to him. Even if it meant physically stepping in and doing something. Though, you were sure that you would be no match for the coward known as Seth Massey. Still, you would do anything for Justin. Just as you knew he’d do anything for you.
You chuckled softly at his words. “Well then I guess you can be my dirty little secret.” You said to him, scooting so that you were snuggled closer to him. It was then that your smile melted away and was replaced with a look of concern. “How are things with you thought? At home, I mean. You haven’t spoken about it in a little while, and Bryce told me that you stayed with him for a few days last week. Is Seth back?” You were trying your hardest not to pry, the last thing you wanted to do was come off as clingy or noisy, but you couldn’t help it. You cared. Where Justin was laying on his back, the hem of his shirt had rose up slightly on his stomach, leaving a thick sliver of skin expose. Your fingers rested there, absently toying with the thing trail of hair below his belly button. That first inhale was gradually loosening your muscles. “We don’t have to talk about it if you don’t want to.. I just worry. I mean.. is everything good? Or do I have to kick his ass for you?” You said, only half joking.
Justin smiled, wrapping his arm around you to pull you closer to him. “I would love to see that. I mean, I would pay to see that shit actually.” He chuckled, taking one more drag of the joint before handing it off to you. His fingers drew little random patterns and shaped on your silky skin, his smile dying down. “Yeah, um.. He’s back. I mean, honestly I just figured I’d stay out of his way rather than start anymore fuckin’ problems. The last thing I need is to get into another fuckin’ fight with that dick. So I just stayed with Bryce for a few days.” In all honesty, Seth actually kind of scared Justin. The man was unpredictable. Violent. He’d hurt Justin countless of times, called him so many names that he could probably write a book filled with them. There were times were the blue eyed teen didn’t even want to deal with Seth so he just escaped to Bryce’s pool house where he’d pretend like his home life wasn’t a big pule of shit. Still, he wrestled with his thoughts of guilt at leaving his mom alone with that scum bad. He wrestled with his thought of guilt because he knew that Seth would and could hurt his mother. But countless of times, Amber Foley welcomed Seth back no matter what he’d done to her or him. And countless of times, Justin was left disappointed by his own flesh and blood.
It was why he was determined to keep you out of that. You were probably one of the few good things in his life, besides Bryce and his friends. You were good. You were pure. And the last thing he wanted was to have you tainted by the shit show that was his life. Sometimes he felt like he didn’t deserve you at all. Like you deserved someone way better than him. Someone who could give you more than him. If he was being truthful, he never wanted you to find out about his home life. He wanted to keep that part of his life hidden and he wanted you to see what everybody at school saw; the popular jock with lots of friends and lots of girls pining after him. The guy with the seemingly perfect life. Yet, when you discovered that his mom was a drug addict with an extremely abusive boyfriend.. you stayed. You didn’t judge him. You didn’t leave him. You stayed. And Justin considered himself the luckiest person on the planet because he had you.
You frowned. “Justin, babe, why didn’t you tell me? You know that you don’t have to hide shit from me, right? I mean I’m glad you got outta there and stayed with Bryce for a few days but you can come to me too.”
“Hey, it’s fine. It’s whatever. I just I didn’t want to tell you anything and make you worried. I only stayed with Bryce because.. I don’t know, I just didn’t want to feel like I was bugging you or something. And I don’t want you to get in trouble with your folks because of me incase they found out that I stayed here.” He explained. “Don’t worry, okay? Everything is all good, I promise. I’m here with you. How could it not be?” He leaned over and kissed your forehead. His words and his kiss had eased your nerves, even if it was only temporarily. Right now, the two of you were together and everything was good. Neither of you had a care in the world; you were with each other and you were all that mattered.
“You know that you don’t deserve it, right? All that shit from Seth. No matter what he says or does to you.. it’s not your fault and you shouldn’t have to live like that.. I’m serious, Justin. I’m here, don’t forget that. I’m your girlfriend but I’m also your friend.” You said. To show that he’d heard you, Justin gave your arm a loving squeeze. For a few minutes, neither of you said nothing. The both of you just stared up at the darkening sky, passing the joint back and forth until nothing was left. Until your muscles were completely relaxed, until your eyes were half lidded, until the only thing on your mind was how good you felt.
“Do you ever think about leaving this place? Just packing your shit and going? I’ve thought about it. We could go anywhere we want. Away from Seth, from all the high school bullshit, away from everyone. It’d be nice.” You hummed, the air growing cooler as you spoke. “But it looks like we’re stuck here. For now, at least. Graduation seems like forever away.” You broke the silence, though your eyes never left the beautiful sky. Justin, however, turned to look at you. For a few seconds, he just stared at you and took you in — how good your perfume smelled and how it seemed to cling to him. How the fabric of your outfit contrasted beautifully against your skin. How relaxed you looked. You were utterly ethereal.
“I think about it all the time. Especially when I’m at home, listening to my mom and Seth fight. I think about just fucking leaving and never coming back. Forgetting this boring ass little town and just.. getting away from here.” He revealed. “Maybe one day, me and you, we can get outta here together. After graduation. Just pack our shit up and leave.” That was a good thought. Leaving Crestmont with you. Going anywhere in the world that they wanted. But you two were still young, and neither of you knew the giant shit storm that you were about to go through. Neither of you knew the horror that you’d endure. Neither of you knew if you’d even still be together by the time you go to graduation.. or if you even make it to graduation. Still, right now, everything seemed too good and too perfect. Like nothing could tear you down and ruin what you had going on.
You groaned, burying your face in Justin’s shoulder. “Graduation is so far away.” You whined playfully. “Who’s to say that you won’t get tired of me by then?”
“Eh, you’re right. You’re pretty fucking annoying.” Justin said, earning a smack to the chest by you. “I’m kidding!” He laughed. “I mean.. we don’t know what’s gonna happen but I like to think that you and I will still be together by the time we get to graduation. I mean.. I don’t know.. call me sappy or whatever.. I just really like you, Y/N.. And you know about me and my fucked up life and family and you haven’t run for the hills.. yet. I guess I’m pretty fucking lucky to have you and I don’t wanna screw any of this up.”
“Wow.. Justin Foley.. Have you been watching cheesy romance movies?” You teased your boyfriend. He rolled his eyes and shook his head, laughing softly. “Seriously though.. I really like you too and nothing you do or say is gonna scare me off. Seth isn’t gonna scare me off either. You’re right, we don’t know what’s gonna happen in the future but.. we just gotta take it day by day right.. Together?”
Instead of initially answering you verbally, Justin surged forward and captured your soft lips with his own. The kiss that you shared was slow, relaxed, a symptom of the weed that you two had just shared. But it was more loving than any other kiss you’d experienced before. You sighed in content, easing against him, but Justin reacted by gripping your thigh and moving it so that it was draped over his lap. You did the rest; without breaking the kiss, your mouths and tongues moving in a steady rhythm, you shifted from laying against the tiled roof and positioned yourself on top of him. Your thigh were sturdy on either side of his lips, your butt rested lightly upon his lap. Justin’s hands fell on your hips, holding you secure and steady against him, almost as if wanting to make sure that you wouldn’t disappear.
After a few long, precious moments, you finally pulled away an inch or two. Your face was close to his, your noses barely touching. “Together.” He finally answered.
“You’re stuck with me now, Foley. Sorry about it.” You giggled breathlessly, your eyes shining brightly. Justin never wanted to look away.
“Yeah? Well sorry to say it, but you’re stuck with me too, baby. You ain’t getting rid of me that easily.”
Justin knew his friends, Bryce and all the other jocks, would call him pussy whipped if they could see him now. Hell, they already did every time they saw you and Justin walking down the hallway holding hands or his arm around you.. Justin would soon learn that his biggest downfall would be caring too much of what his friends think.
But for now, he enjoyed the moment of being tangled up with you on the roof of your house with the moon illuminating you both. Nothing else mattered.

hi love! you don’t have to but could you write a zalex fic during the camping trip where after everyone finds out about winston and alex zach checks on him and they have this super cute moment where they’re like just looking at the stats/moon? kinda like the clannah scene in s1
The Same Person That I Need is The One I'm Running From
The woods were still, they were quiet except for the occasional who-ing of owls, the rustles of the leaves, the movement of fabric as people moved in their sleep. Alex had been lying awake, he was freezing and heartbroken. Alex had his big yellow jacket on as well as being wrapped up like a burrito in his sleeping bag. He sighed, he felt so fucking betrayed and used and disgusting. He can’t believe he was played and lied to like that, he ran a hand down his face and That’s when he heard the crack of a stick right next to his tent. He saw the shadow of someone right next to his tent, his heartbeat quickened, what if it was a murderer. Alex decided he had faced scarier in his short 17-years of living and took a deep breath, waiting for the figure to go away, slowly the shadow moved towards the front of Alex and his father’s tent, then he heard a small “Alex,” He knew exactly who it was when he heard the voice, he rolled his eyes at the antics of the boy. He unzipped his sleeping bag quietly before crawling towards the front of the tent, unzipping the zippered up entrance. Seeing a familiar goofy and lopsided smile, Zach Dempsey, worlds resident sweetheart, Alex’s best friend.
“What do you want?” Alex said peeking his head through the entrance, he realized how close he was to Zach’s face, Alex flushed backing up from the entrance.
“Come out here with me,” He smiled. Alex nodded, wearily. He never needed much of reason to go with Zach, he would follow him into a void if he smiled at him like that. He zipped the tent back up before turning around and facing the boy who dragged him out of his deep and heavy thoughts. “Okay, I’m out here what do you want Dempsey?” Alex said folded his arms across his chest, his eyebrows raised.
“Can’t a man tell his best friend to wake up without wanting anything?” Alex rolled his eyes, looking at him expectedly. A small paused, Zach, said more carefully, “I heard what happened…”
Alex sighed walking away from Zach and the campsite, it was no one’s business. He was furious with the way news of the two of them had got around not only was he furious about that it had gotten around but that it had reached Zach, the one person he deliberately didn’t want to know. Zach had followed him wordlessly.
    “I’m okay, you know…”
“I can’t believe that when the last time you said-” Zach inched closer to the boy in front of him with a frown painted on his lips.
“I know…” Alex whispered. He let out a loud exhale, “I really am okay, Zach,” He said turning away from Zach, he knew he’d see the lie in his face if he saw it.
“I can tell you’re not…” He said crossing his arms, “You think I can’t hear it in your voice?”
“Well, what about you huh?!” Alex’s voice crack, he felt like crying. He turned sharply in the direction of Zach.
    “What about me?”
“You obviously aren’t okay,” Alex ran looked down at his shoes, “Stop caring about other people and care about yourself for once, asshole!” He rolled his eyes, looking away from Zach.
“I want to show you something,” Alex squinted his eyes a little taken back by the boy’s words, wordlessly, he nodded, Zach took the lead, the walk was awkward and uncomfortable. It was filled with the boys breathing, and the sound of twigs snapping underneath their weight. They came to a cliff, that overlooked the lake, the stars were brighter than Alex had ever seen. The small waves crashed on the shore, Alex thought it was rather peaceful.
Zach wordless walked towards the edge which caused Alex’s heart rate to speed up, although Zach didn’t completely sit at the edge, he sat closer to where the two were standing. Zach patted the hard ground next to him as a signal for him to come and sit next to him, Alex hesitantly took the gesture sitting down next to him with a groan. Zach looked up at the sky, then back at Alex. “I care about you, man,” Zach said in a small voice, “I’m sorry he used you,” Alex shifted uncomfortably looking out at the lake.
Alex furrowed his brows together, “I just…” Alex had a lot of frustration bubbling inside him. He was so hurt that people continue to use him, first Jessica, then Winston when does he get a fucking break. He let out a loud exhale, “Why do people do this me?” He said sadness and confusion filled his voice as he tucked his knees into his chest, he started to shake as the tears he’s held in almost all day were released. Zach hesitantly put a hand on his smaller counterparts shoulder, making the boy jump as a reaction, Zach felt him ease up underneath his touch. He sniffed loudly, before looking up wiping his tears on the sleeve of the yellow jacket. He laughed although, it was bitter and cold, completely void of humor. “Why am I not good enough for anyone, Zach?” He had his head on his arms that were on top of his knees, he moved it to look at Zach. His face was red, not in anger or embarrassment may be from the cold or the crying Zach couldn’t tell but all he wanted to do at that moment was make sure he was safe.
Zach sighed, looking up at the stars twinkling back at him, “They fucked up,” He shook his head, “You don’t deserve that… No one deserves this, especially not you,”
“It happens so many fucking times why wouldn’t I deserve this I fucking killed a man!”
Zach was stunned into silence all he could do was look at the stars. “Do you believe in fate?”
“That’s for dumbasses of course not,”
“Gee thanks,” Zach chuckled bumping their shoulders together. Alex just rolled his eyes and continued to look at the water crashing up against the shoreline. “I do…”
    “Hence it being for dumbasses,”
“Fuck off, Standall,” Zach’s goofy grin. Alex thinks it may be his favorite smile he’s ever seen but he doesn’t dwell on the thought for very long, he already knows loud and fucking clear how Zach feels.
    “Why?”
    “Hm?”
“Why’d you ask if I believed in fate?” Zach was silent again, he was silent for almost two minutes before he took a good look at Alex, then back at the stars.
“Do you think if we wouldn’t have killed him someone else would have? I think about it sometimes like maybe… If he didn’t die at the hands of us it was fate for him to die that night?”
Alex pondered the question, he didn’t like thinking about Bryce. It made him physically ill- he had blood on his hands that no matter how hard he scrubbed, no matter how many times he’s washed his hands- they are stained with the blood of Bryce Walker. “Isn’t that taking the easy way out?”
“I guess so,” Zach stretched back putting his hands behind him as he watches the stars, he loved how beautiful and collected they were, he was envious of flaming balls of gas. “But still… You know, we aren’t the only ones who wanted to kill him I mean there was like a hundred suspects before they narrowed it down to us.”
Alex mulled that thought over, “I mean I guess you aren’t wrong, he was a piece of shit.” Zach nodded. A thick blanket of silence and tension fell over them. “How’d you know?”
“About you and Winston?” Alex nodded slowly, “Ani and Clay told us about Winston Jessica told me that you guys were you know…”
“Making out?” Alex deadpanned, “Truth be told,” Alex said getting into the same position as Zach, “I never hooked up with him,”
“Why?” Zach blurted out before he could keep his big dumb mouth shut, “I-I mean…”
“I don’t want to have sex with people who I’m unsure of…”
“When did you become such a sap,”
Alex just rolled his eyes looked away from him, “Shut up, it doesn’t even matter he didn’t even like me anyway,” Alex said rather bitterly yet he was still playful. He felt a pinky brush his own he knew it was Zach’s- neither of them made an effort to move their hands so they kept their pinkies overlap.
“He’s a fool,” Zach shrugged, now at this point, Zach’s hand was on top of Alex’s smaller one neither cared to move it. Reason three billion and four why Alex thought Zach liked him- the two of them could be hanging out and Zach and he would basically be holding the hands of each other and not say a single word and leave their hands there. “You are an amazing person, Alex,”
Alex just nodded, the two savored the silence as they looked at the sky. The night sky wasn’t completely clear it had small clouds moving passed the stars, quickly. Alex loved to watch the sky so intently he’d be able to see the world spin. Alex laid his head on Zach’s shoulder, “I’m obviously fucking not Zach…  I have a hole in my head, I have this dumbass limp, I mean look at me I’m so fucking ugly it’s no wonder why people leave…” He was just ranting out loud, but what he had said had hurt Zach’s own feelings.
His brows scrunched together, “I don-”
“Zach, you opinion doesn’t matter you’re my best friend you’re supposed to say these things.”
“No, I’m not I could agree with you but they aren’t true, I mean sure yeah you shot yourself so? You’re still just as beautiful as before if not more so, there is beauty in pain you know,”
`    Alex sighed. He had no idea why Zach insisted on saying these things about him. He felt hurt in a way that he is allowed to say these things and also not reciprocate the feelings Alex has. He couldn’t wrap his head around why Zach did things like this. “We should head back,”
Zach shook his head, “No one is calling us, let’s just enjoy the stars.”
“Are you some sort of astrologist?”
“No, but sometimes- like right now, it’s peaceful… Like it’s just eh two of us,”
“Would you like that?” Zach looked away, Alex, didn’t take back his words nor his hand.
    “I would, yeah.”
Yet, another thing to add on Alex’s running tally of reasons why he loves Zach, “Me too,”
Zach nodded as he hesitantly intertwined the two’s fingers neither one of them pulled away, they just stared at the stars in comfortable silence, just the two of them.

Finding Peace In Another Part 25
A/N: This chapter contains some smut. Additionally, Jake’s death is heavily referenced in this chapter so please be respectful of the discussion and how it plays out. posting this one early. I couldn’t wait anymore. This chapter is heavy on the angst. It is also pretty long, so sit back and enjoy. I’m sorry if the spacing is weird. Much love. Word count: 6655
That Thursday night, Monty stayed the night at my house again. I had begun to find it harder and harder to sleep without him with me. We slept curled up in my bed together under the blankets. He woke me up the next morning with soft kisses from my shoulder all the way to the top of my head. “Good morning.” I smiled, groggily.
“Good morning cutie.” He smiled back. I rolled over and rested my head on his chest.
“It’s not usual for you to be up before me.”
“I know.” He replied, carding his fingers through my long hair. I’m a little overdue for a haircut.
“Is everything okay?”
“Yeah. Just couldn’t sleep anymore.”
“Mmkay. How about we just stay here today? I’m too comfy to get up.”
I felt his chest rise and fall as he chuckled. “I would love to Becks, but there’s a game tonight. I have to go to school. And don’t you have plans with Justin at lunch?”
I groaned in response. “Tell Coach you have to stay here and cuddle me. I shall keep you here where it’s warm. Justin will understand.” “Becca, I really would if we could. Come on, time to get up sleepy head.” He began sitting up, moving me to the side some. My head hit the pillow again and I snuggled back into the comfort of my bed. “I will pick you up and carry you if I have to.”
“Mhmm, yes dear. That’s nice.” I muttered back, half asleep.
“Rebecca, you need to get up now.” He laughed. Wonder how he likes a taste of his own medicine. I groaned in protest as I rolled over and sat up, running a hand through my hair.
“Fine. I’ll get up. No after game cuddles for you though.”
“You say that now. When we win, your tune will change.” He smirked, confidently.
“Stop looking at me like that.”
“Why?”
“Because if you don’t, you’ll be explaining more about our private life than I would like to Coach.”
Monty smirked at me again before he put his arm around my waist and under my knees, picking me up before setting me down again. He then proceeded to go about going through my closet for some clothes for me. I cleared my throat. “I can dress myself you know.” I told him, a little grumpy from being physically removed from my bed.
“I know.” He said. He gave up on trying to find me actual clothes, so he turned his attention to my underwear drawer. When I realized what he was doing, my eyes widened.
“Montgomery.” I exclaimed, throwing my arms in the air.
“Hmmm?” he hummed, as he began digging through my undergarments.
“That is my underwear drawer.”
“Very astute of you Becks. You know where your laundry goes.”
I sighed and walked towards him, before I began pushing him from my room. “Out.”
“But-.”
“Go make a bowl of cereal or something.” I pointed to the stairs and shut the door. Going through my underwear. Seriously. I can’t believe him sometimes.
Downstairs, I found him standing by the coffee pot, on his phone. He looked up when he heard me. “Yeah, you did much better than I would have.”
I looked down at my outfit. I didn’t think it was anything that special. I had simply grabbed a black and white tank top to go with the black maxi skirt and blue overshirt to wear. Since my hair was slightly too long to manage, I had thrown it into a messy bun and did some quick makeup. “It’s not that special, but okay.”
“Becks. If you hadn’t kicked me out, you would be better off wearing your bunny pjs to school.” I thought for a moment and decided he was probably right. He passed me a cup of coffee and I took a long sip.
“Yum. Thank you, babe.” I went around the house and gathered the last-minute things I needed for the day. As I looked around the main floor, I couldn’t help but feel like something was off in the house. It’s probably nothing.
Monty had been right when we told people. By the time we got to school today, people mostly ignored us, instead interested in something someone else did that was shocking. He met me at my car and walked me to my locker, before kissing me and heading off to find his friends. Bryce wasn’t at his locker thankfully. Classes were busy, as we were getting close to the end of the year. This is so not how I expected this year to go.
Lunch with Justin was nice. We avoided the cafeteria and ate outside in the sun, something I couldn’t really do at home in April because of rain or snow. Some things about California are nice. Still could use universal healthcare though. “How have you been?” I asked, watching him separate his lunch.
“Good.”
“That’s good. You and Jess are good?”
“Yeah. How’re you and Monty?”
“We are good. He made me get up this morning though.”
“Made you?” He asked, leaning back as he ate his sandwich.
“Yeah. Picked me up and put me down.”
“Oh wow. Didn’t want to get up today, I take it?”
“Nope. I was very cozy in my bed.”
“Hey guys.” Zach waved to us, walking over.
“Hey Zachy. How was bio?” I asked.
“Better than history. Are you coming to the game tonight Becca?”
“I can’t tonight. I have some stuff to take care of though.”
“Bryce’s after?” Justin asked me.
I tried to keep a straight face when I responded, “I’ll try to make it out. You guys planning on winning tonight or will there be a need for more consolation cookies?”
“The goal is to win. Would you make us congratulations cookies?” Zach asked.
“I can see. It depends how much time I have this weekend.”
“Chocolate chip?”
“Do you want chocolate chip cookies, Zach?”
“Maybe?” He grinned.
“I think I can make that happen.” The bell rang before we could really talk more. I really need to find some time to talk to Justin about how he’s doing.
I got home from school a few minutes after four and I knew something was different when I pulled into the driveway. I had a feeling. When I walked in the door and saw my dad’s travel briefcase by the door, I sighed. Wonder how long he will be in town this time. I shook my head and decided to get a head start on my homework for the weekend and worked on it for a few hours before I got hungry. Monty texted me before the game started and I hadn’t responded yet, so even though I knew he was on the field I shot him a quick text. I hope you’re having fun babe. Wish I could have been there tonight, but I’m swamped with school stuff. See you in a while. I didn’t mention that my dad was home as it didn’t seem pertinent. It was around seven thirty by that point and I knew the game would likely be ending soon, so I went to the kitchen to make myself a snack.
I almost dropped the knife I was using to cut myself some cheese slices when my dad cleared his throat behind me.
“Fuck.” I gasped.
“Do you have anything you want to explain to me Rebecca?” He asked, accusatorially.
I made a confused face before turning around to face him, “no? And hello to you too.”
“Really? No? That’s your answer?”
“Yes?” What the fuck is his problem?
“Nothing at all you want to explain? Not a single thing?”
“No Dad. Do you think I need to explain something?”
“I do actually.”
“What?” I asked, completely lost as to what he was on about.
“Maybe we can start with why when I got home last night and went to your room to check on you, there was a boy in bed with you.”
“Are you serious?”
“Very serious. Start explaining young lady.”
“I don’t have to explain shit to you Dad.” I shook my head, trying to walk around him with my snack.
“You live in my house. You damn well better explain yourself.”
“You wouldn’t know it’s your house by looking at it.” I muttered.
“What did you just say?”
“Nothing.”
“Bullshit. We can discuss that next. Now explain.”
“He’s my friend. Figured you would be happy I’m not just in the house alone.”
“Why would you sleeping with some random guy make me happy?”
“He’s not some random guy. He is my friend. Not that you would know anything about that.”
“And what is that supposed to mean?”
“It means Dad, that you’re never here.”
“I am so.”
“One or two weeks a month doesn’t count.”
“Bull.”
“It’s not. Look at your fucking calendar for once and take note.” Before I could continue, there was a knock at the door. I stopped arguing with my dad for a moment to look. He had walked out of view of the door and I went to answer it. Standing on the other side of the door, were Monty and Scott. It’s like he knows when I’m busy. “Hey guys, it’s not really a good time.”
“What’s up?” Scott asked.
“Who’s at the door Rebecca?” my dad called from behind me.
“Just a friend from school.” I called back to him. “I have to go but I’ll see you in a bit okay?” I said quietly.
“Is everything okay Rebecca?” Monty asked, very concerned.
“Yeah, its okay. I’ll explain later. Bye guys.” I shut the door before they could answer me. The fight with my dad picked up right where it left off.
“I work for a living Rebecca. I have to go to work in order to pay the bills so you can live here.”
“Trust me. I know.”
“Do you have any idea how ungrateful you sound right now?”
“Do you have any idea how much of an asshole you are?”
“Watch it. You’re on thin ice as it is.”
“Oh, whatever Dad.” I said, rolling my eyes.
“Your brother never would have acted like that.” He said, venomously. I felt the wind get knocked out of me.
“Don’t fucking talk about Jake. Especially not like that. Not with me.” I was fuming now.
“Why not? He wouldn’t have. He was my son. I think I know how he would act.”
“How? How would you have any idea how he would act right now? You were hardly home when we were kids.”
“That’s not true and you know it.”
“It is so true Dad. Mom stayed home when we were little so you could go on your business trips. When we got older, she got a job where she would be home right after school, so we weren’t alone when you were out of town. And then….” I had to stop, to keep the tears from spilling.
“And then I was home.” “Yeah. You were home because your wife was dying so she couldn’t take care of the two of us on her own anymore. You came home because you had no choice. Don’t act like you did it for us.”
“Well who else was going to watch you?”
“That’s not the point Dad. As soon as her funeral was over, you were scheduling your next business trip. You left your kids alone at home two weeks after our mother had died. And you had no issue with doing it.”
“You were old enough to take care of yourselves.”
“I was sixteen Dad! Jake was eighteen. We weren’t fucking old enough to take care of ourselves. Not after that.”
“Well you seemed to do just fine on your own together.”
“Just… just fine? I’m not sure you remember but your son fucking killed himself while you were on one of your stupid trips.”
“You think I could forget something like that? That I could forget having to get on a plane because my son was missing?”
“Well you could have fooled me.” My dad rolled his eyes and didn’t say anything else. “You never even asked me how I was or if I needed anything. You just told me that we were moving to California and started making plans.”
“Don’t act like the idea of moving wasn’t nice to you.”
“It wasn’t! I never wanted to move. I never wanted to move here. I wanted to stay at home. I have people at home. You took me away from everyone and everything I had ever known, right after I lost the most important person in my life. And since you seem to think I was so okay with moving and you’re so convinced you are parent of the goddamn year, why don’t we talk about the fact that you literally fucking stayed in town long enough to hook up the utilities before you were gone on another business trip? I’ve been raising myself since Mom died. More so now, since it’s just me in the house.”
“I can’t do anything about where work wants to send me and when Rebecca.”
“That’s crap and you know it. You didn’t have to leave less than two weeks after we moved.” Again, my dad had no response. I’m not stupid. I know you think I am, but I’m not.
“We aren’t talking about me. We are talking about you.”
“Actually, we are talking about how you think you’re an amazing parent or something equally untrue.”
“No, we aren’t.”
“Dad. You left me home alone in a foreign country. A country with the right to keep and bear arms. You thought that was a safe idea? If it was my kid, I would be overjoyed that she isn’t home alone every night.”
“Jake would never have had a random girl in the house without consulting me first.” I saw red now.
“I told you to stop talking about him. You had no idea what he was like or who he was as a person.” I turned on my heel and grabbed Jake’s jacket from the banister, making for the door.
“Rebecca Catherine Samuels. We are not done this conversation. Get back here.” I ignored him. “Don’t you dare open that door.” I ignored him again and yanked out the door. I was about to step out when he spoke again. “Fine. Go. Have fun living it up in your dead brother’s jacket. Bet the boys find it so attractive that you wear your brother’s jacket around.”
I stopped briefly. “Go fuck yourself.” I growled, slamming the door shut behind me.
I stomped my way over to Bryce’s house. I was too angry to even consider the fact that I was going to be in his space once again. Party goers noticed my expression and the way I was walking, quickly making a clear path for me. Upon entering, I spotted my boyfriend, our friends, and Bryce gathered down the front hall. Marching up to them, I took Monty’s cup right from his hand and slammed the rest of his drink back. He and the small group stared at me, wide eyed. They seemed shocked at my actions. I turned my attention to Bryce. “Do your parents try to parent you when they get home from their trips?” I asked, still angry.
“Yeah, sometimes.”
“Is it as infuriating as what I just experienced?”
“Sometimes.” He answered, sharing a look with Monty and Zach.
“What happened Becca?” Justin asked.
“Are you okay?” Monty asked, reaching for his cup to take it away from me.
“Fucking peachy. And what happened Justin, is my dad got home last night. And today he decided to go off on me for no fucking reason. By the way, he knows you spend the night now.” I directed my last sentence to Monty. His eyes widened in fear. “I told him to deal with it. He’s the one who made me move here and decided to leave me home alone all the time.”
“You got into that bad of a fight because Monty spends the night at your place?” Scott asked, scratching his chin.
“No. We got into that bad of a fight because he proceeded to try and play father of the decade and ‘talked’ about Jake. He was hardly around when we were kids. He didn’t know shit about him. That’s why I’m infuriated with him.”
“Holy… I’m sorry Becca.” Zach said, pulling me into a hug and rubbing my back.
“Do you need a place to crash tonight? I’m sure Mom and Dad would have no problem with you sleeping in Clay’s old room for the night.” Justin offered.
“I don’t know Justin. I don’t want to impose.”
“It wouldn’t be an imposition. I’ll call mom and we can stop to grab your bag on the way to my place.”
“Okay. Thank you.” I felt familiar arms going around my waist and leaned back against my boyfriend. He kissed the top of my head gently. I began calming down some, being in his arms. “This is nice and all, but that beer was terrible. I need a real drink.” I told him, sighing.
“Okay, let’s get you a drink then.”
He took my hand and we walked to the kitchen. He poured me a bourbon and Coke and I paced myself a little bit drinking it. When it was empty a while later, I went and got a vodka Diet Coke. That one didn’t last as long as the bourbon, mostly because I could hardly taste the alcohol in it. Deciding that would be my drink of choice for the evening, I went in search of my third and a half drink of the night. When I had a thought of Jake or the fight I had with my dad or Bryce, I drank some more, and it went away. I wasn’t so drunk that I couldn’t stand, but I was pretty confident I wouldn’t remember much of anything in the morning.
Monty or one of my friends must have been watching me and told him to cut me off, because before I could have number five or was it six, my cup was removed from my hand. “I think that’s enough for now Becks.”
“But-.”
“No buts. Come with me.” I thought for a moment, but the look on his face said there would be no use in arguing. He took me by the hand, giving my drink to Zach as we passed him, and led me to an empty, secluded area. I trust Montgomery completely but the thought of being alone with a boy in this house made me queasy. I tried my best to chock it up to the alcohol I had consumed.
He sat on the floor in the hall near what I assume is the master bedroom, given its lack of people, and patted the spot next to him. Reluctantly, I sat down cross legged and he rested his elbows on his knees. “What’s going on Rebecca?”
“Nothing. I’m fine Montgomery.” I told him. Sure, my vision is blurry, and my head feels all cotton-y, but I’m fine.
“No, you’re not. I’ve never seen you drink like this before. Zach called Bailey. He told him he’s never seen you drunk before. He has known you for years. And don’t try to say you weren’t allowed to drink at home until you were fifteen, because my point stands.”
“He called Bailey? Why?”
“Because he’s worried about you Becks. I’m worried about you.” I looked down at my feet. I thought about telling him what was going on, but Bryce’s words replayed themselves in my head. You may be Monty’s flavour of the week, but he is my brother. So, if you do decide to talk, he will take my side. Instead of responding, I leaned my head on his shoulder. He placed one of his hands on my knee and we sat in silence for a while.
I watched him draw patterns on my knee absently and smiled softly to myself. I heard the words coming out of my mouth quietly, rather than just thought in my head, “I love you.” His hand stopped drawing for a few seconds while he thought about what I had just told him. He seemed to be trying to tell if he had heard right. He was quiet for a while. “You don’t have to say it back though. No pressure or anything.”
“I love you too.” He said, equally as quietly. I lifted my head from his shoulder, and he moved to cup my face with one hand. I leaned in and kissed him. I had to pull away to adjust slightly but after I had, I kissed him again. I could taste the alcohol in his kiss, and he pulled me closer to him by my waist. We pulled away and leaned our foreheads against each other. I giggled, giddily. I didn’t expect the first time I told him I love him to be when I am heavily intoxicated but hey. It seems to have worked out.
“Becca? Monty?” We heard Justin’s voice from around the corner.
“I guess that’s our cue that it’s time to get up and get you to bed.”
I nodded, beginning to feel sleepy. He stood first and offered me his hand. I took it and he pulled me up.
“There you are. Do you want to head out now? Mom said it is no problem for you to spend the night tonight.”
“Okay. I’ll just write dad a note saying I’m staying with a friend tonight.”
“Sounds good. I’ll let you know when we get to my place Monty.”
“Thanks Justin. Have a good night beautiful. Take some Advil before bed.”
“I will.” I agreed. The three of us walked to the door and I turned to give Monty a bear hug. Or at least, what could pass for a bear hug in my current state. “I love you.” I said into his chest.
“I love you too.” He spoke into my hair.
Justin took me home to get my things and I woke up the next morning in the Jensen’s guest bedroom. I didn’t remember everything about the night before, but I did remember talking to Monty and what feelings were confessed. I sighed as I got up and got changed out of pyjamas and made my way downstairs. His family was very kind, as usual, and soon it was time for me to head home and face the music. I walked into the house quietly and tiptoed past my dad’s office. The door was mostly shut, and I could hear him typing away. The remainder of the week at home was very quiet between the two of us. I was a lot more cautious about closing my door if Monty came over for the night.
School was still busy, and I was finding it harder and harder to focus. Monty and I spent almost every lunch hour together, trying to make up for all those lost hours while we were seeing each other in secret. Friday was one of the few nights our team had a bye week, so they didn’t play. That meant that Monty could come over after school. We confirmed our plans over our morning coffee from Monet’s before class. In history, I gave Zach his congratulations cookies. He beamed all class. The rest of school passed mostly uneventfully. There was a fire drill, but that was the only real exciting thing.
We got home from school and studied for a bit in my room, sneaking glances at each other the whole time not really focusing on our work. My dad was out of town for the weekend again, so we weren’t in a rush tonight. I managed to somehow finish my paper before he crawled over to me and whispered, “anything else you need to do?”
Whispering back as I nodded “there is this one thing. Though I’ll enjoy it much more than a stupid History paper.” I pulled him close and kissed him deeply, feeling his arm come up to hold the back of my head. He pushed our books out of the way, being careful of my laptop, before moving me up the bed. I made quick work of removing his flannel and T-shirt as he worked on unbuttoning my top. He kissed my neck as I ran my fingers through his hair. Once he had my shirt unbuttoned and slipped off, he moved to the button of my jeans, waiting for permission as he rubbed that sweet spot near my hips. “Yes.” I breathed and the word was barely out of my mouth before he was undoing my jeans and pulling them off. I felt his hand play with the waistband of my underwear before he pulled at the sides, taking them off. He teased me for a bit, never really touching where I wanted him to and never staying in one place for very long. My moans got louder, and I bucked my hips trying to get him to touch me where I wanted it most. I felt him smirk and finally touch me. I gasped in ecstasy, pulling on his hair harder than I meant to. He chuckled against my neck and nipped at it drawing more sounds from me. As he kissed my neck and rubbed me, I felt his finger enter me. I froze. In one second, I saw it all in my head again his hands holding my hips, the feel of his hands on my body, him entering me over and over. “S-stop.” I choked out. I felt Montgomery freeze for a split second before quickly yet gently removing his finger from my body. I struggled to catch my breath as he looked at me very concerned. He let go of my side and looked into my eyes.
“Are you okay Rebecca?” He asked, trying to mask his arousal from our previous fooling around.
Breathing heavily, I nodded, not trusting my voice. He looked at me until I had calmed down, afraid to touch me again in any way. “Just have cramps. They’re pretty bad this month.” I replied shakily.
“Do you want some Advil or anything? I can grab it for you. Just lay there.”
“Uh... yeah. There should be a bottle in the medicine cabinet with a prescription label and blue pills. Can I get one of those please?” I asked, not really needing it for cramps, but rather to try and get my muscles to relax. He nodded, getting up and heading to my bathroom. He grabbed the bottle and headed downstairs for some water. While he got my medicine, I got up and put on a pair of underwear and shorts before sitting on the bed waiting for him.
“It said to take it with food, so I brought you a little snack.” He said, carrying a piece of cheese, a glass of milk, and the pill over to me. I took them gratefully and after finishing the milk and the cheese snack, he pulled me up and embraced me tightly.
“I’m sorry.” I apologized into his chest. I felt him kiss the top of my head and then step back so I could look at his face. He tilted my head up and looked at me seriously.
“Rebecca. Never feel like you need to apologize for telling me to stop. I don’t care if we are on round six and I’m just about to finish, if you want me to stop, I will. It’s only fun when we both enjoy it.” I looked up at him and nodded. He leaned down and kissed my forehead, before asking me “now for the most important question of the night…” oh no. Please don’t ask why. “Big spoon or little spoon?” He grinned as I let out a breath and giggled.
“Little spoon please.”
“Alright then, come here baby girl.” He grinned again as he climbed back into bed and pulled me with him. He held me close and played with my hair. It wasn’t until I heard his breathing even out and his grip loosen around me, signalling he was asleep, that I finally let the tears fall.
A few days passed uneventfully and then Wednesday rolled around. The day was going well. Possibly even too well. There was no traffic on the way to school, my friends were all in good moods, the sun was shining but it wasn’t too hot outside, no homework had been assigned. It was a good day. I guess one could say that was the calm before the storm. While Tony and I walked to lunch as we usually do, I noticed Justin talking to Bryce. I couldn’t make out what he was saying but I saw Monty put his hand on Justin’s shoulder, as if he was telling him to back off. Scott moved to the side as Justin pushed Montgomery’s hand away. In one quick motion, so quick you would have missed it if you blinked, Justin pushed Bryce back into a locker. There was a second of still before all hell broke loose. Montgomery grabbed Justin as Bryce kneed him in the groin and suddenly the hallway was full of action. Students everywhere throwing punches left and right. Before I could stop him, Tony went in to help. He went straight for Monty, pulling him off of Justin holding his hands up he said “I don’t want to fight you. Just breathe.” Montgomery advanced on Tony and called him a coward faggot. Tony lost it and punched him in the face. Given his short stature it would have been funny if it was a movie scene or something. But it wasn’t. This was real life. I blinked and Tony was on Montgomery, punching him in the face repeatedly. I heard Cyrus yelling to get his friends involved and watched in shock as the fighting grew more intense. Scott was pulling Clay back to my left and Zach ran into the fighting to my right. He jumped on Bryce and Montgomery jumped on him. I watched in horror as my boyfriend punched my best friend here repeatedly after throwing him into a locker. As the fighting continued, I saw Alex hobble into the fight. He seemed to be going straight for my boyfriend. He lifted his cane and whacked Montgomery across the back with it before losing his balance and falling over. Again, had it been a movie I would have laughed. I couldn’t take my eyes off of the scene before me. Montgomery grabbed Alex and shoved him against a locker. They stood there for a moment, as though reliving something they had done before, when Montgomery pushed him back to the ground. Mr. Porter and Coach Rick came upon the scene to try and break up the fight before they both seemed to get bitten by the fighting bug as it were. Now they were fighting each other amongst the group of teenagers. Finally, I heard someone pull the fire alarm and the fight broke up. Montgomery looked up and saw me standing there, watching him. His face immediately went from angry to shocked. I stayed long enough to watched everyone get detention before shaking my head at him and walking away, vibrating in anger.
I decided to be a good friend and wait for Tony, Clay, Justin, Zach, Alex, and Cyrus to get out of detention. It gave me an excuse to catch up on some reading that I had slacked off on since the move. As the foolish teens were released from detention, I caught Montgomery’s eye. He started towards me, but I pointedly ignored him, hoping I conveyed my displeasure and disappointment with him as well as I intended. I saw Alex and Zach leaving the room and waved them over. “Guys! Come here, I’ll take you back to my place and fix you up.” I said loud enough for Montgomery to hear. He can stitch his dumb aggressive ass up himself this time. As they walked over to me, I caught sight of my other friends and had them come over too. When they were all gathered around me, we started towards the door to go back to my place. I turned to take one last look at Monty before leaving. He looked sad and a little bit offended. Serves him right. Arriving at my place, I got everyone inside and set to work patching them up. Some took longer than others, but I didn’t mind. It gave me time to stew in my anger at my idiot boyfriend. “Stupid people punching each other in the damn hallways. Stupid stupid.” I muttered not realizing I was speaking out loud. The boys all cleared their throats. “What? Oh... not. Not you guys. Sorry.” I mumbled looking down.
“It’s okay. You’re pissed off we get it.” Justin said, understandingly.
“What were you fighting about anyway? I mean I know Bryce is a shitty person but still. I don’t know what you were all fighting about.” I asked, though I had a bit of an inkling. It seemed like I wasn’t the only one who he... hurt. I thought to myself, still unable to even think the word. My question was met with awkward silence until Justin cleared his throat.
“Bryce did something to a couple of people who mean a lot to me. A couple of girls.” He said, the disgust clear in his voice.
“You mean he assaulted them.” I said, suddenly finding the hem of my shirt very interesting. Justin just nodded. “And my idiot temperamental boyfriend didn’t believe it.” Great... wonder if he will believe me. Bryce was probably right. He will believe him over me any day. I’m just the girl he’s seeing for now. Bryce is his best friend. More than that, he is his brother. Again, I was met with silence. The silence was punctuated by a heavy, impatient knock on my front door. I had a feeling that it was Montgomery coming to grovel for forgiveness. I shook my head and motioned for one of the boys to answer it. I wasn’t really expecting Alex to go though. Zach stood up with him, to block me from Montgomery’s view.
“What do you want de la Cruz?” Alex spat after he opened the door.
“I want to talk to her Standall.” I heard Montgomery say.
“Well she doesn’t want to talk to you. Go home Montgomery.” Alex said and I flinched at how angry he sounded. I assume he must have stood his ground given I couldn’t actually see him.
“I just want to make sure she’s okay Alex.”
“Well she’s fine. Now you know. So, leave.”
“Monty. Go home. Give her some time. She has every right to be upset with you right now. You told her you were done with the fights and stuff. When she’s ready to talk she will.” I heard Zach speak up.
I heard Montgomery sigh and turn to leave, probably realizing he wasn’t going to get his way this time. Alex shut the door and turned back to me. “Do you have any junk food? My mom is still on her health food kick. And maybe a drink?” He asked, trying to lighten the mood.
I laughed as I started going through the cupboards looking for some junk for Alex. “Beer in the fridge if you want. Or wine if you’re into that. Or juice and stuff if you’re not drinking. You are all welcome to stay over if you’re going to drink. Anything stronger and I’m not fighting anyone to get up for school in the morning. So only take it if you can handle it. How do Doritos sound Alex?”
“Good. I’ll just text my mom and tell her I’m staying over. Don’t need her seeing the bruising and freaking out even more. Might take away my recently earned video game privileges again.” Alex said before taking the chips and grabbing a beer. Justin was the only one who refused a drink, trying to stay sober and all. The boys texted their parents while I went upstairs to change and get some blankets and stuff for the night.
“You’re welcome to the guest room if anyone wants, or you can sleep on my bedroom floor, or we can crash in the living room. Couch isn’t great for a full night sleep but if you want a shitty back in the morning, more power to you. Doesn’t really matter to me where you want to sleep.” I told them when I came back down and started on dinner. Cyrus walked over to help me while the rest of the boys argued about a movie to watch. No one agreed to watch The Notebook with me. The evening passed fairly quickly after we all got to be a few drinks in, and we crashed in the living room.
The next morning, I knew I was going to have to face Montgomery. Although I figured I could put it off a little longer than first thing in the morning. Scott had other plans though. He cornered me when I got to school. “You have to talk to Monty.”
“And say what exactly? You beat up my friends but it’s cool. Let’s fuck? Yeah that’s not happening.”
“No, you don’t have to say that. But you need to talk to him. He’s been in a mood all night.”
“Scott, I have nothing to say to him. He needs to learn that he can’t just hit people when he has a fucking emotional response to something.” I told him plainly before turning and walking away. I avoided everyone for the rest of the day. Didn’t talk to any of my friends in class, ate lunch in the library, and made sure to be the first one in and out of class after the bells rang. You’re doing it again. Pushing everyone away. I heard Jake’s voice in my head. Yeah well you don’t get to be my moral compass anymore. Maybe if you had talked to me instead, none of this would have fucking happened. I thought bitterly. Get out of my head.
I managed to avoid Monty for the day until final bell. He was waiting for me outside Peer Communication.
“Becks can we please talk?”
“About what? The fact that you’re friends with a rapist? Or the fact that you beat up my friends?”
“Don’t call him that Rebecca. That’s not fair.” He told me, grabbing my arm as I tried to get past him. I pulled my arm away from his grasp roughly.
“I have to go to my locker. I got a ride with Tony this morning so I’ll need you to take me to my place so we can talk about this privately.”
“Okay.” He said as he fell into step beside me. We went to my locker and got my things before going out to his Jeep in silence. I once again, ignored Bryce, pretending he didn’t exist and being near him didn’t make me want to scrub myself down again. When we were almost at my place he finally spoke, breaking the tense silence. “Bryce isn’t as bad as they make him out to be you know Becca.”
“By they do you mean my friends, who you beat the shit out of by the way?” I asked him shortly.
“I mean yeah. You can’t believe Hannah or Jessica. They probably just regret having sex with him. And Justin shouldn’t have stuck his nose in someone else’s business.” I turned to look at him not believing what he just said, shaking my head incredulously unable to form the words to respond to him, before jumping out of the Jeep and stomping harshly towards my house.

Finally, the day of prom came, and you were all set to get ready and dance your ass off tonight. Jessica was also at your place because you needed her to help with makeup, hair, and stuff you had no idea about. Both the boys were going to pick you up from your place.
Jessica asked in confirmation “Dress?”
“Check!”
“Hair accessories?”
“Check!”
And…did you put a straightener to heat?”
“Oh, Jess do you realize that you are going through this checklist for the fifth time? It is all good even if we leave something out that we are not, so what’s the big deal? Isn’t today all about having fun just chill babe?”
“Y/N this is our last school dance it has to be perfect.” she declared.
You could never win against Jessica in a matter like this, so you just rolled your eyes and followed everything that Jessica told you about. You both went to a full regime of skin care and then she did your makeup and hair.
The theme of the senior prom was ‘Masquerade Ball’ and you picked up a perfect corset dress. It was a sequin dress the corset was black with a tint of golden to it and the skirt was golden with a tint of black at the very bottom of it with embroidered flower patterns. It also had a ribbon that went around your waist and tied into a bow on your back.
You had a last look in the mirror before going into the living room where your parents were waiting to see you. You looked at yourself and, you had to admit, you looked like a goddamn princess and the glow added to your face thinking about Clay made you look even better.
You heard the doorbell, “Honey your dates are here.” your mom shouted from the living room.
You and Jessica walked into the living room and seeing you both your mother exclaimed “Oh sweet Jesus! Don’t you two look beautiful?”
Your father was too startled to say anything, he was shocked at the sight in front of him. He always saw you like his little girl who needed her father’s help in everything but now he saw a well-raised beautiful young woman. Seeing you, your father shed a tear as he was overwhelmed, he tried his best to hide but could not.
You walked up to your dad and said “Aw Dad!” and gave him a warm hug.
Your eyes met Clay. He was wearing a tuxedo and was looking smoking hot. You walk over toward Clay and said, “Who knew my Nerd could pull off a tuxedo?” Clay simply grinned. He was staring deep into your eyes it seemed like he wanted to say something but was not letting it out “What?” you asked.
“You look…” he sighed “Seraphic!” he finally said.
Justin sauntered to Jessica, gave her a sweet kiss, and said: “Hello, gorgeous!” He then turned towards you and said “And Y/N you, you look terrific. I have never seen you like this before.”
Your lips curved into a smile and said, “Thanks Justin, you look great too.”
“Um Y/N I got something for you,” said Clay offering a corsage. You stretched your hand and allowed Clay to put a corsage on your wrist.
“Oh my god, Orchid? This is beautiful! I got something for you too Jensen. Mom, can you pass that?” you asked your mom to pass a boutonniere you especially got for Clay. You pinned the boutonniere to his jacket.”
“Shall we princess?” asked Clay with courtesy. But your father stopped you both.
“So, Clay Jensen, right?” your father questioned.
“Yes, sir.”
“Bring her back till 11, okay?” he demanded.
“Yes, sir,” Clay said like an obedient boyfriend.
You all walked out of the house stopping on the porch you asked Clay “So where is our ride? I mean I asked you out, the least you could do is get us a Limo. Right, Jess?”
Jessica nodded in agreement and raised her eyebrow at Justin in question.
“Okay, I deserve that. Justin and Jessica are going with Charlie and Alex in an actual Limo. I have a different plan for us.” Said Clay.
“Oh really? What is it?” You jumped with excitement.
“I know what you love more than a Limo, this!” said Clay pointing his index finger towards Tony’s Mustang.
“Oh, my fucking god! Tony’s Mustang? How did you convince him?” you asked in disbelief.
“Well, seems like he’d do anything for his best friend he knows how important you are to me and how much you love this car, so he agreed.” Clay offered his hand and asked, “Shall we madame?”
You held his hand and replied, “Oui, monsieur.”
You all arrived at the venue decided by your school. It was a big ballroom with a dancing space near the DJ and there were many round tables arranged for the seating. The room was decorated with every shade of white flowers. Exquisite chandeliers hung above the ceiling giving the room a royal aesthetic.
You and the gang took some drinks and hit the dance floor. You danced to many songs. Tony did the job just right as a DJ, you tried so hard to convince him to join the prom with everybody but being a DJ was his escape from socializing and dancing.
You and Jessica danced your ass off to the song ‘Best Friend’ by Doja Cat and Saweetie and decided to take some rest. Clay was just standing in one corner smiling at you as you danced. You walked up to him and urged “Oh come on Clay, we are at our Prom, we are supposed to Dance you know. Haven’t you read about proms in the library?”
“Ha-ha very funny. I can’t dance. Plus, it is such a pleasure seeing you dancing.”
You pouted at his response and to make it up to you he pecked your lips and offered you a drink.
You both were standing in one corner and talking and observing others. Your eyes fell on Charlie and Alex dancing to a slow song. They both were wearing tuxedos with matching boutonnieres pinned to their jackets and held each other while moving swiftly to the beats of the song. Then you saw Jessica and Justin dancing just beside them, it felt like love was in the air.
As you both were enjoying watching and talking a tall dark-haired boy approached you both.
“Hey Y/N, you look amazing and you too Clay you look fine in that tux,” he said.
“Hi, Zach. Thanks! You don’t look so bad yourself either.” you smiled.
“Um, Clay…I was wondering if I can borrow your date for a dance?”
You looked at Clay and said, “I don’t know Zach, I am pretty tired.”
“Come on Y/N it’s just one dance I am asking for, please?” Zach insisted.
Clay seemed like he had no problem with you two dancing together, “No, Y/N if you want to, then please. I will be right here watching you.” said Clay.
You nodded and proceeded towards the dance floor with Zach. Song ‘The Way, I Loved You’ by Taylor Swift started playing in the background and you both found your rhythm to dance. You held one of Zach’s hands and his other hand rested on your waist. Zach swirled you around a few times and you both were back to facing each other.
“Y/N I’d like to say something,” asked Zach.
“Yeah?”
“See I know we got off on the wrong foot. But I miss my time with you. I regret saying whatever I said. The thing was that I was too scared to put my game in jeopardy. But I didn’t realize that you were equally as important…” you cut him off “But Zach…”
“No, please listen to me. Breaking up with you was a huge mistake, will you ever be able to forgive me? I know you are with Clay now so the least I could ask for is forgiveness” he asked with innocence in his eyes.
“Of course, Zach, I already forgave you a long time ago. To be honest, I am grateful to you, if you never broke up with me, I would have never realized that I had feelings for Clay, and now hearing all those words from you made me realize exactly how I feel about him. So, thank you.”
While you both were dancing Justin and Jessica approached Clay and Justin asked “Dude, what is she doing with Zach?”
“Zach wanted to dance with Y/N so they’re dancing.”
“And you let her?” asked Justin sounding annoyed.
“Yeah, and she does not need my permission I am her boyfriend, not her master or anything and additionally they are just dancing what is wrong with that? It’s prom after all” replied Clay.
“Clay, you don’t let your serious girlfriend dance with her ex with whom the things were still complicated…”
“Oh yeah, Clay sure they are dancing, and look at them so adorable right? Whereas it should be you looking into her eyes the way Zach is. But I am sure this dance will not stir Y/N’s feelings back towards Zach.” Jessica said sarcastically.
Clay started to feel insecure and decided to make a move. He walked up to you as you expected him to. The only thing that could provoke Clay was jealousy and Jess played that card just right.
As soon as he held your hand to dance Tony changed the slow song to some rock music “Seriously Tony?!” you yelled in frustration.
“Hey, it’s okay, we can just jump around like these crazy people here, right?”
A grin took over your pout and Clay and you jumped around the dance floor feeling yourself and being lost in the music.
You and Clay found a seat for yourself to take a break and helped yourself with some food.
“Y/N? Can I talk to you?” a familiar voice came from behind you.
Before you could say anything, Clay howled “What the hell Bryce?”
“Hey man, I just wanna talk to her, just chill, okay?”
You turned towards Bryce and gave his request a thought. You decided to hear him out, whatever he wanted to say. You stood up but Clay pulled you back. You assured him by saying “It is okay Clay. I’ll be fine. What can he possibly do in a room full of people? I will be back, okay?”
Clay nodded in apprehension, and you followed Bryce to a corner of the room. You crossed your arms around your chest and asked, “What is it, Bryce?”
“Look Y/N I wanted to thank you for not taking any serious steps against me. I could have lost my scholarship and my chance to go to school and I want to apologize for whatever I did, I am sorry.”
“Bryce, everybody deserves to go to college, and you do too. No matter how you are everybody deserves a chance, so I gave it to you, and it is not a big deal.”
“Yeah, and I am grateful for that. I didn’t realize what I was doing. I was insecure and acted like a dick…” you cut him off and said in agreement “Well that is true.”
Before Bryce could say something, he was cut off by Clay “Everything okay babe?”
“Yeah, he was just saying something. Everything is fine.”
“Clay let me talk to her, please?” requested Bryce, and Clay started walking away with a frown but this time you pulled his hand and said “No Bryce Clay is not going anywhere. He is my boyfriend whatever you wanna say, you can say in front of him” Clay’s eyes gleamed hearing those words.
Clay stood by your side holding your hand “Y/N I was just saying that I am sorry. For everything.”
“Okay.” You replied.
“Okay? You are not gonna forgive me?” he asked.
“Well, you asked me to hear you out, so I did. I gave you a second chance Bryce, but I cannot forgive you, not just yet. I would like you to live with that guilt, if any.”
Bryce took a step towards you, but he was blocked by Clay in the way. Clay stood between the two of you facing Bryce and his hand stopped Bryce from moving further. Half of your body hid behind Clay.
“You heard her, now just leave her alone.” You never saw Clay so protective, and you loved the way he demanded Bryce leave.
You both went back to where the whole gang was and got to know that they soon are going to announce the Prom King and Queen.
“Who’d, you think it’s gonna be?” you asked Jessica with curiosity.
“Who knows? It is always up to the football team” she said pointing toward Zach and the other guys on the football team.
They called Jessica to announce the Prom King and Queen as she was the class president. Jessica walked right into the middle of the room and took the envelope where the names were mentioned.
She read and every soul in the room was looking at her with suspicion, she built up the suspense and finally said “I can never be happier to announce these two names as Prom King and Queen. Are you all ready to know?”
“Yes!” Everybody yelled in excitement.
“Y/N and Clay what the hell are you doing there? Come here because the Prom Queen is Y/N Y/L/N, and the Prom King is Clay Jensen. Come and collect your tiaras.”
Clay and you saw each other in disbelief as the unexpected had happened. You thought that Charlie and Alex were going to be prom kings but here you were receiving the title of Prom Queen. Jessica put the crown over Clay’s head, and you bowed to let Jessica put the tiara. When Jessica did her part, you looked at the audience and made eye contact with Zach as he raised his glass to you both. “Thank you” you mouthed to him.
“This one’s for two of the most important people in my life” announced Tony while playing ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran.
He knew how much you loved the song, and he played the song at the right moment.
“May I have this dance?” Clay’s question caught your attention and your eyes started shining.
Clay offered his hand, and you instantly took his hand. Clay kissed the back of your hand like a gentleman. You bowed and then held each other in a dancing position.
Clay’s hand slid down to your waist holding you close, and your hands rested on his shoulders. Gazing into each other’s eyes you both started dancing while your legs moved in perfect sync you teased Clay “Who knew this nerd could dance?”
“Well as you say, I am full of surprises.”
You felt ecstatic and calm dancing with Clay like you had nothing to worry about. The lyrics ‘I found a girl, beautiful and sweet. Oh, I never knew you were the someone waiting for me…’ echoed in the background.
You looked at Clay and said, “Clay Jensen, I think I am in love with you.”
“Did you just use both my names in a single sentence?” he teased.
“Come on Clay, you’re ruining the moment.”
Clay chuckled and replied, “Sorry, I know I am in love with you Y/N Y/L/N.”
“And I am in love with you Clay Jensen.”
 ‘I don’t deserve this…’
‘You look perfect tonight…’
Clay swirled you around and your body collided as he held you tight like he was never letting you go.
“Kiss, Kiss, Kiss” the crowd started shouting in unison.
You looked at Clay and said, “Seems like it’s time for some PDA Jensen.”
Clay smiled and crashed his lips onto yours, the kiss was desperate yet gentle. After you both had your moment, the crowd joined the dance floor, and you danced in Clay’s arms for the rest of the night.
---
Clay abided by your father’s rule of getting you back to your place by eleven. As you both were not party people at all you decided to ditch the after-party. You both sat down on the couch in your bedroom and helped yourself to some hot chocolate.
The first thing you did after reaching your home was to get out of that dress and realize how good it feels to finally be able to breathe again. You lay your head on Clay’s chest and he put his arm around you as you both sipped your hot chocolate.
“Clay?” you called him out.
“Yeah?”
“I got a mail today, I got into Princeton.”
Clay removed his hand from your shoulder and sat up straight.
“Wow, that’s… great. But you are not going right?” asked Clay in apprehension.
“Clay… Princeton has been my dream college since I was a little kid. Of course, I want to go.”
“You’ll go all the way across the country? What about…us? We all know long distance never works” said Clay standing up.
You tried to convince him “Clay come on, it’s my college we are talking about.”
“So, all that ‘I love you shit was fake huh? You were playing with me this whole time, right?!” He sounded furious.
He started walking out of the room in a rage, but you tried to stop him “Clay please stay. Talk to me.”
Clay shed a tear and whimpered “I am too tired to fight right now Y/N. I should probably leave.”
He left and slammed your bedroom door. Tears started running down your eyes. You were asking questions yourself; did you just ruin a perfect relationship? Did you just hurt the most wonderful boy you have ever met? The hurt caused was not intentional, but you still felt guilty, you ruined your perfect night with the boy you love. Maybe Clay was right, maybe you were graduating single from high school.

A Kiss To Change It All (Part 25) - Montgomery de la Cruz
Pairing: Montgomery de la Cruz x Reader
Warning: Mention of death. Angst at points.
Word count: A little over 2000.
A/N: Because yesterday’s chapter didn’t satisfy me. Here you go. Feeling inspired. xx Sophia
Tumblr media
The news came like a bolt out of the blue. It was unexpected and shocking. Hannah was dead. She took her own life. When Miss Bradley announced what happened on Monday afternoon, the whole room went silent for the rest of the class, none us of daring to speak. You should have guessed, you should have been there for her. But you didn't and there was no way you were going to change anything now that she was gone. You felt guilty and you couldn't help it. « She was so sweet and loving, why did she do that? »
« Sweetheart... »
« Jeff, she killed herself because she had had enough of everything! Lord knows what pushed her to do such a thing! » After hours of silence, you were loudly crying and blaming yourself for something you couldn't stop because Hannah knew it was meant to be that way.
Your best friend eventually managed to calm you a little bit, ceasing your crying. « Will you be fine? » He asked when you parked your car in front of his house.
« Don't worry, Jeffereykins, I'm feeling better now. » You kissed his cheek and drove away to your house, thankful that none of your parents would be home at this hour. As you proceeded to open the front door, something caught your attention, a box sitting on the doormat, with just your name written on it with a black sharpie. 'What's that?' You wondered picking it up as you pushed your front door open and entered the house. There were no stamps, no expeditor, nothing. Someone must have put it there directly. Sitting in your desk chair, you carefully cut open the paper wrapping what seems to be an old shoe box. You didn't know what to expect inside of it, so you backed up while you took the lid off and to your surprise, there was a letter on top of whatever was inside. You instantly recognized Hannah's beautiful handwriting. 'No no no it can't be from her...' But it was.
'Dear (Y/N),
You must be wondering what is in this box and why you have it.
But before I tell you anything, I wanted to thank you, for the few moments of calmness and happiness you and Jeff gave me while I was still there. The efforts Jeff put in helping Clay to make a move on me. The bits of advice you gave me. The many times you listened to me even when I was doing things wrong.
Everything, really.
You are a beautiful girl, inside and out. Your smile and kindness could warm the coldest hearts, Montgomery is the proof that I am not saying nonsense to you.
Now for the part you want to know. This box has the thirteen reasons why my life ended. People that were involved in the slow process of me reaching the decision of taking my own life. You must think that it is wrong and I should not have done this, you are right but what there was nothing left of me worth continuing to live. I am sorry for what I did but you will know why I did all of this and you will know that Jeff's accident could have been avoided.
The only instruction I am going to give you is to pass this box to the first one on the tapes and to keep the letter for you.
Thank you again,
Hannah.'
Tears were once again covering your cheeks like a waterfall, some landing on the light pink paper, smudging the blue ink at some parts. You quickly gathered your thoughts and moved to grab the old cassette player from the attic, you thanked yourself when you decided not to throw it away when Jeff was helping you clean out your bedroom a few years back. 'One day, Jeffereykins, this will make a comeback and you'll be jealous I own one.' You wished you had to use it for something else than this.
Sitting on your bed, you pulled the first tape and placed it inside before pressing the play button, Hannah's voice filling your room, making you jump, caught off guard. "Hey! It's Hannah. Hannah Baker..." The rest went quickly, you listened to side after side, tape after tape, swallowing the hard moments Hannah had to get through on her own, with no one to complain to, no one to ease things a little bit. You were about to start listening to the second side of the fifth tape when you heard a knock on your door. "Sweetie, we're home."
"Hey, dad."
"What's my beautiful daughter up to?"
"Uh... Listening to some history tapes Clay gave me today."
Your dad chuckled. "Kids these days still use tapes?" You nodded with a soft smile. "Fascinating." He added. "I'll call you when dinner's ready."
"Thanks, dad." He closed the door and you proceeded to flip the fifth tape to get to Hannah's tenth reason. Before you pressed once more the play button, you felt your stomach hurt in pain, remembering what Hannah said before your father entered your room. Jessica. She had no idea of what happened. She couldn't fight back. You weren't allowed to tell anything to any of the people on the tapes before they listened to them themselves.
You took a deep breath, somehow finding the strength to continue listening to the other side of the fifth tape. The one that quickly made your blood boil in anger. The one that made you jump off your bed and punch the nearest wall out of rage. "Bitch!" You growled. Your phone buzzed on your bed. "Not the right moment Tony, really not!" You grabbed your jacket and stormed out of your room.
"Where are you going?" Your mother was standing behind you and spoke before you couldn't even open the front door. "(Y/N), where are you going?"
"Sheri needs me, it's important."
You didn't allow her to say anything else and you were out of the house, walking as fast as your legs could. Driving wasn't an option considering the state you were currently in, so you walked, ran at moments, trying to get to Sheri's house as soon as you could but before you could cross the street, just two blocks away from her house, you were pulled back on the sidewalk. "What are you doing this late outside?"
"None of your business." Yanking your arm away from his hold, you tried to push past him but of course, you couldn't no matter what you did, moving on the left, he did the same, on the right, same pattern. "Leave me alone, Monty!"
"You're clearly pissed, so no, I'm not going anywhere." His calm tone was beyond irritating to your already tensed nerves, he was wasting your time. "What's going on?"
"I said it's none of your freaking business, Montgomery. So, move I have somewhere to be!" You didn't leave him many options, sighing, he took a step towards you and in one movement, you found yourself thrown over his shoulder, wiggling but unable to free yourself from his stronghold. "Put me down, Cruz! I don't want to go with you!" You kept hitting his back, but he didn't let of you, he didn't even flinch.
"Actually, I'm not asking if you want to go with me, princess." He opened the passenger door and carefully made you sit on the seat. "Don't you dare go anywhere." You didn't. He drove away pretty fast, worried that you might want to get out if he waited some more. "What's going on?" Silence. "You're mad about something..." Silence again. You knew he was going to get crazy if you didn't talk. "Is it because of what Hannah did?"
"I'm with you, so don't push it too far, Cruz."
"Damn it, you can get stubborn when you try, (Y/N)."
Lifting an eyebrow up, you shot him a glare. "Learnt from the master of stubbornness, don't blame me." With this, you turned your face away from him, looking at the scenery that was fast scrolling before your eyes. Despite being beyond angry, you couldn't help but remember the long late night rides he took you on, the ones he took you on when you couldn't sleep, the ones you went on when he suddenly wanted fast food in the middle of the night, often dragging you out of your bed in nothing but your pajamas and a coat, the ones that were sometimes filled with silence because he wasn't in the mood for talking but still needed you to be with him, and that were some other times filled with laughter and old songs that the two of you sang on top of your lungs. You were pulled away from your thoughts when you realized the car stopped moving and Montgomery was leaning against the side of the hood, arms crossed over his chest. "Why did you bring us here?"
"Because I know this place makes you feel better." One point for the heartbreaker. The sound of the water and the fact that there was no one but the two of you always had a soothing effect on you, even tonight when the only thing you wanted to do was to kill Sheri for what she did. "Talk to me, (Y/N)."
You shook your head. "There's nothing to talk about..."
"So why are you so pissed?"
"Stop asking questions you know you won't get an answer for."
He nervously laughed, resting his arms on the opened window of the door. Payback could be a bitch sometimes: this time was tonight. "Gosh, are you still thinking about that?"
Rolling your eyes, you looked away from him, calming the sudden urge to yell at him by staring at the still water. "If you weren't so vague in your explanations, maybe I could think about something else, Cruz."
"Drop it, (Y/N), I'm serious."
Your head snapped back to his direction. "Make me."
"(Y/N), you won't get anything good out of this so please, for the sake of everything we had..." He stopped, his voice breaking a little. "Let go of it, I'm begging you." Montgomery reached the point of begging, he had no other choice, you would get hurt if the truth came out, if you found anything about what pushed him to break up with you. "Will you stop digging?"
"I'll do but first answer my question." Shifting on the seat, you were now a few inches away from his face, he tensed at the small distance separating you. "Please, we've been closer than this, Cruz."
He chuckled. "You're really something different, you know that?"
"Been told so a few times."
"Shoot your question, (Y/L/N)."
"Have you ever lied to me when we were still together?"
"Never." It came quick. You had no doubt over this, and right now, you could read it the look in his eyes. "I never wanted to lose you, (Y/N)..." He brushed away the hair covering your cheek, resting his warm hand on it. "And I knew that one wrong move, you wouldn't hesitate to leave so yeah, I was honest with you from the beginning." Your eyes shifted away from his and became shinning with a thick layer of tears that, once you blinked, landed on your cheeks and inevitably on his hand like tiny diamonds. His heart sank. You bite tightly your lower lip to prevent the loud sob from escaping your lips making his heart sink in his chest. What followed was much needed at that moment, he opened the door and his strong body engulfed you in a wave of warmth and safety, a tight hug in which you could almost hear his heart beat inside his chest, making you forget about the reason why you stormed out of your house in the first place.
"I'll stop, Monty." You mumbled as you pulled away from him. "If that's what you want then I won't do anything anymore." It was certainly the hardest decision you took in your whole entire life and giving up on this felt like you were giving up on being happy again. "Even if I did nothing, to begin with." You sniffled making him smile.
"Good..." He whispered as he pressed a kiss on your forehead. "You good now?"
"Yeah, Monty, I'm good." You didn't forget about Sheri but sure you were going to get back at her later as for now, you were enjoying the quiet moment with the one you used to call yours just a few weeks back. Maybe it was the last time you would be with each other like this. Maybe not. At that point, you stopped thinking about the future because so many unexpected events happened when you thought everything was getting back to normal. "Thank you."
"Anything for you, princess."
You smiled. "Still with this one?"
"Always. You'll always be my princess, (Y/N/N)"

A hook up || Zach Dempsey
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/n and Zach hook up at a party and she gets pregnant.
A/n: Requested by anon, this is officially the first zach fic I've ever written. Also, I didnt edit. I will. Soon. I hope.
Warning: I suck at angst. It could have turned out way sadder than it did, but the topic of unexpected pregnancy scares the shit out of me, so I couldn't dive too deep. Hope it's still good.
-
The bass was too loud. Around you, everything was a blur. People were bumping into you from all sides, but a strong pair of hands kept you in place. Zach, as bad at dancing as he was, did his best to match up to your moves, swaying a bit from side to side. He chuckled continuously and looked down at you in awe, not missing any chance to bring his body even the tiniest bit closer to yours. Electric sparkles tickled the inside of your chest, as under Zach's stare, you were just a pile of mush. You have always been. You met him at the beginning of freshman year and had this stupid crush on him ever since. It was his posse and ridiculously popular group of friends that kept you from trying to get to know him, but tonight, they didnt exist to them. Since the party started, he never, not even for one second looked at you without smiling. As dizzy and lost in the moment as you were, you tried to think whether he was this attracted to you just in this setting. Imagines of him at school, quietly munching on his healthy and way too big lunch, or him rolling his eyes at whatever his friends had just said, popped into your mind and you burst into a fit of giggles.
"Hey, gorgeous" his voice broke the barrier between your mind and reality. He bent down and looked you straight in the eyes as he spoke, "Everything ok?"
You held his gaze. And maybe you did it for a second too long, but you were done for. Every little bit of your body was burning with emotion and words simply refused to come together and align themselves into decent sentences. "No, yeah!" you mumbled eventually, and shook your head in embarrassment, "I'm fine, everything's fine"
His left hand traveled up your back as he turned and pointed to the back door, "Need some fresh air?"
Bless his heart, he was clueless to the moon and back, but at the same time, as sweet as it gets. Instinctively, you nodded yes, and Zach took your hand, slowly guiding you outside. Somewhere on your path, you saw out of the corner of your eye the stairs that led to the bedroom, and on impulse, you strengthened your hold on his hand and pulled him back.
Losing his balance for a second, he frowned, "You ok?"
Answering never even crossed your mind. Clasping your palms against his cheeks, you pushed yourself up on your tip toes, and much to your surprise, your lips met his halfway. He kissed better than you thought he would. Actually better than you thought possible, and it drove you wild. His manners went right out the window as he bit into your lower lip with burning passion and grabbed your hips, lifting you off the ground. As you held onto his neck, the kiss got more and more avid. He was hungry, and this all felt like teasing. He couldn't get enough, his tongue went deeper, his lips got more aggressive, his hands lost all inhibitions but he didnt know any signs of stopping any time soon. And you were fine with it. So fine that you let out a lewd moan, causing him to break the kiss.
"I wanna hear you moan again" he whispered. His chest raced up and down, his lips were swollen and droplets of sweat ran down a few strands of hair that had fallen onto his forehead, but what you loved the most was the fifthly red tint that covered his cheeks in patches.
"Try all you want" you giggled, "But I'm not gonna moan just by looking at you"
His lips parted as he shook his head, laughing.
"Let me correct that" you belted, "I might moan just by looking at you but-"
"Like me that much, huh?" he smirked proudly and when you rolled your eyes, he took a few steps forward, slamming your back into the wall. He went straight for your neck, biting with force into your skin. His warm lips soothed the spots his teeth had just sank into, and he traveled all the way down to your collar bone, making the pressure between your legs turn unbearable.
"Think we can find an empty room?" you panted into his ear.
"You sure?" he moaned, slowly raising his head so his eyes could meet yours. His words were sweet and his intentions pure, but the lust that rolled off his stare simply said something else.
Not one second was needed for you to reply as you send Zach an eager nod, which prompted him to straighten his hold around your frame and start carrying you up the stairs. He seemed unable to distance himself from you and unwilling to let you catch your breath.
Just when you started to lose yourself again into his kiss, your back slammed against a door, which thankfully swung open pretty easily, and before you knew it, you were laying on your back, on a bed you've never been in before, in the house of a person whose name you didnt even know, and with the captain of the football team on top of you.
"Lock the door" you panted, grabbing his cheeks to pull him away from you.
Zach smirked and licked his lips, "What? Don't like the risk?"
"If someone walks in-" you started but he cut you off.
"Just teasing you" he laughed, sinking his face into the crook your neck. "You should probably get used to it"
"Oh, should I!?" you exclaimed amused, pushing him off of you.
Shaking his head with laughter, Zach took a few steps back and towards the door, locking it twice, "Just to be sure"
"Come here" you giggled, extending your arms to welcome him back into your hold.
That dangerous smirk creeped up on his lips again, as he walked to the edge of the bed and and took his sweet time unbuckling his belt. The metal clinking combined with the sound the the leather rushing against his jeans, set your core ablaze.
The second his lips met yours again, there was no going back. He was filled with that specific kind of hunger which makes you feel on edge no matter what. His hips rubbed against yours as his strong hands roamed your sides. Unwilling to wait anymore, you took initiative and guided your right hand between your body, easily pushing past his undone jeans to grab his cock. The contact forced a loud moan to slip past his lips, before he gritted his teeth shut and decided to see where you were going with this. It was nice while it lasted, as all you managed to do before he took his dominat role, was to give him a few rubs.
After helping you out of your clothes, he pressed you down on your stomach, kissing your back all the way down from behind your ear lobe and down to the end of your spine. Planting his palms on either side of your head, you arched your back and perched your ass upwards, craving contact.
Zach placed his hand on your waist and gently rolled you onto your back, "Wanna see that beautiful face"
With your cheeks red, you smiled and wrapped your legs around his hips. As he bent down to kiss you again, he positioned himself at your entrance, going in ever so gently. A hurricane of butterflies erupted inside your stomach, and despite usually going for something a little bit more rough, but this time, you were all for enjoying the moment. Eventually, the situation escalated up the point where you were a mess, moaning uncontrollably as Zach worked his hips against you at a more than satisfying pace. Sweat droplets ran down his forehead, as he frowned struggling to last as much as he could. Biting his lower lip, his eyes where squeezed shut, as the air left his lungs menacingly fast through his nose.
"I'm so close" you panted, wrapping your arms around his shoulders to bring him against your chest.
"Cum for me" he groaned, burying his face into your neck. His rhythm picked up and everything became a sweet blur as he sent you spiraling over the edge. It must've come as a relief for him as he finished soon after.
Zach helped you get cleaned up, insisting you wait on the bed. Butt naked, he walked into the bathroom connected to the room you were in, and returned with a damp washcloth.
After you got cleaned up, you knew it was time to leave, but not one single part of you was too happy about it. Just when you started you get up, Zach leaned down and grabbed your wrist.
"Where're you going" he asked you, as he layed on his back with his head turned to you.
"Was gonna go get dressed" you mumbled, pointing to the pile of clothes on the floor.
"Oh" he sighed, "Oh, ok-". He seemed taken aback, and fankly, a bit disappointed. "I thought you maybe wanted to hang a bit?"
You hesitated and giggled, as your heart rushed into overdrive.
"Only if you want, though!" Zach hurried to clarify, pulling the duvet up his abdomen as he sat up.
"Sure" you smiled and gave him a faint nod. A smirk appeared on his lips and as you got back under the covers, he leaned all the way over to the foot of the bed and grabbed his shirt.
"Put this on"
"I'd much rather take you jersey, but this will do" you laughed, causing him to roll his eyes.
A little bit of time passed, and before you knew it, you were taking awkward selfies together, trying hard to contain your laughter everytime Zach tried another random snapchat filter.
"You're amazing" he said cupping your cheek and pulling you in for a kiss.
It all felt so sweet, it was hard to believe it was real. That night, you refused to think about how you would act around each other in school, but on Monday morning, this beautiful dream you felt you were living, resumed.
As you rummaged through your stuff, you heard a loud crash and turned to see Zach, leaning against the locker next to yours, barely able to contain a wide smile.
"Hey gorgeous" he grinned, but his eyes suddenly shifted in color.
"Morning" you giggled, closing your locker, "What's up?"
"Can we talk?" he asked, "Outside? For just a little bit"
"'Course"
You followed him to one of the benches in the school yard, and had a little chat. If you liked him before, now you were head over heels. He explained how he had a crush on you for the past few months, and admitted that hooking up at a party wasn't the way he wished to start things with you. Feeling comfortable enough to open up, you told him you felt the same way about him, and your talk ended with you two deciding to take things slow, with no commitments, until you got to know each other better.
What followed after this, were probably some of the most rewarding days of your high school experience. You two texted every night and had lunch together, he sometimes drove you home after you patiently watched him train at the school gym. Things were going fantastic until one notification on your phone made your heart stop. You checked the calendar and felt your eyes well up with tears. Still wearing your pyjamas, you rushed outside the house and ran to the closest pharmacy only to confirm your biggest fear. When the pregnancy test came back positive, you didn't feel like leaving that bathroom ever again. How you managed to be so reckless would always be a mystery, but the damage was done and if there was anything you learned in the last two years, was that nothing can turn back time.
Ever since finding out, you avoided Zach. Gave him short, blunt and negative answers, and always found an excuse to be as far away from him as possible. 3 days had passed, and you were getting more and more scared. You refused to tell anyone because you knew they'd all point you in Zach's direction. There was no way you could look into his eyes. You were filled with shame, and didn't want him to see you like this.
Much to your dismay, this didn't last long. It didn't take much time for him to realise you were hiding something, and he didn't want to repeat his past mistakes. Eventually you agreed to sit down and talk, and one day after school, he drove to the edge of a cliff. You two settled on the grass under a tree, and silence followed.
He didn't want to push you, but his eyes wouldn't leave yours and that put a lot of pressure on you. It was painfully obvious he cared, and it make everything ten times more difficult.
"Listen" Zach sighed, "Whatever it is, whatever happened, you know I won't judge you, right? No matter what"
You tried to nod, but a lump in your throat made you cough out a faint whine, moments before tears streamed down your cheeks.
"Hey, hey, hey!" he whispered, hurrying to wrap his arms around you, "It's ok, it's ok, (Y/n). You're ok"
You stayed in his hold for quite a long while. None of you said anything and he refused to let go of you until you stopped shaking.
You straightened your back and fixed your eyes on a street lamp behind him. Taking a deep breath of air, you spoke, "I'm pregnant"
"Oh" was all he managed to mumble. You saw him look down at your stomach as he remained silent.
"It's ok" you sighed, "I'm not too happy about it either"
"This is why you've been avoiding me?" he asked softly, "You shouldn't-"
"Oh, spare me" you cut him off, sending your arms flying up in despair, "I don't need you to be all sweet and understand with me right now, Zach. This is by far the dumbest thing-"
"Hey, stop, ok?" he argued, "Why are you so mad at yourself, it's not like-"
"Not like what?" you yelled, "Tell me Zach, it's not like what?"
He sighed. Despite having a lot to say, you weren't giving him a chance. His eyes were darker and you couldn't read him. At all. Was he mad about it? Was he disappointed in you? In the fact you didn't feel comfortable coming to him from the beginning? One thing was clear, he wasn't good with words, and it showed.
"Listen" he eventually said, placing his hand on your knee reassuringly, "What's done is done, and whatever you decide to do, I'm here and I support you"
"How could I be so stupid?" you grunted, annoyed with yourself beyond words.
"Hey, this isn't all on you. It's my fault too, at least as much as it is yours-"
"This isn't your fault" you shook your head.
"It my dick" Zach shrugged, "Should've wrapped it up"
"That was the last thing on my mind, Zach"
"Same" he nodded, "But there's no point getting mad over what we did or didn't do. We can't change it. You need to make a decision, and I'm here to back you up. That's all there is to be done right now"
"A decision..." you chuckled bitterly as another tear rolled down your cheek, "I don't have that much of an option"
"Yeah, you do" he countered, "You always do"
"There's no way I can get an abortion, I can't afford it so that's out of the question. Also-" you sighed and paused for a second, "I can't tell my parents, they'll kill me. My only option is running away from home"
Zach's eyes grew wide before his eyebrows fell into a frown, "Not at all what I meant. First, you need to choose if you want to keep the baby, or not."
"I don't know" you confessed.
"Look" he said and grabbed your hands, "I'm not gonna force you to make a decision right now. But don't be afraid to tell me once you do"
"Ok" you nodded faintly.
"And screw the money. I'll pay for anything you need"
"No, you won't"
"Yes, (Y/n), I will"
"Why are you so nice?" you asked, "I thought you wouldn't want to see me ever again"
"Why would you think that?" he asked, and he definetly looked hurt by your accusation, "What kind of an asshole would do that?"
"I don't know... I'm sorry"
"Plus" he smiled, "I really, really like you, so-"
"Zach.." you laughed.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you"
"No need, beautiful" he said, and leaned in to kiss your forehead, "Really, don't worry. We'll get through this together"
"I don't know what I'd do without you"
"You don't have to think about that, ok?" he reassured you, helping you stand up. He wrapped his arms around you from behind and kissed the top of your head as he held you close to his chest. "I'm here, and you're ok"
"Thanks" you whispered, and turned around in his hold to lay your head against his shoulder.
"You are-" he said and kissed your forehead, "Absolutely welcome"
"Do you need to get home right away?"
"No, why?" he shook his head.
"There's this cafe that makes killer pancakes and thought maybe you want to check it out?"
"If you ever doubt how much I like you-" Zach laughed, grabbing your hand and guiding you towards the car, "Remember I took a cheat day for you"
"We can get salads?" you joked.
"What kind of losers would we be?" Zach countered, "We're getting pancakes and I'm buying"
"No, you're not" you argued as you prepared to get into the car.
Zach head popped up from the other side of the hood and he looked you dead in the eye, "I have a little sister, ok? You just cried in front of me, of course I'm getting you chocolate"
"I don't deserve you" you laughed, settling on the passengers seat.
"Yeah, you do" Zach countered as soon as he got inside too. "You really do"
